She sooo deserved this!! She is too often dismissed as the chick with the deep voice and she is SO much more than. She’s a singers favorite singer! We (no I’m not famous but I do sing for a living) understand the different textures and colors she has to her voice and how she uses it effortlessly. So many singers, even the big powerhouse belters, tend to hav just one tone and have great voices with no character .. Brandy is a beast vocally and I saw someone above say she’s overrated!? I think Brandy is a fantastic vocalist and is easily among the best female vocalists of THIS generation. However, I think this competition was a bit skewed in her favor by calling it “This Generation’s Vocal Bible” which is a title she already possesses. I think it would’ve been a bit more unbiased if TGJ called it “Best Female Vocalist of This Generation.” Just a thought…Anyways congrats to Brandy!

Christina’s voice has the potential to be pretty incredible (tonally, etc.) She overdoes it though, and screams instead of sings her songs, which is really irritating. Brandy’s voice is smooth and she never overdoes it. I’d definitely prefer Brandy’s voice over Christina’s any day.

The thing is “BRANDY CAN’T SING LIVE!!!!! Great in the studio but lip syncs or is very weak live. Bey maintains live, maybe even better because of the emotions. Brandy is no where near Bey. Brandy does brilliant things in the studio or the bathroom and there’s no trickery it’s all skills but she has a very limited range, like a monotone where Bey is a monster who uses her voice like an instrument. Jennifer Hudson always sounds like a screaming mess to me. Doesn’t mean she cant sing but she can be too much. you people are stuck on thinking its about belting and range. Some of you all still don’t get it. Vocal Bible is NOT the same as “The Voice Of a Generation”. Whitney Houston was the only one who I know with that title. Aretha Franklin Is the Queen of Soul. Donna Summer was the Disco Queen. Gladys Knight is the Empress of Soul. I can go on and on…
Artists that have reached her level and beyond have titles that people affectionately give them to reflect their talent. Brandy’s title is very fitting as she knows how to use her voice very well. That doesn’t mean that it takes away from any one else’s talents. I find it funny how anyone could even have the audacity to believe that Brandy is an overrated vocalist when she’s often overlooked and not even a dominating force in pop music like she once was.
However, with the progression of her musical and vocal prowess, she has carved out a nice lane for herself.

Brandy is truly the truth. Granted I don’t know much about singing, I just know how she makes me feel when i listen to her. I can rewatch her over and over because I think she is that good. Funny enough most people writing comments couldnt even attempt one of her rifts and sound half as good as she does. Let alone do them at all. Just sit at home right now, click on the video above and attempt the easier ones, let alone the more difficult ones. The girl is a beast and is given props by the likes of Jazmine Sullivan who I also love. Would be great to hear them do a duet.
