Fresh from wrapping The X Factor UK, the show’s “winning judge” Nicole Scheringer jetted out to Jakarta to flaunt her own talents at a private gig.
Backed by famed composer David Foster, the singer’s Indonesian set included a unique take on Jennifer Holliday’s ‘And I Am Telling You’ – a song more recently popularised by Jennifer Hudson in 2006′s ‘Dreamgirls’.

Since blazing onto the scene, Scherzinger has shown that she has the enviable ability to “do it all”. Textbook Pop or purposefully “roughed-up” such as her showing here , the 34 year old is a musical chameleon – a fact which should be celebrated.
As for the performance, it was generally solid and showcased a edgier layer to the singer’s voice. That said, we prefer our Nicole more on pitch and popping her particulars.

Nicole has a very lovely voice, now with that said, NICOLE does not have enough soul in her voice. im not the biggest jhud fan as far as doing all types of songs, but this song is made for voices like hers, not opera turned pop singers. her voice isnt the prettiest, so when she does that growl that jen holiday does, it isnt a pleasant sound. sorry, if u dont got soul, please dont sing this song. the voice needs more husk to it and be hardy for this kinda song. and nicole doesnt have that
Anyways, i dont blame her, i blame david foster for telling these girls they can sing songs they arent vocally capable of doing. (ashanti and that whitney song…)

This is not the first time Nicole has tackled a song way too big for her voice, she seems to think she has a big voice like Mariah, Whitney, Celine, Jennifer Holliday, and Jennifer Hudson, but it’s not so. She needs to stop thinking she got this big ass voice cuz ya don’t hunty!
