While R&B’s market continues to dwindle by the year, it seems Hip Hop continues on to do the opposite- spawning at least two or three cash cows per year.
This year, one of these was Mr. ‘Problem’ himself, A$AP Rocky whose debut album ‘Long Live A$AP’ has pulled a number of stunts and tricks on his competitors this week, both home and away.

Peaking at #7 on the Official Charts, the project hit #1 on the Urban Album chart marking the highest selling Hip Hop release of the year thus far.
On a singles front, the Rapper nabbed not one, not two but three spots on the Urban Top 40 with ‘Goldie‘ rising 54 spots to occupy #38, ‘Problems‘ sitting pretty at #12 and ‘Wild For The Night’ placed one spot above at #11.
On the overall chart, he stands as the only Hip Hop act to enjoy two or more cuts in the Top 50 with the last two cuts sat at #49 and #50 respectively. All this, days before the LP is set to top the Billboard 200- outselling digits moved by Taylor Swift and One Direction in the last week.

i was impressed until i read “Urban album chart” which is a pot-of-piss to go #1. he went #7 on the official chart.
TGJ has a very limited knowledge on hip hop, you praise A$AP, Nicki and Drake. These are all rap artists for teenage girls who dont know what proper rap is.

BLACK MUSIC will forever be pushed to the background as long as BLACK PEOPLE CONTINUE down a path of WEAKNESS & DIVISION! Lack of media ownership means there are no oportunities for BLACK R&B/SOUL and JAZZ to be heard by the masses as is POP, COUNTRY & HIP HOP!
