Despite being on a musical hiatus of sorts, Spears continues to enjoy mammoth success with current single ‘Scream & Shout’ – particularly in the UK. The track, which is a co-headlined release from will.i.am, retained its spot atop of the Official UK Singles Chart this week – extending its stay at #1 to two consecutive weeks.
The impressive feat saw the single fend off major challenges from 50 Cent and Eminem‘s ‘My Life’ (#2), as well as Timberlake’s comeback effort ‘Suit & Tie’ (#3).

While it’s somewhat easy to wallow in the “chart battle”, we see the numbers as “winning” for all. For, despite their collective highs and lows, the trio have each been chart forces for over 10 years. Video clips of the performance went viral on YouTube, other TV networks played it repeatedly, and sales of the song immediately surged. Beyonce’s already-released cover version earned a 1,318% sales gain according to Nielsen SoundScan in the tracking week ending Jan. 25. The tune sold 31,000 downloads that week — up from just 2,000 the week previous. (Her version of “At Last” had been released late in 2008 on the “Cadillac Records” soundtrack. She co-starred in the film as James.)

I cannot express how disappointed I am in Justin and his music at the moment. WTF was that song all about? I mean the song itself, the production, the lyrics, his voice, etc….everything was just disappointing. I was expecting a lot from him so he felt extremely too short in my eyes. I dislike Scream&Shout but I dislike Suit&Tie more. I hope the rest of the album is not like this song AT all.

I agree. I’m not the type that needs a song to “grow ” on me by listening to it multiple times, either I like it or I don’t, only need one listen to know that. (i dont even understand that line of thinking anyway). I just think its a weak single but because people like Justin and have been desiring a comeback, they’re willing to almost convince themselves it’s a better song than it is.

Go Britney, I like her and glad that her and her babysitter oops I mean Jason have broken up. Seems like she’s trying to get her stride back and hope that the 200 million vegas deal go through for her.
