Watch: Michelle Williams Rocks ‘Bobby Jones Gospel’ (Performance)

Published: Tuesday 1st Jan 2013 by Sam

With Michelle Williams‘ third Inspirational album due this year, the Destiny’s Child graduate took front-stage centre on BET’s Bobby Jones Gospel last night.

Backed the hit show’s house band, the vocal powerhouse soared with a flavour-filled performance of ‘Praise Him’.

Get your praise on with Ms. Williams after the jump…

Yes, yes, and yes!

It’s oh so clear that this is Michelle’s “lane” and oh is she working it. Needless to say, we can’t wait for that album. Great performance.

  7. SayWhaaatt!!!!! January 1, 2013

Good performance finally Michelle gets her shine. Her drive or lack of is better for gospel than pop. Also the public forget she was on Broadway and you have to hold your own vocally.

so michelle been poppin’ her c******? she just said she was a heathen….michelle seem the least bit sexual natured.

    • ashgino January 1, 2013

They did Michelle wrong in Destiny Child always having her singing back up
and never lead a song. Beyonce and Kelly did most of the lead parts \in the
songs they that sung. I think she can sing both types of music gospel
and secular. But like someone gospel is her lane.

I personally never liked her voice. I think it’s the tone. Beyonce and Kelly’s tone sounded nicer. Maybe that’s why they sung more.

She was never my fave in DC but that weave is looking right. Just wanted to say that. She was the DC extra cuz she had the look for it. On the otherhand, didn’t look at the performance cuz I just don’t care….

  12. Yolanda January 1, 2013

    She’s anorexic.

  13. Johnny January 1, 2013

  15. Jay January 1, 2013

Michelle has a nice voice but I was never really into her. She should stick to gospel definitely.

  16. nick January 2, 2013

i have all of Michelles albums, gospel & pop & all are good, shes under rated., love her, like this mix they did too: i dont know what u come to do

  17. thetruth January 2, 2013

I personally think that she should stick with contemporary/inspirational gospel music like she did with her 1st solo gospel album. Those songs Do You Know and The Greatest was perfect for her and beyond amazing. If her album is anything like her 1st album I would definitely buy. Gospel is definitely her lane but I think she should not go too far with the churchy type gospel like this perfomance. She is still very young and has a young base so she needs to sound young but not too young but also appeal to that older audience. Also, in the future DC may get back together and do a album or project so she don’t want to be too churchy and overly religious! Keep it simple Michelle and go the Mary Mary route keep doing your thing! Great performance!

This is just a cover of a Deitrick Haddon song. Her whole album won’t have this sound.

She’s been recording with Harmony Samuels who produced Keyshia Cole’s “Enough of No Love”.

It will be contemporary. Plus on her first album, Heart to Yours she mixed both contemporary and the traditional with “Steal Away to Jesus” with legendary Shirley Caesar

Michelle has been recording with Harmony Samuels who produced Keyshia Cole’s “Enough of No Love”.

This performance was recorded months ago and is a cover of a Deitrick Haddon song.

It’s unlikely to be on her album – which will snatch sunday hats worldwide

I watched the video. She is comfortable singing gospel. Her performance was better than previous but those vocals….it is obvious she does not spend time practicing her vocals. once she takes that seriously and stick to one thing others may take her seriously.
