Superbowl 2013: Beyonce Soars On Billboard’s ‘Social 50’

Published: Saturday 27th Oct 2012 by David

Beyonce, for anyone who’s followed her career long enough, stands as one of the only ’90s newbies’ to hold more weight as a star today than she did ‘back then’.

A feat that many make the mistake of overlooking, recent years have seen the performer elevated to ‘living legend’ status in honor of her skills on stage- but more importantly- the military-esque campaigns that ensure she stays ‘on top’ even when on hiatus.

It’s for this reason many fans anticipate the launch of her fifth studio album next year, especially now she has been confirmed as Superbowl 2013‘s headlining act, ultimately giving the project no choice but to pull in ‘B’Day’ numbers come release week.

Now find out why she is already reaping the rewards for the gig, five months before it actually happens, below…

Upon sharing news of the gig on her official Facebook page, the post received 140,000 likes from fans.

This, forcing her five spots on Billboard’s Social 50 tally, which ranks the most popular acts on social media outlets that week by counting weekly additions of ‘Facebook Likes’, song plays, Twitter followers, video and page views.

Once the announcement had been made, Carter then welcomed an impressive 319,000 new Facebook fans in the hours following, securing her the #15 spot on the list which saw Adele come in at #3 and Rihanna hold court at #7.

An indicator of things to come for the Grammy winner, her ascent on the chart will come as positive news for brands hoping to capitalize on her forthcoming campaign, with her ‘Social’ stock set to rise even further nearer the performance (February 3rd 2013).

Let’s hope so. For, as the gargantuan success of Taylor Swift‘s ‘RED’ proves, strength in branding should always equate to strength in numbers- especially when that brand is as powerful as Beyonce‘s.

She won’t be as big as Madonna. She doesn’t cater to that wide range of an audience. She’s mainly r&b/urban with a few pop records here and there.

    • Mya October 27, 2012

Actually Beyonce touches a BIGGER audience than Madonna from OLD to Young to 6 year old kids all know Single Ladies, from Black To White. No 6 year old watches Madonna or know any of her music. PLUSE Beyonce is GREAT to look at from the guys stand point she’s S***, Beautiful and has a Body out of this WORLD. Madonna NOT so much.

Congrats King Bey for being no.15 on the billboard’s social 50….Now this feat should get corporates to pump in millions of dollars to her brand…Is that all i’m supposed to say dear Samantha??

  12. NEVER THAT SERIOUS October 27, 2012

Lets hope for her and the hives’ sake that the 13 minute superbowl gig does all the miracles it failed to do to all the other headlining acts that came before her…we are so amped for the superbowl 2013 that we wld rather watch King Bey than the actual game…
IF TGJ CONSIDERS RITA ORA A GLOBAL SUPERSTAR,THEN BEYONCE IS OBVIOUSLY A LEGEND ON TGJ……Food for thought Samantha, when a hot new urban blog with interesting articles shows up,guys like myself, faf, monstarebel,mc,s****** blonde, gilberto, rude navy, dossome, johnvidal, benron, lax and everyone else will leave your poor site for the hot new site…you’ll only be left with davidina and the great lacefronce (tgj icon)…..

    • MC October 27, 2012

      lol! This!

    • BLUE FRESH October 29, 2012

Well if she wasn’t a serious legend already, the WORLD MIUSIC AWARDS wouldn’t give her “THE LEGEND” award back in 2008.

And as you and me know,
      The WORLDMUSICAWARDS >>>>> You opinion

      😀

  13. pat October 27, 2012

she needs a hit…the only people highly anticipating this SB performance are black women and sissies (no shade)…..she has to crossover again…

    • BLUE FRESH October 29, 2012

      🙄

      She needs a hit?

What do you call “Best Thing I Never Had”, which has to date sold 2.9 million digital downloads worldwide?????

Why can’t it be just considered a “HIT” while in fact IT IS???

  14. Elijah October 27, 2012

    • mc the place to be!! October 29, 2012

boy stop madonna mariah usher are still here on earth you just tried it and beyonce wasnt even relevant in the 90s #STOP

  17. mobwife October 27, 2012

LMAO these FAKE AS* CHARTS make me laugh! 🙂

I told you ppl the MUSIC INDUSTRY & MEDIA work intandum to support or DESTROY an artist! So Bey’s appearence at Bearclaw along side her “beloved” husband didn’t boost her standing on the FAKE Billboard MANUFACTURED Social 50 Charts a few weeks back 0_o?

Again, it never fails whenever an artist who is also a “MEDIA DARLIN” produces a CD, a film or has an apparence, the FAKE, BIASED AS* MEDIA begins to promote the hel out of them. A lot of money is made during the Superbowl. I guess they want to make sure folks tune-in to make all the money they can…LOL

***Beyonce is going to slay during the 2013 Superbowl halftime show. IMO But its interesting to note just how FIXED & RIGGED the Media and Music Industry actually are, and how very closely they work together to deceive the public!!

    • Settle4U October 27, 2012

You are clueless sweetheart, the social 50 has always been there and tgj even used to do posts when rihanna hit number one on it, so fall back b****.

  18. RUDE NAVY October 27, 2012

    Beyonce Is NOT a LEGEND.

dancing on a table and jumping off it WHILE wearing HEELS and being PREGNANT 🙄 and SINGING at the same time.

    She’s A SUPER WOMAN , not a HUMAN.

    • BLUE FRESH October 29, 2012

The World Music Awards awarded her “Legend” in 2008. #Deal.

  24. Benron (King Of The F****** Navy) October 27, 2012

Watc hher fans rejoice when if you asked them a wek before this chart was irrelivant.

    • TinaMinaj October 29, 2012

LOOL the difference is You won’t see Bey fans putting this and TONS of other minute accomplishments among Bey’s great accompishments because it isnt that big a deal. For Rihanna on the other hand, there aren’t many great things she has accomplished…

  25. LTM October 27, 2012

Congrats to Bey but this chart is irrelevant and useless

  26. Hi5 October 27, 2012

Next year is shaping up to bey Beyonce’s year. Good for her.

    • Lax October 27, 2012

If them dam Rebublican get’s in office
we all are going to have to run like Hell!

  27. whocares October 27, 2012

“elevated to ‘living legend’ status in honor of her skills on stage- but more importantly- the military-esque campaigns that ensure she stays ‘on top’ even when on hiatus”. She can never do what MJ or Whitney did. Even in their passing we can remember and rejoice in the timeless music. Beyonce will be remember only for ass shaking stage theatrics and bull doze marketing and promotion. Hmm what about her music? Stage performance is only a small portion. What will she leave behind musically to celebrate. Times change. Stans get older and move on. She keep focusing on that ghetto ass patyaweave club music. But shell be able to shake that ass for how many more years until a new wave of young listeners dismiss her for being old crusty and irrelevant. Lol that’s right u guys put it there. Imagine a career that spans more than a decade and yet she’s made no significant contributions to actual music. Damn shame.

    • whocares October 27, 2012

wasnt finished. so double post. stans are free to go in on me because I just did. I don’t care. But you all know Im right.

      • TinaMinaj October 29, 2012

Well you clearly dont know much about Bey’s music…coz last i checked her last album had not a single club-esque song…

  28. whocares October 27, 2012

Imagine a career that spans more than a decade and yet she’s made no significant contributions to actual music. Alica Keys has. In her defense she tried with the last two albums but it didn’t take. Because on top of everthing else she’s ingenuine. The only genuine thing about her is that dumb founded look she always wears when ever someone presents something to trivial for her simple mind to process. “uh uh uh I am so blessed.” LOL ten years of that. She’s just a pageant girl operating on autopilot and collecting checks. Damn shame. I’m sorry stans, I aint never been no fan of this girl. Her vocals are alright at best. You have other people who have way better vocal talents and even though they may not be celebrated on the level that Beyonce is, they’re still better. IE Christina Aguilera baby!

  29. Quetta October 27, 2012

Sam must have really wanted to do a post on beyonce, lol.

  33. booze703 October 27, 2012

    BEYONCE WILL TAKE OVER 2013!!!

    SUPERBOWL PERFORMANCE FEB 3…
SHE SHOULD PERFORM CLASSICS WITH NEW ARRANGEMENTS..
THEN SHE SHOULD RELEASE A NEW SINGLE A WEEK AFTER (SHE ONLY HAS A WEEK BECAUSE PEOPLE HAVE SHORT ATTENTION SPANS.. JUST SAYING..)

    RELEASE NEW VID: EARLY MARCH
    RELEASE 2ND SINGLE: EARLY APRIL
RELEASE 2ND SINGLE VIDEO: EARLY MAY

RELEASE 5TH STUDIO ALBUM: EARLY JUNE….

THEN STAND BACK AND WATCH THE BEYHIVE STING! IT’S THAT SIMPLE… IF SHE IS SMART HER TEAM WILL DO SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THIS!!

I SMELL A 5TH #1 IF SHE DOES THIS RIGHT!

    • Anne October 27, 2012

She has to perform at least one new song during the halftime show. What bigger/better audience to intro a new song to is there?

Beyonce is electrifying on stage so I’m looking forward to the Superbowl next year boo.

  39. ahahaha!!!! October 28, 2012

She needs to step away from the Photoshop. Since when were her eyes.greenish hazel? That’s Rihanna’s color..her songs are garbage ghetto garbage. The only thing at this stage she could do to surprise people is if she changed her tired image, changed that damn wig she’s been wearing for the last 16 years.

  40. Try Again October 28, 2012

This product has assaulted our community for over a decade
has further damaged the already low self esteem of its target market
devalued real values like education and modesty
promoted materialism, supeficiality and hypocrisy (someone giving a lap dance even if its for a performance on a married man, in front of her father, is NOT classy)
is back to decimate whatever esteem that remains

Rita Ora too, to further erode our sense of beauty, define our sense of beauty
We are tired of this and seen that it has taken us nowhere but down, anybody still trying to build us this fake, lying, scheming, copycat just doesn’t know any better, has no understanding of history and surely does not know what it means to be a strong, classy Black Woman.

  41. RENEGADE October 29, 2012

I’m like . . . a serious fan of her, but that “Superbowl Performance” hype is getting crazy, TBH.
