Frank Ocean, Drake & Rihanna Make ‘Forbes 30 Under 30’ List

Published: Friday 21st Dec 2012 by David

They’re young, talented and have the world at their feet, so it should come as little surprise to anyone that Rap mastermind Drake and ‘Thinking Of You’ sensation Frank Ocean have made ‘Forbes 30 Under 30‘ list this year.

Celebrated for accomplishments achieved both on and off the stage, the pair are joined by Pop mannequin Rihanna, who was  honored on behalf of the Def Jam music group and Roc Nation.

Details below…

Forbes explain:

“The young disruptors, innovators and entrepreneurs on our annual listing of the 30 under 30 are impatient to change the world. In each of 15 categories, ranging from energy to Hollywood, Forbes editors and reporters worked with panels of expert judges to chose the field’s brightest stars under the age of 30. In sum they represent the entrepreneurial, creative and intellectual best of their generation. Individually, they are engaging, surprising and incredibly hardworking.”

On Drake:

“The former Degrassi star earned $20 million last year, buoyed by live shows, a new album and endorsements with the likes of Sprite and Kodak.”

On Ocean:

“Buoyed by the success of hip-hop collective Odd Future, Ocean has established himself as a solo act, earning six Grammy nominations this year, tied for the most of any artist.”

Then on Def Jam’s Rihanna:

“The Barbados-born diva has parlayed pop hits into endorsements with Vita Coco and Nivea, fragrance Reb’l Fleur and sold-out shows around the world.”

  10. mobwife: ummmm….really? December 21, 2012

    YAWN!

What kind of “FUCKERY” (Amy Winehouse voice) is this? Franchesca Ocean is a power player for suckin a d*ck? We damn shouldn’t “Super Head” be on this list too? 0_o

Can we all stop pretending that the POWERS THAT BE isn’t behind this bullsh** right here? So, as long as Black Men are perceived as weak and feminine (Drakelle) or straight up and down gay (Franchesca Ocean), then they have a place in the American music and film industry. Wow….. *reading scripture & the tea leaves on this one* 🙂

    • mobwife: ummmm….really? December 21, 2012

      **WELL DAMN**

  11. Omari December 21, 2012

  17. mobwife: ummmm….really? December 21, 2012

F*** Forbes and that very scripted predictable list! Kendrick Lamar? Mac Milller? Ke$ha? Calvin Harris? Wiz Kalfia? And a cast a of characters dare I say no one has ever heard of? This is once again a great example of what LIMITED MEDIA OWNERSHIP will produce. The POWERS THAT BE….illuminati, skull n’ bones hell whoever they are, can manipulate the human mind at will now can’t they? smfh

  18. truth(i could drag the F*** ouuta icki but y, she did it on herself with reflop and no grammy nods. so ill just stomp her pissy fans p**** in chile) December 21, 2012

Ha! I was thinking almost the same thing, that if he hadn’t “come out” no one would care about him.

    • mobwife: ummmm….really? December 21, 2012

Again, what kind of “FUCKERY” is this? *Amy Winehouse voice*

    • RichandBlack11 December 21, 2012

His CD is the bomb ./………TRICKS ARE FOR KIDS

  20. BitchICan’tEvenSpellWelfare December 21, 2012

Another day, another comment section full of Frank Ocean hate.

Top Albums of 2012- where “channel Orange” ranked…

    1. Spin – #1
    2. Stereogum- #2
    3. Stereogum readers choice- #1
    4. Rolling Stone- #2
    5. Pop Matters- #1
    6. Pretty Much Amazing- #2
    7. Slant- #1
    8. NPR- Picked as a Top 50 (unranked)
    9. Pitchfork- #2

So ALL of this critical acclaim can ONLY be chalked up to the fact that Frank once had a relationship with a man. It has NOTHING to do with the quality of his work at all??? Okay. Whatever makes you feel better.

Anyway, congratulations to Frank, Drake, and Rihanna.

    * blasts “Lost” *

Drakeisha went and got her tan on. Cute…

Calvin Harris has been heating up the airwaves with an array of new music. Yet, until now, little had been divulged about an attached album. All that changed moments ago when Scottish hitmaker formally announced new LP ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1’ (due June 30th). Aptly titled, the project houses previously heard… Read More
