Published: Thursday 28th Mar 2013 by Rashad

Fantasia is ready for you to make room in your cd collections for her forthcoming gem ‘Side Effects Of You’ (April 23).

Indeed, the songstress has been hitting up many-a-city’s radio spots for promo of the album and it lead single ‘Lose To Win’.  The latest stop saw her bringing her sweet sounds to Tom Joyner’s Red Velvet Cake Studios.

Putting it down like only she can, get a taste of Fannie doing live renditions of fan favorite ‘When I See U’ and, of course, ‘Lose To Win’….

I’m mainly a ‘Rock dude’ but Fantasia’s voice is so husky, coarse and rough… I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT and thats probably why I identify with it more!!! 🙂

I’m appalled that vocals like these aren’t being promoted today in R&B/Soul/Urban, and even Pop, markets.

She has such a gritty 1950’s/1960’s ‘Old Soul’- based texture to her instrument… She could right up there with Etta James, Tina Turner, Janis Joplin and Nina Simone if she were given the correct, CLASSIC material to sing.

But I applaud her for staying to true to her CRAFT and not selling out to COMMERCE.

      I’m mainly a ‘Rock dude’

Me too, what’s your fav. band?

      • JARED (WHITE DUDE) March 28, 2013

I’m a Classic Rock/Rock & Roll fan primarily (1965 – 1977): The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Cream, Jeff Beck Group, The Yardbirds, Jimi Hendrix, Blind Faith, Fleetwood MAC, Rod Stewart (The Faces), Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Santana, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Ike & Tina Turner, Lenny Kravitz etc, Aerosmith…

        THE LIST IS ENDLESS.

I do like a bit of Punk, Grunge, Extreme Metal and Alternative… But, for me, it’s mainly Hard-Rock/Blues-Rock/Heavy-Metal/Acid & Psychadelic Rock!!!

        U? 🙂

We can’t be good friends if only Usher……

        *Rolls Eyes*

        We still can be though.

If you just accept Usher as the ‘Prince of Pop’? 🙁

        No, I’m kidding. xo

I love Fantasia’s music but I pray the day when she accepts God’s calling. She will be the Shirley Caesar of our generation. Pastor Barinno.

There’s a testimony in the music she currently makes. She reaches more people this way. This is her calling.

  6. ya March 28, 2013

    I like her new music

  7. MusicLover March 28, 2013

So profoundly gifted until it make no sense. Easily commanding her audience be it uptempo, mid-tempo or slow tracks. Took them club classic style and left them with an inspiring uplifting message on their way out the door. I know a few A-List R&B Divas who should be praying Fantasia doesn’t blow-BLOW up for she will surely erase their names as HBIC. Additionally, I think Tom Joyner should cut this Lose To Win studio performance and place it as the radio play because its so moving and more profoundly delivers the message of that song.

Damn Fantasia is the best! She is so engaging and she has such vocal control.

“Lose To Win” is an excellent song, “When I See You” continues to be a favourite and that little break down (is it from an official song?) was HOT!

    Do your thing Fantasia, respect!

P.S. I LOVE HER BACKUP SINGERS. EXCELLENT HARMONIES.

  9. Mateo March 29, 2013

This was simply amazing, inspiring and first class – traditional entertainment! Fantasia is everything and the truth! The only current mainstream R&B soul singer to actually make me feel something real and move me. God Bless her!

  13. DOSSOME March 29, 2013

there was a time live concerts/performances would pass for music videos..a time when raw talent would easily triumph over smoke & mirrors..a time when a performer would make the audience feel the song and performance…well,Fantasia always reminds me of that time
