Jennifer Hudson To Perform at 2013 Academy Awards, Readies New Album

Published: Wednesday 20th Feb 2013 by Rashad

‘Think Like A Man’ maestra Jennifer Hudson clearly likes the very spotlight she shunned in her 2008 hit as she is proving more and more why she may be the hardest working woman in Hollywood.

With multiple movies in the works, a best-selling book, endorsement deals, and weekly showing on NBC’s ‘Smash’ to her credit, reports have now surfaced that Hudson will be returning to perform on the Oscar stage this week.

The announcement comes just a day after she revealed she was hard at work on her third album with producer RedOne and others…

Hudson is just one of many tapped to honor the resurgence of musicals, including shows like ‘Moulin Rouge’ and ‘Les Miserables’, since 2000.

Report:

“Oscar winners Russell Crowe, Jennifer Hudson and Catherine Zeta-Jones will perform at the Academy Awards in a tribute to the resurgence of big-screen musicals…The performance, which will also feature Oscar nominees Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman…”

In other news, the Grammy-winning songstress also shared snaps this week of her working in the studio with famed writer/producer Salaam Remi:

Salaam is a DOPE producer. Jazmine Sullivan….Amy Winehouse…but unfortunately I don’t see him recreating that magic with J. Hud. Her voice is too one-dimensional.

I agree. She sounds the same on every song.

i understand where you are coming from. she has a very church style voice very broadway ready. if she wants to be a successful r and b or pop vocalist she needs to be more creative musically and try new things. steop outside of her box a little bit. i personlly would love it if she tone it down a bit. she doest need to belt out every song. we get it you can sing. do like j.lo or beyonce or rihanna and glide through a song for one. give us more pary friendly music more realatable music. catur to the 24 to 35 crawd.

I’M EXCITED TO SEE WHAT SHE CREATES SONICALLY.

JHUD’s voice is FAR from one-dimensional…she can do anything! The only thing that has been one-dimensional so far has been her studio albums – and that ain’t her fault. Her capabilities are endless! For reference, check out her singing “Oh Me Oh My” by Aretha, “First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack, and the new song from SMASH, “I Got Love.” Three COMPLETELY different styles – all with nuance, texture, and color.

I like Jennifer, but I wish these shows would start considering other acts.

If flopping means having real talent and winning an oscar, I’ll take that.

She was not needed. Good that she one an oscar once, but she has not proved anything else really in other films or in her music career. We want to see Anne and Hug Jackman cos they are nominated and were in such an spectacular film This Year, and of course Adele and the song which is nominated and she´s never performed before. But Jennifer… is like they want her to be this mega perfect star, and she´s not, she´ll never be at this rate, that voice doesn´t ahve an universal appeal

    • anonymous February 21, 2013

If by “universal” appeal means not being loved by the white media , I’ll take that. As long as she’s loved in her own community that’s what really matters. whether people like her or not, they HAVE to watch her coz she’s the only singer with strong enough vocals in this generation. sorry, but it’s true. she’s the closest thing we have to Whitney Huston right now! I don’t think that they want her to be this mega star, but when they look around for somebody that can REALLY sing, who else can they go to?
