Another Album Please: Destiny’s Child Perform ‘Bootylicious’ Backstage At ‘Super Bowl’

Published: Sunday 10th Feb 2013 by Sam

It’s been a week since Destiny’s Child‘s epic reunion at the Super Bowl Half-Time extravaganza, yet the masses are still buzzing about the trio’s showing. And understandably so.

It’s been nine years since Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams released their last studio album ‘Destiny Fulfilled’, however it’s clear they still have “it” in abundance. Last Sunday’s performance relayed this in earnest, but new backstage footage following their showing re-affirms it.

Watch the group in action after the jump…

In an era of auto-tune and models-with-mics, it’ warming to see three incredible talents still able to show and prove after more than 15 years in the game.

Many may attribute the lack of success girl-group’s have had since DC3 “disbanded” to the music working in cycles and groups not being “in” at present. And this could be true, to a degree. However, there quite simply hasn’t been a group as stellar as DC since their hiatus. A fact which, for us, sees them still serve as the definitive blueprint of what a girl-group should be in this generation.

Naturally, then, this calls for a new album, right? Of course not in the immediate due to the respective solo projects arriving this year; however 2014 sounds like smart business.

After all, it’d have been ten years since their last studio album and the ladies would all still be in their performer prime. What’s more, such a reunion would give each a chance to refresh their brand, while reminding the new generation of their collective “bad chickery”.

An album, a tour, or a series of concert specials…at this point, we’d take anything. We been teased with an appetizer, now serve us the main course. Please and thanks.

  8. Adrian February 10, 2013

Yes! I love Destiny’s Child. Does nobody know how to sing and harmonize anymore? I mean can I can get a John Legend and Robin Thicke collaboration or something? People seem to have forgotten how to excite the music buyer’s about the material/performances!!

  9. HOWYOULIKEIT February 10, 2013

The girls are busy with their solo projects. Forget about it sam

  10. HIVE February 10, 2013

I LOVE ALL 3 OF THE GIRLS… I THINK NEXT YEAR A “PROPER” REUNION WOULD BE GREAT.

TIME FOR THEM TO GET A SLEW OF #1 HITS UNDER THEIR BELT AROUND THAT TIME! LOL

I’m not really here for Michelle looking confused, Kelly doing little and Beyonce screaming in a reunion.

Kelly peaked and troughed badly. Michelle’s gone nowhere on the charts and Beyonce is struggling to swim in the Rihanna, Adele, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift tide. Any reunion would just seem like a desperate attempt at relevancy. Even their last album wasn’t good. After Writings Wall their quality undoubtedly declined.

No, another DC album would not be a good idea. It would not sell well as R&B is not the popular genre like it was in the 90’s. Then you’ll have haters causing riots calling it a flop. Let the past be the past and enjoy what you already have..

I disagree , it was Beyonce and her back-up girls to most of ppl , no adequate chances for kelly and michelle and the spotlight is only beyonce’s.
