Watch: Adele Amazes Academy Awards Audience With ‘Skyfall’ Performance

Published: Sunday 24th Feb 2013 by Rashad

Adele made a triumphant return to stage at tonight’s Academy Awards showing with a stunning performance of her nominated hit ‘Skyfall’ – the title theme song to the latest film in the James Bond series.

Looking to show off her well-praised chops post-baby, tuck in below to see how Brit-bred beauty fared with her first televised performance of the hit song at the Seth MacFarlane-hosted event:

There were parts of this performance Miss Adkins absolutely nailed.  Lending her signature solemn stylings to the song, she certainly conveyed the song’s dramatics live while keeping the cool oft-associated with all things “Bond”.  However, that very “cool” almost seemed to work against her in parts of the performance as it seemed anticlimactic, never completely building to “a moment”.

And, honestly, there were times Adele just looked bored as hell.

Either way, the performance proved an overall hit and reaffirms Adele’s position in a fluff-ridden industry.  For that, we’ll take a hit-or-miss.

I’ve seen the hypnotic effects that Adele’s low-life songs have in little children, acting like evil mantras poisoning their innocent minds with low emotions of bottom-of-the-bottle type of people. But now it looks like someone has proven that her songs actually have influence in the astral dimension, in the underworld, like witchcraft:Adele is a WITCH!!!! I have no doubts in my mind that she’s a witch, what explains why she got on top of the Illuminati music industry so quick and why she won all those Grammys in the same ceremony post Whitney Houston’s sacrifice.

Throw your soul through every open door??? Turn my sorrow into treasured gold??

Is anyone getting this? Its no wonder this singer was so highly awarded.

    Right in plain sight…………

  9. mc the place to be! February 24, 2013

Congrats on the win Adele!! Now that’s what’s you call slay I love her journey!!

  10. JER February 24, 2013

When was the last time your fave just stood on stage and slayes a hit song so effortlessly??? No c****** poppin, lip licking, weave flippin or thunder thigh flailing. And i’ll note there was no ore-recorded “live” track.

    • mob February 25, 2013

But she didn’t slay! I thought she had rehersed the song before hand cause this was simply not that good. Perhaps a pre-recorded track would have helped. Oh and I like Adele so don’t think I’m hating on her. I will say however, I never saw a live (sober) peformance of Amy Winhouse that didn’t slay! i’m just saying…….

This is what I’d call executed but safe.
Adele didn’t push her vocals in the song but kept it neat and sung how the song sounds really.

Needed to be slightly more projected in the choruses and the end could have had a bit more dynamics to build the songs ending but in all honesty she didn’t flop the performance.

    Standard but cool I’d say.

As much as I love and respect Adele, I can admit that she’s a little overrated. Aside from that, she still has one of the greatest voices of this generation- although that’s not saying a lot.

    This performance was just OK.

    • Teacher February 25, 2013

      Just like Beyonce’s Over-overrated ass!

  13. AdeleAdkins- Oscar Winner!! When will ur fav??? NEVER!! February 25, 2013

  14. Iz (Queen Adele) February 25, 2013

Lover her! She looks gorgeous aswell.

  15. JOHNVIDAL February 25, 2013

It wasn´t too good to be honest
But congrats the song is great and deserved to win. She is like the only one doing it a la true greats in the last decade. Huge wins, huge sales, everything. But it´s another proof of how the standard has gone down. A true great from this generation would be Adele and she is clearly inferior to true greats from the 80´s and 90´s, like this performance shows

    • mob February 25, 2013

Poor thing had to contend with Dame Shirley Bassey so what did you expect? lol 🙂

      • JOHNVIDAL February 25, 2013

Yes I know, but being slayed by Shirley at 76 years old? Damn That´s slaying. Old ladies brought it

  16. Music Soul Harmony February 25, 2013

Teacher, b**** sit. Beyonce can do agile runs with control. Adele,
Although talented, does not push the envelope. Adele
Cannot do complex runs nor does she have a lot
Of range. The songs she sings fits her though:BORING.
As for Jennifer Hudson’s performance, strong powerful
    Connection that I felt.

  17. mob February 25, 2013

I LOVE THIS SONG but Adele did not bring it as I thought she would! She sounded flat and seemed at times to be unable to hit the notes live that she did on the studio vesion of this song……deeply disappointed for I have been waiting on a live rendition of this song! 🙁

**Oh well, presses play on the studio recording of Skyfall!!

  18. POP ROYALTY ( RUDE BOY) February 25, 2013

Now she’s The Official Queen of Music To ME , she just Is , and i rate this performance 4/5 !

  19. DIGGER BEY February 25, 2013

I luv Adele! @ Jer……..there’s only one person that fit that description and that ur gurl Hoeianna. Nice try though C**t.

  20. lostone February 25, 2013

long live the queen ADELE>>>f*** all the haters

  21. Saetana February 25, 2013

Are all you moaning c*nts forgetting Adele had surgery on her vocal chords and has barely sang live since? Its pretty obvious she wasn’t going to push her voice and, in any event, why the surprise? She sang the song as it was recorded and she sang it well – however I do not consider it a particularly good Adele song or a particularly good Bond song. This is the difference between writing for yourself about whatever you like and writing a song to order like Skyfall – there just isn’t the same emotion she puts into her songs and nor would there be as Bond songs just ain’t like that. Shirley Bassey is still the best Bond singer for me – a true great, Adele may be one of the greats one day if she stays the course but she isn’t there yet ;o)
