Fantasia Pushes Back New Album

Published: Tuesday 19th Feb 2013 by Sam

It may be a New Year, but the same issues are plaguing some of our most anticipated releases.

Unfortunately, the dreaded “push back” has struck again with singer Fantasia its latest victim.

Originally slated for release next month, the star’s fourth studio album ‘The Side Effects Of You’ has been held back until an undetermined date. And while many anticipated this in the absence of a radio or video release for its lead single ‘Lose To Win’, the American Idol alum has explained why the move to delay the “rock soul” sounding set was a must.

Her words after the jump…

Writing on Facebook moments ago, the 28 year old announced…

In many ways, we applaud Ms. Barrino’s decision — although we’re sure it was just as much the record label’s as it was hers.

For, following her unintentional, yet damaging comments back in December, she clearly was in need of image rehabilitation; something only time and space would be able to repair.

What’s more, as unique as ‘Lose To Win’ is, there’s much to be said about the fact that we didn’t give it much (if any) play beyond the week it premiered. Jury’s still out on whether this is due to it being rush-released during the Holiday season or if it just isn’t that good. What is certain, though, is that the track doesn’t demand a listen nor does it have a sense of urgency to play — which is dangerous given that there is no longer the reality show platform to push her material.

Our advice to Ms. Barrino would be to ignore the negativity, ditch the “woe is me” malarkey, and just focus on churning out a solid album. R&B may not be where it once was commercially, yet her talent remains ever-on-point. It’s time she remind the world why  took to her in the first place.

For now though, take a listen to ‘Lose To Win’ below…

    Poor that…

Nobody’s been checking for Fantasia since 2006 and “When I See U” came out. Her drama killed what was left of her career and people became more focused on it. She cared more about a married man instead of her huge talent. Now she’s paying for it.

Love the song just heard it on the radio yesterday

  4. IKNOWTHETRUTH February 19, 2013

PEOPLE BECAME MORE FOCUSED ON HER DRAMA THAN HER CAREER. IT’S SAD BECAUSE SHE’S SO TALENTED. SHE STARTED TO FOCUS MORE ON A MARRIED MAN AND LESS ON HER CAREER AS DID WE ALL. NOW SHE’S PAYING FOR IT. PEOPLE HAVEN’T BEEN INTERESTED IN HER SINCE 2006 AND “WHEN I SEE U”.

The album was supposed to be released March 19, but then RCA decided to release Justin Timberlake on the same day. So she had to make a choice, receive no promo and come out out the same time as JT or push back and receive the RCA basic R&B promotional package.

“Lose To Win” is on heavy rotation in my area. With all these “Bands will make her dance” songs that kids are running to, I believe that Fantasia will have to come harder with her song choices.

GOOD! Maybe next time she tweets the name of her song, she spells it correctly. Yes, I love Fantasia but I will NOT excuse her for misspelling a three-letter word that is the name of her song. When is not Win.

this Is what you get for Speakin’ Your mind.

Apparently people are checking for Fantasia. She had a top R&B hit “Bittersweet” and top album “Back To Me” in 2010, and won a Grammy for it in 2011. Fantasia has not been promoting nor has the video dropped. There isn’t much buzz because she handling of this project is sloppy so far! F*** her personal life she actually has TALENT!!! She may not pull huge numbers like Rihanna, Katy, Gaga and them but one thing about Fantasia is that shes CONSISTENT and she is here to stay!

A shame too because i really like the song but i KNEW it wouldn’t get air play and the album would be pushed back

You know I’ve never expected shade to be thrown at Fantasia from this site. I am shocked to say the least. And for y’all to say aint nobody checking for Fantasia since 06 you mustve been born in 2012 because she definitely won a Grammy for an album released in 2010 at the 2011 Grammy Awards. So Im confused. ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantasia’s decision was soley based on the fact that Justin Timberlake took her day and they decided to reedit some shots for the video for her single WHICH PEOPLE ACTUALLY LOVE because it been going UP the charts and NOT SLIDING DOWN the charts like some of our less talented divas singles. I always thought it was an industry conspiracy to shade Ms. Barrion (hince how she’s missing amongst her AMERICAN IDOL ALUM on the OPENING CREDITS of the show) She’s made mistakes, so. She fell in love with guy who clearly lied to her about being married(if you watched her reality show you would know this) and again… SO!!!!!
Fantasia is the ALL AMERICAN GIRL without the faux background and great PR to clean up her humanity. Fantasia’s accomplishments go unnoticed and that also erks my soul. Y’all talk about how she didnt have a H.S. Diploma, She got one no one congratulated her. Y’all talk about her teeth, she got them fixed. The faux law suit from her ‘married man’ ‘s ‘wife’ was thrown out of court because they had been legally seperated for quite some time before she met the man, and we indeed not together at the time that her relationship with the man started. Wasn’t like she stole the man from his family, he had already walked away. But again no one talks about the good stuff that comes out about her they just focus on the bad. But what is BAD (IN A GOOD WAY) is her voice. She’s one the most illest singers this world has seen. Her live show is something to be wreckened with, it needs a little polishing for the white folk and the booshie (sp) but all in all she’s a star who the world seems to want to pull from the heavens.

I LOVE Fantasia and will fight for her tooth and nail but I WILL NOT let her think it is acceptable to SPELL THE NAME OF HER SONG INCORRECTLY; especially when it is a three-letter word. NO!!!!!

If she doesn’t feel like continuing her education past the rushed GED program, then she could at least have her tweets proofed before she hits the Tweet button.

Chris Rock, MJB and Drake have their GEDs and you don’t see them misspelling simple words. Fantasia is academically lazy and don’t want to do the work. Fine, but she should have her tweets proofed.

If Fantasia wants my money, then she has to spell the name of her songs correctly. Otherwise, I’m downloading them for free because that’s what she deserves. If she doesn’t want to respect her audience, I won’t respect her sales.

I got turned off by Lose to When. It was obviously not a typo. She meant that s***. I will not give Fantasia a pass. NO!!!!!

  18. MusicLover February 19, 2013

I was expecting this seeing as how the song hasn’t really impacted mainstream r&B stations yet. I still don’t feel this is the best song to lauch her return, never the less i remain emotionally invested in this dynamic artist. Her talent demands more respect, acclaim and commerical success.

  19. Rihqeen February 19, 2013

Hate this bych she such a damn flop and shes desperate for attention that why she tried to kill herself …mhm smh

  20. brotha1461 February 19, 2013

It’s sad when people use sites like this to try and call someone out ,the way one speaks about others they don’t know ,speaks more about them than the individuals they are trying to hurt. All the hate that is thrown at Fantasia just shows that no matter what is said she is still standing and she is still here!!!!!

  21. ras February 20, 2013

yall get your facts right before you speak the reason the song is not doing good yet is cause the label has not release it o mainstream radio yet
