The Sales Are In: Brandy’s ‘Two Eleven’ Set To Debut With…

Published: Tuesday 23rd Oct 2012 by Sam

After an aggressive promotional push, the final sales estimations for Brandy‘s sixth studio album ‘Two Eleven’ are in.

What are you waiting for? Find out how much the LP is due to debut with below…

According to Hits Daily Double, the ‘Put It Down’ led set will debut at #3 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of…

66,856

*********

Granted we’re sure all involved were pining for a slightly higher number, the figure is solid for an outright R&B effort in the current climate. The key moving forward will be to establish one or more successful “faces” to the campaign – be that more hit singles or steady album sales. In an ideal world, both.

For better or for worse, we’re in an age where perception is everything and at present Ms. Norwood is definitely “back” in the court of public opinion. It’s now down to her team to capitalize on this and ensure they continue to build on her resurgence. For, in doing so, they’ll set up the most secure of foundations for album #7. In the immediate, we’re hearing murmurs about either ‘Let Me Go’ or ‘Do You Know’ being debated for next single.

While both are solid (like the album overall), the success of ‘Put It Down’ among the new generation of listeners, makes the similar sounding ‘Let Me Go’ our pick for single #3. Whatever the case, it’ll be interesting to see B-Rocka’s next move.

i like her as an actor not a singer… didnt buy her album though but i must agree my girl is a hustler

      • ENOUGH ONIKA October 23, 2012

@++++ At least your honest about it, unlike majority of TGJ Brandy “stans.” Anyway, got my deluxe and I’m glad I did. Definitely worth every penny.

      • Kenneth Green October 23, 2012

Hi, please go and buy her album she is great as an actor, but an amazing artist which is what she is known for. Go ge the album you won’t be dissappointed.

      • prettigurlrockD bitchess October 23, 2012

How could you not like her as a singer?? Her acting is alright but her singing?? YASSS.

      • EJ October 24, 2012

This BitchFlopped! But Nobody Wanna’ Say It! #TeamMinaj.

If This Were Rihanna Or Nicki, Yall Would Be Here Trynna Drag Them Up AND Down The Street!

    • Kanelarius November 9, 2012

People keep going on about other artist and sales. Why don’t ya’ll shut the hell up and listen to the music first and then pass judgements. Some of the best reviewed albums in the world have s*** sales.

And before you want to drag somebody through the mud remember that could be your sister, mother or friend just trying to put themselves out there. So instead of being mindless drones to the media and stans to an artist that don’t even know who you be, just go listen to something different and make a sound individual judgement for yourself.

PS No mater how many times somebody opens their legs don’t make them good at what they do… just saying! lol

By the way Brandy if you read this, I like the album but I kind of wish you experimented more with sounds on this one. I mean got to say the lyrics are on point especially in a dumbo lyrical world we have today, but some of the musical contend be boring.

Make more stuff like How High, I Don’t Care, Make Believe. I want you to go get some HipHop beats and bring something different.

Without you, Can you here me now and Never too late are my jams though… and don’t ever put in down again… put that in the bin! Godbless ya’ll

  2. Aaron October 23, 2012

“Put It Down” was a very misleading promotional single for the album.

    • vanny October 23, 2012

exactly not the right single to kick off an album…

      • Owww October 23, 2012

I dont know why people keep saying that! She needed something to grab people’s attention. It did a good job of doing that seeing that it was a top 5 r&b hit. I’m sure with the right single releases it will keep the album on the charts. She did a great job on Two Eleven! It’s all about longevity on the charts.

      • Mob…… October 23, 2012

        @Owww

        VERY WELL SAID!!! *clap clap*

‘Put It Down’ was the perfect single for her. Ppl have not seen Brandy in a minute and that song and accompanying video gave her a tremendous buzz, something a slow jam simply would not have given her. Let’s just be honest.

‘Angel in Disguise’ was my song but she needs a Kelly Rowland ‘Motivation’ popin, uptempo song to get the party started. 🙂

      • toohotfortv October 23, 2012

and how the hell can anyone say it wasnt the right single when the s*** is NUMBER !…. umm hello!

      • Hmmm October 24, 2012

I don’t think it was her choice. Her label has been in control so there is stuff she wanted to do, but couldn’t. I think she wanted “Let Me Go” to be a single or the first single.

    • danny b October 23, 2012

ppl said the same thing about Run The World and 4 debuted with 310k. Im so upset at these numbers. Like, I’m PISSED. This album is f****** a-mazing.

    • prettigurlrockD bitchess October 23, 2012

Girl Have a seat. PID was a better choice than any of the other songs on the album. What else could have done better? Wildest Dreams?? Nah, too slow and boring to the general public.

    • notadummy October 24, 2012

The “PUT IT DOWN” single is where the record company and the ppl guiding her carerr went wrong. Let’s look at the demographics . . . Brandy’s core audience is between the ages of 30-45. 30-45 yr olds are NOT interested in Chris Brown. I think that that turned a lot of people away from this project. Secondly, the record company took too long to release a second single. By the time the CD was released to the masses PUT IT DOWN was the only recognizable single, which was not enough to make her old fans buy her new CD. Sadly though, because the CD is really, really, good. PUT IT DOWN was too juvenille for Brandy’s loyal and older fans.

      • ADC143 October 24, 2012

I think you might be off on Brandy’s fan age demographics. I don’t know any 45 year old who calls themselves a fan of hers. Her fan base is more like in between the ages of 25 and 35; just slightly older/younger than she is herself. But I would agree that the average Brandy fan probably has little interest in Chris.

  3. HOTSTUFF October 23, 2012

LMAO , yall can thumbs me down but she’s a F****** FLOP it’s time for TGJ and all the pressed fans of flops to call real FLOPS, FLOPS.

    • Martyn October 23, 2012

HOW!? It’s a good album! Who cares if it doesn’t sell well!? I imagine you probably listen to Rihanna. And ke$ha. And Nicki Minaj. And people of that musical calibre.

      • HOTSTUFF October 23, 2012

B**** i don’t listen to that plastic whoring Nicki Garbaj after pink friday, who is kesha ? on the other hand, Rihanna slays Brandy with her sweat unique versatile voice, Brandy is a Has been that can’t renew herself #FACT .=> let me listen to some good fresh innovative r’nb *turns on ADELE*

      • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

I know this h** did not say GonaRIH has a sweet unique voice. Yeah sounding like a llama sure is unique.
Dont come for Brandy. The b**** can actually sing. She has more talent in her s*** than Rihfund has in her whole life, and I dont even like Brandy!
        Just sayin.

      • Martyn October 23, 2012

How on EARTH is Rihanna’s voice versatile? That would suggest she can adapt to different genres/types of music. She can’t even sing her own genre… whatever that is.

I don’t even mind Rihanna stans when they admit she can’t sing and claim that she’s a ‘performer’… but the ones that actually think she can sing just make me laugh.

      • HOTSTUFF October 24, 2012

@Martyn honey her voice is versatile she sings, rnb, pop, dance, alternative, reggae #BitchSit

    • jamilaa October 23, 2012

BUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA…BRANDY BABY U NEED TO LET IT GO(IN MA KEYSHIA COLES VOICE) FLOP NATION GOSH! BUHAHAHAHAHAHA SHE IS A FLOP OK! POINT BLANK PERIOD!!!

      • JD October 24, 2012

It actually sold less 65k! When Monica’s last album sold 69k Brandy fans called her a flop!! know Brandy has sold less than that and they tryingay she not flopping!!! Guess what 69k is more than 65k!! So who is the flop??

    • jamilaa October 23, 2012

@HOTSTUFF TELL THEM THE F****** TRUTH!! FLOP SHE IS BRUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

      • Martyn October 23, 2012

I’m not even sure who ‘jamilaa’ is coming at. Her/his posts make absolutely no sense. Maybe it’s because I’m British? Can any Americans help me translate this?

      • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

        She’s talking to @ HOTSTUFF.

      • Martyn October 23, 2012

She needs to stop bastardising my language.

      • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

        Lol.
Well you know these uneducated haters…

    • truth(chile i will console Nicki stans because it OBVIOUS THE B**** has gon off the deep end chile#pops tongue) October 23, 2012

      SUCK EVERYBODY’S DAMN D***!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Solomon David October 23, 2012

It’s the first week if sales are still in the same place in a month or two then yes I will say flop but in the first week not so much

      • JD October 24, 2012

It actually sold less 65k! When Monica’s last album sold 69k you Brandy fans called her a flop!! know Brandy has sold less than that and y’all say she not flopping!!! Guess what 69k is more than 65k!! So who is the flop??

    • prettigurlrockD bitchess October 23, 2012

At least she’s talented though. And still had mild success and support than everyone thought she would initially with the album despite r&b going downhill in this generation.

    • RymeReason October 24, 2012

@HOTSTUFF your response is the problem with our generation. We equate sales and popularity with talent which is OBVIOUSLY not right. Brandy has vocals for DAYYYYYS. But Brandy’s voice is incomparable because no one has a tone or the skill to accompany the innate talent that she possesses. But she has trouble selling records. Mostly because black audiences are no longer buying records. Heck, even the hip-hop artists who are moving relatively good numbers are just profiting off of White America’s need to keep some type of street cred. Don’t be fooled, the industry is NOT about talent. It’s about who’s records are selling. I have no doubt that with the right euro-pop song that Brandy could kill and snatch that other audience right up but she is a true R&B artist. Which begs the question : What’s more important? Staying true to the thing that made you a household name and the art of music you love or just sell to the masses and give them what they want? I’ll wait.

      • Ant October 25, 2012

Thank you for being the voice of reason. These kids, think cause a person is popular they are talented. S***, Bush was president but he was far from competent. To compare put rihanna in the same sentance as brandy is an insult to anything that has talent if you ask me, dont ask me how, it just is.

      • Ant October 25, 2012

i didnt mean to f*** that sentance up like that. whoopsie. To put rihanna in the same sentance as brandy……..

    • uknowhat October 24, 2012

This isnt a Flop dumbass!! its just the first week figures im prettty sure this album will continue to sell! For the RNB market this is actually a great debut, especially for an artist who has not put out an album for years….The album is one the bed Rnb albums ive personally brought this year. Congrats to her for putting out quality .

      • Ant October 25, 2012

Thank you for saying something with merit.

  4. MC October 23, 2012

I am really disappointed, considering Trey Songz had a 135k debut. I have this album on repeat, its that good. This is one of Brandy’s best work, so I hope the album has longevity on the charts.

    • Solomon David October 23, 2012

I feel you I have been on this album for a week and won’t play anything else lol

    • damn October 23, 2012

trey songz albun was dope. and trey songz had better single choices than brandy!!!thats for sure. Also he also has a more established fan base so the two can’t be compared

      • MC October 23, 2012

Trey Songz has a more established fan base?!?! In what planet? *Leaves*

      • voneeluv October 24, 2012

established enough fans who bought 135,000 copies my friend. This is what i hate with some of these fans their favorite artists are the best thing since white bread until the album drops and sales are revealed then its the record company, pr, like jayz said men lie women lie but numbers don’t. if trey can push 135,000 i expected to see bran at least break 100,000, 66,000 is no bueno!

      • MC October 28, 2012

        @voneeluv
That’s why his album fell of in the first 3 week? Okay.

  5. Jeff October 23, 2012

People seem to be more concerned with numbers these days than the quality of the music.
As i keep saying, the numbers are the record companys concern and the quality of music is mine. In her musical career has made 6 albumjs that i have enjoyed one way or another so i am just happy she is able to continue to make music.

    • HYFR October 23, 2012

Its just really disappointing as a huge fan of hers when other artists who dont work half as hard and release music that isnt half as substantial can sell albums flying off the shelves like flashlights during a hurricane. But Brandy cant. And it sucks because I follow her on twiter and I see everybody from the governor to every celebrity on the planet praising her album but still nobody can go out and buy it. All them damn ‘starz’ screaming how much she means to music and how much they support her but cant go out and spend $8-10 on an album. Meanwhile u have the most generic microwave singles in the top 50 on billboard and artists who dont have a single drop of input on the creation of their albums other than the modeling and reading whats written for them debut with wayyyy higher numbers and cant actually SING to save a life. Makes me never want to turn on the radio again. I guess maybe she does need to pick up a new audience because the people who listen to her music clearly dont buy albums.

    • prettigurlrockD bitchess October 23, 2012

      Very true. Quality comes FIRST.

    • RymeReason October 24, 2012

Brandy has already sold enough copies to cement herself as one of the best!!! 40+million sales

    • Elvick November 2, 2012

Pfft, without sales she never would have been in the position to make 6 albums in the first place.

Any fan should be concerned with their artists actually having a career. Sales help to secure their place in music and helps them to CONTINUE to make music.

  6. gio88 October 23, 2012

my doubt is , at least put it down has been sent to pop radios?

  7. Martyn October 23, 2012

‘Let Me Go’ and ‘Do You Know’ are my 2 favourites. I want her to release them both!

And who cares about sales? It’s a solid album. I’d rather she sell less and give us an album like this than release a Rihanna style album of auto-tuned b******* and hit #1

    • Solomon David October 23, 2012

I am so agreeing with you on this comment

    • JD October 24, 2012

Fail! Brandy herself said she needed this album to sell!! This was her last shot! And she has failed! That’s 3 failed albums in a row!! She is done! Its ova!

  8. S****** Blonde October 23, 2012

I knew the sales were not that bad since I saw the post about it, Sam usually don’t talk about his idols poor sales, see Rita Ora, Kelly Rowland and Beyonce.

    • KingBey October 23, 2012

your idol is madonna, and she fell off the charts within 10 weeks, Beyonce was in the top ten for 10 weeks. Lets NOT.

      • S****** Blonde October 23, 2012

I don’t deny it, like all of Beyonce fans do.

      • JD October 24, 2012

Fail to realize that Madonna does not have to sell another record! She is the Biggest selling female artist off all time! 300 million records and Beyonce will never see that!

    • Diva October 23, 2012

Wooowww….. she did all this promotion and only sold 67,000. Kelly Rowland Here I Am sold 77K 1st week with only 1 late night concert on Jimmy Kimmel and her album leaked as well! Hmmmm…… I wonder where is all the Starz at that was going in on Kelly and Monica yesterday????

      • hood_star_06 October 23, 2012

diva u speak the truth – i like brandy and her greatest hit album i still blast today but ppl go in on artists when there are worse comparisons out there – SEE NELLY FURTADO!

  9. JP October 23, 2012

    @ Aaron, I agree.

And I’m hoping Let Me Go is the next single or Without You.

  10. missdiva October 23, 2012

The Starz are Sad broke and arrogant…They tALK all that S*** and cant step to the plate when needed…MONICA HAD NO HIT OR BUZZ OR PROMO AND SOLD MORE WITH 70,000….66,00 IS NOT GOOD AND NEXT WEEK EXPECT SALES TO BE LOWER…HOPE MONICA COME WITH A HIT CAUSE PUBLIC BUYS HER S*** WHEN SHE COMES HARD(ex.after the storm and still standing both 184k and 187k first week)….maybe next album brandy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

    • pat October 23, 2012

right…all monica had was a million first single attempts…one including pimping brandy to even get anyone to pay attention to her…..have several _/ _/

      • FAF October 23, 2012

DEAD @ Monica has bigger first weeks…

What good is selling 180k-200k first week when u can’t push platinum EVER?

      • jboogie October 23, 2012

lies. monica’s went platinum 3 times. but the truth of the matter is, brandy aint even seeing gold these days. hows does that feel?

      • Elvick November 2, 2012

Um, Monica & Brandy’s song was originally supposed to cross promote Brandy’s album. She and/or her label decided to drop the song from the album.

Not Monica’s fault they backed out of that.

    • jboogie October 23, 2012

monica didnt pimp s***. if anything brandy and rca used monica to get brandy back out there. she didnt have to do that duet with her. but she did, and when it flopped, she acted like she had nothing to do with it. what goes around comes around.

      • Diva October 23, 2012

I agree with u on tht 1 jboogie

      • credits October 23, 2012

but you know they would both be on top right now if they were fighting over a guy in “it all belongs to me”…lol

    • King Maestro October 23, 2012

YEAH U SAY THAT BUT UMMM who Brought the MAKING OF ME… lol. I love Monica and I love Brandy but don’t throw CHART SHADE between the two of them because they both have had their down moment boo so u do me a favor a have a _/

      • Jace October 23, 2012

Um yeah like who bought human and afrodisiac. I say that because those were two of Brandy’s best album no sales. The makings of me is a classic cd still in my rotation just Brandy’s human is. Two eleven was straight garbage for die hard Brandy and R&B fans. This cd was way too immature for a artist of her caliber. Don’t throw Monica under the bus for Brandy mishandling. New Life may not been Monica’s best album but she did stay true to her roots.

  11. VANNY October 23, 2012

oh brandy.. i could i should but i wont….. where are all her delusionals stans now? instead of going out to purchase the album they spend most of the time on blogs cursing and dissing everybody smh…. *waits for the flock of delusional brandy stans* 3 ..2..1…

    • RIHANNA NAVY October 23, 2012

LMAO a bunch of broke b******. all they do is argue with you but when it’s time to buy the album they are no way in sight.

      • vanny October 23, 2012

yasssss hunny … thats what the f*** im saying!!! all they do is run they mouth but when it comes time to spend they money for they artist they go in to hidding!!!

    • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

Exactly. And it is mainly Rihanna AKA the black girl selling that they attack are of s*** hatred and alluring envy.

      • nojet123 October 23, 2012

HA HA HA poor Brandy.. her stands are Sad and Blue… lmao… all that s*** talking about Monica.. but Monica sold more than little Brandy..lmao… this s*** is too funny… Monica is true to who she is …Not Brandy… maybe next time…LMAO

  12. Keith October 23, 2012

Her sales were 68k…then they dipped down by 2k…

I’m not taking HDD sales seriously…

    I’ll wait for Billboard/Soundscan

  13. Brandy fan October 23, 2012

Even though that’s low it’s still good considering they only expected 65,000 plus with it leaking days before it was released

    • vanny October 23, 2012

0_o so 1,856 copies more is good? lmfao!! u got issues sweaty..

  14. Kyle October 23, 2012

I could care less what it sold…I’m just happy Brandy put her all into this album and released one of the best R&B albums of the year. At this point, I feel like you get more recognition if your album debuts in the top 10 rather than how many copies you sell. I just did a little research and was interested to see that Monica’s “New Life” opened with 69,000 earlier this year. Both ladies sold about the same. It’s sad that R&B artists are struggling to move units these days but I feel like most people are in the same boat. Good work Brandy and Monica!!! I bought both your albums!

    • truth tea (take a sip) October 23, 2012

co-writing only 3 out of 15 tracks isnt “putting her all into the album”…

      • HOL UP October 23, 2012

Its not about the writing omg not every artists writes all of their songs on the album whitney didn’t write to many songs but because she could sing them like they were hers is what made her great just like brandy brandy didn’t have to write the songs to make you feel them

  15. B October 23, 2012

I thought Brandys album was really good!!! U n fortunate. People can’t recognize true music and talent these days

  16. T October 23, 2012

This is simple. Black people don’t support black music which is why many black artists are having to change it up to pick up the white audience. THIS IS FACT!

We download, leak or just simply don’t purchase.

Taylor Swift pushes 1 MILLION units first week. Jason Aldean, 400k. Even Adele. The fact is we don’t BUY but then we get MAD when our artists and our GENRE (see what Billboard has done with the R&B charts) is dying….!!

It just aggravates me. Seriously aggravates me! Because we put out GREAT TIMELESS MUSIC but we don’t support it!

    • Spilling Tea October 23, 2012

First of all i’m black and just because we’re from the same race dosen’t mena i have to suppot your music. at the end of the day it my taste and what i like cause you’re never catch me buying a nicki minaj CD js….i love rock music, r&b, pop etc but theres a selected few that i listen to from each gener regardless of whether they are black, white, asian etc etc and whose music i can relate to. i do agree that black people constantly bootleg music which is the main problem.

    • Booboo October 23, 2012

Dont get it f***** up. Black people usually earn far less and are on a lower economic tier than whites so have would have less expendable income to purchase extras like music and such. Fact.

      • Diva October 23, 2012

I dont agrree…. when u have ppl like 2 chainz an upcoming rapper selling more than a vet that been in the industry for over 20 yrs then that says something. Black ppl does by music but mainly hip hop. Her album should have been more put it down oppose to all those ballads.

    • @S_C_Jr October 23, 2012

I say this all the time! People may not want to hear it but everything you said is the TRUTH! Cost is not an issue. A single is 1.29 on iTunes and an album around $10-12. If y’all can spend more than that at McDonalds and on Chinese food, you can afford to PURCHASE music and support these artists. Common hater excuse: “They’re rich. They have money. I don’t need to buy their music.” WRONG! The music industry is a BUSINESS! Just like buying a car, clothes, etc. It’s all a business. I’m pretty sure when you want to buy RL, you don’t talk about how Ralph Lauren is rich. Stop being ignorant and cheap and buy the music. If not, then STFU when your fave FLOPS!

    • James227 October 23, 2012

I said this before the music industry wants white artists on top. Itunes is really a big scam you buy & buy and itunes be holding our money back or even put it on the white artists charts. One example Rihanna Diamonds never made it to #1 like her other songs..

    • LDC October 23, 2012

Get off your high horse. The changes Billboard made aren’t just with the R&B charts. They did the same thing with the Latin, Rock and Country charts too. Black people don’t support albums? Really? When Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Usher (at his peak), Ginuwine, etc., etc. were going multi-platinum, who do you think were the driving demographic behind those sales? Katy Perry had a trillion hits off of Teenage Dream and yet her album is only double platinum…and it took 2 years for THAT to happen. White people don’t buy albums, not really. They buy singles. F*** singles.

  17. Joseph Vryheid October 23, 2012

Maybe if the stans had a REAL job they’d be able to support their favs! Haha!

  18. MUSICHEAD October 23, 2012

The only thing that will kill this project is picking the wrong singles. Urban radio is already playing Do You Know so release that and send No Such Thing As Too Late to Pop radio. Thats a smash in he making. Let Me Go is NOT going to help this album sale.

    • HOL UP October 23, 2012

Thank youuu let me go is good but not single type good wtf do they want the girl to fail lmao

      • danny b October 23, 2012

maybe an urban promo single a la “Party” and “Dance For You”

  19. B**** YOU AIN’T NO BEYONCE STOP COUNTING DOWN TALKING ABOUT 3….2….1… KISS MY ASS October 23, 2012

Good first week sales and they call it a comeback??

  20. KingPhoenix October 23, 2012

Brandy’s album was great…those numbers are sad tbh…Smh….and Taylor swift can pull, 4 million in one day.!!! What is this world, coming to??!!!
SUPPORT GOOD MUSIC PEOPLE.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No share to Taylor, I’m just saying.!!

    • TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! October 23, 2012

Taylor cant sell 4 million in a day… even I would not boast that! haha

      • MiSSBawse October 23, 2012

GMA got that figure wrong. Taylor has already sold 4.5 Mil tracks off of Red and sold 500.000 albums on the VERY FIRST DAMN DAY!!! BOW!!

  21. KingPhoenix October 23, 2012

    *NO SHADE

  22. dub t October 23, 2012

Well…now we can officially say New Life sold more! #teammonica

    • Oskillz October 23, 2012

The sales figures for this week have been released and Monica’s “New Life” album managed to put up some solid numbers. The album lands at #5 with 65,653 copies sold.

      • jboogie October 23, 2012

70K according to soundscan b****. you mad? deal f**.

      • dub t October 23, 2012

Let’s be clear, New Life sold nearly 70k in its first week.

    • LDC October 23, 2012

Even if Monica did open with a tiny bit more, let’s not act like her numbers weren’t still atrocious. In the end, I’d be willing to bet that Two Eleven sells more than New Life.

  23. monstarebel October 23, 2012

Oh were is this b**** @IDK at thought you said brandy would sell over 100 k her first week muhahaha her ass couldn’t even reach 70 k you brandy stans are a f****** joke smh gon let this b**** flop harder than human wow!!!!

    • THEEBEST October 23, 2012

      LMFAO
in my shenehneh’s voice “thats not nice” HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
But Brandy fans really do go hard at other artists i guess they feel threatens brandy’s talent. They need to face it, the only people checkin for Brandy is them and her family.

      • monstarebel October 23, 2012

        yes exactly lol

  24. kweli69j October 23, 2012

that’s only in America though yeah?

  25. the real xoxo October 23, 2012

Not surprised. The album itself was okay, but i think alot of people would agree with me in saying that Brandy failed to make us think “i NEED that album”.

    • BOB October 24, 2012

disagree i needed the album so i bought it am not even a stan was just a dope rnb album best this year
i didnt need human that want good this is dope

    • Elvick November 2, 2012

I actually agree, but I bought the album day 1 anyway.

Put it Down is not a good song imo. And certainly not from Brandy. Chris Brown is lame.

Overall the album is good, but I liked Human more. I also find two songs (Put it Down and something else) really annoying. Which I’ve never had in any other Brandy album.

  26. I Judge Flops October 23, 2012

    I BOUGHT MY COPY

But let’s not pretend we didn’t know Brandy was going to flop. I hate to bring up Queen B but she is the reason why a lot of these R&B girls have such low self esteem and careers was over. Ashitty, Brandy, Toni, and so many other h*** just weren’t able to weather the Storm that was Beyonce. Especially during 2003 and beyond. Now I’m sure b****** will get mad and be like “why you gotta bring up Beyonce” but B**** that’s why Brandy is a flop.

Once you’ve experienced greatness, a tenor ass female just isn’t enough.

Still I love the album and I hope that she goes Double Trashbag within the next few weeks. Go Brandy!!!

    • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

And their low self esteem is why they lash out at Rihanna who, even at 17 , was blowing them away.

    • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

The reason she flopped has nothing to do with Beyonce. She flopped because she lagged with her promo up until this month. She also fails to reinvent herself musically. She should have released pop influenced urban tracks for the mainstream radio like Beyonce does (Irreplaceable, Love on Top, Countdown, Run the World etc).
I still respect her for staying true to her roots though.

      • My hip, my back October 23, 2012

        double trash bag? LMAOOOO

  27. Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

HA HA HA HA No wonder you are all mad at Rihanna. You blame her cos of the black singers, plus smelly old fart Rita Ora are all falling down like flies. RIhanna’s debut album debut at number 20 with 69 – YES MORE THAN BRANDY AND she was only 16 when they made that album. MOTS went gold in 4 months and sold 1.5 m plus it yieled multiplatinum hits and they call Rih at 17 a flop. How many black 17 years wold are going platinum? No, rih was and never has been a flop. BRANDY is a flop. Oh, the new album is dropping hardcore down the chart as we speak so she will not even be top 10 next week.

Never ever again use the word the flop and Rih’s name in the same sentence. Brandy is a flop. Shame, she does not deserve to flop like this. But……..well, you know! There can only be one black girl at the top. In Hollywood, it is Zoe Saldana getting all the work and now it is Rih. End of. She has been dropped twice, so the future does not look, and at nearly 35, she might wanna think things through.

    • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

People diss Diamonds, but Brandy would kill to have Diamonds. What worldwide hit came of this flop, which music of the sun outsold?

    • KingBey October 23, 2012

B****, you’re talking about an album that was released last week vs an album that was released 7 f****** years ago. And it’s only gold.
I Can list some 17 year olds that were going platinum
      *Kelly
      *Beyonce
      *Letoya
      *Latavia
      *Brandy
      *Monica
      *Aaliyah
      *LeAnn Rimes
      *Justin Bieber even went platinum
      *Taylor Swift
      What’s Rihanna’s excuse again?

    • BOB October 24, 2012

but while brandy is in the studio perfecting her craft and making good music

rihanna is getting f***** by every hollwood star smokking crack getting beaten by chris brown then goes back to him.. we no where this ends tina anybody??

rihanna a great role model wish my daughter grows up to be just like her NOT!!!!

      • JD October 24, 2012

Oh please! Brandy in the studio preparing a flop album!!! Rihanna is still slaying the charts!!

        “Diamonds” is a WW hit!

  28. FAF October 23, 2012

She STILL the legendary VOCAL BIBLE! PERIOD! 🙂

    • OOOP! October 23, 2012

You mean the So called Vocal Bible who is only heard by 66 thousand people? LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Poor THAT!

      • BOB October 24, 2012

and who u heard by?? even poorer dat ha

  29. Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

Brandy is not back in the court of public opinion, cos if she was, she would be number 1 with over 100k. It is the public who buy music, or did you not know that? You did not not that? Ask Rih, she will fill you in, fool.

    • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

Album 7 will flop eve harder and with what money are they gonna make album 7? It cos money for studios, big name producers and videos etc – and IF THERE ARE NO SALES, WHERE WILL THE MONEY COME FROM TO PAY FOR SEAN GARRET AND THAT? BRANDY COULD USE HER MONEY, BUT?

      She will be dropped. Again.

  30. MusicBoy October 23, 2012

I’m sure the album sales with have a consistent increase. Plus, it’s her 1st “comeback” album. It’s basically like a new artist coming out with their 1st album. We all know that 1st albums don’t sell that well during the 1st week. This album will allow them to see what works for her and what doesn’t. The next album will sell more because Brandy’s momentum is picking back up again.

I hate that people are so concerned with album sales and flop this and flop that. At the end of the day Brandy is getting paid and she’s still a brightly shining star int he industry regardless if she sales another album or not.

    • monstarebel October 23, 2012

      Lmao the excuses

      • Heavy Metal Lover October 23, 2012

        ikr

    • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

The album will not surge, it has dropped out of the Itunes top 10 as we speak, if you think it is gonna magically zoom to number 1, think again. And stop hiding behind smokes screens: brandy IS NOT A NEW ARTIST. She has been out for nearly 20 years and has sold platinum. Her failure is shameful. If she gets dropped ( or should I say WILL be dropped ) she only has to herself to blame. IT IS NOT HER IST ALBUM and she is not some new 17 year old.

Brandy is getting paid? LOL, well her label are NOT and we all know are labels drop you if THEY ( not you ) THEY ARE NOT MAKING MONEY. So LOL at brandy getting paid over her Label. The jokes is on you.

1st albums do sell well in week one…have you heard of a 17 year old named Britney Spears? She did over a mill in her week, with her debut. * waits for more excuses *

The reason why people are concerned with flop this and that, is cos the music industry is run by JEWS AND JEWS want their f****** money and if ya don’t bring their money – YOU ARE THE DOOR.

It is not personal. It is Business.

  31. monstarebel October 23, 2012

Flop city b**** I find it so funny thAt her stans thought she would sell over 100k tho muhahaha all this hype her fans did smh I can’t This got worst numbers than human hahahahahahahahahahahaha….

    • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

Fake b****. I thought u said you were gonna buy the CD.
      Hmmm

      • monstarebel October 23, 2012

never said that h** I said the album was good I don’t care for brandy enough to spend the Money I work hard for on her

    • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

      • monstarebel October 23, 2012

  32. RENEGADE October 23, 2012

    Grats, Brandy!

  33. OOOP! October 23, 2012

Where are all of the “starz” who were so quick to shade Monica’s ‘New Life’ Album sales, where are they? Where are the “starz” who were so quick to brag when the early predictions came in? Ki @ the “starz” being on s****** watch now that the woman they worship not only have another flop alberm under her discography, but 3 in a row. ROOOOOOFL! Brandy will always be local and an after though in this music industry. Her fame died when Moesha was canceled. It must her for the “starz” to see their fav flop yet again and be ignored by awards and award shows that matter. Brandy will never again perform on the AMAs, Grammys, VMAs, EMAs, The Voice, X factor, American Idol…she is only limited to the local gigs and shows. Poor Trandy and her 66k “starz” =( The Big Name Girls will forever remain unbothered by this ShouldaCouldaWoulda Hasbeen Flop.

    • JD October 24, 2012

Lmfao!!!!!!! Go in b****!!!! Go in!!!!

    • Elvick November 2, 2012

Shut up. Just as I was telling those turds who were trashing Monica and acting like Brandy would sell a trillion in a minute.

There’s no reason to pit female artists against each other.

R&B is on the decline, and if you people were actually fans of the genre, you would try to SUPPORT the artists trying to keep it alive. Instead of supporting one artist and trashing the rest

You and those like you make me sick.

Preordered the Fan Edition of New Life with my name in the thank yous. Bought Brandy’s new album. Will buy Keyshia Cole’s new album. And Ashanti, and countless other albums by talented women.

      Haters. smh

  34. theman October 23, 2012

Bullshyt if this site ain’t biased. Brandy is re-emerging, so these are decent sales. But had this been Mariah/Rihanna Sam would have been acting like a groupie, saying how this is a flop and so forth. This site is very delusional. Her label just have to stay with this album. It’s a very good album.

  35. christinastherealtalent October 23, 2012

I knew sales wise that this album would flop. Once an album has been pushed back the first time, people start to lose interest and thinking the material isn’t worth their money. When it keeps getting pushed back, 65k is what happens when able veteran artist is trying to make a comeback. Nice chart placement though!

    • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

Oh dear, Rita Ora album was pushed back to next year.

    • RymeReason October 24, 2012

People let album sales determine whether they like the album or not. Do you know how many times I have heard, “That album flopped on the charts and sold nothing, that album SUCKS!” Album sales do not reflect the quality of the music. It’s so pathetic. I am pretty pleased with the R&B genre this year. Obviously there are a select few artists who achieve mainstream success in R&B, but I like to dig a little bit deeper and just appreciate REAL R&B MUSIC. Thanks you Brandy, Melanie Fiona, Elle Varner, Emeli Sande, Monica, Estelle, SWV, and many more who released quality R&B album this year. They are keeping the genre alive!!!

  36. That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

I knew this is how much it would sell. I dont really listen to Brandy but im glad she’s taking more steps to promoting this album. I thought she did a really good job performing on Kelly & Michael last week.
Her start was rocky and I hope it gets better for her.
Please support YOUR RnB faves. I remember a few people saying they were gonna buy 2/11 a few months ago and now those same people are calling her a flop.
    SMH @ You fake h***.

    • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

Music of the sun from 17 yr old Rih sold 69 k. She sold more. Right?

      • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

Pardon? Did I say anything about Rihfund?

      • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

Yeah, you do b****. But I have waited to sting you. And I have. You mad that Brandy failed and Rih wins? Good!

    • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

I dont care for Brandy as I said up above. Learn to read you illiterate h**.
      You really tried though.

      • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

Alanis Moristte has a debut album sell more than Adele. Where is she now? Madonna has reigned for decades. Can adele? Both Britney’s first 2 LP were diamond. She has sold 100 mill in less than a decade.

  37. BEYONCE’S WEAVE October 23, 2012

This seals it, RnB is dead and absolutely no one is forcing these artists to release RnB so they are not getting any sympathy from me. I like Two Eleven but I knew that album would perform this low because unless it’s rap, black people are not buying music. RnB was once hot in the 90s just like disco was hot in the 80s but times change, time to let it go and maybe considering perusing a rap career or simply go pop. You want get any judgement from me because unlike the delusional ones who still want to cling on to RnB, I understand that music is your job and this is how you pay the mortgage, bills…etc. I guess we can rule out the arena tour then eh?

    • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

I agree with everything you have said. Kendrick Lamer is doing well. His debut LP is top 5 in UK, Germany and USA – When did he get all this buzz? I love swimming pools. Dope ass song.

      • Beyonce’s Weave October 23, 2012

Exactly, rap is still selling, how come? What happened to RnB? Did it simply get unimaginative?

    • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

Why abandon RnB for pop? Pop may be golden child of the radio now but it will die in a few years too. The way people ate up Adele’s music just proves that people are getting tired of it. I give dance pop no more than 5 years before its death.

      • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

POP will never die. In any country. POP is way bigger than the dance trend.

      • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

Unitll adele out sells Britney or even the spice girls. Pop will never die. Last time I checked, Madonna, Spice, Backsreet boys and Brit have are outsold Adele. I will be look at adele to see if she can touch Brit’s 100 mill in less than a decade or will she be another Alanis morrisette.

      • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

Adele sold over 20 million CD’s worldwide and won 8 Grammy’s in one night. Britney is a has been. Nobody knows the names of the Spice Girls except for Victoria and Mel. Where are the Backstreet boys today? And lastly nobody can deny Madonna’s success but she’s trying too hard to stay relevant with all these young cats. To say pop will never die is absurd. There’s a musical revolution every few years. First it was swing music, then jazz and the blues, then soul music, then disco, then the age of classic rock, then RnB and rap, now followed by europop. This music will not be here forever. Just because you have no problem listening to microwave music doesn’t don’t

      • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

        Doesn’t mean others dont*

      • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

Alanis Moristte has a debut album sell more than Adele. Where is she now? Madonna has reigned for decades. Can adele? Both Britney’s first 2 LP were diamond. She has sold 100 mill in less than a decade.

You are very dumb and stupid. Brit was breaking records at 18. You cling to adele, but she will fade out like Norah Jones. In no way is adele A sade. Adele will never sell at 50. POP stands for popular music, and whatever is popular will LIVE I listen to Sade, Abbba, Queen acts why cant dare try and diss, with your nappy ass ghetto self. Come At Queen if you dare, h**.

      • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

Nappy headed like your fave? No sorry child, I was blessed with good curly hair. I dont have to resort to weaves or chemical straighteners.
Ghetto? Nope. Wrong again. Full time student in college, major in nursing.
I dont care about has beens like Britney and Madonna. Next.
Fact is pop music thats popular now will die out. Whether you like it or not.
        You’re dismissed fugly h**.

      • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

        @ Kelly…ermmm ok.
Im studying to be a CRNA not an RN but you have to start somewhere. Secondly im not gonna come for LEGENDS like Queen and Sade. I wasn’t talking about LEGENDS that excelled in music. I was talking about the gimmicks running to the EUROPOP/DANCE POP/ELECTROPOP bandwaggon. Can you stay on topic? I dont expect much from a Rihanna fan.
Dont talk back to your superior. I’ll dismiss you the same way I dismiss my adorable 8 month old puppy….go doggy.
        Bye now.

      • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

Just stating facts, which clearly you cant handle.
So you really tried once again.

    • Ayo October 23, 2012

R&B has been hot way before the 90’s tho, it’s gone through many a decade

      • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

I have one better than you. I am blonde like my Swedish parent and My parents are uber affluent. If pop music dies, so will adele fat ass Adele. So your now dismissed, u f****** ugly h** nappy h** ( curly dark hair is nappy) Unless you have blonde waves like me – YOUR HAIR IS NAPPY!

Nursing? How ghetto. I have cousins who are doctors and specialist in Hospitals and you are just tralier trash nurse. Ok nig! Madonna and Brit have achieved more than YOUR FAVES whether you like it or not.

Rihanna is selling – so kill yourself cos that is the only way you can escape her global impact.

        * Sips champagne and reads the Financial times*

      • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

Yes! I am waiting for you to come at my all time faves: Sade, Queen and Abba. Bring it, h**! Come at these legends , if you dare!

    • Lil’ Kim October 23, 2012

You sound so ignorant and have obviously been brainwashed. This is what record labels want you to think so that you can invest your money in pop. but it doesnt matter how well things sell, people want music that they can CONNECT TO.

Brandy keep doing your thing because Two Eleven means a lot to many of your fans. Brandy doesnt care about sales, she doesnt even need the money. Its you broke h*** who are concerned.

      • Beyonce’s Weave October 23, 2012

Going by the figures. The numbers speak for themselves. No point burying your head in the sand.

    • Elvick November 2, 2012

I’d say it’s more the deluded view of R&B that’s the issue.

Many people who love R&B from the 90s and early 2000s b**** that good music is dead or ask “where is blah”…. who happens to still be releasing good music.

And if you point out the fact that they’re delusional and incapable of seeing what’s there, and having a rose tended view of the past being perfect… they deny it and refuse to even try to look into music out now.

People are delusional. Even good pop acts who remain have the same problem. They don’t make pop in the overproduced, too much auto-tune way, and their “fans” from the past are too busy living in the past to see their present.

  38. Talk That S***! October 23, 2012

excuse me , but who’s monica ? serious question :rolling:

  40. King Maestro October 23, 2012

OK SO RIDDLE ME THIS. When has an albums success been solely determined on FIRST WEEK SALES? Back in the good old days great albums rarely debuted at #1. The album was released and the artist had to work to get the album up the charts. Like someone mentioned Trey Songs Album debuted at #1 and look where its at now… NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. I mean lets be real. If she works the singles on this album, because there are a lot to choose from because the album is actually GREAT, then Im sure she can rise up the charts. However if she thought like some of you then I guess the album would just die. Today’s industry is different yes but the work ethic must remain the same, drop the single, drop the album, drop more singles, do shows, and keep the album alive. Whitney Houston would be singing songs from one album for 3 years and none of her album were flops. So Im confused at some of you guys’ thinking. Its not about the 1st WEEK SALES its about the LONGEVITY of the project. JUST FOOD FOR THOUGHT

    • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

Brandy LP is sliding down itunes, so you theory only applies to Rih, who may not get a number 1 in the USA, but her sales are high ( outsells many number 1’s ) and she had Crazy longevity – she can sit on the charts for a whole year – globally. Her album never get PUSHED BACK. EVER Dont try and call Rih a flop, when all these fuckers are flopping so hardcore.

      • sockpuppet October 23, 2012

yeah, but how many videos do rihaana have to make, incase u dont know videos on the cheap are 50k
she relases 10 every album, i rather go gold with 3 video releses, she just makes them to have the bragging rights that them garbage albums went platnium

    • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

I love your opening statement. So does that Rih not having a number 1 LP in the USA is a good thing? Errrrr Brandy is not Whitney in terms of fame or voice, so, dont try it!

  41. JAKE October 23, 2012

I DROVE MY ASS TO THE VIRGIN MEGASTORE LAST WEEK THURSDAY AND BOUGHT MYSELF A COPY………….. BUT!!!

It was inevitable that Brandy was going to FLOP.

Sadly, despite only releasing her last album in 2008, she should have known about the current musical shift, even the shift within R’n’B music, and adapted herself to that sound.

That doesnt mean that she should’ve jumped on the Pop, Dance, Electronic trend but I honestly believe that if her album, on her lead single, was more POP leaning or she had collaborated with a rapper who was and is making waves at that moment – Lil Wayne, Drake, 2 Chainz etc… Hell, even Nicki.

Then again… It’s a shame that artist have to compromisr their TRUE sound in favour of popular music formats. But, thats the nature of staying RELEVANT and well known. And I’m sorry to bring up BEYONCE but, even though her last album FLOPPED (I am a Bey stan whi isn’t afraid to admit that) – Brandy’s name is no longer THAT and she doesnt have the current strength that Bey has with her name in order to sell… Even though, in musicality terns, Bey’s albun is relative to that of Two Eleven.

But, whatever, lets hope the album doesnt fall of the charts too soon.

    GO BRANDY!!!

@ Jake, I understand what you’re saying and I respect your comment b/c you seem level headed, but did you actually EXPECT this album to move huge numbers?

      I didn’t.

& I completely disagree with you that she should’ve collaborated with a popular rapper or that she should’ve compromised her music to “possibly” move more units. Then, I WOULD”NT have purchased this album. I bought this great album BECAUSE it sounds like a “Brandy” album.

I’m a Bey fan too & I love “4” BECAUSE she finally released an album that she wanted to release: sales be damned. It is currently my favorite in her discography.

However, in terms of the music business & what that brutal business requires of artists, your sentiments are probably correct. I’m just happy that Brandy took the road of artistic integrity and gave us a beautiful album.

    • RUDE NAVY October 23, 2012

that what i always say everytime any R&B artist struggle to move units.

      ACCOMMODATE.

  42. BitchICan’tEvenSpellWelfare October 23, 2012

First of all, why we are talking about Monica and Kelly on a Brandy post? She is friends with BOTH of them. They ALL respect each other.

in terms of the sales of “Two Eleven,” I do.not.care. I have my copy and I’m loving it. I ONLY stan for quality and she has shat effortlessly on 2/3 of the b******* released this year being hailed as “epic.” True music fans know this.

Anyway, *back* to the brilliant “Hardly Breathing.”

    • Rozell October 24, 2012

      Love Hardly Breathing!

  43. Elijah October 23, 2012

Love let me go but PLEEEAAASSSEEE Brandny don’t release that as a single at all, do you know will be a perfect follow up to WD that or without you!

  44. Jeff October 23, 2012

    • monstarebel October 23, 2012

Girl Sam is the most negative f** on this site all you b****** are haters at some point, smh but it’s ok nobody’s fav is safe deal

  45. RUDE NAVY October 23, 2012

the album good , first week sales don’t mean s*** , R&B is dead , BLACK ARTISTS are not lucky or supported enough to be #1 or even sell a respectful amount of copies of their albums , making a comeback in this industry is the hardest thing to do nowadays , do not ever take a break or even to think about it , you will be forgotten , now i understand what rihanna is doing !!! smart c***. RESPECT.

so those are the facts every f*****’ person in this post should know by now.

and i disagree , “what you need” should be the next single , it just go well with the theme of ” put it down” and has a potential to get some love from pop fans who like R&B to a lil extent.

at this point , brandy should pull a “swift” , release as many singles as she can and find what sticks the most with ppl and call them ” buzz/promo” singles !

    • RUDE NAVY October 23, 2012

“wish your love away” can be a hit too , in the R&B charts at least ad it is kind of the track you would expect from brandy.

    • TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! October 23, 2012

Yes she should pull a swift and learn from the master;)

      • RUDE NAVY October 23, 2012

taylor is a lucky girl , it is not the case with brandy , i think you know that scott , don’t u ?

      • TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! October 23, 2012

Yes I know Taylor is lucky to have a lot of loyal fans. But she’s not been given those fans. She’s earn their support through her great music.

      • uknowhat October 25, 2012

The ONLY REASON TAYLOR IS SUCCESSFUL IS because WHITE FANS ACTUALLY SUPPORT artists… They generally are more loyal than black RNB fans.. period point blank

  46. Rosh October 23, 2012

And yall call my beloved kelly rowland a flop? Ooh chile!

    • uknowhat October 25, 2012

umm KELLY is a FLOP!! she in NO WAY has the Resume or history of Brandy, she has over 50 million albums, Kelly only like 100k maybe.

  47. Peter Griffin October 23, 2012

Ouch! I hope RCA don’t drop her. She needs to go more pop on the next album cause her fans aren’t bringing in them figures. I think it’s official now, R&B’s dead!

  48. Mark October 23, 2012

What did y’all think was gonna happen? 200K? If Usher, USHER only do a lil over 100K and Chris Brown with top ten Pop hits and Justin Beiber was the highest with only 300k, why did y’all think that Brandy, a R&B artist to do more without a top 10? Music changed and will forever change. What’s hot now will be cold in 5 years. My thing is, why do labels and artist stop promoting after the 1st week and only start promo the week of the album? What happened to pushing the album for at least a year? Aaliyah One in a Million did less then 30k in it’s first week, did you know a year later it did 2M? You have to support an album. If you only care about first weeks sells, then that how long your album will be hot. I know a lot of people who don’t buy albums until at least a 3rd single.

    • Ayo October 23, 2012

Completely agree, I just feel like Brandy and her label, have to milk this album for all its worth, it may take a while but if the work is put in, slowly but surely the units will shift themselves, there’s already a lot of word of mouth on the album, singles just have to be selected smartly. I think she should release two singles nxt one that is for the urban market and one that can cross over and, just keep on promoting, it’s a great body of work that no one should sleep on.

    • Mob…… October 23, 2012

      PREACH MARK!!

R&B sells differently and always has. I actually have a 4 song minimum. I must like 4 or more before I buy from a random act. Those I like I try to purchase their CD 1st week as I know the stress that’s being applied to them to meet some mythical bullsh** 1 week sells goal!

    • sockpuppet October 23, 2012

promoting a flop album is like putting gas in your car with a leak in your tank
brandy, im pretty sure put it down was her best song on the record so her sales will max out at 100k unless she can pull a hit out her rump
      here’s a little studio econs
      100k * 10 bucks a pop is 1 million dollars gross
50 percent is for taxes about
      500k is left
producers, songwriters and cris brown must be paid
      200k is left
the record lable must be paid
      100k is left
touring and promo cost like hair and makeup
50k is left for brandy if she’s lucky
so what dummy on here says sales dont matter, people dont releases records just so you can get your jollies

    • uknowhat October 25, 2012

Mark you are Correct! first week sales especailly in RNB mean Nothing! Rnb does not on whole sale like Country and PoP anymore however over time im sure she will see an increase as she takes it around the world because her album is honestly on of the best RNB albums to come out this year…

    • Elvick November 2, 2012

Missy Elliott has talked about this. How you used to have plenty of time to promote your album, and you had time between albums before the fanbase was thirsty for a new album.

Now an album comes out, and a couple weeks after people want something new.

      People have ADD.

Missy explained it better. It’s some interview on youtube about her next album.

  49. Geezy October 23, 2012

Folks and Sam let’s stop acting like OG Brandy didn’t get good promo and Put It Down has been killing urban radio as well as crossing over to pop. The reason sells are this low is because the Brandy train has derailed since Full Moon. Other then B, Rih none of these other urban/pop have a chance period!!

  50. ENOUGH ONIKA October 23, 2012

Still proud of her and I still love the album! Like Sam said, this ins’t bad for a straight R&B album with no compromise. Amazing music none the less!

WHAT IS IMPORTANT, IS THAT SHE DEBUTED IN THE TOP (5).. SHE HAS A SOLID ALBUM PACKED WITH POTENTIAL SINGLES.. RCA AS WELL AS BRANDY HAVE THE FUNDS TO PUSH AT LEAST THREE MORE SINGLES WITH VIDEO TREATMENT.. BRANDY HAS BEEN GONE FOR FOUR YEARS.. 65;00 ISN’T AMAZING.. BUT IT’S A GREAT START THIS IS BRANDY’S SEVENTH ALBUM.. AND HAS SOLD OVER 40 MILLON RECORDS.. THE FIRST BLACK CINDERELLA AND A SLEW OF OTHER THINGS!! BEYONCE DOES WELLL BECAUSE SHE HAS A LOT OF HYPE AND DROPS A RECORD EVERY ABOUT.. THIS ALBUM WILL DO VERY WELL THEY NEED TO CONTINUE TO PUSH AND PROMOTE.. THIS IS NOT A FLOP BY ANY MEANS.. AND ONLY AN IDIOT WOULD THINK IT DICTATES THAT!!

    • monstarebel October 23, 2012

Chart position means nothing clearly if an album with those kinda numbers reach number 3

The 40 million came from her time at atlantic. There is no money in the music game anymore. RCA will drop her. She made no money. Brandy, might just have to use her won funds. Cos RCA have no money, and the money they have is not gonna be wasted on her, when there are other acts on the label who deserve and require attention. Stop resting on past laurels. Who cares what she done 15 years ago, we want results now!

      • cvt October 23, 2012

@RBM… SO RIDDLE ME THIS, I STATE STATS AND FACTS BECAUSE THEY DO MATTER.. VERY MUCH SO INDEED.. SO, WHEN YOU APPLY FOR A NEW JOB OR PLANNING TO MAKE YOUR NEXT MOVE IN BUSINESS.. WHAT DO YOU SUBMIT?!?!!? UR RESUME… Y? BECAUSE IT INDICATES YOUR HISTORY, AND YOUR WORK ETHIC AND WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED… WHICH INDICATES WHAT YOU HAVE DONE.. AND YOUR EXPERINCE… WE ALL KNOW THAT BRANDY’S ALBUMS WHETHER IT BE AFRO, OR HUMAN.. BOTH CRUSH ALL THAT BEYONCE AND RHIANNA HAVE EVER PUT FORWARD.. BUT, RHIANNA TAKES OFF HER CLOTHES, AND WAS IN A SERIOUS UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT WITH CHRIS BROWN.. SO PEOPLE TEND TO FEEL SORRY FOR HER.. SHE IS NOT AN ARTIST TO ME AT ALL, AND CAN’T SING A LICK.. AND WE ALL KNOW HER GIRL GONE BAD… WAS HEAVILY INFLUNCED BY BRANDY’S AFRO.. BEYONCE.. DROPS AN ALBUM ALMOST EVERY YEAR.. AND IS HEAVILY SUPPORTED BY THE FACT THAT SHE IS INVOLVED WITH JAY Z.. AS WELL AS RHIANNA BEING APART OF ROC NATION.. WHOM HAS HELD IT DOWN (THE ROC) FOR SOME TIME.. BEYONCE SELLS NOTHING BUT S**.. A LOT OF US WANT GREAT MUSIC.. WITH TASTE.. AND SLIGHT S** APPEAL.. WE ALL KNOW BEYONCE’S (4) WAS HER BEST BUT STILL DOESN’T HOLD A CANDLE TO ANYTHING THAT BRANDY HAS PUT OUT..AND MAY I REMIND YOU HOW THEY BOTH HAVE RUSHED TO WORK WITH BRANDY’S PAS PRODUCER.. THAT SHE PUT ON THE MAP “DARKCHILD” SO, PLEASE DON’T STATE THIS IS A FLOP. AND, I LOVE MONICA, BUT, HOW MANY SINGLES DID MONICA RELEASE PRIOR TO THE RELEASE OF HER ALBUM? (3) AND I LOVE THAT ALBUM!! BEYONCE.. SHOOTS A TON OF LESS THEN FAVORABLE VIDEOS BECAUSE SHE IS UNCEARTIN AS TO WHAT WILL DO WELL? WHICH. MAY BE A SMART TACTIC ON HER BEHALF.. HOWEVER; DOESN’T SCREAM SHE IS ONE HUNDRED PERCENT CERTAIN AS TO WHAT WILL DO WELL AND WHAT WILL NOT? I AM NOT HATING JUST STATING THE FACTS.. AND I DON’T THINK EITHER ONE OF THEM HAVE SOLD 40 MILLION RECORDS (ALONE) I MAY BE INCORRECT. BUT, I DON’T CARE TO CONFIRM..
SOME OF THE THINGS I AM READING REGARDING HER BEING DARK SKINNED AND THAT BEING THE REASON IS JUST SAD, ECSP IN 2012 CONSIDERING OUR FIRST LADY IS “DARK SKIN”.. IF YOU WILL,, BRANDY, IF YOU ARE READING THIS KEEP PROMOTING AND RELEASING.. AND WHILE YOU ARE TOURING .. KEEP GETTING BACK IN THE STUDY AND STAY RECORDING.. ONCE, THIS ALBUM IS FINISHED PROMOTING DROP AN EP.. OR BE PREPEARED TO RELEASE ANOTHER ALBUM SOON BECAUSE, IN THIS DAY AND AGE.. U CAN’T WAIT TWO AND FOUR YEARS TO RELEASE AN ALBUM.. AFTER FULL MOON U TOOK TIME AND THAT’S WHEN YOU LET BEYONCE WALK IN LOL?!?! AND GOD KNOWS HOW RHIANNA BECAME SO SUCCESSFUL?!?! SHE IS A HORRID SINGER.. GREAT MODEL HORRID SINGER.. B, YOU WERE HERE BEFORE ALL THESE GIRLS AND PAVED THE WAY.. REMEMBER THAT.. AND IF YOU RELEASE SINGLES IN THIS ORDER YOU CAN MAKE A CONTINUED COME BACK
        1) PUT IT DOWN
        2) WILDEST DREAMS
        3) SO SICK
        4) LET ME GO/AND NO SUCH THING AS TOO LATE (SAME TIME/DUAL ACTION)
BY TTHIS TIME YOU SHOULD BE ALREADY IN THE STUDIO AND RECORDING SEVERAL TRACKS.. AND GET BANGLEDESH/SEAN GARRET/TIMBALAND/ANDRODNEY JERKINS ON THE NEXT ALBUM.. COLLECTIVLEY
AND, YOU DON’T NEED TO RECORD ANYTHING WITH BEYONCE.. IT’S CLEAR YOU CAN GARNER A CURRENT RADIO SMASH W/O HER!! DO SOMETHING WITH KELLY!!

  53. TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! October 23, 2012

According to her label, Big Machine Records, “Red” bolted out of the starting gate with 262,000 copies sold the first day on iTunes alone.

Big Machine noted that the record went to No. 1 on iTunes’ all-genre Top Albums chart just 36 minutes after it was released at 12:01 a.m. Monday. The label also said “Red” was responsible for more than 4½ million individual iTunes song downloads to date in the U.S. Swift’s song “Everything Has Changed” also shot to No. 1 on iTunes’ Top Songs chart, one of 13 tracks from the album to reach the chart’s Top 20.

    • TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! October 23, 2012

Worldwide, Red reached #1 at iTunes on the first day of release in 32 countries, including the UK, Australia, Singapore, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Denmark, Venezuela, Thailand, and Ireland.

    • TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! October 23, 2012

Taylor is slaying so much.. so proud of Taylor:)

      Says on te billboard website…

According to industry sources, first-day sales for “Red” (Monday, Oct. 22) surpassed 500,000 units.

      • Mary Mary Why You Buggin October 23, 2012

Not sure exactly WHY you’re here but since you are, riddle me this….Haven’t you noticed that music critics RARELY talk about how GREAT Taylor’s voice is, or how GREAT her musicianship is?

You wanna know why. It’s ALL smoke and mirrors. VERY clever marketing. & hats off to Taylor’s huge budget that goes into convincing people that she’s the second coming. But not everyone is fooled dear.

        * Looks for Emmylou Harris’ ‘Red Dirt Girl’ CD *

And if you don’t know who Emmylou Harris, learn who your fave can NEVER be.

      • MiSSBawse October 23, 2012

@Mary Mary On but CRITICS HAVE BEEN Praising Taylor’s voice and musical growth on Red. Check your facts boo boo. You can try to discredit her, but all her SONGWRITING BMI Awards for her great Lyrics tell me differently. She produces, she writes, she creates and it relates to many ppl regardless of age or race. When will YOUR FAVE?

    • Mary Mary Why You Buggin October 23, 2012

@MiSSBawse, again, very few critics cite Taylor’s voice as extraordinary or great. They have called it “good.” And in an age where Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, and Katy Perry have, too, been praised for their “musical growth,” I, no doubt, understand why you would think this was a compliment to Taylor. In other words, I’m looking around at her contemporaries who are receiving the same praise (who I just named) and I remain unimpressed.

If Taylor’s fans remained a bit more humble, people would not have to remind you how trite, hackneyed, predictable, and uninteresting she is. If you all didn’t do this, we could all simply enjoy her limited offerings in peace. But when you insist of how spectacular she is, someone has to call b******* and today that someone is me. However, congratulations to Taylor on “Red,” it’s set to do record numbers.

Finally, in terms of my fav, already Legendary and Iconic so there is no need.

      *Muah*

      • MiSSBawse October 23, 2012

@Mary Mary You’re missing the point. There are periods when I feel like listening to vocal acrobatics and there are times I just want to listen to something chill/relaxing.

No, Taylor does not have a powerhouse of a voice but she never claimed to have WONDERFULM, MAGICAL GREAT VOICE and her style of music does not require all those voca acrobatics. Her soft voice(which imo matches her music) put to relatblelyrics and catchy melody may be he ‘greatest’ thing to someone because it’s the way the ong makes them feel.

Music is subjective. Who tf cares what critics say? For me, great lyrics are what makes a song, a great song. You can have the greatest voice in the world, but if you have s***** writers/lyrics, then you won’t be getting any of my damn money. Long ass story…but I’m just saying. 😀

      • MiSSBawse October 23, 2012

Plus you already said of your fave ” Shes “already Legendary and Iconic so there is no need” Your just doing the samething that your accusing Taylor fans off.

how come dark skin is not cool??? Is it because of what the media is feeding u??? is it because the black females who r out is bleaching their skin and wearing blonde wigs?? what is it??? is it because black women r not portrayed as beauty?? or is it simply because ur brain washed???

    • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

Unlike Rita Ora flop. Cassie Flop and Christina Millian flop. Dark skin Brandy wont be pampered as a flop. Once a dark girl flops it is a rap. Unlike Rita and these light girls who get chance after chance after chance

    • Jace October 23, 2012

Please leave the color issue alone. Brandy is not that dark anyway. Plenty of light skinned women have fallen off MYA, Keke Wyatt, Tamia. come on it is about talent. and clearly on this album brandy did not use hers.

      • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

how many dark skin women are A list movie stars or pop singers in the year 2012?

      • Elvick November 2, 2012

Tamia has talent for days and Beautiful Surprise is wonderfully done R&B. Mya is great too, K.I.S.S. is a great blend of everything that Mya fans should love about her.

Both of these women are independent artists. They’re not backed by a label at all.

Not sure about Keke’s label status, but she’s talented as hell too.

    • UMo October 23, 2012

  59. BitchICan’tEvenSpellWelfare October 23, 2012

Wait, wait, wait…so the answer to R & B’s sale woes is for the artist to go pop?

Don’t we have one of the biggest R & B artists in the world, Usher, attempting that move right now with “Looking 4 Myself.” This album has not even moved 400,000 units in the US yet and this is coming from an artist who has a diamond album featuring R & B music. Side note: the R & B songs on “Looking 4 Myself” slaughter his pop songs on the album.

The fact of the matter is quality music generally fails in the mainstream with few exceptions. Also, R & B music is simply not apart of the mainstream music landscape anymore. I, however, do.not.care. This year has seen PHENOMENAL R & B releases: Dawn Richard’s “Armor On,” Frank Ocean’s “channel/Orange,” “Miguel’s “Kaleidoscope Dream,” and now Brandy’s “Two Eleven” …among others. I couldn’t be more pleased. And yes, I bought all of them.

    • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

You forgot to mention former RnB artists like Ne-Yo and Chris Brown have been stuggling to push units as well ever since they went pop.

      • BitchICan’tEvenSpellWelfare October 23, 2012

@That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall), absolutely! Yet, POP is supposed to be the answer….hmmmm.

      • Mob…… October 23, 2012

        WHAT?

You obviously don’t know what you are talking about! Chris Brown is the only artists I know in R&B that has an active RACIST WHITE & STUPID ASS BLACK MEDIA campaign against him. His music has been consistant across 3 CDs now. He has a perfect blend of sounds from the genre’s her enjoys. I see nothing worng with that. Also, I’m tired of you ppl’s lack of knowledge about the range and depth of R&B’s roots. R&B ranges from Marvin Gaye to the OJays. From Al Green to Paraliment Funkadeleic. R&B has never been a 1 DIMENSIONAL GENRE!

      • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

You’re right Mobwife. RnB isn’t one dimensional but RnB doesn’t sound like “yeah 3x”, “forever”, “dont wake me up”, etc. Chris’ last album performed better than Fortune. Clearly theres a link between former RnB singers making pop music and music sales. I bought Fortune and tbh I skipped over most of the songs. I don’t like the CD at all. Going pop doesn’t always ensure success and Chris abandoned his core fanbase.

      • Rihanna black madonna October 23, 2012

One direction are pop and them dudes made £100 mil in a year. Now what H**? Pop does not die – there will always be a POP boyband shitting you and your faves. The osmonds, backstreet boys, take that, nysync, Mew kids on the block and Onde direction, and in 50 years there will be another group of white boys running the game.

That debunks your pop. Pop, Rock and Country will NEVER EVER DIE.

      • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

As I said, it wont be now but eventually the pop music thats popular now (europop, electropop, etc) will die out. You clearly dont understand anything about music. Was music the same way it was 100 yrs ago? No. Do we still listen to swing, jazz, blues, or disco on mainstream radio. No. They have all died out the same way electro and dance pop will.

    • Diva October 23, 2012

  60. You are beautiful October 23, 2012

What would it take to bring rnb back to life. It’s truly on life support. Noone is excited enough to go pick up the album. i think Trey songs and Frank Ocean and chris brown (even though he sings so much pop s*** now and he lost a lot of sales too) are making moves when it comes to album sales.

Im not a huge brandy fan, not one at all actually, but Rihannas fans have some nerve. These are the most annoying fans on earth, just like their idol. Always attacking other artists. They are delusional and think Rihanna cares so much about them. I even saw one type, “we as far as one of Rihannas singles” Makes me think she pays people to post on message boards for her just like she pays for her twitter, facebook, writers, and number 1 singles.

Truth!!!!! Everyone want to talk about blacks not supporting instead of talking about the root of the problem smh

  64. @S_C_Jr October 23, 2012

People may not want to hear it but the TRUTH is urban fans aka “ethnic people” DO NOT SUPPORT! Cost is not an issue. A single is 1.29 on iTunes and an album around $10-12. If y’all can spend more than that at on Chinese food and cigarettes, you can afford to PURCHASE music and support these artists. Common excuse: “They’re rich. They have money. I don’t need to buy their music.” WRONG! The music industry is a BUSINESS! Just like buying a car, clothes, etc. It’s all a business. I’m pretty sure when you want to buy RL so you can impress people who don’t like you, you don’t talk about how rich Ralph Lauren is. Stop being ignorant and cheap and buy the music. If not, then STFU when your fave FLOPS!

    • ddluvmusic30 October 31, 2012

So ethnic people r the only ones not buying albums????

      • Elvick November 2, 2012

        Racism ftw. 😀

  65. IrritatedSouthAfrican October 23, 2012

Stop acting like fools. So what if one artist sells more than the other? The way you people kick and scream you’d swear that the profits from your favourite’s album sales will be deposited into your bank accounts. Why are you such angry bitter people? I just don’t get it. Brandy should tour S.A. We don’t do any of this nonsense. Ridiculous!

  66. GAslickmouf October 23, 2012

    F*** 1single. she needs 2singles

    Do you know

    And

    Hardly Breathing!

This is not so bad because the album sales whr really frm word of mouth!

    Hardly breathing

These 2songs will push the album over the top.

Still no video to wildest dreams smh WTF!!

Her team is not aggressive enough at all.
Lets get 2singles and push this album!

    Damn wtf!!!

    • Rozell October 24, 2012

With you on this. We are humans are VERY VISUAL BEINGS. We need to see something in order to connect with it. If I told you that I was 10 months pregnant and you did nto see my big belly, would you believe me? NO lol. Videos connect people to songs.

  67. Speaks Truth October 23, 2012

Well I’m not surprised BUT she needs to pull a Beyonce, start having a messy compaign, release SINGLES and PERFORM them everywhere so that folks will just BUY your ALBUM and get your NAME OUT THERE…. PULL SOME STUNTS!!! Remix some songs or get a popular rapper/singer to star in your video with you, do not let this album flop, do your video in 3D just do something, no low budget videos and perform perform perform, I don’t care if you have to perform each song in your backyard bedroom in front of a mirror with an iPhone 5 HD Camera with some effects, B**** PERFORM AND GET YOUR NAME OUT THERE TO PULL PEOPLE IN!!! F*** TWITTER AND FACEBOOK they FAKE PEOPLE JUST RAMBLING ALONG!! MAKE A REMIX TO ONE OF YOUR SONGS AND TURN IT POP… change the beat and release it to iTunes and see what happen and perform at AWARD SHOWS not just GHETTOO BET they don’t support, she needs to be everywhere like she was the pass two weeks, just got ham…. 68. MC October 23, 2012

Why do you guys always blame black people for not buying?!?! Last time I checked the white population in the USA was 72.4%..obviously more than the African-American popularion…how come white people are not blamed? White people don’t buy either, they also download illegally, unless its Taylor Swift or Adele. Some of you guys just need to chill —-> love to paint African-Americans in a bad light (sucks to be African-American)……

Thank U!!!!! I just left so many comments about this it’s crazy. Blacks support whites but how many whites support blacks????

    • Elvick November 2, 2012

      Fighting racism with racism. 😀

I buy tons of music. I hope that other people do the same. Without sales, artists end up struggling to release new music or lose the drive after they get dropped, or their label folds.

Has nothing to with race. It has to do with people being assholes who feel entitled to entertainment.

  69. Speaks Truth October 23, 2012

Usher album flop because he decided to use those dumb ass singles which was dumb as he’ll….. He should have released EUPHORE & I CARE & CAN’T STOP WON’T STOP & LESSONS IN LOVE AND ALSO I.F.U urban anthem, I don’t know what his team was thinking R&B artist give up to fast, do like Taylor swift release all your tracks and mix in beyonce and do a bunch of performances of different songs from the album and MUSIC VIDEOS, you gotta get off your lazy ass nowadays and work work work, THEY ALL SHOULD TAKE NOTES FROM RIHANNA CUZ SHE SHITS ON WORKING HARD

  70. Dustin October 23, 2012

I bet the official number will be a little higher. Hdd is usually about 5k under the official sales numbers posted by billboard. She’ll end up around 70k.

Not bad but not really good
    Either

  71. Solomon David October 23, 2012

I don’t how this has become about everyone else but ok. This album is pretty damn hot if you ask me and it should have sold way more than this in the first week, But hey what can you do I bought three copies because it’s that good and i wanted my friends to hear it and after they heard it they also bought a copy, this album is blazin and if you don’t like her then why even comment on what this post is about? Isn’t it kind of a waster of your time?

  72. TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! October 23, 2012

Taylor is slaying so much.. so proud of Taylor:)

    Says on te billboard website…

According to industry sources, first-day sales for “Red” (Monday, Oct. 22) surpassed 500,000 units, including a record opening day sum at Target

    • Mob…… October 23, 2012

TRAILER Swift is a WHITE FEMALE POP-COUNTRY ACT. Of course she will sell well WTF is new? No matter how many men she tears through, make songs and whine about them after the quick and dirty affair is done, the media wlll still love her. YAWN..WHATEVER….

Brandy is an actual talent without the “evil lack male” (Yeezy) stereotype to boost her career!

    • MiSSBawse October 23, 2012

Lol, I can’t with ppl who diminish the artistry of Taylor. She works SO *ucking hard…an artist who actually writes, produces, designs her shows, and manages herself. I enjoy haters just being so damn miserable due to how successful she is. HA! I love RED! I’m black (WOAH!) and I love her music. Good music is good music, no matter the shape or form.

      • Rozell October 24, 2012

        Did you buy Brandy’s album?

      • ddluvmusic30 October 31, 2012

I’m not taking anything from her I’m stating the truth. I like pop music, I’m a big music lover but the facts are the facts. How many black movies come out a year??? How many black people are in a white movie??? How many black artist who actually look black(u know not bleaching their skin) & bending over showing their ass sell??? How many black females do u c in videos or better yet on tv period???? The facts r the facts and until black people wake up and start supporting each other we’re going to continue to fade!!!!!

      • Elvick November 2, 2012

  73. caramelboi October 23, 2012

I am not a big brandy fan,but I do like some of her songs and she had me checking for her this era which is why I bought two deluxe copies of 2/11. Y’all can’t say she didn’t promote this album bcuz she worked her ass off the wk b4 and the wk of her album release. Tbh I don’t think wildest dreams should’ve been her second single bcuz I don’t care for that song. NSTATL,slower, and there r a couple of others that could be good singles off the album. She needs to hit up late night shows to promote it bcuz she didn’t do any last wk. Ppl plzzz stop sayin R n B is dead its not……but its dying bcuz y’all r not buying the music. A lot of good R n B albums have came out since 2010 such as: melanie fiona, elle varner, tank,r. Kelly, kelly rowland, kandi, miguel, swv, tamia and so on but y’all cheap asses want buy, request it on radio stations, but u will go in on others on blog sites about their faves instead of supporting urs.

  74. Brad October 23, 2012

MONICA outsold her yet again… this time with no hit singles. That says a lot… This isn’t the 90s anymore… The roles have reversed… Deal!

    • TJ October 24, 2012

What you are saying is actually true. The stats don’t lie.

      • uknowhat October 25, 2012

Why do people keep mentioning MONICA? Monica hasnt even sold 1million copies during her WHOLE CAREER! like WTF? she is not comparison to Brandy who blazed the trail for MONICA, Beyonce and kelly. Monica jus sings, she has Never had an acting career to back her up! She is a ONE TRICK PONY! She is def not as successful as Brandy period point blank

    • ddluvmusic30 October 31, 2012

ummm what does monica have to do with this post??????? Comparing instead of supporting both of them smh

  75. Chachanana12 October 23, 2012

Well I could write a report with everything I wanna say but….no. Just a question. Okay two fake artists ( it’s a hypothetical question) Tasha and Renee. Tasha and Renee on the same popularity scale. Albums come out Tasha sells 433,000 first week. Renee 328,000 first week. Tasha fans ( TF) call Renee a flop. U.S Tasha sells 1.3 million but Renee sells 2.7 million. Worldwide Renee 4.5 million Tasha 3.9 million. Who’s the flop and as far as singles we’ll leave this out of the equation. It’s like u fans say only the U. S counts but when u r arguing with a fans fave artist who’s sold more in the US you’ll change and say no no worldwide they sold such n such. U r all IRRITATING!

  76. Mob…… October 23, 2012

THIS IS R&B FOOLS NOT POP!

That first week sells sh*t only really works in the Pop world. R&B arists tend to sell more over time as they tour and enteract with fans. I’m not worried about her numbers and she is far form a flop!

  77. Michael October 23, 2012

Im shocked with all the success she had with it belongs to me and put it down. I thought that that alumb woulda atleast sold 100k . But she gonna be going on tour soon. Rappers release along so they can go on tour. R&b goes on on tour to promote their alumb. Bought time she get through touring she probably gonna have went gold. Ex: look at rihannas career. She usually debuts with low first week sales. But bought time she finish touring and promoting the alumb. It usually ends up selling 2-3 million copies. Trey songz dubuted with high first weeks sale an end up dropping of the charts within three months. The same goes with most rappers and their alumbs barely even goes gold. Jessica Simpson under the skin alumb only sold 66-69 copies in first week. But bought time she got through touring and promoting that alumb. It ended up selling 2.5 million copies. . Thanks giving is around the corner. Isiah has some recipes you would insure joy. Is a h Isiah Classic Food available on kindle, and bn.com.

  81. MACHIAVEL October 23, 2012

I’M Sad For Her cause She Deseved Better!

  82. BEYONCE’S WEAVE October 23, 2012

The only evidence I need which proves white people are buying albums is the performance of country music in the US and Canada. The performance of rap shows that black people are only interested in rap. Even a whack rapper like 2 chainz can open. with over 100K and a number one spot. Rap is relatively cheaper to produce anyway since labels don’t have to pay song writing credits to other song writers. This is why many rappers still have their deals with the label.

I also don’t understand how black people can support rappers who brag about the stuff they have but refuse to spend $1.29 on an RnB single. If an RnB artist goes pop, again, no judgement from me. You are also a human being who needs to earn a living.

    • JAKE October 23, 2012

We don’t usually agree…. Musical differences.

But I ABSOLUTELY agree with you on this @Beyonce…

      Well said.

    • Bey Fan October 23, 2012

      Great point

  83. JAKE October 23, 2012

But, like everyone says, what is HOT now will be COLD in the next 5 years. It happens all the time. Musical trends always shift every 3-6 years before another genre/musical format becomes the domineering force.

    LETS LOOK AT THE FACTS!!!!!!!

If you look at Pop music of the past 10 years:

2000: R&B based Pop/Dance-Pop music and R&B music as a whole are the dominant genres. Alt-Rock is also a dominant force on Pop radio.

2001: R&B based Pop/Dance-Pop music and R&B music are the dominant genres. Alt-Rock is still big.

2002: R&B based Pop/Dance-Pop music and R&B music as a whole are the dominant genres. Post-Grunge Rock music became HIGHLY commercial and Alt/Indie Rock begins to become LESS commercial.

2003: R&B based Pop/Dance-Pop music and R&B music remain the dominant genres. Post-Grunge is EXTREMELY commercial (Nickelback etc…). Urban/Hip-Hop begins to gain more commercial recognition.

2004: R&B music is the years dominant genre. Pop/Dance-Pop isn’t as popular. Post-Grunge begins to become LESS commercial.

    2005: R&B music and Hip-Hop is the dominant genre’s.

2006: Hip-Hop overtakes R&B as the dominant genre. R&B music is still a force. Dance-Pop begins to gain commercial placement.

2007: R&B and Hip-Hop begin to merge together. Neither genre’s are SOLE individual forces. Dance-Pop is commercial once more.

2008: R&B, solely, becomes less commercial. Hip-Hop and R&B influence Hip-Hop is dominating. Dance/Pop & Electro-Pop are starting to become the domineering commercial genre’s.

    2009: Dance-Pop & Electro-Pop are the dominating genre’s. Hip-Hop influenced R&B is the #1 urban musical placement.

2010: Electro-Pop dominates as does Hip-Hop music. R&B related Hip-Hop begins to fade.

2011: Electro-Pop and Dance-Pop continue to dominate. Hip-Hop, in a singles sense, become less commercial but Hip-Hop albums continue to sell. Alt-Rock/Indie-Rock become commercial once more.

2012: Electro-Pop is still dominating as is Alt-Rock and Indie-Rock.

YOU SEE…… Music changes. R&B will dominate once again.

    😉

    • That B*tch (Rihllama’s downfall) October 23, 2012

Thank you for posting this. Music trends always change!
Why cant some brain-dead people understand this? Its not rocket science.

    • ddluvmusic30 October 31, 2012

As you can see r&b is fading just like the black culture. I’m not letting r&b go, I mean damn we barely have television shows. They get one season every 2 years smh people need to pay attention!!!!

  84. JAKE October 23, 2012

Even the LEGENDARY Ms. Whitney Houston (R.I.P) acknowledged, back in 1988, the need to adapt to musical trends and shift along with them.

When questioned by Ebony Magazine on whether she feels that her success in mainstream music is because she her music had BECOME more mainstream (white-washed), she said:

“There’s a certain way to make money in this business, and I chose to do it that way”.

    END OF STORY.

Whether it was her record label pressuring her into becoming mainstream etc.. is a COMPLETELY different story. Whitney’s true prime peaked during a time when Dance, Rock and Heavy-Metal music were the domineering commercial genre’s, with the exception of the token Black R&B crossover hits, and she wanted to captalize on that sucess.

It was only core, negatively attitudous, R&B/Soul audiences who felt that Whitney, Janet and Michael had rejected their “roots” in favour of turing “white” and making “white/mainstream” music. NO!!! They knew what was neccessary to succeed and they went along with it. Artists still need to make money in order to live – singing is a profession after all – and SOMETIMES, you will need to compromise in order to make that $$$$$$$.

    • BitchICan’tEvenSpellWelfare October 23, 2012

@Jake, I don’t think anyone is attempting to dispute your points about the music business and the choice that particular artists make in the careers.

Whitney Houston was a BRILLIANT pop artist. Period. However, Whitney’s artistic excellence allowed her to put “You Give Good Love” and “How Will I Know” on the same album without people thinking twice about it b/c Whitney was simply that good.

However, the more calculated moves I see being made today (Usher, Nicki, and Ne-Yo just to name a few) are simply not as successful. Sorry.

Yes, sometimes artists choose to experiment with their sounds in order to reach broader audiences and this is a great thing when. done. well. Again, when. done. well. See Chris Brown’s “Beautiful People” and Kelly Rowland’s “When Love Takes Over” for two good examples.

However, it is when you come across as an inauthentic-try-hard -looking for sales through pop when this move fails . And again, I’m GLAD that Brandy refused this choice. Because of this choice, we get the fantastic “Two Eleven.”

      • JAKE October 23, 2012

        @ICan’tEvenSpell…

No. No. No.. I completely agree with what you’re saying. My comments are not in response to Brandy’s sales and her choice to NOT do Pop music I didn’t expect her to sell more than the sales she has recieved this week as R&B music is just NOT the formidable genre at the moment…….

I was just ambiguously responding to those who are saying that Two Eleven’s sales are relative to her being an R&B artist, therefore me putting forward examples of Beyonce (See: 4) and many other successful crossover acts. Brandy is Brandy and I am glad she didn’t compromise her musicality stance in order to SELL because she made the music that she adores and revers the most… But… With that, a negative always follows.

Is it because she failed to create something more mainstream appealing (which IS BRILLIANT the way it is) the reason as to why this reported first week sale is a BUST???

        Hmmmmm.

        Do you understand?

        😉

    • BitchICan’tEvenSpellWelfare October 23, 2012

      @Jake, yes I got’cha. 🙂

    • Rozell October 24, 2012

I see what you mean. I do feel that this album does cross over with the beats. The background music on this CD is amazing and in my opinion does cross.

    • ddluvmusic30 October 31, 2012

I love Whitney but when reality hit her and the world started to realize she was human white America had everything bad to say about her & no longer supported her music so at the end of the day was it all worth it?? Damn they even trashed her on her death bed smh. Same with MJ it seem like all he did was pop music and they praised then destroyed him.

  85. Bey Fan October 23, 2012

NO one said Brandy was gonna sale big….. (maybe 1 or 2 ppl)

But what we are saying is the album is freaking amazing.

Sales dont change that….. I wish that she sold more, and I hope that it continues to sale, but regardless, she created a great album.

    • BitchICan’tEvenSpellWelfare October 23, 2012

      Thank you @Bey Fan!

People can call it a FLOP or whatever, the album is GREAT!

    • B_STANNING(BEY ALWAYS WINS) October 23, 2012

@Bey Fan you and royal kev speaks truth.Brandy album is amazing and album sales cannot change that. Also people need to realize just because a album sells big doesnt make it a great album. However it would be nice if brandy sold well this era because this album is the biz along with her last two albums that were under rated.

    • Rozell October 24, 2012

So with you…amazing album. Don’t really care who didn’t buy it. I did!!! I love good clean music…with meaning. love India Irie too!!!!

    • Elvick November 2, 2012

Actually there were tons of people saying that.

Go check any article about Monica’s album New Life. Especially if they’re about her sales.

Still baffles me why people can’t just support R&B. Instead of one person in R&B. That’s what’s wrong with R&B. Well, and the people who would rather look at the past as perfection and hate on the present. (thus don’t support the artists making good s*** now)

  86. NEWLIFEFAN October 23, 2012

I have zero issue with Brandy, however her fans are a total mess. Hey jumped on Monica’s New Life album sales for being 69k. They called her a flop left, right, and sideways. Brandy’s. “Comeback” just sold less. Now her fans are saying her 68k is good. They claim its the times, etc. Why is there a different standard?

    • Rozell October 24, 2012

Yessss! As long as you don’t hate her. I am a fan of hers. I am a calm fan lol. I love Monica too and Rihanna. But I just go way back with Brandy and Monica. I am the same age as Brandy!!!!!

    • ddluvmusic30 October 31, 2012

They shouldn’t be compared in the first place!!!!!! They should be supported!!!!!

  87. RoyalKev October 23, 2012

I think people should be reminded that this is an artist that is already accomplished. This album wasn’t going to make or break Brandy. It was just something to contribute to her legacy. Some of ya’ll can question her relevance, but just take note of how everyone (fan and foe) was obviously eager to see Brandy’s numbers. We care because she already had the “it girl” status.

Brandy’s not in the field with the new crop of stars fighting to make a name for themselves or trying to cement their place in the music world. She’s already taking her thrown and became everything so many people that followed behind her would like to be.

Ya’ll hypocritical Monica stans really, really, really need to stop with the delusion. We always owned ya’ll! Ya’ll Need To Settle Down! Look it up:

Brandy ‘Brandy’ album >>> Monica ‘Miss Thang’
Brandy ‘NSN’ album >>> Monica’s ‘The Boy is Mine’
Brandy ‘Full Moon’ >>> Monica’s ‘After the Storm’
Brandy ‘Afrodisiac >>> Monica’s ‘The Making’s Of Me’

    Brandy ‘Human’ <<<Monica's 'Still Standing'

Monica just made her "big" return in 2010, so that's the only reason why her and Brandy's #'s (with New Life and Two Eleven) are even in the same neighborhood after Brandy's 4 year hiatus. Let's not!

I love how everyone critiques Brandy in hindsight, you should have done this, you should have done that, "Put It Down" was a mistake. It's always misguided talk after someone supposedly "fails" … People, "Put It Down" became a top 5 hit on the R&B charts. She won on that track. If it was something else she released, ya'll would still stick to the same script. If it was a ballad, ya'll would tell her to catch up to 2012 – it's not the 90's! Bottom line, CERTAIN artists in 2012 that even make GREAT albums are at a disadvantage. We know what it is! It doesn't have to be spelled out. If someone isn't clear on what I'm saying, let's just all say a prayer for those folks.

As for these Rihanna fans bumping their gums and neglecting to see the FAIL in Rihanna being in her "prime" and never seeing multi-platinum more than once (her peak was only 2 million). Seriously, what Queen releases 7 albums – year after year and never snag a #1. If you drop albums like that you damn sure need to be a boss getting #1's at least on some of those occasions. Yes, Rihanna has hits, but they belong to T.I., Eminem and Britney . Who slashes prices for a single that cost 1.29? Sit and analyze this before you belittle artists that was slaying long before a Rihanna!

Ya'll are disrespectful and on the same stuff Rihanna is if ya'll want to put down Brandy to build up Rihanna's weak ass reign. Rihanna is about controversy, playing victim, switching up to follow the current trends and puffing on cigarettes to give rock star raspy vocals …OK! Let's not even include her in conversations with people that take music seriously.

        @Teacher

Yes, it does … Rihanna’s team! You can only be but so clever when it comes to thinking outside the box to prove someone’s a superstar. 20 Years from now people will not look at Twitter and FB followers and substitute that for having #1 albums, hefty album sales, or heck, even high box-office totals. You know I’m not even really mad at Rih and I’m Hive all day, but we’re not going to compare her to people damn near 20 years in the game. No ma’ am! It’s only been 7 years, let’s tame that!

    • Jessica October 24, 2012

This is why I didn’t buy Brandy’s album. I fckin hate her fans. And for the record, Monica will be here signed to a major recording contract whether she flops or not. Can you say the same about Brandy? I got the Atlantic and Epic records receipts and RCA is soon to follow.

      Monica>>>>>

      • Mary Mary Why You Buggin’ October 24, 2012

@Jessica, so you didn’t buy Brandy’s album BECAUSE of her fans? Hmmm…and that logic makes sense on what planet? If I went by that rule, I would never purchase music.

I’m a HUGE Monica fan but @RoyalKev is simply defending Brandy against the horrible Monica fans on TGJ.

      • Rozell October 24, 2012

So you didn’t buy the album because you don’t like her fans? Oh ok. Some of her fans are calm cool and collected…like me :).

  88. Jer October 23, 2012

Like i said, Brandy has about 50k fans. Next weeks salea will be like 12k SMH. Yal Brandy stans talked like this was the second coming of Jesus and the album is just another typical R&B snooze. Uninspired, tires, mediocre songs that could be on anyones album. And yal have the nerve coming after the white acts for doing electronic GURL at least its something exciting. Ill take Gaga anyday over these R&B singers that songs have neither rhythm nor blues. Sorry Brandy i love you but its a gurl bye

    • BOB October 24, 2012

gaga music is over produced generic dribble seriously? no one could do brandy’s runs or stacked vocal layering harmonies the end!!1

      • Elvick November 2, 2012

I don’t know, I loved Gaga’s start. Fame and Fame Monster were great.

Born This Way was overproduced crap though. Horrible album, and now I don’t bother with supporting her gimmicky ass.

I’d rather support artists like Mya, Tamia, Monica, Brandy, K. Michelle, Keyshia Cole, etc.

    • Rozell October 24, 2012

Electronic Gurl? What is that? Not trying to be mean but just never heard of that lol.

  89. Spunkypoop October 23, 2012

***umm sipping on Mint Tea!*** Interesting!

  90. LoveHoney October 23, 2012

Brandy is winning, and this album has got the best reviews of her 20 plus musical journey. Put It Down peaked at #3 before Billboard change there chart rules on R&B charts. Put It Down is #1 on Urban and Wildest Dreams is doing amazing on radio too. She def. got people talking in a good way. I see this album being the black version of 21 by Adele with word of mouth, great radio singles and this album will def. go Gold which is an amazing claim for an R&B act in this musical decline.

A side note: I do believe RCA didn’t ship enough albums but from Human charting at #15 to Two Eleven hitting #3 on Billboard’s 200 album charts and #1 on the R&B charts – Brandy is back, and she’s winning.

Whitney would def. be happy because Brandy followed Brandy, and it paid off.

Get your copy of Two Eleven and support our music R&B is ours guys so let’s support those real R&B artist that make those classic songs we all know and love.

    • Rozell October 24, 2012

      Yes!

  91. Kenneth Green October 23, 2012

Thats fine, the album will go platinum watch. It looks a little cloudy but nothing this good will go unnoticed. Slow and steady will win the race. Were claiming that.

    • jaiyah October 23, 2012

You are so right. Bran’s 1st week album sales are pretty good. I remember in 1 of her interviews, Bran said that she’s coming out like she’s a new artist and so she has to build back up again. This gives her enough time to still promote her album. Bran still has alot of things that’s coming up in a couple of months. Trust me I checks her twitter, her fansite, tumblr, rca site, etc. Plus by Bran selling 66,000 copies gets her to work her way up and promote her album at different venues. Whether if she’s performing in a mall, a small club, at a expo,or a tv show, that still counts for something. The more she promotes her album the more she could work her way up. I’m not trippin, Brandy still won.

    • JER October 24, 2012

PLATINUM???? lol GRRRL the album will be lucky to go Wood

    • uknowhat October 25, 2012

i agreee i can see this album DEFinitely going gold and platinum just the show on billboard and being top of rnb charts is going 2 give an extra boost. RnB does not sell like pop and country as i mentioned before, its steady slow grownth that wins in this genre….The numbrs she put up are actually respectful in this day and age of music

  92. Hesings October 23, 2012

A lot of you Starz on here standing up for Brandy now, but how many of you stood up in line to buy the cd or bought it on iTunes. And if u haven’t please refrain from commenting on the sales cause u sure ain’t help.

    • jaiyah October 24, 2012

I bought 2 albums boo. She still will do fine.

    • Rozell October 24, 2012

I bought one and will buy other with I get paid tomorrow hahahaha. I would hate for my lst one to get scratched up. So I have to play it safe and buy another one. Also, my sister is s die hard fan and bought 5!!!!!!!

      • Rozell October 24, 2012

Can I type today??? Apparently not. Meant to say *another when I get paid…

    • ddluvmusic30 October 31, 2012

      I did!!!! Got 2 copies!!!!

  93. Honey CHILD please October 23, 2012

Let’s keep it real… White people aren’t buying brandys album. So the only people you have left is Minorities. People say they want go R&B but b****** won’t check under couches cushions to purchase a quality album….R&B is not dead it’s just people are too cheap to pay to cop the official album. Brandy caters to R&B crowd which are mostly urban and broke b******..If she wants to push albums she will need to cross over, and abandon these broke h*** like they have done her. *rolls eyes* these b****** have the nerve to cry sell out….

    • Acem October 23, 2012

Brandy has always catered to an R&B crowd and black people have ALWAYS been her primary buying demographic. At her peak she was going 5 and 6x platinum…which is more than what white pop stars are selling today.

Color don’t got s*** to do with it. R&B acts like Brandy aren’t being supported at a CORPORATE level because the suits think all people wanna here is strobe light dance music. Hit albums and hit songs don’t make themselves. If record labels and radio station programmers aren’t willing to get behind something because it’s the opposite of what they’re convinced they’ll make money with, then there’s not much a fan sect can do.

      • gogetta October 25, 2012

Yes color and culture has PLENTY TO do with RNB artists success fool! You need to wake up and smell it hunny….Poor thang SMH

      • gogetta October 25, 2012

however yr correct about Corporate support lacking in putting in the full dollars to support pure rnb artists, however it still involves color and culture as well..

    • JER October 24, 2012

      DEAD check under couch cushions

    • gogetta October 25, 2012

LOL i have to agree with you, RNB crowds are predominantly minority and we just dont buy as fast as white crowds period point blank! White actually support artists but minorities are not so loyal but eventually she will def sell more

    • ddluvmusic30 October 31, 2012

So r&b fans are broke h***???? hmmmm how about r&b fans have been brain washed to like pop. There’s nothing black about the media so why would you think blacks will support each other, blacks are so busy bleaching their skin and putting blonde wigs on top of their heads. We need someone to stand firm & not sell out because these little blacks girls need something to relate to. The black females who has been in the game these past few years has been everything but black!!!!!!!!! The real issue here is where does Brandy stand in antiblack world???

    • Elvick November 2, 2012

      I’m white. I bought Brandy’s album.

  94. Sisi dymples October 23, 2012

I bought it oct 16th at 12 midnight for 11.99 on iTunes. Brandy made a solid album and I love it! Keep going B-rocka #truefanhere

  95. sundaylu October 23, 2012

I got the album and its perfect beginning to end

    • Rozell October 24, 2012

      Love it too.

  96. Biting Truth October 23, 2012

No one expected this album to do huge opening numbers, but 66k is simply terrible. I was thinking she’s do at least as much as the R&B guys. Brandy’s problem is that for months/weeks leading up to the release of the album she was barely promoting outside of an online interview here and a piddly little radio station interview there. There’s been nothing but fake buzz on blogs like this, with nothing back it up. Then the week that the album drops, suddenly she tries to step up her game and it didn’t work. The promotional machine for this album should have been kicked into high gear at least 2 months prior to the release date.

Brandy is coming off of three commercial disappointments; and yet her team seems to think that there is enough good will/good faith buyers out there who will flock to her just because once upon a time she was “Brandy.” I’ve been saying it all along, but whoever is managing Brandy needs to be fired. She basically needs a shark manning her career…someone who will barter, blackmail, threaten and manipulate her back into top standing. Not someone who will book her on the Tom Joyner morning show. What the f*** was THAT? The MTV Awards…she should have been there. The Emmy’s…she should have been there. The AMA’s…she should be there — performing. I don’t think RCA expects her to do big things and won’t shell out any big money on her unless they see that she’s profitable, so really it’s up to Brandy and her management right now to prove that she is. Once they do, more label support will probably kick in.

And while I’m glad she stayed true to her R&B roots, made an R&B album and would never encourage her (or anyone else) to turn pop…I think some additional dance remixes of the singles couldn’t hurt. Pop radio would have played the dance version of Put It Down, R&B radio would have played the original…and it would have been an all around win. She’d be co-opting the scene w/o anyone being able to accuse her of being a sell out.

Her team seems to think that Brandy still retains enough super star clout to make a relatively easy rebound. Nah. They need to start being more aggressive and meticulous. I don’t think all is lost just yet. There’s still a tiny window there for this album to be saved, but if they don’t act fast it will close.

  97. Beyonce’s Weave October 23, 2012

Just listen to how amazing Jennifer Hudson sounds on a pop track

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BU2DQANlPmA

Jennifer Hudson, if you still have your record deal, transition now, there is no money in RnB at the moment. No one will judge you for it.

    • Dejae October 23, 2012

F*** that s***. I WILL totally judge her if she comes out that nonsense. It’s beneath her talent.

      • Beyonce’s Weave October 23, 2012

It would sell though whether you judge her or not. She would still get her cheque and keep her record deal.

    • Elvick November 2, 2012

That s*** is whack. Jennifer Hudson needs to keep doing her, not that s***.

  98. Beyonce’s Weave October 23, 2012

I also find those who are stating that Brandy does not and should not care about the figures to be very selfish. If Brandy did not need the money nor does she care about the figures, she should have funded the project herself instead of using the label’s money. By using the label’s money, she denied another artist the chance of using the same money to release their music. Imagine you just got signed by RCA, and are anticipating the start of your work on your very first LP only to be told, “sorry, the money went to Brandy, she has been in this game longer, after she makes the money back then we’ll come back to you”. And then to find the project fails and then to be told, “sorry, the label has no money, we’ll come back to you after Usher sales some singles and we make Brandy’s money back”, and then only to be told, “oh Brandy doesn’t care about the numbers anyway”.

This affects breakout artists a lot. She should care about the figures and do all she can to get this project to at least reach Gold because this affects not only breakout artists but also RCA staff. If she didn’t care, she should have funded the project herself. Just saying.

  99. Sabian October 23, 2012

Like someone pointed out, Usher’s 3 mega sellers (MY WAY, 8701 and CONFESSIONS) were R&B. Then Usher sells out to pop dorks with LOOKING 4 MYSELF and what happens? It’s the biggest sales flop of his career. Even HERE I STAND and RAYMOND V. RAYMOND did better than it.

If you’re an artist, you can’t build a career doing one type of music and then suddenly switch to something else. Your long time fans will reject you and chances are you won’t pick up enough new fans to make up the difference.

Brandy did the right thing staying with R&B. Just like no one wants a “pop” Usher or a “pop” Ne-Yo, no one would want a “pop” Brandy, a “pop” Monica, a “pop” Keyshia Cole or a “pop” Beyonce. It’s interesting though how the R&B females are largely staying true to their roots, while the R&B guys (save Trey and Miguel) are all being big ol’ p****** selling out to pop because they’re so scared about not having hits otherwise. Go ahead and lose your fan base fellas.

    • credits October 23, 2012

      Bey is pop.

    • Beyonce’s Weave October 23, 2012

You clearly didn’t buy “Looking for myself” did you? It flopped because of his “singles” choices.

He has so far released “Climax, Scream, Lemme See, Dive and Numb” as singles and so far only Scream has given him success, the rest flopped hard. I bought the whole album and I can tell you only 3 songs are pop (Scream, Euphoria, Numb), the rest are RnB and as has been clearly shown, the RnB singles did not push the album, Scream most likely pushed the album.

Same with Chris Brown, he released 204850285 singles before the album dropped and only “Turn up the music and Don’t wake me up” were successful, the rest were RnB singles and they flopped. They didn’t even push the album.

Ne-Yo had a number one single in the UK recently, if he gets his singles right, he’ll be successful.

      • JER October 24, 2012

        LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL 204850285 singles

    • Rozell October 24, 2012

Brandy did it the smart way. Her beats are pop but her lyrics are R&B. Even with some of her unreleased songs the beats cross over but her lyrics are soulful.

  100. antertain October 23, 2012

    KMT!!!!!
Please still release at least 4 singles.

RCA ain’t doing good numbers with the R&B females acts.

    • monicanandbrandystan October 29, 2012

THE JOURNEY ONLY JUST STARTED SO WATHC THIS SPACE.

  101. credits October 23, 2012

When “it all belongs to me” didn’t take off, it had to have been an indicator that she and the label would have to work extra hard to try and regain the popularity she use to have. Her Recent perfomances have been top notch so she is doing her part. I just don’t think the label put that much into her promo. And i know she is practically a legend in the r&b arena but this was like starting for her, like being a new artist, she could’ve released a mixtape with ‘how high’ or something, everybody seems to be gaining popularity with mixtapes now a days.

  102. Lana Del Slay October 24, 2012

Brandy`s numbers aren`t that bad considering she has been away for awhile and it`s a R&B album. She didnt flop because she is black, she did because she chose R&B route. R&B isnt dead, people are just not enterested at the moment. With most R&B acts its the same thing over and over. Case and point Ciara`s song Sorry: a good song but it is no different than any other R&B song. Most R&B songs are about love, relationships, or s**; most singers in the genre lack creativity and diversity. Beyonce is the only singer who can put out a R&B album and have it sale over 2 million because she isnt one dimentional.

    • CS9 October 24, 2012

“Most R&B songs are about love, relationships, or s**”

What else are they supposed to sing about? Most songs in general are about those three subjects. Those are universal topics that just about everyone can relate to.

      • Rozell October 24, 2012

Yes lol. Would not want to hear a song about Food lol. Love, relationships, and s** are what people relate to the most. They are what connect us.

      • Elvick November 2, 2012

R&B should be about laptops, toasters and fries.

        Duh.

    • gogetta October 25, 2012

uhh Rnb doesnt sell because MINORITIES DONT BUY albums as frequently as whites…. which is unfortunate but truE! Im sure Brandy and her record lable are WELL AWARE of the sales figures and expectations. Im sure they’re prob not as worried as the stans are lol

    • Kenneth Green Jr October 25, 2012

Beyonce’s latest album “4” was an R&B album and she has only sold 1.3 million, that tells you that R&B is lacking a bit. So the numbers are what they are, but the will go up only if the label does not stop shipment and supports the album.

      • Gemini October 26, 2012

1.3 …yeah in the U.S But 3 Million worldwide as of october and its only been a little over a year and we all know her sales are slow this time around but her promo was all over the place to and thats not normal for Bey, because normaly she would still be promoting that album..but the problem for brandy is that her fans are just not sticking to there word..they say they will purchase it then go boot-legg it same with Bey when 4 leaked every one they would still buy it but instead boot-legged it, although Beys my idol im still a fan of Brandys so i listened to 211 liked what i heard and bought it and just like Bey saw whos her real fan base was during 4, brandy will see whos hers during 211 but i must admit R&b is not whats in when it comes to mainstream but it will be back one day just wont sound they same music has its seasons and times changes

  103. ngobeni glen glenmore October 24, 2012

she can sell morethan a million the promotions are still going ahead.and a strong single is needed songs like so sick,do u knw what u have, scared of beautiful and let me go,i knew that wildest dreams would do much cause is old skool music and people are no longer interested on old skool music.but what is amazing is people are always saying old skool rnb is dead but today brandy came back with real rnb music her album is filled with real rnb but there is nobody to support, but thats not the end she can sell morethan we excepted, this once happen tto lady gaga her album was not number 1 on billboard on her 1st week sales but she sold like no one else. most of times those sales very higher are ulliminates so unfornate brandy is not one of them but god will help her;im so disspointed but its gonna be ok

    • Rozell October 24, 2012

Yes it will be ok!!! 🙂

    • monicanandbrandystan October 29, 2012

  106. GivingAwayFreeChairs _/_/_/ October 24, 2012

Most R&B lovers are African Americans. Most African Americans now days will get the bootleg copy before going to a store or entering a credit / debit card number on iTunes. Not racist but, I see it everyday! Same goes for DVD’S. And very few races support R&B music, especially if they were out in the 90’s and don’t put out music that often. Also, unless you live under a rock, it’s obvious that pop/ country music is taking over. Sad but very true. I wish all R&B chicks the best of luck, but unless you’re Beyonce, Rhianna, Nicki, you’re not selling over 150,000 first week.

    • Rozell October 24, 2012

I am with you. I so love R&B. Even though I hate that most R&B artists aren’t selling much(though I will give Brandy some time to see!!!) I am happy that they aren’t doing the “p” poppin thing to get sales. Take India Irie (love this girl!!!!). So not a “p” popping artist but puts are beautiful music (on my goodness!)

    • ddluvmusic30 October 31, 2012

It’s sad that ur comment is somewhat true. I’m African American & I love r&b so if I feel the album is worth it I will & have pulled out my debit and purchased cd’s. Like Jay Z said he used to bootleg albums to prescreen them & if it was worth it he would spend the money. I believe the media is brain washing the world to fall into the pop/white culture. Just look at the t.v shows there’s no urban shows for children and in the white tv shows there’s one to two black kids. I try my best to keep r&b alive because it’s apart of my history not all this bubble gum s***. As for Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, & Beyonce just look at the facts they lighten up their skin & use s** to sell people come on smh. Willie Lynch speech is embeded in our brains this is why we wont monopolize together BLACK PEOPLE!!!!! The media is fading us out!!!!!!!

  107. dub t October 24, 2012

HDD overestimated her sales. Billboard just reported she only sold 65k in the first week.

  108. kythaman2u October 24, 2012

Most of you people are so basic.

First of all, as a Brandy fan…I’ll readily admit that these numbers are bad and that I’m disappointed. Brandy has never been a huge 1st week seller…and she IS past her commercial peak…so I didn’t expect her to move big numbers out the gate, but I was expecting something a bit higher than this. That she didn’t is a reflection on her label and management. It’s their jobs to promote the music and the artist. To justify these paltry numbers by arguing that it’s an R&B album is excusing mediocrity, and making low standards “ok” and that’s not a good thing. Brandy is a mainstream artist who has has had mainstream success. This can’t be spun into something good for someone of her caliber. It’s poor.

    That being said…

Anyone who thinks an album can be labeled a “flop” based on lackluster opening week numbers is an idiot, has no idea what they’re talking about and should shut up. If she had debuted with 300-500k, then had a 80% drop off that she never recovered from, would that have made it a hit? No. Albums don’t cease promotion and go out of print after their first seven days. Week 1 isn’t the be-all/end-all. An album needs to be out for at least a month or two before a halfway reasonable trajectory can be drawn on whether or not the album will have legs.

Fun fact: Whitney Houston’s My Love Is Your Love sold 123k in its first week and debuted at #13 (never climbing any higher that chart position)…and the album later went on to go 4x platinum in the US and sold over 13 million copies worldwide. See how THAT works? Plenty of albums get off to slow starts and eventually rebound. Wait and see what happens before getting on your 15 year old wannabe troll s*** boxes flapping your silly mouths.

Third of all, to everyone slighting Brandy and questioning her legitimacy or significance…it’s been eighteen years since her debut album. Name another act — white or black…R&B or Pop — who also debuted in 1994 and is smashing her latest effort. I’ll wait. Every artist will peak and start to commercially descend. It’s inevitable. No one remains on top forever. *All* of your favorites will see the day where their albums don’t do the business that they did a few years earlier…if it hasn’t happened already.

Just remember this, though, Brandy’s biggest selling album (Never Say Never) is RIAA-certified 5x platinum and has sold 18 million copies worldwide. Did your favorites top selling album do as well as that? Don’t act like Brandy is some sort on peon whose success doesn’t stand up to someone like Rihanna’s or some other sissy pop chick who no one will remember in 5 years. Please. Rihanna and her ilk (Katy, Gaga, Kesha, etc., etc.) have never had an album that did as much business as Never Say Never did. All they do is put out a bunch of thoughtless and interchangeable albums every year, wait for them to struggle to barely touch platinum and then put out another. It’s empty, conveyor belt pop that has no meaning or soul, and that’s why years from now no one will look back on any of them as classics. You dare talk about Brandy and R&B fans in general not supporting her and R&B music. What the hell?! When my girl was smashing, she was SMASHING. These so-called “it”-girls sales of today would have been considered flops when Brandy was at the top of her game. So let’s not even be cynical. Brandy has no reason to be envious of too many people out right now who’re considered “hot,” because chances are that her peak was better.

In closing, lemme just say this:
I would rather Brandy “flop” with style and an album that years from now people will look back on and recognize it as actually being good than to see her “hit” with some disposable trend-chasing-sound-like-everyone-else b******* that will age disgracefully and will be dismissed as garbage down the road.

    • Rozell October 24, 2012

I am so with you!!!! I don’t get what the numbers are. She is amazing!!!! Every song on that album is great. Love it so much.

    • Elvick November 2, 2012

My Love Is Your Love is from 1998 though. That’s a different time.

People are quicker on getting bored with an album these days. Because there’s so much music, and it’s so easy to find it all. People want the next album quick, not for them to continue with the same one forever.

      S*** has changed.

Yes, lifetime sales are more important, but that doesn’t mean people have the same patience to stick with an album for as long.

  109. Siddy October 24, 2012

I want her next single to be “Can you hear me now?”

    • Jessica October 24, 2012

Next single? She’s lucky if RCA ships more CDs lol

    • whoru October 25, 2012

yeees hun “can u hear me now” and “slower” or ‘sick” lawd she sings the hell out that song “slower” that last verse run is CRAYYYYY! whew chile! this girl can SANG!!

      • monicanandbrandystan October 28, 2012

i also call sosick, slower, do you know and music are all best bets from that super dupa album. this album is so classic with a twist that i encouraged everyone to get a copy cuz you’ll never regret it.

I bought the deluxe edition at Target today. The album might be off to a slower start than fans would prefer but don’t be impatient, she’ll be alright. Props to any R&B singer who is secure and has enough sense of self to not jump on the corny pop bandwagon. We deserve better than that.

    • monicanandbrandystan October 28, 2012

forget these hater with their limited appreciation to good music cuz they have no clue whatsoever.smh

  111. TJ October 24, 2012

    Again…
How can ANYONE call Monica a FLOP when Brandy sold less? MATH PEOPLE MATH!!!

    • kythaman2u October 24, 2012

I hate to play further this into this Brandy vs. Monica silliness, because I do like Monica too, and worst of all it’s old…very old…but let’s not act like her few thousand more in opening week sales means anything. For all intents and all purposes, they did equally as bad.

Furthermore, this isn’t about opening week numbers. In the grand scheme of things, first week sales ultimately don’t mean s***. Monica’s album has been out for 6 months, Brandy’s album is a week old. It’s premature to label the latter a flop. But after 6 months does anyone suspect that a match is going to be ignited under the former? My guess would be no. Let’s wait and see if after 6 months Brandy’s album has sold more or less than Monica’s before we start acting like one got “slayed” by the other.

    • monicanandbrandystan October 28, 2012

you kids need to be ban from visiting social networks site cuz all you do is cause commotions and nothing.smh

  112. TJ October 24, 2012

For the fifth time in a row, Monica has secured a top ten Billboard album debut, this time with her latest disc New Life. The set comes in at #4 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart, selling 69,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

New Life is Monica’s seventh studio set, and she tells ABC News Radio that when she began crafting it, she had purposely moved out of her comfort zone. The disc, “is just me talking about all of the amazing things that have happened because I believed in me enough to walk away from certain things,” she says. “Knowing when to let go and move forward is very important. Although it’s not easy, there are great things on the other side.”

Living “fearlessly,” as Monica describes it, has paid off for her. “I’ve made new relationships with producers and writers, which has been great for the music,” Monica adds. “I met my husband. I have my children.”

And with first week sales numbers in, Monica has notched another successful debut. With the exception of her debut effort, Miss Thang, all of Monica’s discs have debuted in the upper tier of Billboard’s album rankings, according to the magazine’s report.

    • whoru October 25, 2012

u people are so WEIRD talking about Brandy and Monica! they dont give a s*** and love eachother lol. Brandy has a much larger history of acting and singing and has outsold MOnica for year upon years, so a few hundred albums at of first week sales means absolutely NOTHING! Sorry but Monica just doesnt compare but i luv them both..

    • monicanandbrandystan October 28, 2012

ok we hear ya and ???

      • monicanandbrandystan October 28, 2012

it was meant for tj btw.smh

    • ddluvmusic30 October 31, 2012

Is this post asking about Brandy or Monica??????? & by the way Monica was extremely upset with “everytime the beat drop” because she felt she step outside of her box so this is why she stay true to her type of music & her fans!!! & ONCE AGAIN MONICA IS MONICA & BRANDY IS BRANDY!!!

  113. JD October 24, 2012

Brandy has not sold 40 million Albums!!!!

    • gogetta October 25, 2012

yea she has sold over 40 mill albums worldwide throughout her career dumbass

      • LOL October 26, 2012

No she hasn’t. Riaa.com has her at 10.5 mill album sold in the US. That’s not even half of 40…. worldwide sales are never right or official.

  114. cocobutta October 25, 2012

Shout out to the portion of the 1.7m Brandy twitter followers who didn’t buy the album.

Guess some of those Moesha & Chardonnay fans wasn’t going for the music side of brandy.
Even with the multiple amounts of duplicate accounts there still should be enough out there to go buy.

In order for 1st week sales to improve you must promote 2-3weeks before the album comes out, ahve at least 2singles fully OUT that reflect the direction of the CD & go hardest on the week of release.

This only going hard on week of album release is NOT the one.

    • Kenneth Green Jr October 25, 2012

I was thinking the same thing, People mus not be checking they’re twitter because Brandy stay promoting on that album and talking to fans. Guess the retweets only equal about 66,000.00 that planned on getting the album. Thats so wierd. I bought it and its GREAT!!!!!!

      • XoMoDe October 25, 2012

Maybe that’s the problem. Maybe she should get off Twitter and go perform on some more TV shows and give some magazine interviews. People hype Twitter like it’s some kind of a “must” for celebrities these days, but I don’t see where it’s helped too many of them. They get all these followers and whatnot…but don’t even sell a third of them.

      • Kenneth Green October 26, 2012

Yea it seems as thought its not working for them. But if makes sense to believe that if she has 1.7 milliion followeres atleast 100,000 of those followers would go and get the album the day it drops. I still think that the album will stay consistant though. I was at Target the day of the sales and the cashier was like everyone has been buying this album all day. Then she said I’m getting it after work. lol I thought for sure the album was going to push a little over 100,000 units from that comment and Starz were buying multiple copies showing the separate receipts. Thats so weird, even with the multiple copies still only this much. I bought two copies, on for my iphone and a hard copy for my car. I’m thinking of getting one for my ipad but my wife would kill me, lol she thought the second copy was dumb.

    • BITCHPLEASEEEEEEEEE October 28, 2012

THIS ERA HAS ONLY JUST BEGAN SO DON’T SPEAK TOO SOON, DARRLY.

  115. Tasha October 25, 2012

But let’s just keep it real! Nobody is checking for Brandy like the used too! I didn’t want her to fail! But the STARZ said she was going to slay! Wildest Dream is wack! The Cd was not all that! To make it today you got have black and white as big fans! Not only blacks cause if it’s only blacks look what happens! You can not be straight RnB these days to make it! I know you try too please fans but to make it you got to do what takes you too the top!

    • JcrewedUp October 25, 2012

“The Cd was not all that!” This comment discounts anything that you have to say. You can talk about her sales being poor. Call her a flop. Blah, blah, blah…but NO ONE can come for the quality of the album- period. This album is amazing!

And just because YOU think that black artists should compromise their artistic integrity to garner sales does not mean I, and others, have to agree with you. In fact, who REALLY respects that??? *looks at Usher & Ne-Yo*

Anyway, carry on with your FLAWED logic.

      • Tasha October 25, 2012

        @JcrewedUp Go die!

      • Tasha October 25, 2012

That Cd was not all that! Purple Rain Cd sounds better than that s***!

    • CzarM October 25, 2012

Damn, we still got the house s**** mentality in the 21st century.

Brandy going pop would have done nothing for her. Usher and Chris tried that with their latest albums, and both are seeing their poorest sales — ever. They wound up losing much of their formerly devoted core fans (and real buying base) by trying to fence walk like that. And chances are that Ne-Yo is about to join them in that hall of shame. Where are these illustrious pop fans at to make up for what they’ve lost by trying so hard to equally carter to them? How have they been rewarded? One or two silly and forgettable thumpa-thumpa dance songs that barely touch the lower half of the top 10, while in the meantime they lost 50% of their core audience — which subsequently led to their albums tanking. They had to de-flavor themselves and plaster on Amos ‘N’ Andy smiles for THAT? Does that sound like an even trade to you?

I just have to laugh when you whitewashed clowns get on this blog condescending R&B/urban artists (especially the veterans) for staying true to themselves, their music, their fans and the tapestry of the long careers…while praising those who’re flakey and/or desperate enough to Uncle Tom themselves into a fitted pair of tap shoes — acting as though they are being lavished with all sorts of greater success for having done it. Please. What could Brandy singing some s***** ass pop song (that anyone could have recorded and is beneath her talent) have given her today that she didn’t already experience (and more of) in 2000? Because I can sure go into what it could have cost her. Shame on anyone who would endorse an artist dumbing themselves and their music down, and throwing their core audience under a bus, in order to “fit in” enough to move *singles,* because at best that’s all that will happen. Young pop fans by and large they don’t buy albums. And a million $1.29 iTunes downloads is not compensation for your $12.99 album struggling to go sell past 500k.

Urban acts like Usher, Chris, Ne-Yo…and even Pop-rock acts like Maroon 5, Train, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, etc., etc. have all recently put out tacky, throwaway dance music that is thoroughly inferior to the standards of their peak years (while not even matching the success), in order to conform to what radio station programmers think 14 year old white girls will eat up. A decade from now most of them will look back on what they submitted to between 2009 and 2012 with shame. I’d rather Brandy (or any R&B artist) not join in this circle. If it means they struggle for now, then so be it. This God-awful dance/areobics era will die one of these days and most of those who conformed to it will be pariahs who lost their fan base because of it. This devil’s deal ain’t worth it.

      • JcrewedUp October 25, 2012

        @CzarM, you betta preach!!!!!!

& I’m so GLAD that you called out Maroon 5, Train, Pink, Kelly Clarkson on their sub-par albums as well. GAR.BAGE. @Tasha is a simpleton & needs this education.

    • BITCHPLEASEEEEEEEEE October 28, 2012

  117. Todd October 25, 2012

I am a huge brandy fan i went to all the events in NY last week…personally i can care less about f****** album sales…..it doesnt mean anything to me anymore. Nobody really has big first weeks anymore expecially in the R&B genre, This is the best R&B album this year hands down only album that comes close is Melanie Fiona…Stop tryna compare brandy to other artist expecially rihanna. All of these people look up to Brandy and were excited to see her return to music. Brandy has done it all and doesnt have to prove herself to anyone. Her and Monica support each other stop tryna put them up against one another! Lets just support good music and Two Eleven is good music…..everyone who is not a fan of brandy jus buy the album and give it a listen in whole i promise u will grow to enjoy this amazing record!!

    • BITCHPLEASEEEEEEEEE October 28, 2012

I GUESS PEOPLE DONT ACTUALLY APPRECIATE GOOD MUSIC ANYMORE RIGHT???LOL

Love You Bran Bran The Album is a Pure Classic. Thanks for giving us true R&B again.

    • BITCHPLEASEEEEEEEEE October 27, 2012

      I’VE BEEN PALYING IT NON-STOP.

  120. Rez October 26, 2012

Brandy’s album might didn’t do well the 1st week of sale, but her single “Put It Down” has done well for a lead single. She even got nominateed for “People Choice Award,” so it’s not always about the album sales. It’s also the singles that you put out also. Look at Monica, she came out with “New Life” and the album sales didn’t do well, but also her 2 singles “It All Belongs To Me” and “Without You” didn’t do too well, so overall the album and singles were all flop..

    • BITCHPLEASEEEEEEEEE October 27, 2012

I LOVE YOUR SPIRIT SO KEEP IT UP.

    • GLEN GLENORE November 1, 2012

wowwwwwwww i never knew she is nominated im loving it

  121. Love October 26, 2012

Brandy did exactly what she was supposed to. I’m sure she’ll get a Grammy out of this album. It’s FIYAHHHHH! Forget these losers with no life talking about her first week sales. She’s still got more singles AND videos to drop!

    • BITCHPLEASEEEEEEEEE October 27, 2012

FORGET THE HATERS AND KEEP REPPING OR BRAN CUZ THE JOURNEY ONLY JUST BEGAN.

  122. Rez October 26, 2012

I can’t wait to see her on The Grammy. I heard she got nominated for The Grammy. I hope that she win, cause this abum deserved it.. I heard she was getting nominateed for her single “Put It Down.” They should also put her in the R&B’s album of the year. Brandy deserves it. I pray that she win it. *finger crossed*

    • BITCHPLEASEEEEEEEEE October 27, 2012

SHE GOT NIMINATED FOR TEH PEOPLE CHOICE AWARD BUT DONT KNOW ABOUT THE GRAMMYS THOUGH.

  123. Bianca October 26, 2012

Honestly I heard some of her album and I didn’t like it so I’m not surprised at the numbers. I think she was trying too hard to fit in with the sound of these pop artists like Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and it didn’t work for her. She should have stuck to her R&B roots and did some songs like Melanie Fiona or Elle Varner. I have always been a big Brandy fan I have been waiting for her to make a comeback for a long time and this just wasn’t it. She can do better once she stops trying to be like everyone else.

    • Mary Mary Why Buggin’ October 27, 2012

@Bianca, you CLEARLY have not heard the album–clearly. For you to foolishly state that she “was trying too hard to fit in with the sound of these pop artists like Rihanna, Nicki Minaj,” demonstrates that you 1) haven’t heard the album 2) know nothing about music 3) should stick to the music format (probably POP) that you know something about.

There is very limited pop on Brand’s album. & I have heard both Melanie and Elle’s albums & guess what, Brandy DESTROYS their albums and I like both of them but truth is truth.

Please stop trying to be a critic of Brandy’s work when it’s CLEAR that you know so little about her work. She has done everything but “try to be like everyone else.” “Two Eleven” is a true Brandy album through and through. If you can’t appreciate this, this has absolutely NOTHING to do with Brandy’s BRILLIANT artistic achievement. It has more to do with your very limited music appreciation.

      • monicanandbrandystan October 28, 2012

mary mary, i couldn’t agree more for taking the words right out of my mouth.lol

    • monicanandbrandystan October 28, 2012

bianca you’ve just made your point quite very clear that you are a brandy hater and nothing else. thank you and we do appreicate you stepping by. 🙂

      • Kenneth Green Jr October 29, 2012

Bianca try going to buy the album its very R&B no POP at all really. Go and get it, its a really great piece of work. If your looking for R&B Brandy is the album to get. Buy it NOW!

  124. BITCHPLEASEEEEEEEEE October 27, 2012

BIANCA, I CAN SAFELY SAY FOR A FACT THAT YOU ARE NOT A BRANDY FAN JUDGING BY YOUR COMMENT SO I WONT EVEN WASTE MY BREATH FURTHER. BTICHPLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

    • Tasha October 29, 2012

How many table coasters do you have? That s*** was wack! Nobody is checking for that flop anymore! STARZ what happened? Poor Starz talking all that s***! Lol! Told u! NO!

    • BITCHPLEASEEEEEEEEE October 28, 2012

      so???

  128. mkigz October 29, 2012

Brandy’s album is a predominantly ‘R&B ALBUM’. R&B is a genre that is not selling like it used to. So these numbers are just about right. It’s not a Pop album so of course a Pop audience arent going to buy it. It’s a great album and with further/continued promotion the album will eventually get good end sales.

    • monicanandbrandystan October 29, 2012

      THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • ddluvmusic30 October 31, 2012

        #AGREE!!!

  129. Rez October 30, 2012

I’ve finally got my copy yesterday and I’ve to say it’s one of best R&B’s album of the year. I’m sad that the sell was low, but Brandy is getting recognition this time around. Usually when your album doesn’t do well, the label move onto the next project, but Put It Down is #1 in the urban chart and she was nominateed for People Choice Award and I also heard she might be nominateed for a grammy for that song. So people can say what they want, but Brandy is getting her shine on this great album..

  130. ddluvmusic30 October 31, 2012

I don’t feel Brandy failed with this album. I feel she did a great job!!! The thing I don’t understand is why so many people dislike her?????……I’m a black female who loves her, I’m a big fan. She gave us a show(Moesha) young black females could relate to, who was doing that at the time as a matter of fact who’s doing that now???? also she’s being compared to all these new artist smfh Brandy is Brandy and they are whoever they are. I don’t think she ever tried to be them. I believe she didn’t sell as many copies as she should have because she’s not half dressed and bending over in her videos. Some of these other artist do have talent but they’re using “s** sells”. I love Beyonce voice but she was the one with the song “nasty put some clothes on now don’t cha walk out your house without your clothes on…” now a days Beyonce who was a church going girl is barely dressed. Was Beyonce selling as much albums before when she was singing about God??? As for Nicki Minaj omg anytime I see a comment that she’s best and blah blah I smh and assume it’s a child. Nicki is a hard worker but I’m sorry lyrically she’s trash!!! I like the fact she believes in herself but she’s a step a way from playboy magazine. So until the artist you so call love sell just because of their talent please don’t compare. I’m proud that as a black female she didn’t have to take the “s** sell” road. By the way Nicki dresses in kids clothes and talk about sucking d*** smh & the world doesn’t see the problem in this 0_o

  131. Lob Taylor November 11, 2012

JUst heard this album….it stank to high heavens and was so damn boring!! MY only happiness is I didnt buy this, and to the fools that did. Too bad
Brandy need new materials or just stop singing. Album boring as hell.
And to the fools thats say Rihanna is not talented…try again. Listen to each of her albums again

  132. YaBoyKEa$Y November 23, 2012

I love the album especially Slower, Paint This House, and Do You Know What You Have………It’s good to see an artist thats not in the illuminati…..you wonder why artist do so well every single time……..really look into it…..anyway great album love it from beginning to end and I copped the deluxe yeahhhhh boi!!!
