Fergie Promises 2nd Solo Album; Already Working On LP

Published: Monday 10th Dec 2012 by Sam

While Fergie‘s sole solo album, ‘The Dutchess’, pre-dates That Grape Juice, it’s fair to say the Black Eyed Peas star had the industry at her beck and call during her singular breakthrough.

Indeed, hit after mega-hit defined her 2006 solo run; a fact which saw her serve as one of the biggest female acts at the time and a fact which has made her solo silence since then wholly puzzling.

For, even though the Peas went on to achieve even greater success upon their return (see: ‘The E.N.D’, ‘I Gotta Feeling’), many still long for another Fergie singular outing.

Well, it appears the 37 year old has listened to those calls.

At the Cell Phones For Soldiers Voli Light Vodka Party last night, the singer (real name Stacy Ferguson) revealed that she is working on a second solo project.

Watch her speak on it after the jump…

Peep point 2.39 onwards…

Interesting on a number of fronts. For, while so much seems stacked against the success of said project (see: unfortunate industry age/gender bias, 6 year hiatus, and the like), the fact remains…Fergie is a solo force. After all, the numbers don’t lie.

‘The Dutchess’ produced five top 5 US singles – three of which were #1’s – and all of which sold over 2 million copies digitally…each. What’s more, as per the RIAA, the album has been certified 3x Platinum in the US.

Of course, many may point to Nelly Furtado who – like Fergie – dominated the music scene in 2006 only to return six years later with one of 2012’s biggest chart flops. However, it’s important highlight that Fergie has actually been “active” in her solo downtime – racking up millions in sales and dollars with the Peas.

Whatever the project’s fate, it’s one we’ll be keeping a close eye on! For now, vibe with us to some of Fergie’s biggest hits…

  12. Beyonce’s Bush December 10, 2012

Fergie makes good pop music. Don’t care how much she sells, as long as she brings the music

  13. J December 10, 2012

    YES!

Lets be honest, Nelly flopped because the album sucked, Fergie’s sure to get the best people behind her to help produce the album so i’m sure she will slay

    • NFG (No f**** Given) December 10, 2012

I didn’t even hear the full album but her first single big hoops had potential. That’s ashame it sold that low. I know it had to have something to do with the promotion though.

  14. kjxkd December 10, 2012

the duchess was basically a copy of gwen stefani’s 1st album. she mirrored her in every way but added a bit of an urban style….. gwen’s not out (as a solo act), so i guess shes gona rip off someone else

  15. ƸӜƷ MC ƸӜƷ December 10, 2012

    Good luck dear.

  16. dstrock December 10, 2012

I guess I’m here for it. I just hope that she puts out some quality music and doesn’t just try and get some quick hit. I’m afraid she’s going to try and milk some sort of s** appeal and just totally flop. I mean from the interview it sounds like it’s going to be more of a personal album but we’ll see.

By the way, anybody else think that she sounded really eloquent during those interviews? Good for her

  17. Pop Royalty December 10, 2012

it is TOO LATE now, but good Luck with that !

    • mobwife: Easy, Breezy & Beautiful just like him December 10, 2012

      THIS

  18. sammi December 10, 2012

I enjoyed Fergie’s first album, still listen to “London Bridge” to this day. Im glad to hear she’s coming with new music. Now if only that actor guy Justin Timberlake would make a 3rd album.

  19. skintightjeans December 10, 2012

    LOVE Fergie!! I’m ready!!

  20. Gilberto December 10, 2012

Yes! Beyoncé, Gaga, Fergie. 2013 is going to be so gooooood.

  21. ENOUGH ONIKA December 10, 2012

I loved Fergie’s first album, but I’m on the fence about the second album. I don’t think she’ll sell very well because her era of pop like Christina Aguilera, Nelly Furtado etc. had passed. Everyone from her era has failed and even though I like Fergie, I don’t see anything different for her..

  22. theman December 10, 2012

Fergie isn’t nowhere near the same place as Nelly F. Nelly F. is a great artist, but Fergie has been active with the peas, releasing material. If she releases the right material, along with some great songs, then she’ll do amazing. Her first album should atually be certified 4x platinum though. She has a great personality.

  23. Kyle December 10, 2012

Wow, thinking of the days when Fergie was on top as a solo artist feels like centuries ago! I would be really curious to see how she would make out if she were to release another solo album. She proved everyone wrong last time and she ended up having the last laugh so if she did it once, she might be able to do it again. Time will tell…

  24. bibi93 December 10, 2012

    Glamorous is a classik!!

  25. TeamBreezy December 10, 2012

    Her first album was everything

  26. S****** Blonde December 10, 2012

I’m not sure about her solo career but good luck, she was fierce once.

  27. Theman December 10, 2012

    Actually

  28. NFG (No f**** Given) December 10, 2012

The dutchess her FIRST ALBUM showed what she could do outside the black eyed peas and the album lived up to it’s hype. Man that was so many years ago 2006. I hope she still has what it takes and wont end being irrelevant like Cassie.

She better serve that POP good good so we cant leave these other biatches like Katy Perry and Carly Jepson in the dirt for a while. But who knows. Wish her luck!

    • ENOUGH ONIKA December 10, 2012

      Cassie has an album??

      • NFG (No f**** given) December 10, 2012

No. But it’s obvious that no one cares about her anymore. I mean King of hearts was released in Feb. It’s the end of the year. No one has heard anything from her and her song wit nicki flopped so she’s irrelevant. Even Ciara getting more hype than her TBH.

    • Kyle December 10, 2012

🙁 I miss 2006. That was a good year for music!!!

  29. Sterling Infinity December 10, 2012

She better bring it! And Nelly needs to call timbaland for a hit!

  30. Yo Mammy December 10, 2012

    Only time will tell…

It really does not look good for any Pop artists pre-Rihanna these days. That’s like the cut-off year or something lol

  31. Very Stylish Ordinary People December 10, 2012

Fergie is hot and smart, so I really hope she comes out with a quality album. Its better when there are a lot of hot quality albums out, that way you don’t overplay the one that you love and get sick of it.

I know Fergie will kill it, – oh and I would love to style Fergie.

  32. lola December 11, 2012

SHE NEEDS TO SIT HER OLD ASS DOWN!
