Behind The Scenes: Tamar Braxton’s ‘Love & War’ Video

Published: Friday 4th Jan 2013 by Sam

Video time!

After rocketing to the top of iTunes with new single ‘Love & War’ last month, Tamar Braxton is wasting no time readying its accompanying visual.

The vocal powerhouse got glammed-up in Los Angeles this week to shoot the clip for the LaShawn Daniels penned track.

Our friends over at The YBF were on hand on set. Peep details on the video treatment, as well as their behind the scenes footage after the jump…

On the clip’s concept, Braxton said:

“The concept is about being vulnerable and being sexy. Pretty much about being in a relationship that you are trying to figure out.  I’m wearing a very simple, very expensive sweatshirt. I’m chilling at the house, then me and my husband get in an argument. It’s very narrative. We simply play out the lyrics of the song.

There’s a guy that’s in the video but you never see his face. And I did that because the song means so much to so many people that I wanted everybody to picture their man or their mate so they can really feel what the song is about.”

Yesss good girl. Relating video to song is the best way forward for the song.

  3. Monstarebel January 4, 2013

Awwwww yay can’t wait she looks beautiful

I just hope the next single is a uptemo dance song her personality is to big to be singing r&b ballads I need that fierce attitude she has on the show to somewhat translate to her music cause so far she’s starting this era off pretty boring…

  4. Cream January 4, 2013

And they don’t know why R&B is dead next

  5. Sierra January 4, 2013

She looks great in that pic I can’t wait to here some more music from her 🙂

  6. Fierce P**** January 4, 2013

I do hope that song isn’t speeded up like that in the real video. Im glad there’s a video to
This too. I love this song.

    • roo January 4, 2013

It’s only sped up to be slowed down in editing for the movement. She has to move her body and lips fast, so hair flips, eye blinks, and body movements can come out smooth and soft for the sensual or glamorous effect.

    • Yo Mammy January 4, 2013

they sped it up so they can slow the footage down when editing and have her moving in slow motion like mariah carey does all the time in videos

    • pat January 4, 2013

the song is sped up to create the slow motion effect..it’ll be normal in the video….ever wonder how in a music video an artist is moving in slow motion but their mouth is still singing the song normal speed……that’s not possible…..so they record u singing it fast so when its slowed down the body movements are slow but the mouth is normal pace of the song

      • PSA (FAF) January 4, 2013

DEATH ! I remember back when making the video was on MTV, mariah used to KILL that effect ! That’s what she’s known for in her vids. *finger wags*

  7. King B>Rihanna January 4, 2013

  9. Monstarebel January 4, 2013

Ooooooo gworl I just read about Jay z allegedly having an affair with Rita ora lol so I just wanna know how the b***** feels about this??? this could explain why Jay-Z is waisting so much money on this flop

    • King B>Rihanna January 4, 2013

it was alleged to have an affair with Rihanna to so what you just tried was a major flop .

      • Monstarebel January 4, 2013

I don’t recall Rihanna getting put on blast by some b**** on Twitter honey….don’t be mad at me that your favs husband doesn’t want her old saggy ass anymore and wants something a lil younger kiii…

      • King B>Rihanna January 4, 2013

very funny Rihanna got put on blast on every living blog b**** don’t try to act like it you did not see the headlines b**** check TMZ which beats Twitter by far and if your read the tweet it was clear the girl was trying to be messy without any fact as she said someone paid her to say that.Get ya Life and Ya Facts.

  10. Fierce P**** January 4, 2013

R&b isn’t dead cuz of this song. It was in the top ten of US iTunes. Talk about an accomplishment for a “dying genre”. And this woman has never even seen a hit in her life before that. Please. Stop discrediting r&b just cuz u like that lame psy Gangnam type s***.

  11. Savannah January 4, 2013

I’m looking forward to hearing her album. The snippets on her show were hot. Her next single is an uptempo. It was supposed to be her first, but she dedicated L&W to Vince since he had been sick. 🙂

  12. King B>Rihanna January 4, 2013

Tamar did not save R&B……….Yes it was nice to hear a b**** actually sing in today’s music world but when it becomes a number one hit on Billboard and she gets a number one album………………and when many R&B acts can follow that pattern then R&B is alive………………Thank You.
(No reply from The Tamartians it shall be paid dust)

    • LETOYA LUCKETT January 4, 2013

Oh…soo what was your point? Nobody said she saved R&B.

    • All hail Ariyah, Queen of the Grandenites!!! January 4, 2013

wow did you really have to call her a b****? B****** these days have no respect

    • tamartian January 4, 2013

B**** boo go sit down. Matter of fact have several sets before your tired ass come for tamar. Atleast, she isn’t known for f****** several of the spurs players with beyonce loose p**** ass.

      • You Wanna Bey Me January 4, 2013

Who said anything about beyonce? Lmao! The queen stays on u h*** mind, and you HATE IT!!!! Lol, the struggle

  13. Savannah January 4, 2013

Tamar doesn’t want to be an R&B star! She said it herself! She tried the R&B route 13 years ago and it didn’t work lol. She wants to do pop (even though her stuff sounds like pop-tinged R&B a la beyonce).

    • mob January 4, 2013

In today’s anti-R&B state, I can’t say that I blame her! I think what she means is that she wants the freedom to crossover like a Rihanna and Beyonce and not be hindered. Frank Ocean made the same claim a year ago!

  14. Spunkypoop January 4, 2013

I think I love this song so much cause I can relate to it. #LoveandWar is a HIT! and I know the video will be fire. Get it Tamar.

  15. Lax January 4, 2013

Sounds good to me there’s nothing as refreshing as a good dam fight
in the Blogosphere on the Grape Juice.

  16. IDK January 4, 2013

    cool!!!!! cant wait!

  17. mob January 4, 2013

I like the above pic! I can’t wait to see the video but she needs to move on it quickly. Ppl will begin to loose interest. You know folks have the attention spans of flees these days! LOL 🙂

  18. CS9 January 4, 2013

Tamar has too much talent for dance/pop. That genre is for can’t-sing puppets who’re the products of their producers and labels. No dance-pop star has vocal chops. They all sound horrible when the mic is on, which is why they need autotune and pitch correction in the studio…and lip sync for dear life on stage. Pop, especially dance/pop, is beneath anyone who can sing scales. It’s a genre for no-talent Becky’s who’re spotted while sitting at the food court in a shopping mall on a Saturday afternoon by a sleazy producer looking for a “face” to sell his gay ass thumpa-thumpa song. Pop=NoTalent. Tamar is better than that. She’s a Braxton. They come from church and can blow the roof off the joint with their vocals. She needs songs that can show THAT off.

  19. chyna white January 4, 2013

I Tried so hard, but they said NOOOO
look on the CHARTS, it’s not there No Mo.
When the SMOOOOOOKE cleared, it disappeared………RIGHT OFF OF THE BILLBOARD!

  21. MeccaMaddness January 4, 2013

Anybody waiting for some silly and overblown dance/pop number from Tamar might be waiting for a long time because snippets from her album have already been previewed, and most of it is **very R&B**. There are some uptempo, dancier tracks, but even those are R&B. There is no refried, throwaway Kesha/Britney/Gaga/Katy/”Call Me Maybe” type s*** on Tamar’s album! And I for am glad. If you wanna hear that B.S., look to the buffoons making it.
