The centre of ever controversial ‘social networking‘ content, the model’s endorsement of the drug has now landed her in hot water, after members of her own fan base called her out on it.

However, her attempts to reinforce her ‘bad girl’ marketing ploy took a turn for the worst when she came under fire for the message, as seen below:
It’s unfortunate that in an industry which has lost so many to drugs, Rihanna sees nothing wrong with her alleged personal habit and the implications her ‘openness’ of it has on those who consider her a role model.
Sure, while it isn’t her job to raise anybody’s kid, we find it sad that the industry doesn’t do enough to drive home the negative effects of addiction- and that Rihanna’s fans and team alike seem to have turned a blind eye to what all can see is a serious problem. Let’s just hope it doesn’t go any further than it already has.

Cannabis is less dangerous (much less) than alcohol, my only slight concern is with the fact she smokes it, the shit is full of tar, as someone who has been using cannabis for 25 years I feel much better for using it in coffee or cooking with it – its all upside and no nasty smoking-related risks (I smoked it when I was young). She also needs to remember she is a singer (no jokes please) and in the medium term her voice will be affected if she keeps on smoking either dope or cigarettes.

i smoke, i drink some beer to chill (no hard stuff) and did weed and hash years ago. nicotine is more addictive and trouble – causes cancer. alcohol kills the liver and is most of all a lil depressing drug the next day. hash is a mean stoner and mad psychotic. i had couple bad trips. weed is by far the safest, healthiest and most appealing and enjoyable drug if you smoke it in a correct blunt or a joint. i smoked pots outta lotta different sized bongs and other utilities. tha’s barely controllable. got knocked out a couple times. but i’ll never forget the first joint. so what if she does smoke weed. i can’t really say this is wrong she doing. just hope she doesn’t overdo and stay cool, not bad.

The singer’s wild streak has led to frequent comparisons to tragic diva Whitney Houston.
Rihanna’s father reveals she had a childhood obsession with the troubled US star — who drowned in the bath while high on cocaine in February.
This week Rihanna was accused of promoting drug use after posting a picture on photo-sharing website Instagram showing her sitting on her bodyguard’s shoulders and “cutting up” what looks like a white powder on his head.
The snap, taken at the Coachella music festival in California, provoked a barrage of criticism.
One worried fan wrote on Twitter: “I love her music, not her lifestyle. Hope she gets this under control before we have her funeral on TV like Whitney Houston.”
The response from Rihanna, 24, was typically unapologetic. Writing on the social networking site, she said: “I’m crazy and I don’t pretend to be anything else.”
Few would deny the similarities to troubled Whitney.
Both stars grew up in devout Christian communities — Whitney in New Jersey, Rihanna in Barbados — and cut their musical teeth singing in their local church. Both had violent relationships with hip-hop bad boys.
Whitney was married to R&B singer and rapper Bobby Brown, 43, for 15 years, and their turbulent relationship has been blamed for her descent into drug addiction.
Rihanna was beaten up by then boyfriend Chris Brown, 22, in 2009. Despite the attack, she recently got back together with her violent ex.
Both Rihanna and Whitney’s sexuality have been questioned too, with rumours of lesbianism. Whitney was linked with her former assistant, Robyn Crawford.
And like Whitney, who was 48 when she died, fears have grown over Rihanna’s suspected drug use.
Earlier this year she was snapped puffing on a suspicious-looking cigarette during a holiday in Hawaii.
She has also made comments that appear to refer to cannabis on her Twitter page. Rihanna is making the transition from pop queen to movie star — again, just like Whitney. Rihanna’s big-screen debut is in new movie Battleship, while Whitney appeared in a string of films, the most famous of which was 1992 hit The Bodyguard.
With the similarities stacking up, it is unsurprising that Rihanna — full name Robyn Rihanna Fenty — is being touted to portray Whitney on the big screen.
Rihanna has admitted she would love to take on the part, saying: “If I was going to do a biopic, it would have to be someone I admire and she is definitely one of those.
“That would be something I would have to give my entire life to do because I would want to really pull it off.”
Whitney’s friend, singer Malik Pointer, the son of Ruth from Seventies group The Pointer Sisters, said: “Rihanna is basically Whitney 2.0. That kind of talent only comes around every 20 years or so.
“They sing like angels and they have faces of angels — so even without the talent they would have people eating out of their hands.
“We’re talking about two of the greatest talents in the history of female vocalists. Add to that addiction, or at least a love of partying, and it’s a recipe for disaster.
“Rihanna is a wild child. She has the voice of an angel but she can get down and dirty. But she has youth on her side. There’s a chance she’s just getting it out of her system and she’ll find the right guy and settle down by the time she’s 30.”
Pianist Wayne Linsey, 50, another of Whitney’s friends, said: “Everybody who chooses to mess with substances is taking risks. I would say to Rihanna that the cleaner life you can live, the better chance you have of living it.
“I couldn’t imagine Whitney wouldn’t be here right now. I never saw it coming and that was the most shocking thing. You don’t have to live a squeaky clean life — just a life of moderation.”
Rihanna’s dad Ronald Fenty, 58, would love to see his daughter playing her heroine in a movie.
He said: “She used to love Whitney. Robyn would always sing along to I Will Always Love You.
“She admired Whitney because of her range, her voice, her appearance, her personality — everything. She loved Whitney so much she would be honoured to play her. I think she would accept in a heartbeat.”
But Ronald, a former crack addict, added he hopes his daughter does not emulate her heroine too closely.
He said: “I hope she will be smart enough not to go down that path. I think she is smart enough not to.”
Rihanna’s former pastor, Vibert Lowe, 64, added: “After Robyn became a star, her life has taken a different turn. I pray for her a lot.
“I was very sorry about what happened to Whitney and I really hope it does not happen to her.”
The Umbrella singer’s former neighbour Trevor Pretty, 31, defended his old pal against the rumours of cocaine use — insisting cannabis is her drug of choice.
He said: “Robyn’s idols are people who are unapologetic and strong. She lives life by her own terms, and that’s how she is supposed to live it.
“She’s just having fun. She is from the islands and you expect her not to like weed? Of course she likes weed. People are going to attach Robyn to Whitney. The fact is Robyn is kind of hardcore. She is going to get even more epic as time goes by. I think she can handle it.”
Rihanna was included in a list of the world’s 100 most influential people in Time magazine.
But like Whitney before her, she wants to be judged as a performer rather than a role model.
She said: “People, especially white people, they want me to be a role model just because of the life I lead.
“The things I say in my songs, they expect it of me, and being a role model became more of my job than I want it to be. But no, I just want to make music. That’s it.”
But with her face recognised across the globe, Rihanna won’t be escaping the spotlight any time soon.

You don’t have to grow up in poverty to be a drug user and Rihanna grow up in the Caribbean. Weed is very popular in the Caribbean, i’m pretty sure she grew up around weed smokers.
