With her stint on The Voice wrapped for now, Christina Aguilera took front stage centre at the People’s Choice Awards 2013 tonight to showcase her own voice.
Still in promo-mode for her latest album ‘Lotus’, the singer performed ‘Blank Page‘ from the LP at the star-studded event, which took place live from Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater.

A little shaky at the beginning, Aguilera certainly got it together by the song’s dramatic second verse. Nailing the song’s raw emotion, it’s safe to say that Christina may be well on her way to rectifying the promo mess that was ‘Lotus’.
Interesting that Aguilera chooses to sing a different song from the album at every major event. This technique, while presumed the singer’s attempt to throw many ideas against the wall and see which one “sticks”, could potentially confuse consumers. Be that as it may, we look forward to more performances like this from ‘Lotus’ and a video for ‘Just A Fool’ with Blake Shelton.

Wow i dont know what to say really. It wasnt bad but it wasnt really the Christina I’m used to. I didnt even recognize her voice the first 10 sec. And to be honest the song is pretty boring. I remember when she did “hurt” on the mtv vid awards back in the day. She usually slays songs like this but this time it just didnt work for me.

Are you kidding me? People who appreciate raw talent understand that there is a difference between being LOUD and being a vocal master.
After all these years, Christina has yet to learn how to use her voice correctly which is why the quality in her voice continues to worsen.
Brandy on the other hand is a vocal goddess. She may not be as loud as Christina but when it comes to technique, mastering her vocal highs and lows, runs and conveying emotion, Brandy is superior to Christina in every category.

I liked her performance. Good song and she did not go all over this time around. She sounded sick but still managed to pull it off. After she feels good again, she should perform Your Body. She did great,clearly this is a very personal and emtional song for her as its about her ex husband,singing is being able to connect a lyric to a melody,not displaying vocal technique,I have nothing against vocal training but give me a voice that connects to a song lyrically ,she does that,so all the so called music professionals can take a back seat cuz I know none of u can get up there and sell that song ,nice job chrissy:-)

Christina was always the high profile artist on RCA but now she has to compete for attention with all of the high profile artists the label is still promoting at the same time as her.
I don’t think she was prepared to have to work so hard to get promo from her label this time.

following britney’s meltdown her album ‘blackout’ demonstrated a drastic decline in her fan base. right away the media, her record label and the rest of the music industry ramped up to save her with awards (that she didn’t even get when she was at her best) and all other forms of hype, hula and exaggerated accomplishments that hasn’t stopped.
if the media had continued to slam britney for 2007 vma performance and her true lack of talent, her career would be as nearly bad off as christina’s.

i recorded the award show and just watched christina’s performance again. she did sound like she was quite choked up at first. she sounded wonderful when she got it together.
i got choked up myself listening to her speech. she seemed obvious she was in a lot of pain while she was encouraging those who are victims of hate and bullying to stand strong. she should take on bullying as one of her humanitarian causes since she has always been a victim of it herself.
you could tell she really really appreciated the award from her heart.

Im honestly not surprised she sounds like this. I dont think that she has sang a song that vulnerable in awhile. So kudos to her for making it through. Sounds like a tough song to sing. Just glad to see her back on the stage where she belongs. ‘Stripped’ will always be her best album to me.

I think she was sick or something… but it actually helped her to make the performance more emotive and not to scream all over the place. I think she did better than most of the times in recent performances thanks to all that. So kudos I guess. Her speech was good.
And the hate towards Xtina Aguilera is certainly out of control. I don´t understand it. Just leave her alone. Especially from some talentless models fans? Give me a break. At least Xtina tries to do interesting things in her albums, even if she fails at times

She was great. Towards they end you could tell she was struggling with some of the words in the chorus, but obviously dealt with it well as people aren’t picking up on it.
It’s the biggest shame of last year that Lotus underperformed, it’s such a great album. I think it seemed like when Christina dropped Your Body she was onto such a sure fire hit they all thought they could relax the promotion. Obviously in today’s day and age that’s not possible (unless you’re Britney, who I’m sure will debut at number 1 with her album last year after performing the lead single once in public.)

Better than most of her recent performances if you ignore how bad she sounded when she was singing quietly. She went off on the odd screech here and there but definitely an improvement. So is the toned down makeup and conservative clothes, her hair did look a greasy mess though. Not keen on the song but I like very few ballads so its nothing personal. I don’t know what is going on with this woman, she has a fantastic voice but doesn’t appear to want to put the work in to use it properly and most of the time she looks a hot mess. Lotus has flopped partly because she hasn’t promoted it, she STILL hasn’t sang Your Body live and I’d like to hear her sing it at least once, admittedly its too late for the single now. She seems to have gone from one extreme with Bionic to another with Lotus and neither of them have grabbed the pop buying public’s imagination. She needs to get back to the drawing board and not leave it so long this time before she puts out a new album, if you go more than two years without an album in the current climate then you are forgotten basically.

I like it & I FELT IT… this song is definitely about Jordan Bratman. She sounded so sick (I almost expected she will snort the flu at the first verse). But yeah as the song goes, she did better & better. not did too many acrobatics vocal which is necessary.

All4u: well brandy may not have the range xtina has but all that pushing and forcing of her voice xtina does, one could actually question her range and voice ability. Brandy has control of her voice and never in my life have I seen brandy struggle this much with her live performances and brandy does some difficult runs but at least has proper breath support. So IMO, that’s y brandy could be the better singer. Whats the use of all that screaming and straining and squeezing when u damage ur vocal chords? Beats me…

I enjoyed this performance and loved the raw emotion that Aguilera brought to the stage even if it started out a little shaky. Hopefully this will help the promotion of her new album. This performance and award show gave me and my DISH coworker a lot to talk about at work today so I’m glad I caught it. I wasn’t home but was able to record on my DISH Hopper with the PrimeTime Anytime feature. I didn’t have to worry about missing this show or forgetting to set up an individual timer.

much of this evenings celeb show ‘entertainment tonight’ was dedicated to winners of ‘the people’s choice awards’. not once did they show christina or even mention her name although she received a ‘special award’. christina’s treated as irrelevant by a show wastes much of their air time with the likes of jessica simpson.
