Kelly Rowland Dishes On ‘Year Of The Woman’ / Hits Studio With Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis

Published: Tuesday 20th Nov 2012 by Sam

Kelly Rowland‘s new album ‘Year Of The Woman’ may not be due until early next year, but that didn’t stop the Destiny’s Child diva from gushing about the project to Billboard.

The industry bible caught up with the ‘Ice’ singer at Sunday’s American Music Awards, where she dished on working with Janet Jackson hitmakers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, what the album will be sonically, and much more.

Interview awaits below…

Jimmy and Terry are one of the industry’s most gifted production duos – a fact highlighted in just about every Janet song you know and love, as well as more recent hits for the likes of Usher. Hence, we can’t but salivate at the prospect of what they’ve cooked up for Kelly. Exciting times.

Congrats or watever for gettin these legends on board but honestly her albums have never been the problem. Its the s***** promo or lack thereof. The albums were always good. But I’m still rooting for her. For the simple fact of her still bein able to have some shine & comin from a big girl group led by one of todays biggests solo stars says a lot. I just hope this time she uses her head.

i agree. I just pray she release a new single b4 the album drops. ICE is a good song and the video was definitely amazing… but i just don’t think that ICE is a strong enough single like Motivation was to push an album.

        agree

i can’t wait to ears that
kelly rowland song’s produced by TWO LEGEND. OMG
    she deserve to shine.
    i
let me tell you one thing
a record compagny do bussiness right?

the only problem with kelly is the way she promote her album ” here i am ” is the perfect example. A TRUE DISASTER. Mister KNOWLES himself think i am right. lol

So for me so much money to have theses two on the project , i hope her team are ready to support kelly for real.

she ready to shine by herself once again but she need something on her level.

Kelly looks amazing and absolutely stunning in her video for ICE! She, Brandy & Keyshia Cole should have been invited to perform but it’s the AMAs and they don’t give a sweet ass about anything but POP & COUNTRY!

It’s a damn shame that if some of these r&B artists didn’t tweet pics of themselves we wuld have never known they even attended that fake crap award-give-away!

  10. Simply me November 20, 2012

“My Black Barbie Doll ” she looks gorgeous !!!!! i hope she has much more success with this new album year of a woman. much love !

    • BitchICan’tEvenSpellWelfare November 20, 2012

Yes!!!! I want the ENTIRE album produced by them.

Still don’t understand why she’s releasing her album around the same time as GaGa and Beyonce unless she doesn’t mind being hilariously out shadowed by the two of the biggest pop stars…

It doesn’t matter which producers she hires GaGa and B have the two biggest following in the industry the beyhive and the monsters don’t play, even if their respective queens material is not great (born this way, 4) they still buy the shite and make it best selling.
Does she forever want be overshadowed by beyonce? She should have gone for a November release same week as Xtina she probably would have debuted higher than her on the bb200…

But Kelly is a completely different artist than Beyonce and Gaga.

I love all three & I see no overlap at all. I will purchase all three.

And by the way, “4” is great and “Born This Way” MADE me a Gaga fan.

    • amina November 20, 2012

      you are hilarious!!!

i think the perfect timing for her is before Beyonce.
But its her time to shine NOBODY can take away her destiny. Beyonce is her friend, cousin, sister, whatever she’s not her enemy. that why she can do anything she want.
For gaga please i don’t wanna go there. i am not a fan i respect her as a singer and musician. this is just different type of music thank GOD.

she just need to promote, promote and promote like a superstar. But i don’t know if her label can take it seriously.

but the producers cost a lot af money so … for me its sounds pretty good.

      peace

  14. Keith November 20, 2012

I hope they give her all the ballads and midtempos they have written for Janet. Her last album kinda leaned in that direction a bit…she can have that lane. I will be checking for her…..

  15. Mary Mary Why You Buggin’ November 20, 2012

Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are two of my favorite producers of all time! Looking forward to this. 🙂

  16. hood_star_06 November 20, 2012

Yasss Ms Kelly – bring on album 4!

  17. Angela Wesley November 20, 2012

Everytime Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis wrote a song for Janet it was a hit.
Kelly and her team are finally listening to her fans by hiring good producers.
I was undecided about buying Kelly’s next album because I thought it
was going to be Here I am 2.0. I think this album might be better.

  18. Ajala November 20, 2012

    To @Keith and @Angela Wesley.
Janet Writes,Arranges, Composes, Samples, and Produces her own Music And there are times she will Co-Write with Jimmy & Terry that’s why the Three of them when they work together she has the best quality music Jimmy & Terry say this many times that they sometimes Co-Write with Janet with her idea in mind but she also does most of the writing on her own. That’s what makes her a true genius and one of the greats yes they wrote a couple of songs for her and Monty Morrie (From The Time) Wrote Pleasure Principal. But they always said she writes what she goes through in her personal life whether it’s relationship, herself, someone she knows ETC. She’s just like Her Brother Michael they both write what they feel heck he even work at his best when he worked with Quincy Jones & Rod Temperton(Of The Music Group Heatwave) And Rod Wrote And Arranged, Composed as well Michael’s Biggest hit ever Thriller. So even pure natural geniuses need a little push ever now and then but they both had writer’s write for them they also wrote their own Music And Also Had A Hand At Co-Writing. Michael Best Albums That Involved Rod & Quincy Where Off The Wall, Thriller, and Bad.
