Brandy is making a beeline for the the Billboard 200 next week. The singer’s ‘Two Eleven’ LP was released this week to much critical acclaim.
Now, with a day’s sales under its belt, the first projections for the set have been released. And it looks like Ms. Norwood is on course for a high placing on the tally.

According to Hits Daily Double, the ‘Put It Down’ led album is poised to debut at #2 on next week’s count, with sales of…
65,000 – 70,000
Country star James Aldean is presently in the lead with his LP ‘Broken Bow’. The LP is set to open with blockbuster sales of 385-410k.

Granted some sects have been anticipating more, there are a number of facets to consider; the most prominent being that it’s an R&B album in 2012 (hence is impressive given the context) and that she has many a promotional stop left to go before the week’s end. These include Good Morning America, Wendy Williams, Bravo’s Watch What Happens Next, and more. So, there’s every chance – as seen with Pink last month – for the estimates to be revised higher.
And in the event they don’t, hey slow and steady wins the race, right? Given the nature and genre of the album, Gold is a reasonable goal-post, one Brandy could and should reach should the promotional push remain consistent over the next few weeks and months.

This song whether you like it or not evokes some strong feelings because of the meaning behind it, although Eminem’s part annoys me because he screams/shouts and is always forceful. I like it better than the one where its Eminem first then her (part 1). However, I think this song was better suited for Rater R….fits better there with Cold Case love, Russian Roulette, etc….than with songs in the Loud album.

This is so true, I don’t know why everyone gave you thumbs down. The gays especially are notorious for promoting microwave bubblegum pop hits, but will not support quality music. But it all comes down to the fact that whites outnumber blacks and they have the disposable income to buy albums, just look at the numbers of Country and Rock albums. I’m seeing a lot of black people supporting Brandy on twitter, FB and Instagram. I know this sounds like a stretch to some but I honestly think she’ll be in the low 100,000s. Country is in a league of it’s own. You cannot compare country to R&B sales. First of all the majority of people who purchase country are white, they outnumber all other races and have more disposable income to spend on albums. Not only are blacks outnumbered by whites, but they’ve been brainwashed by this whole dance/pop craze so some aren’t even checking for R&B.

I can name many white acts whose recent albums performed in the same vicinity as this, or lower. The rest of the top 5 under Brandy is populated by white acts; so…what’s their excuse? Don’t play the race card and put this off on Black folks not supporting their artists. If Brandy isn’t getting the #’s she or her fans would have liked, then perhaps it’s HER team that slacked when it came to promotion. If you weren’t already closely following Brandy, chances are you didn’t even know she had an album coming out. She and her people are the ones who need to step up their game when it comes to promoting her name and music, and engaging music buyers. Seems to me that they just assumed that Brandy is known and beloved enough that they could put something out and it would immediately draw a large crowd. Please.

It’s her teams own fault. They haven’t been aggressive with the promotion of this album. For the month leading up to the release, Brandy should have been everywhere. She should have been at the VMA’s, she should have been on all the night time talk shows. She should have performed on some big primetime reality show. There should have been specials on the music channels. There should have been Billboards, magazine ads, etc., etc. Instead she’s been doing piddly appearances with Tom Joyner and whatnot. Brandy needs new management. I get the sense that her people now are basically struggling to get her booked. She needs a manager who is a promoter and basically a snake who will barter, proposition, connive, threaten, blackmail on her behalf.

I hate the RnB excuse, no one forces these artists to release RnB music, not a single soul. Kelly Rowland had higher figures and she had the #3 spot, Brandy should do better. Here’s hoping the album has longevity. Why stick to this genre when many RnB artists are struggling to even reach gold. Surprised that the 1st week predictions are so low. I saw at least (or was hoping) 210,000 considering Monica’s “Still Standing” come back album was 184k and Brandy is bigger. This is worse than Kelly Rowland’s 3 albums…
Don’t know really. Since “Put It Down” has risen Brandy HAS been doing a lot of promotion that Kelly DIDN’T do. So therefore if she keeps it up, (as Kelly didn’t) she may have a slow seller on her hands and not a non-seller…the former is better than the latter.
Since this album has many tracks she’ll need about 5 good singles (with videos, no questions asked) between now and next summer to keep the album afloat. That’ll probably help get it to the “Gold” mark.

I wasn’t expecting these numbers, this strikes me as very odd. To be honest, I can’t understand why this decade seems to be so unforgiving to so many superstars that have had flourishing careers in the past. The decline really baffles me, but I’m still proud of Brandy and this project. I think it’s a phonomenal piece of work that really showcases Brandy’s unique talents. Most of those people getting satisfation in seeing an artists like Brandy “fail” should ask themselves if their fav even accomplished half as much. There’s a lot of living in the past here and if starz decided to alot of favs really would be slaughtered. Anyway, I’m not interested in feeding into that or entertaining the narrow-minded. This era isn’t over yet and there’s a fight on our hands (those that love Bran). Don’t give up and ride for her if you want her to succeed. She’s not giving the sam eopportunities that some lazy artists get today. It’s life and we’re used to working twice as hard as our neighbor sometimes to win! I wish Bran luck and I’m going to stand behind her whether she get the sales or not. Stanning for numbers is not the business!

well , I’m NOT surprised tho , because of the following reasons which can be applied to any album that belongs to the same genre as of ” Two Eleven” :
1. this album is a comeback album of a BLACK R&B FEMALE artist. now you can guess what i want to say when i typed them in caps
2. the album is R&B , no matter what you gonna say , R&B is not HOT as it used to be and kind of fading internationally ” not in your neighborhood” because of the lack of support from R&B Lovers and them R&B artists going after the mainstream pop to get the easy hits [ name your fav R&B artist in here]* .
3. Brandy’s LEAD single ” put it down” is a STRUGGLE and average listener will find a difficulty in supporting it normally , the music video came MONTHS after the song was released , so how can u support such single unless you are a Stan of her ?!
and let’s not get to iTunes and it’s release date in there ….
4. she didn’t perform the lead single in well-known platforms like when other artists do ” see gaga reveal BTW at the grammy’s for example”.
so i appreciate she stayed real to her artistry , but we all knew this gonna happen, the music scene is not the same anymore , we are in the age of “LMFAO” and ” gangnam style”
, and considering she’s black and doing R&B in 2012 …… i salute her attempt.

At the end of the day people have to respect that this is a career.
Yes they’re musicians and artists but this is their bread and butter. Love them or hate them they have families to support, children to feed, a life to live.
People want to hate on Adele for singing SOUL as if she stole something from someone, but the fact is she’s singing beautiful music and she managed to be very successful at it. I’m sure there’s a dozen reasons Brandy’s sales are so low but the reality is they are low. Imagine if this was a new artist and not Brandy who’s been in the game for years? Their career would be dead as a result.
Frankly speaking something’s gotta give. People always bitch and say music today is terrible but then they don’t support the music they claimed was better. If you really claim to love R ‘n’ B then you HAVE to support the genre otherwise it WILL die out.
Artists need money to live like everyone else. If they don’t make that money then they aren’t able to make art either. Real talk…black R ‘n’ B sells to black people. If black people don’t buy Black R ‘n’ B…shrugs shoulders.

I predicted her to sell around the same amount. Usually the sells are accurate from these guys. She can possibly pull off 75k to 80k by the end of the week. I don’t think any higher… I happen to think tht Good Morning America doesn’t really help blk r&b artists, Most of the audience are older & white. The only show I think could help her is Wendy Williams.

How do you expect to sell by only releasing one moderate hit? She didn’t really start promoting this CD until last month. She really dropped the ball ob this one. I downloaded this album and tbh I didn’t like it. Her last album.was a looot better.

With the help of a reality show, Monica was able to get 180k. Keyshia had good album sales because of a reality show. However, her last album did not do that well because she did not have a reality show at the time. Woman to Woman show do ok because of the reality show on BET now. DO you see the power of reality shows? I am happy but disappointed in the album sales, but it’s cool. I got my on I tunes and friday I will purchase a physical copy!

I don’t think any fans should be arguing because the fact of the matter is, EVERYBODY is struggling. No artist today that was relevant at least 7+ years ago is selling the same amount of records they used to sell. This is not “the music industry” it’s an economy issue.
If half of the people on this post weren’t able to comment unless they bought the album, this post would be empty. That’s the issue, now a days fans would rather sit behind a computer screen and argue with one another instead of taking that time and energy to buy your favorite artists music. No one would argue if you guys just supported.
I don’t think anyone expected blockbuster sales for this album. Just because it’s her “comeback” it does not mean she should be selling like crazy. She has to gain her fan base back first and foremost and I’m not talking about the fake fans who only support on twitter. As long as she continues to push this project, she will eventually hit gold or close to it, which is a success for an R&B album. That will set her up for success when she releases her next album and so on and so forth.
The problem is everyone wants immediate results, that’s not reality. It’s simple, put your money where your mouth is & support the artist.
Someone said something about people buying into rap but not R&B, but guess what? Hip-Hop fans support their artists (Drake, Lil’ Wayne, Jay-Z, Kanye, etc.) You don’t see their fans on here arguing with one another, they buy the albums. Point blank period. Maybe you guys should be the change you want to see.
Anyway, this is a great album and that’s all that matters in my eyes. She worked extremely hard and it shows. I’m proud of her and regardless to how many albums she sells it’ll still be one of her most critically acclaimed albums, which matters more than anything else. GO BRANDY!

She should have had two or three pop-ish songs on the album, at least to plug as singles so as to push the album off the shelves. She should have called Alexandra Burke and told her ” I want goodnight goodmorning back so I can put it on my album”. I like two eleven but the music business is a business. You cannot waste the label’s money like this, the label also has to pay its employees who also have families to feed and mortgages to pay. Artists should now realize that the 90s is long and gone, time to start researching and find out what sort of music is selling and how you could incorporate your sound to that. The music industry has changed a lot, we are in the iTunes generation were someone wont necessarily buy your album but simply buy the songs they like. In this generation, there’s also a lot of music that an album in excess of 12 songs could be deemed boring, especially if it’s the same sound.
Ciara better consider overdose and Living it up as her next single choices if she wants to at least have a chance. Kelly Rowland better also have some dance numbers on her upcoming album. Race has nothing to do with it, even Nelly Furtado flopped, it is simply the music and the artists arrogance of not realizing that they’re in a different generation. Artist better start researching because the industry has changed a lot.

I stopped reading after that. No she shouldn’t have, because it’s not what her core fan base want to hear from her. People like Usher, Chris and I predict Ne-Yo coming up, have proven that trying to manipulate the buying public with albums that are half pop-pandering and half R&B-obliging doesn’t stimulate sales. It’s disingenuous and everyone knows it. Long time fans feel like they’ve been sold out and damn near boycott…and in the meantime, the “new generation” doesn’t pick up the slack. They might casually buy the pop-pandering single for a buck and a quarter, but won’t buy that artists album for ten bucks. And high single sales don’t make up for a flop album.
Point blank: when artists throw their core fan base under the bus in order to appeal to what’s trendy and “right now”, their career becomes a ticking time bomb. The of-the-moment fans who were won over because the artist played follow the leader are fickle and can’t be depended upon for the long haul.
If Brandy had put out some cheesy bubblegum dance/pop single, she might’ve scored a top 10 single (that would have aged disgracefully) and radio play, but she still probably would have sold the same amount of albums.
It’s the people who loved “I Wanna Be Down” and “The Boy Is Mine” who will have bought tickets to see her in concert, and will always hear her out when she come out with a new album…not the kids who will buy something that sounds like LMFAO because that sound is hot right now.

True. There’s nothing special about mid October. They should have pushed it back further to the Xmas shopping season. Overall, I blame these low sales on her team and management. These numbers could have been better had they been more strategic and aggressive.
RCA has bigger artists, so they’re not going to make promotion of Brandy’s album the companies biggest priority. Plus they’re still basically trying to get organized after all the Arista/Jive/J artists they inherited. I think they went ahead and haphazardly put out Brandy’s album now because they didn’t want to push it back yet again and have it hang over their heads. In the meantime, her management team seem totally confused and ineffectual in promoting her. And I think her previous failed efforts before this one has shaken Brandy’s confidence to the point that she herself isn’t being much of a whip-cracker when it comes to making sure the people she has working for her are grade-A and on their game.
The album is off to a bad start, but I think it’s still early enough to save it if they act fast…the window of redemption is very small. If Brandy and her team don’t do something dramatic and very soon, it’ll be curtains.

Why is everyone so hung up on first week sales?? I for one don’t care about 1st week sales. Longevity of an album is more important. What if someone sales 300,000 copies the first week and then not much more after that? Will people still remember that first week?
As weak as R&B music sales are these days, I still believe good music will last! This album is getting a good amount of buzz now. It can still be around for the long haul. Stay positive.

I love r&b and respect Brandy, Monica, and Beyonce they are all my girls and came in this game young and together to hate on any of those women is wack to me. In my opinion album was solid but her team missed the mark and has to go but at the same time we ar talking about an artist that has 2 previous faile albums and was going through alot we all knew the risk and so did Brandy with her sound and releasing an album. The album is currently at 1.3 mil in the U.S. no matter how hard yall try Beyonce wont go away and she shouldnt have to neither should Brandy, Monica or anyone who still wants to make music its not fair shes being treated like that because yall jealous that woman is loved by millions and loves Brandy and Monica. lol EXACTLY!!!! I buy my albums and only support r&b acts I only bought one hip hop album this year and that was GOOD MUSIC but other than that I usually support my R&B divas. My fave is Jill Scott loved her last effort but I respect all these women and it sucks because i stan but i dont disrespect or do the type of stanning where its dissing other r&b women. I’ll diss Taylor or xtina and Britney but not my r&b girls because we are out numbers but as a black woman I hate how we hate on eachother and I hate how these “stans” talk shit and get mad and defensive when its done to them. I refuse to use cutesy terms like “Beyhive” and “Navy,” because they’re stupid. I’d rather be more literal: Beyonce fans, Rihanna fans.
That being said, I too haven’t seen too many Beyonce fans in this – or many – Brandy threads being disrespectful towards her. Beyonce has never been anything but respectful and gracious where Brandy is concerned, and aside from a few sporadic loons, I generally don’t see fans of Beyonce being disrespectful to Brandy. What I see, rather, are immature Rihanna fans in here trying to instigate drama between Brandy fans and Beyonce fans where there is none. And I hope that most Brandy fans are mature enough to not take the flimsy bait being dealt by these 15 year olds.

exactly Brandy has a solid album so the question from her fans should be what happens from this point. I love so Sick and Do You Know as singles. The Sean Garrett track is the weakest on the album but its the only upbeat song on the album. I think her team needs to try getting the songs into movies, tv shows etc like Adele team did for her I know its a stretch but it has to be better way to support such a good album.

I do agree the Starz was wreckless this era with Brandy and they start going at stans of women that were still very much in the game instead of aligning with them. They hate on Rihanna but she keeps getting #1 records and sales consistently, hate on Monica but the album before everyone was bumping everything to me and she did sold numbers and instead of focusing on Bran they decided to piss off alot of stans. The numbers aren’t even a deal breaker. Brandy has already won. These numbers aren’t half bad for Brandy, considering that she’d been off the music scene for almost four years. And it was the rihanna, bey, and monica stans who were the ones who were in here starting mess.
Now let me clear a few things up! Beyonce is no longer this generation’s IT girl, she has been outsold (WW) and outcharted by Rihanna, Adele, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift have all outsold beyonce this past decade. It’s funny how beyonce stans claim she’s the standard for female artists, but she’s getting dragged by her fox tail weave her damn self.
On to Rihanna. She’s just a walking, living music box. She has no talent at all. She can’t sing, she can’t dance, she’s just a rebellious island girl with a thick accent who makes microwave disposable pop music. She has no choice but to release an album every year to stay current, otherwise she’ll become dated, late, and irrelevant.
Monica saw success with still standing in 2010, but that was in 2010! The monica stans need to let go of their still standing wigs and get into reality! This is 2012! She released four singled from new life and NONE of them cracked the top 10 on the R&B charts, and none of them even impacted the Hot 100. Still standing sold 180K in one week. New life in six MONTHS couldn’t even match that. Brandy’s lowest selling album sold more the 1st week than new life, and overall thus far and it even had a Top 40 single. How sad for monica. This is a lessson, especially for monica fans. Her fanbase can be just as fickle as anyone else’s. God don’t like ugly, and it ain’t cute at all. Let this be a lesson to you all.
This is a great for Brandy considering albums sales for R&B are down. Brandy’s been away from music for years. And let’s just be real and call a spade a spade, not many of your faves can do what Brandy has done. Just be real and ask yourselves, how many of your faves can take multiple four year breaks from music, come back, and still receive a respectable amount of success? I’ll wait, and won’t get many answers.
All these people who tryna shade and hate Brandy can go jump in a river for all I care. She has endured struggles, personal and professional hardship that most of you would NOT be able to overcome. The fact that she refuses to give up on her career and keep fighting is a true testament of God and what he can work through with Human strength. Anyone who has a problem with what I say can choke on ice cold salty ass hog balls.

That’s not true. Brandy’s lowest selling album “human” sold 73k in it’s first week and New life sold 70k in it’s first week. Seeing as how r&b sold much better in 2008 (when human was released) that actually speaks volumes about Monica’s longevity in the industry.

Brandy fans have a reason to celebrate her her life is a true testimony to human strength. IMO, Brandy doesn’t have anything to prove sales wise, she’s already sold over 40 million albums, she literally does NOT need to sell another copy, she is set for life trust! We have no reason to hide under a rock and feel ashamed as this is a triumphant victory for her, regardless of the numbers.
Truthfully, RCA has been very cautious and last minute with her promo but considering the state of the industry, the decline of R&B music selling, and Brandy’s 4 year break from music, these aren’t bad number for her at all, very respectable IMO. Anyone who says it’s underperforming because of the content of the album has either not heard the album, or maybe don’t like or, or maybe you’re one of MANY who simply does not understand what she’s trying to do in music. But that is okay, I wouldn’t expect many casual fans or listeners to really get her.
This is about Brandy, and these are just predictions. But the fact that she’s drawn so much attention to this post gives me hope that this has potential to be an extended era.

For the US the HITS charts are usually spot on and her international sales didnt seem good at all either sad to say. I know the album is really good and the last album I enjoyed like this was Beyonces 4 album and Jill Scotts album. In current times, people say I like this person so I won’t support anyone else. Instead, we should be saying, R&B needs to come back let me support everyone who is trying to save this genre. I completely agree but R&B music is just so boring now. With thus economy I’m not spending my money on music unless it’s good. Miguel, Marsha Ambrosius, Jhene Aiko have/will get my money for their albums. That’s because they make refreshing R&B music. To me, Brandy’s album was bland. No catchy hooks, bland beats, and some of the lyrics are so basic I can’t even believe that Brandy would sing it and think people would be ok with it. I expect more from her and she let me down with this album.

Although i do love the album, her unreleased songs over the past four years had a feel to them, a different feel, a unique one, a feeling that i started to like while listening to her, she kind of went backwards for me with Two Eleven which has a full moon and afrodisiac mixed in together.
How high and Make believe deserved to be on this album,….i think….
But a great album is a great album nonetheless and i’d like to see it succeed more.

Where are the starz now that was talkin all that shit when Monica’s “New Life” did this kind of numbers first week out. Two Eleven is a FLOPPPP. I knew it from the jump, she better be glad Put It Down did what it did, because this album would have sold even lower. Monica did her numbers without a “Radio hit” and it was straight off her true core fanbase. Dont get me wrong tho Brandy’s album is cute and she sounds good on some songs. KARMA is a bitch. You cum drops just need to support real music and stop bootleggin shit.
