Retro Rewind: Rihanna Covers Mariah Carey’s ‘Hero’

Published: Thursday 27th Dec 2012 by David

An icon. A legend. One of the greatest voices to grace Pop music.

While the above can all be said of Mariah Carey, there’s no denying that her time at the top has come with its difficulties.

However, above all the trials and tribulations life has thrown at the ‘Triumphant’ diva since her chart arrival, none can compare to the horror that was Rihanna‘s cover of her Afanasieff produced, ‘Hero‘.

Both shocking and disturbing, Rihanna’s take on the song still darkens many a happy memory related to the song- even eight years after it happened.

However, as to ensure nobody feels left out, TGJ dedicates today’s edition of ‘Retro Rewind’ to the ghastly cover, hours after her talented rival Rita Ora wowed fans with a cover of Carey’s Christmas classic ‘All I Want For Christmashere.

Pain and distress below…

Our sentiments exactly B, our sentiments exactly.

I can’t believe you went there, Sam! In Rihanna’s defense this song is very hard to do but still a horrendous cover it was. I loved her Mariah Carey-esque hand gestures that she was doing though, I do the same thing lol.

Look where she have came from , Literally nothing,
She attempted Mariah song, and got through them
first hurtles, and has done a super job of taking her
time and building a strong Foundation. Rihanna has
showed the world and many of us what you can do if
you are willing to work long and hard, and give it all
you have got. Rihanna was talked about as a youngster
but she still has showed the world that shes willing and

b****** aint thinking about Lana right now? but yet she topped Google’s most searched woman of the year, and yet The Paradise Edition could reach the top 10 without any live performances and without a hit single. when ppl look bck, they will look to Lana as a piece of art, but when they see Rihanna, Rihanna will be a f****** w****.
and u clearly need to watch more of Lana’s performances. she CAN sing, she can sing wayyyyyyy better than Rihanna. i agree tt her SNL performance was crap, but her more recent performances are amazing, they even better Rihanna. and rmb, Lana doesnt lip sync, rihanna does! and if you are going to judge Lana’s singing ablities based on her SNL performance only, than based on the above video, RIHANNA CANT SING

I think “Hero” is Mariah best known song in the world after ‘All I Want For Christmas‘, people like Rihanna shouldn’t cover Mariah’s songs and more if it is a song from her glory days, she could sing perfectly Mariah new songs, you know the likes of Obsessed and Touch my Body but not her 90’s masterpieces but she was young and probably was inspired by her voice.

    • ƸӜƷ MC ƸӜƷ December 27, 2012

Lets also not forget the “Without You” cover is very well know (USA was the only place it didn’t smash and go to #1 I believe), songs like “we belong together” are also well known.

You seem to be forget the little detail that Mariah’s “generation” passed with Celine, Janet, Whitney, etc in the 90s before the likes of Beyonce, Xtina, Britney, etc were in the scene and she’s survived them and now she’s in a pool with a newer generation of stars like Taylor, Gaga, Rihanna, Katy, etc and best believe that if she survived Whitney, Celine, Madonna, Janet (top girls) and Beyonce, Britney, Xtina (second generations)…..she’ll survive Katy and Rihanna and remain unbothered. It also attained top five positions in Australia, Belgium and Czech Republic and peaked in the top ten of charts in twenty-nine countries worldwide, becoming one of the most successful songs in 2011 and 2012. Worldwide the single has sold 6.9 million copies making it one of best selling singles of all time.

Love the Way You Lie” is the second single from American rapper Eminem’s seventh studio album Recovery. Singer Skylar Grey was inspired to write and record the demo with Alex da Kid when she felt that she was in an abusive romantic relationship with the music industry. Eminem wrote verses to the track and chose Barbadian singer Rihanna to sing the chorus.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

The single was released through Interscope-Geffen-A&M on August 9, 2010. Critics complimented its melody and realistic themes. They suggested that it was influenced by Eminem’s and Rihanna’s respective relationships with ex-wife Kimberly Scott and ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

Eminem promoted “Love the Way You Lie” with performances at the 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo, the MTV Video Music Awards and many festivals. The music video, directed by Joseph Kahn, stars Dominic Monaghan and Megan Fox in a violent relationship and shows Eminem and Rihanna in front of a burning house. The clip had a mixed reception due to scenes of domestic violence. Some critics suggested that it alludes to the personal lives of Eminem and Rihanna.

It was number 1 on 25 weekly singles charts, including the United States’ Billboard Hot 100 for 7 weeks. The single sold more than 5 million copies in the US and became the best-selling song of 2010 in the United Kingdom. It won many accolades and was nominated for five Grammy Awards. Artists and groups such as Cher Lloyd and The Band Perry performed cover versions. Rihanna has said that its theme of domestic violence, a topic on which she claims many people do not have insight, is what makes the song effective. She later recorded “Love the Way You Lie (Part II)”, which is narrated mostly from the female perspective

    • Lax December 28, 2012

      @BOSS STFU,,,,,
@BEY HIVE, RIH HATERDS U KNOW WHO YO ASSES ARE,,,
If you begin to name black female pop stars from the 1980s until now, you’ll be hard pressed to find more than a handful. That handful includes names such as Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston. And to be honest, the list doesn’t go much further than that. Of course there have been many black female artists in the past thirty years, but there are very few who have taken over top 40.

Why is this? There’s no science to it. I think it has more to do with marketing and image. For instance, when the world was first introduced to Whitney Houston she had the looks of America’s Sweetheart and the voice of a real diva. By hooking up with record industry legend Clive Davis, he managed to help her maintain a viable MTV presence as well as appearances on national shows that garnered attention from the mainstream media. When Houston peaked in the early 1990s, she was still seen as all-American and wholesome even though she married the troublesome Bobby Brown.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

Janet Jackson also had the same innocence and appeal due to her following that was built from fans of her brothers (Jackson 5) as well as her own fans from her stints on shows like Fame and Good Times. By the time of her breakthrough album in 1986, Janet was seen as sassy and fun-loving but still relatively harmless. It wasn’t until her 1993 album, Janet that people finally saw her as a young woman with a deep and powerful sexuality. However, because of nearly a lifetime in public, she was still highly regarded.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

And then there’s Beyonce who essentially picked up where Janet left off. She fronted the childhood group of friends that became Destiny’s Child and around 2003 launched the solo career which she is currently known for. Destiny’s Child was a powerful launching pad because of their girl-power anthems and sassy attitude. But due to frequent lineup changes and other issues, the group ultimately broke up. It was hoped that Beyonce would continue the legacy of the group’s female-empowered anthems, but she opted to go in a different direction.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

Beyonce’s success has paved the way for more black females in pop, most notably Rihanna who inevitably drew comparison’s since she was signed by none other than Jay-Z at the tender age of 16. However, for all of Beyonce’s influence Rihanna’s musical style is more of a fusion of dance, pop, and reggae. But the comparisons remain nonetheless.

Beyonce released Dangerously in Love in 2003 to rave reviews and multiple Grammy wins. It was hailed as one of the best solo debuts for a young artist in several years and

Beyonce managed to stand out in an era filled with young singers leaving their groups in hope of solo success.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

        Beyonce,,,
She set the standard and booty shake for the decade with her debut single, “Crazy in Love.” The go-go inspired beats and the electrifying video garnered a lot of acclaim. She followed that up with successful hit singles.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

        BEUONCE,,
In 2006. she released her second album. The video for the first single,”Deja Vu” evoked images of Josephine Baker and the infamous banana skirt. Beyonce stated that she was paying homage to a fashion icon and trailblazer among African-Americans; she worked closely with Baker’s son even to capture the essence of the look.

Beyonce had managed to get away with that, but by the time of her third album, people weren’t hearing it. I Am.. Sasha Fierce garnered multiple Grammys, but that still didn’t silence Beyonce’s critics.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

        BEYONCE’S,,,
“Single Ladies” was a movement in 2008. The dance, the look, all infiltrated pop culture at warp speed. However, it was not without controversy. The hand motions, especially gave way to the fact that Beyonce said she was inspired by the choreography of the legendary of Bob Fosse.

But no matter how many funny SNL parodies pop up, there were steal multiple controversies about that dance among others. While Beyonce continues to say she was inspired by the looks and performances of other icons, no doubt even performing with one of them. This question of stealing has now hit a peak in 2011.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

        BEYONCE,,,
“Run the World (Girls)” borrowed heavily from African choreography troupes, but the costume looks were said to also to be taken from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, starring Tina Turner.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

Her follow-up videos, “Countdown” and “Love on Top” are also inspired by fellow iconic performances. One being a Belgian artist, another being 80’s boy band New Edition. While Beyonce continues to say it’s all an homage, the real question is where does the originality play in for her as an artist?

      • Lax December 28, 2012

It’s one thing when a younger artist is inspired by an icon to the extent they mimic a look, a movement, or even a sound but it’s another thing when the movements and looks begin to mirror another artist than reveal a distinct persona.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

Beyonce isn’t the only young superstar to face this issue, but others have overcome it. Other pop stars have had the same battles. Britney Spears faced the Madonna comparisons, but in her own right has now built her own pop empire. Usher and Justin Timberlake were both heavily compared to their idol, Michael Jackson but somehow managed to create their own sound while still being true to their influences. Justin Timberlake even re-wrote discarded tracks intended for Michael Jackson’s last studio album, Invincible, for his debut album. And while he faced criticism at first, he later reaped the rewards in the form of a few Grammys. Usher also has had massive success by experimenting with techno and dance music.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

And while there is no real way to say what constitutes borrowing or stealing, there is something to be said for forging your own identity or style but almost ten years into being a solo artist, it’s hard to classify something that uniquely applies to Beyonce. Sure she has songs like “Single Ladies” and “Irreplaceable”, but those were written by other artists and collaborators. However, her other songs and videos even seem to resemble too much of artists’ past.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

He produced most of Ke$ha’s album as well as Katy’s and other famous pop girl of the moment? He’s also a business man so yes he made a lot of money. Beyonce’s business lies in her tours, album, and other MUSIC related stuff. Dr.Dre was a really bad example to use on your part. I’m not a Rihanna hater, I have no reason to be.

I can’t believe this. Sam is so pressed. Rihanna was actually good in the beginning but she struggled in the end, but its ok cuz this song is not easy to sing. And she was like 15.
You need to end this obsession with this RITA ORA chick. She’s the biggest FLOP in MUSIC HISTORY. She will never be on RIHANNA’s level. And she MOST CERTAINLY WILL NEVER BE ON MARIAH’ LEVEL.
I swear, Sam is more childish than some of the people on this blog. And i saw the shade that you were throwing at mariah too.
Leave the bitchiness to bloggers and start acting more professional.

    • ƸӜƷ MC ƸӜƷ December 27, 2012

No need to shade Sam, he does a great job of shading himself.

      1. He said Rita was getting the crowd excited when everyone present looked like they were promised food and shelter out of homelessness and debating whether or not they wanted to just go back to begin homeless again. The crowd was dead silent even though Rita was running around like a white money in a clown’s make-up.

      2. Rita’s performance wasn’t good and no one is under the illusion that Rihanna is a great singer.

      3. Everyone alive, past, present, future and even the hermits living under a rock have seen this performance.

      4. Lastly he uses a Beyonce gif from the ‘4’ era……lets not…..

        Read it and weep
Rihanna is SHORT SELLING her mansion. The Bajan singer is asking sellers to pay $2.5 MILLION LESS than the amount she paid for the home just two years ago.

The home was just put up for listing – and is being listed as a SHORT SALE – meaning that Rihanna’s MORTGAGE on the home is greater than the amount of money she’s ASKING.

So we know what you’re thinking – isn’t it a SMART idea to do a short sale if the value of the home is less than the amount of the mortgage owed. Well the fact is that banks will NOT approve of a short sale, if they believe the borrower has the FINANCES to continue paying the mortgage. So that means unless she’s BROKE or under financial DISTRESS . . . she CAN’T do a short sale. And if she KNOWINGLY advertised the sale of her home as a SHORT SALE (like she did below) knowing that she WOULD NOT QUALIFY, that could be considered a FRAUD.

And even if they DO approve of the short sale, the DAMAGE to Rihanna’s credit would be severe. She’d be unable to get another mortgage on a home for at least 5 years.

So HOW could Rihanna be under such financial distress . . . isn’t she one of the BIGGEST ARTISTS in the world? Well maybe we can ask her MANAGER, Jay Z and em . . . .

      @16GRAMMYS,,,
A lot of these artists claim to be songwriters, but don’t always write a thing. Some, like Beyonce, serve as vocal arrangements, which points to part of the song’s composition, and thus, receive a songwriting and production credit. Others, like Beyonce, can demand credit based on their name alone. I myself have heard of new song writers looking for placement with Beyonce’s last album being told Beyonce demands a certain amount of publishing upfront (and it’s substantial) or they could “be paid handsomely” to politely remove their name from the song altogether. Fact is, Beyonce didn’t write one song on “I Am…Sasha Fierce.” Beyonce and her team have bought the rights from the songwriters and then Beyonce took credit for it. I have no idea about previous albums but it’s obvious that Beyonce never had a pen in her hand, which is a shame because Beyonce claims something she isn’t.

The navy need to just get over the fact that she’s never been a strong singer. And probably never will. I mean she has admitted she doesn’t like to train her voice. She’d rather smoke weed than rehearse. I’m also surprised that this was the performance that impressed a producer back then to get her signed. I’m pretty sure he liked the way she looked. She has a mediocre voice but at least she’s built her brand enough to be able to sing a good portion of her own songs and maybe that was her label’s plan. But she fails often to deliver her own songs live at the same time too which makes many question her credibility as a singer. And she did not sell 100 million. I love the way you lie, Navy. Keep inflating tho! Smh.

Meanwhile, at No. 2 on the Top Artists recap is Rihanna, who comes in second for the second year in a row. The star has yet to be artist of the year, despite having placed quite highly almost every year since her debut in 2005. She also ranked among the top 10 acts in 2006, 2008 and 2010. This year, however, she can crow about being No. 1 on the Hot 100 Artists tally for the first time, thanks to mega-hits like “We Found Love” (featuring Calvin Harris), which spent 10 weeks atop the Hot 100. The SRP/Def Jam/IDJMG collaboration, which arrived in late 2011, finishes 2012 as the No. 8 song on the Hot 100 Songs recap. Despite Rihanna’s track record on the Hot 100 (she notched her 12th No. 1 this year with “Diamonds”), the closest she had come to being the Hot 100’s top artist was in 2008, when she was runner-up.

When you legends and the president of the US praising you, aspiring artists citing you already you done know you aint a flop. Only the Navy think that hits on the Hot 100 is be all and end all to success. You keep them tinted glasses on and carry on looking stupid!

She was 15 then. We all act irrationally as teenagers. Rihanna is not about powerhouse vocals, just like Beyonce is not about education or personality. Anyway, she’s definitely improved since then but I really hope she never attempts to sing Legendriah again.

    • Kendal December 27, 2012

No Rihanna is not about vocals full stop. And education and personality? Nobody knows s*** about Beyonce education and you dont have to be outlandish and a rebel to have a personality. I love Beyonce for her goofy personality! Just leave Beyonce out of it. This is Rihannas #fail.

I’m sorry but you are completely dumb. Just because some classy celebrities like Beyonce keep most of their personal life a secret does not mean that they don’t have a connection with their fan base. Okay. I’m I the only one that is tired of the Rihanna shade? It’s tired, dry and not funny any more. I get that you guys at ThatPressedJuice dislike her but time and time again she has proven to stay on top of the charts, have successful eras, get magazine covers, get movie deals, successful perfumes and can book arenas anywhere. With all this Rihanna shade, no wonder you cannot get an interview from any top females/males in the game. You all sound pathetic and pressed, like get over it; Rihanna is here to stay and has solidified her spot in the game.

P.S. Rihanna you were very pitchy BUT if you were getting vocal lessons when you were younger than you would have sang that song. However, that performance was in the past and she is getting better now, all she needs is to learn how to control her voice and she will be good.

To the ones who say she can’t sing; well I can’t hold a note in Love the way you lie or California King bed but Rihanna can sing it so these stans shading her is backfiring, I know some of you cannot hold a note either so stop it like we all can blow like Whitney or Celine.

    • It’s Blue Ivy b**** December 27, 2012

This is obviously a joke, I do not expect the REAL blue Ivy to look like this. No it is not calling the kettle black because I am not shading Beyonce 24/7 like how That PressedJuice is with Rihanna; in fact, all this shade with Beyonce, Rihanna, Xtina, Lady Gaga (I admit I call her Gentlemen Gaga) and the rest is futile because these ladies do not hate each other (at least not in public) It’s just really annoying and I am over this unnecessary shade. Just report on what needs to be report on and shut up. There are dozens of other blogs that keep it cute and keep it all about the article. Not bringing up old performances and using it to shade someone just for hits. It’s pathetic.

      • Julia December 27, 2012

@ItsBlueIvyBitch I really do get your point, and it must be annoying for the Navy sometimes, but this is clearly Sams style, and its gets the Stans talking. • It’s Blue Ivy b**** December 27, 2012

This site has a new article every few hours, that’s the main reason why I keep coming back but that doesn’t mean the shade is basic and repetitive. I just wish the Hive, Navy, Lambs, Monsters, etc… can stop the shading and just stick to the articles.

  87. Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

Wait a minute, Diamonds music video is VEVO Certified? And this is after the hood hive were writing incoherently about how bad the video was. I guess the world thought differently.

    • Loyalty December 27, 2012

OmgOmgOmg VEVO CERTIFIED! *Clasps face* This is like no other!!!!!!

      • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

Yep, she is now at 3,172,123,706 VEVO views, and VEVO has to pay her royalties. When will your fav??? When??? I want to know when???

      • Loyalty December 27, 2012

        12 VMAS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 3 VMAS enough said.

      • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

Is Beyonce getting paid royalties for her VMA’s??? Nope, didn’t thinik so. Is Rihanna getting paid by VEVO and Youtube for her 3,172,123,706? YEP.

So who’s winning? Tell Bey to keep her VMAs she paid for (Riri has 2 Video of the Year BTW) and Riri will keep her royalty checks.

You still didn’t answer though, when will your fav have 3,172,123,706 VEVO views?? When???

      • Loyalty December 27, 2012

Who really cares when Beyonce has more in the bank than Rihanna anyway, check her net worth! Shes being recognised where it matters cos anyone can click on a damn video, me included! And tell me, where are your receipts for these ‘paid’ VMAS? Or is that just another failed attempt to shade?

      • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

Shes being recognised where it matters

But she is not being quoted in the histoRIH books along side Madonna, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson and The Beatles. Rihanna on the other hand is being quoted along side Madonna, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson and The Beatles so really, Rihanna is the one who is recognized where it matters.

      • Loyalty December 27, 2012

Um yes she is 16 grammys springs to mind and a lot of other achievments aswell boo. You might wanna do some research before you throw that mess around.

      • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

Show me an article that quotes Beyonce in the same sentence as Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Madonna and the Beatles collectively.

      • Davis December 27, 2012

SMH @Teenage Dream person just does not get the point lol. Rihanna is quoted alongside legends for #1s that does not make her any better than her peers the likes Gaga, Beyonce or Adele who have all achieved different things in their careers. And will be rememberd for different things.

      • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

Rihanna will also be remembered for being one of the youngest artists to sell out the Stade De France. I want to know, when has Beyonce sold out the Stade De France??? When??

      • PSA (FAF) December 27, 2012

  88. Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

It doesn’t even matter, this is Davidina trying to comfort himself after they dragged Rita Whora on the other post. The FACT remains no matter how much you hate Riri, she will FOREVER be quoted along side Mariah Carey, Madonna, The Beatles and Michael Jackson in the histoRIH books. When will your fav?? Rihanna has already made HistoRIH.

She will also be quoted in the HistoRIH books as being one of the youngest acts to sale out the Stade de France. So hate as much as you want but Rihanna is not going anywhere, her name is already engraved in the HistoRIH books.

I find this somewhere about some fans and i think is really accurate, the question was “Do you think Madonna (OR formerly MJ fans) b**** as much about their idol?.
    and someone answered this:

MJ fans come across as worshippers and see nothing wrong in anything he ever did. Total and absolute devotion.

Madonna fans can be critically but they don’t let it rule them or destroy their attitude towards her. They still will shell out mad dollars to see their idol!

Prince fans are actually 2 kinds and vastly different, there’s the fans who have moved along with Prince throughout his career and still value his output and then there’s the fans who got stuck around 1993-1995 and feel betrayed by everthing released since on a deep personal level.

What do you think of other fan bases, do they b**** about their idol?.

    • ƸӜƷ MC ƸӜƷ December 27, 2012

MJ fans: People like my dad who regard Michael as the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Madonna fans: People like my dad who hate on Madonna the most but deep down are actually stans, they also stan for Gaga.

Prince fans: The most intelligent of the bunch because they stan for his highness. My dad has no idea who Prince is, if he did he would probably hate him too.

      • S****** Blonde December 27, 2012

Lol, i think it is true MJ fans think he is second coming of Jesus and i think Madonna fans are the most proud about their idol because we love her just like she is, we don’t try to portray her as a better musician or person, we want the world to know that she is the most evil among them haha, Prince fans, most of us are very critics with his work but that’s only because we know he’s the best and that he can do better.

      • Benron (King of The Phucking Navi) December 27, 2012

Rihanna Stans: The best if they’re on my half of the navi, if they’re not they suck

      • ƸӜƷ MC ƸӜƷ December 27, 2012

I agree, I feel like Whitney and Michael fans paint a picture of divine (which they were) and neglect to appreciate them when they weren’t on top. Mariah fans do this to an extent also, but I feel like we aren’t as uptight as the Whitney and Michael fans who won’t admit that they weren’t as great, musically, before their death…..or maybe death plays a role. Madonna probably have got to be the best stans out there (after the lambs that is 😉 ) because they ACCEPT her as she is and don’t live in the past like the Whitney, Michael, and even Mariah fans do. Prince is music personified in my eyes and he is one of the very FEW people in the world alongside Freddie, David Bowie, etc that REALLY MAKE MUSIC for real so I understand. Overall, I feel like since Madonna was expected to be gone within 5 years of her debut people don’t expect as much of her as they do Michael, or Whitney, or even Mariah. Mariah and Whitney depended on their voices and once their voices were altered, I think everyone became their critic and unfortunately Whitney wasn’t able to bounce back (and I think she kinda lost her LOVE for music in the process because of media). Michael always had the media’s pressure on him to outdo Thriller (But he did!! Bad was so much better) in the sense of commercial success and dance moves……so he didn’t really deliver that in the eyes of the public. Prince and Madonna on the other hand just made THEIR music and the media never really puts that much pressure on them to sing as well or dance as well or even entertain as well as they used to. For example, when Mariah flopped with Glitter EVERYONE and their grandmother made a HUGE deal out of it even though “Loverboy” was the best selling single from that album and the soundtrack album was the 5th best that year as well as selling 1+ million in the U.S. and 3 – 3.5 million ww. People didn’t make that much of a fuss when American Life, Just Whitney, Damita Jo, etc all flopped. Too much expectation on some of these artists, that’s why I stan so hard for Mariah even though I love Madonna, Celine, Whitney, etc…..she was SHUNNED by the media after Glitter and then she CAME back harder.

I am saying all this out of love for all these artists.

      • S****** Blonde December 27, 2012

        @ƸӜƷ MC ƸӜƷ
I agree with whole thing and i don’t think Mariah’s Glitter was that bad, i love “Never Too Far Away” but the thing with her is more about her voice, Whitney for her addiction and MJ, well this is a complicated story, Madonna was crucified for all the political message but in the USA, notice that after American Life her success in the USA is has decreased, people saw her as an anti-american, she has never been the same after that in the US and Prince, God knows how much i love this man but he refuse to give us fans more of him, there is no video, promo, rare interviews, only concerts but thats not enough.

      • ƸӜƷ MC ƸӜƷ December 27, 2012

Madonna gets crucified because she’s Madonna. Her whole career is based off of that and its nothing new. For the likes of Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Michael, etc who were always praised, it was difficult for them to be bashed like they were. Madonna is a survivor so I don’t nearly feel as bad for her because I know I can count of her to still be okay after all of it, and Mariah as well to an extent. Prince is a TRUE artist in my opinion for just giving up commercial all together and pissing off b****** to this day. I wish Mariah would give me a jazz/blues album Prince style.

Most people that bash Glitter don’t know what they are talking about, the soundtrack is actually really good. I mean Lead the way, Last night a DJ saved my life, Reflections, etc were all great.

    • Yvonne December 27, 2012

This is judging fro the two biggest fan bases on this site (I proudly dont belong to either lol), but from what I can tell the Navy are the least critical of their fav even though she has a lot to be critical of but always find something to back her faults up with (which is good i guess), the Hive admit a bit more when theyre not feelin’ something Beyonce does and give Rihanna credit more than Navy give Beyonce credit in general. But dont get it twisted, both stan bases have their delusionalists and extremists.

      • S****** Blonde December 27, 2012

        I agree.

      • Jessi December 29, 2012

Your right! I noticed that too. Yea both fan bases are really crazy but Beyonce’s stans kinda have a right to be because she is a killer performer… I can’t say the same thing for Rihanna though smdh.

  90. DTG December 27, 2012

“Rihanna is cliche of everything that has ever been disingenuous about the music business. A soulless Barbie Doll, with plastic doll parts, who was plucked off the streets of no where and put on–simply because the outfit was her size. In other words: commerce…created and puppet mastered by money grubbing music executives as a tool to co-opt what is currently popular for fast cash, and pandered to the dingiest of music listeners who are not discerning enough to care.

You have to give the label, the management, the A&R people, the songwriters, the producers, the directors and the thousand other magicians involved their credit for being savvy enough to outfit this garden-variety debutante with material and promotion to keep her afloat…but let’s be real, there is nothing ‘special’ or ‘unique’ about Rihanna, herself. She has little talent, no personality or strong image, nor does she command the stage. Anyone could have been cast in the role Rihanna plays; she just lucked out. For all intents and purposes, Rihanna is akin to a can of Hormel Chili; basically a canned product with a label (and a ‘sell by’ date) on it.

The bottom line is that Rihanna was not built to last and is very “replaceable.” This is why she does not take breaks, and repetitiously puts out a generic by-the-numbers pop album every year. Being that she has little ‘star power,’ in order to sustain her momentum she has to continually strike while the iron is hot, while employing a multitude of petty ‘stunts’ to get attention (tacky wigs, brothel attire, referencing her tumultuous relationship Chris Brown years later.) The moment she sits down to catch her breath, ten more record label assembled chippies will be thrown into the ring and the last two standing will be the next “Rihanna.”

In 2012, no more do we need windup doll acts like Rihanna getting on camera and posing like an androidian cast-off from America’s Next Top Model, while vapidly bleating over an empty dance track, hanging around longer than the fifteen minutes that is typically allotted for manufactured pop stars such as her. It’s just getting sad now, and the quality is dipping. Gone are the pseudo-interesting songs like “Umbrella,” now she is peddling random, monotonous dead air like “We Found Love.” The girl has run her course; at this point she is on autopilot and is fast becoming the equivalent of a skipping record.”

Doesn’t matter, Rihanna’s name is in the histoRIH books along legends like Mariah Carey, Madonna, Michael Jackson, The Beatles. You can post all the repetitive vile hatred you want but Rihanna is not going anywhere, her name is already engraved in the HistoRIH books.

This will remain as a constant RIHminder that there’s so much power in her name.

Please fume, continue fuming, you’ll be fuming for generations to come but the fact still remains that Rihanna’s name will be quoted along side Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, The Beatles and Madonna for generations to come.

      **Sips Vita Coco**

      • Dee December 27, 2012

She wont be remembered as one of the most talented though. Maybe most overrated. #Whatashame.

      • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

She’ll be remembered for her music and will be quoted along side Mariah Carey, Madonna, Michael Jackson and The Beatles. Whether you call her untalented or not, that is subjective all together but the FACT still remains that she has already engraved her name in the histoRIH books and will be FOREVER remembered whether you like it or not.

      • Dee December 27, 2012

@Teenage Dream Hunny, music programmes already shade Rihanna by not mentioning her along side these legends dispite her achievments because its an insult! Lol, can you imagine years from now when the hardcore Navy fanbase have died out! Its talent, impact and respct that lives on.

      • Touché December 27, 2012

Facts? What facts? I never knew spewing out nonsensical lies were facts. Legends get remembered. Icons don’t Rihanna is just a phenomenal music and fashion icon, that’s it. People have only acknowledged her for her success in digital music sales and staying in the spotlight. Mariah Carey, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, (etc. ) are who are actual legends who will be remembered because of their huge influence, talent, dedication, domination in their genre, creativity, originality (etc.). So please stop making her out to be bigger then she really is.

      • CzarM December 27, 2012

History books, my ass. Please. Her “achievements” are so stacked, arbitrary and fluky that they ultimately become benign. Few will remember or care once she’s past her era. If you think anyone places her alongside the likes of Beatles and Michael Jackson, then you’re an example of just how delusional and basically stupid the average Rihanna fan is. Rihanna’s success is a basically a random Jeopardy question waiting to happen.

        I can see it now…

“Which singer sold the most the most digital singles?” Is it:

        A. Adele
        B. Ciara
        C. Rihanna

        …and most people probably wouldn’t pick C.

When all is said and done, Rihanna will be most remembered for getting her ass kicked by her boyfriend. That’s her claim to fame, that’s her raison d’etre. And from the looks of it, she knows it too…which is probably why every time she needs some publicity, or sits down to do an interview, he’s what she talks about.

      • Miss Neutral December 27, 2012

        What @MC said below.

      • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

Rihanna will be remembered and this is a fact.

Umbrella, 7 weeks at #1, 10 weeks in the UK

We Found Love 10 weeks at #1

Diamonds, Rihanna’s fastest rising single of her career, #1 worldwide since release, has not left the top ten since release, #1 for 10 weeks in Germany since release. #1 for 8 weeks in f****** South Africa since release.

One of the youngest artists to sell out the Stade de France

        3,172,123,706 VEVO views

2nd most #1′s in the world (second to madonna)

2nd most sold singles in the UK (and might bypass her)

and you’re trying to convince me people will forget about Rihanna. Rihanna has had a massive impact on the POP scene and it doesn’t matter how much vile you throw, the pudding is in the FACTS and Rihanna WILL be remembered whether you like it or not.

Whether the navy dies out or not, no one can have such a huge impact and be forgotten, she’ll be remembered and her name will be a constant RIHminder about just how much of a force she is in the music scene. You will just have to deal with it.

      • Loyalty December 27, 2012

Who said Rihanna will be forgotten though?

      • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

The fact of the matter is it’s happening right before your eyes, she is being tied with Madonna (legend), being put in the same sentence with Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson and The Beatles. She is being quoted with legends.

      • Touché December 27, 2012

This “being quoted with legends” is nothing more than comparing accomplishments between music artists. It still doesn’t mean that current successful and popular music artists like Justin Beiber, Christina Aguilar, Beyonce, Rihanna, (etc.) will become legends so please come out of the land of delusional.

      • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

It still doesn’t mean that current successful and popular music artists like Justin Beiber, Christina Aguilar, Beyonce

May not become legends, that is up for debate but one thing that cannot be denied is Rihanna will be a legend. She is one of the youngest acts to sell out the Stade De France. She is tied with Madonna with her 12 #1s and might bypass Madonna’s single sales in the UK.

        Rihanna will be a LEGEND.

      • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

I am a Hive but just because Bey is associated with legends on other things, does not MAKE her on the same level as them. The Navys delusion (especially ones like @Teenage Dream) is so pitiful. You have to literally put the food on the table for them to digest.

        @DAVID, LOYALTY, BEY HIVE, HATERS,,,
If anyone ever questioned Rihanna’s success, these new titles just prove to the world that Rihanna is an artist who can do no wrong with her music. “We Found Love” is produced by Calvin Harris. When the single dropped, the lyrics stood out and the beat got everyone dancing. It wasn’t till we got wind of the video that controversy was stirred.
HATE ALL YO ASSES WANT TO AND KEEP POSTING BEYONCE’S RESUME JUST PROVES TO RIHANNA’S,,,,NAVY THAT NAVY AND RIHANNA IS WINNNNNNNNNNNNNNN! STAY BITTER, BYTCHES,,,,

    • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

Rihanna is not yet a legend, she is being quoted with legends. Her career has just began, she’ll be a legend soon.

The fact of the matter is, it is happening right before your eyes whether you like it or not, Rihanna is being quoted with legends and her achievements have only began.

2 US Vogue, 2 UK Vogue, French Vogue, 3 billion VEVO views, tied with Madonna on US #1s and quoted in the same sentence as Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson and The Beatles. Might bypass Madonna in the UK as the artist who’s sold the most singles, SOLD OUT THE STADE DE FRANCE.

It is happening right before your eyes, you are witnessing H-I-S-T-O-R-I-H and you’ll have to deal with it whether you like it or not. She is being quoted with legends and is on her way to being one.

      • Touché December 27, 2012

        And the delusion continues lol……

      • Loyalty December 27, 2012

But so have Beyonce, Gaga etc all have impressive resumes like this for their different achievments but that you are putting Rihanna on a pedastool like she is on the same level as the legends! Thats the point.

      • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

When has Beyonce sold out the Stade De France??

        I’ll wait.

And again, show me an article that quotes Beyonce in the same sentence as Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Madonna and The Beatles collectively.

Lady Gaga has also made an impact, not Beyonce though.

      • ƸӜƷ MC ƸӜƷ December 27, 2012

RIP. Completely missed my point. So by your logic, since she’s being “quoted with the legends” + her success = she’ll one day become a legend. Well Beyonce is also quoted with legends like Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, etc + she’s successful = someday she’ll become a legend too. Interesting.

P.S. for you future reference, commercial success doesn’t make you a legend, look at Nora Jones, Alanis Morissette, etc all extremely successful at one point but still not legends. People like Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Prince, etc didn’t have much commercial success for the most part but they are massive icons in music and legends. Also being “quoted with legends” doesn’t make you one, Justin Bieber is quoted with Michael Jackson but he’ll never be on his level or a legend.

        A legend is someone who:
        a. has an impact on the music industry and pop culture as a whole a la Madonna’s Erotcia & sexbook era, MJ’s Thriller & Bad eras…..

        b. impacts not only their genre & music a la the Whitney’s The Bodyguard, Beatles, Pink Floyd, etc

        c. breaks down musical barriers a la Madonna, MJ, Whitney, Donna Summers, Prince, etc

        d. leaves a memorable musical legacy a la Thriller, Ray of Light, Bodyguard soundtrack, Come on over (Shania Twain , Daydream, Believe (cher), Emancipation of Mimi, etc

        e. innovation a la Michael, Janet, Madonna, Prince, etc….

        f. impacts other a la Michael = Usher, JT, JB, CB, Beyonce, etc
        Madonna = Britney, Rihanna, etc
Janet = Aaliyah, Ciara, Beyonce, etc
Mariah = Christina Aguilera, JoJo, Leona Lewis, Rihanna, etc

        You were saying?

Rihanna is only 7 years in her career, she has impacted pop culture a lot and has created trends. She has already inspired 3 acts, Paige Thomas, Willow Smith and Kat Graham. Her career has only began, she will be a legend because she is innovative, a risk taker, knows how to reinvent herself and can perform multiple genres with much success.

Whether you like it or not, it is happening.

      • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

We’ve seen Beyonce before, her name is Tina Turner, We’ve seen Lady Gaga (I hate her but have huge respect for her), her name is Madonna.

Though Rihanna draws her influences from Madonna and Mariah, we’ve never seen Rihanna before. Just like only Rihanna can sing a Rihanna song, only Rihanna can do Rihanna. All those who’ve tried to do Rihanna have done so with little success (See Rita Whora, Willow Smith, Kat Graham).

      • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

Wow! Inspiring three mediocre flops is very impressive. Yep, creating trends such as wearing menstrual red hair is very significant. You know I also never knew being completely unoriginal is very innovative. Look sweetie, it’s not ever gonna happen so deal.

      • Touché December 27, 2012

We’ve never seen a Rihanna before? Right because the world has never seen a manufactured generic pop star trying to combine their culture into their music and image before. Gurl please, you’re only right about one thing, no one can sing a Rihanna song because no else wants too sound like a dying goat.

      • Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

” It’s funny how you assumed that as if it’s only the Beyonce stans who dislike the delusional navy and Rihanna.”

So you’ve admitted you HATE Rihanna, that means we can take all that you’ve written about her as biased rubbish much suited for the toilet to be flushed. That means I won’t waste anymore of my valuable time on you.

        Have a good night.

      • Touché December 27, 2012

Wow the delusional navy just gets more hypocritical by the second. Darling, you need to come back down to earth because you like so many other Rihanna stans have made it quite clear that you hate Beyonce therefore you are bias and therefore your comments are just as pointless. Lastly, please learn how to read because I clearly said I dislike Rihanna and the navy. I never said I hated them. I don’t care that much to completely put all my time into dragging you heffas.

        @Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave)

You and I have had much disagreement in the past and for that I assume that you think I dislike Rihanna because of her success or that I’m unhappy with her success? I am actually rather happy that black artists like Beyonce, Rihanna, and Nicki Minaj can be successful in this world, but I am not under the illusion that these people will become legends. You OVERESTIMATE Rihanna. Rihanna has not been innovative or had an impact on anything. This is a fact, you posting commercial success will not change that. Rihanna is a successful person, I agree but she will never be a legend. Having an IMPACT is changing the face of your music, for example, when Mariah debuted with “Vision of Love” and it went to #1 on Hot 100 it was unusual because it was a ballad song that went to #1 unlike the pop atmosphere of that era so more artists adopted to the ballads and her singing technique is very much prevalent to artist like Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, JoJo, and even Tamar Braxton whom you see Mariah has an influence and impact on. Michael Jackson and his videos forever changed the way music videos were shot like mini-movies. Madonna re-invented what it is to be a POP GIRL and she was the first female, business-woman, pop girl to defy the barriers of s**, religion, race, etc to make room for future girls like Katy and Britney. Janet did the same but for BLACK girls like Rihanna, Ciara, Beyonce, etc. Whitney brought that “big-voiced” diva to POP for people like Celine, Mariah, Christina, etc. What has Rihanna done or brought to the table that we haven’t seen already? Britney has does what she’s done and Katy’s doing what she’s doing……

Rihanna hasn’t created any trends. The electro-pop stuff was already done by Justin Timberlake with his second album and by Nelly F., Timberland, etc……..Dubstep was done by Britney, etc….

“She has already inspired 3 acts, Paige Thomas, Willow Smith and Kat Graham.” She hasn’t inspired anyone, their label is trying to copy her success formula with these new girls. I don’t know about the others but Rita has always named Beyonce as her biggest influence and so forth.

“Her career has only began, she will be a legend because she is innovative, a risk taker, knows how to reinvent herself and can perform multiple genres with much success.”

She is not innovative, she hasn’t done anything of that nature. A “risk-taker” that follows the dance music trend? Rihanna is not half the risk taker that Michael, Janet, Madonna, Prince, and even Mariah are. Everything that Prince, Janet, and Madonna did was risk. Michael wasn’t as much of a risk taker but he took a lot of risk with Thriller – Bad and it paid off as well as Cher with Believe. Mariah also took a risk coming from Music Box/Daydream to a full R&B, urban Butterfly. When Rihanna makes music defying the popular genre of the moment, or talks about controversial topics like sexuality, homosexuality, race, politics, religion, etc THEN she can be a risk taker. Gaga is more of a risk taker than Rihanna.

You Rihanna Navy always cling on to the “different genre’s” excuse. Yes she’s done multiple genre’s but not nearly as much as Madonna, Prince, or Michael. They’ve done it all and then some. Her genre range isn’t impressive, even Beyonce has dipped in a couple of genres and don’t bring up the reggae genre excuse, that was her influence like R&B is Beyonce’s.

And when you say she can re-invent herself, I assume you mean her style and hair right? Look at Madonna transition from Music to American Life or Whitney Huston from Whitney – I’m your baby tonight! etc……

Rihanna isn’t as special as you make her out to be. Rihanna for when she first came out was a Beyonce clone (or have you forgotten) and now she’s at Janet/Madonna phase because apparently she’s the “black Madonna”………

Furthermore, this has NOTHING to do with my like and dislike for her but rather the FACT that she won’t be a legend. You seem to forget that Madonna has been here for 3-4+ generation of POP girls and Mariah, Celine, Whitney, etc for 2-3+ generation of pop girls. Lets remember that Rihanna is in the same poll as Katy Perry and her peers and only time will tell if she’s a “legend” as you say. Her prime isn’t even as big as you make it out to be…….you act like she’s selling “Immaculate” or “Thriller” numbers the way the Navi blows her out of proportion.

@David and even at that Rihanna is still in the Game,,,
Rihanna is a mere 23 years-old but quite the accomplished recording artist. Since 2005, Rihanna has released 5 albums and he 6th one is on its way. As Rihanna racks up awards, fans, and the money, she is now going down in history for her musical success.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

Rihanna’s single “We Found Love” was released on September 22nd. The song has peaked at the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 making this Rihanna’s eleventh number one record. Legends Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder only had 10 number ones in their careers taking Rihanna one notch above them! Rihanna finds herself tied with Whitney Houston and one below Madonna and The Supremes.

Rihanna tied with Whitney and one Below Madonna
And all of this before Her Latest Album even Hit…

      • Lax December 28, 2012

RIH’S Name mentioned more then Bey’s name,,,is mentioned with Legends here lately,,

Other artists with plenty of number one records are Michael Jackson, with 12, Elvis Presley who has 17, Mariah Carey has a cool 18, and The Beatles dominate with 20! Rihanna has so many years in her career to come; we can easily see her placing in the top 3 slots if not overtaking The Beatles.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

        Rih’s, name with Legends, Names,,,
The pattern for Rihanna’s success has also lead to award titles. Rihanna’s songs climb charts earning her the honor of racking up 20 top 10’s faster than any solo artist. It has taken Rihanna six years and two months to get here which is 3 months faster than Madonna. She is the fourteenth artist with the title and fifth lady.

  97. Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

  98. Teenage Dream (Beyonce’s Weave) December 27, 2012

Fun fact: “We Found Love” was Rihanna’s most successful song in the US, “Umbrella” in the UK, “Only Girl” in Australia, “Man Down” in France.

Your argument is going to have to be extremely convincing for you to make a case that RIhanna’s music will be forgotten.

Pon De Replay, which was released in 2005 was just certified 2x platinum recently. People are still buying freaking Pon De Replay, released in 2005, people are still buying it.

“Talk That Talk” is at #97 and “LOUD” which is arguably Rihanna’s most iconic album is at #84, and these albums were released in different years. Rihanna has 3 f****** albums on the charts (and 4 on the Urban charts), you’re trying to convince yourselves Rihanna will not be a legend. Right now, you’re witnessing H-I-S-T-O-R-I-H.

I said Rihanna is being quoted with legends, I never said Rihanna is a legend, Rihanna is a legend in the making. Her career has just began, she sold out the Stade De France, how many acts today can say that. She sold out the O2 arena 10 times, 10 freaking times, how many acts today can say that.

Rihanna won the pageant and this breath taking performance sealed the deal. The judges saw the potential in her and awarded her the prize and all these later it came to pass. Thanks for showing us where it all started and how much Rihanna has grown as a singer.

    • Lax December 28, 2012

No matter what people might say about Rihanna her chart records speak for her. I mean after all they act the same kind of fool when Madonna, Britney and some others came along and look at them now. They bytch, bytche, bytch and it’s a good thing Rihanna don’t let it bother her. Rih is great at letting the idol chit chat roll down her back like water off a ducks back.

Rihanna don’t let the words can’t, want, will not ever cross her mind but she does make for sure to use words like I can, I will and I am going to try something new and thus far it has worked well for her. Keep trying to knock her and by all means keep right on with the different titles to tell us how you really feel about Rihanna and her much success. I mean after all look at the hate comments, I mean if Rihanna was this no talent artist like many of you claim then why is there so many commenters saying negative comments about the mega super star?

    • Lax December 28, 2012

From getting hired by Jay he saw the Potential
and that is why she was hired and i know that makes her haters mad. Jay gave Rih a chance just like he did Kayne
and they both work hard. They are not trying to be onbody but themselves and they must be doing something right because they keep right on doing their thing and gettin paid.
All I could add is that if You don’t know rIHANNA BY NOW THEN DO yo research and if shes not your artist then rest assured that you have got many to choose from because you say Rih is talentless but Rihanna is still number three on the best paid under thirty, and if she can’t sing then how did she make the money list and theres so many who’s names can’t be found or seen on the forbes list?

If Rih is getting paid for Entertaining, and being Beautiful “Eye Candy, s***” and hot why be bitter let us see yo asses do better then she is doing. And I know none of you on a message board talking shyt is paid no better then me and others because if you was good like Rihanna is then you want have time to talk shyt like we talk to each other back and forward over Rihanna being so dam great at what she does and from a black point of view rihanna isstill the “HBIC” and the charts, proves that fair and square.

And since Beyonce dance, sing better then Rihanna to many Rihanna still has what it take to make it and has proved that over and over again. Rihanna’s chart positions which was performing really good even when Beyonce had Music out at the same time is proof, that Rihanna is the New “HBIC” and yo asses will deal,,,and until Beyonce tops the charts with Hits she is still Just “Some one We Used To Know” Because Rihanna and all of the New Artist so to say has Flipped the strip and Beyonce is going to have to “Move That Ass'” even harder to try and “Get Her Groove Back” because Right now the Deal is in Rihanna’s hands right now,,,Bytches.

But B** Music’s Natalie Shaw found the album a difficult listen, calling it “the sound of a human dragged headfirst into a breakdown”, and criticising the singer for using “pop music to inadvertently condone abuse”.
The track that Shaw refers to and has everyone talking is Rihanna’s collaboration with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, who was charged with assaulting her three years ago.
In a ’90 s pop-inspired track called Nobody’s Business, the singers further fuel speculation that they have rekindled their romance, singing lyrics such as “your love is perfection” and “you’ll always be mine”.

    • Lax December 28, 2012

Critics have found more evidence of Rihanna drawing on her tumultuous relationship with Brown on Love Without Tragedy/Mother Mary, which follows Nobody’s Business on the album.
In it, Rihanna sings “felt like love struck me in the night”, and makes references to “one drive, injured us fatally”, possibly alluding to the night Brown assaulted her.

      • Lax December 28, 2012

“Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love – for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment is it perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you from misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labours and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

And leave Beyonce out of this. She’s always the haters go to ( why idk since she’s so “irrelevant”) when Rihanna’s called out on her s***. The girl can’t do what she’s supposed to do as a singer…SING! People who dislike her actually have a legitimate reason to.
