While hard-at-work judging talent hopefuls on season 12 of ‘American Idol’, multi-octave songbird Mariah Carey is still booking studio time with longtime collaborator Jermaine Dupri and more.
Readying her first full length album since 2009, those looking for a taste of what Carey is cooking up may have to deal with an appetizer until the main course is done if recent reports are to be believed.
While we wait on the official new new from Mimi, news has it a brand new single from the diva in due in days…

The song, titled ‘Almost Home’, will be the first official single from the ‘Oz the Great and Powerful‘ soundtrack. The track, distributed by label Island/Def Jam, is also being granted the visual treatment with legendary photographer David LaChapelle said to be at its helm.
No word on when fans can expect the video’s debut.

she is too scared, she promoting her tour because she already knows that the album is a 4lop. so she will take the money from her fans and once she has that tour money she will throw the album in even if its a flop. she will have her fans duped. giving them the same shit without any new material.
she could even cancel some of her tours and you will not get a refund while she keeps the money. i say her fans need to demand from this THIEF before throwing your money away.

I’m excited, the song is going to debut on Feb. 19, 2013 and the video soon after because she shot it already with David (I think).

Anyways, I can’t wait, I’m BEYOND EXCITED. I liked ‘Triumphant’ but THANK GOD there are NO rappers on this . I prefer the rappers on the remixes. For example, the ‘Honey bad boy remix’ was A++MAZING!! And I loved the ‘Fantasy remix’ with O.D.B. as well.
I’m just so HAPPY RIGHT NOW. Finally the SUPERIOR DIVA is back.

About the oscars: Mariah already sang in a song that won an oscar “When you believe”. It´s one of the few songs she has not written in her career so the oscar is not hers (I suppose it´s only for the writers). But I´m just saying in case you didn´t know. These true greats have done it all already

I read the track is produced by Stargate. Previous songs Stargates done for Mariah are from E=MC2, I’m The Chick and Bye Bye. I didn’t particularly care for Im That Chick, but Bye Bye was a nice ballad! I know this has been said a billion times but she should reconcile with Walter A and just record with him again.

This is just another “let’s test the water” single/’promo single’ they’re trying to see what Mariah can get away with. “Triumphant” flopped so they don’t want her going too urban. They’re going to use the reaction from this song/single/promo/buzz single to see what they will hone her album to be like. And to me that’s kind of BS. If the song flops they’re going to just brush it off “oh that was JUST a soundtrack song” but if it’s a huge smash THE BRAND NEW MARIAH CAREY COMEBACK SINGLE.
