Britney Spears Calls On will.i.am To Executive Produce New Album

Published: Thursday 2nd May 2013 by Sam

Having ditched both The X Factor and her fiance, Britney Spears is sporting all new everything these days. However, musically, it seems the singer wants a taste of the familiar.

Enter will.i.am.

The Black Eyed Peas frontman has been an integral part of Spears’ more recent successes, producing their global smash ‘Scream & Shout’, as well as fan-favourite ‘Big Fat Bass’ from 2011’s ‘Femme Fatale’.

As such, it’s little surprise that the 31-year-old’s team have tapped the hitmaker to helm her eighth studio album.

Full story below…

Speaking to Rolling Stone this week, 38-year-old will said:

“After I did a song on ‘Femme Fatale’ — ‘Big Fat Bass’ — and then we did ‘Scream & Shout,’ she really liked the way we worked because of my approach. So they asked me to be involved in, not producing and writing every song, but to be an executive producer on the songs.”

Elaborating on his approach to the hotly anticipated LP, he added that he wants the project to boast a more personable/intimate feel. To achieve this he has spent almost three months in the studio with the mother of two:

“I was like, ‘OK, look, guys, me and Britney need to have lunch four times a month for three months before I even try to go in the studio with her. Because we need to talk. We need to talk about what she’s excited about in life. I gotta talk about the things that hurt her. I gotta talk about the things that make her concerned – she’s a mother. I gotta talk to her about all the things that her fans want to talk to her about. I gotta be the vehicle between her and her fans. We can’t do another song about going on the dance floor. Really? Didn’t we see a bunch of Britney doing that already? Don’t we want to see something that comes from her heart?”

**************

In keeping it 100, the initial prospect of a Britney album exec produced by will.i.am left a nasty taste in our mouths. For, no matter which way it’s diced or sliced, ‘Scream & Shout’ was a steaming pile of poo. No pretty bow or stylish video could disguise that fact.

However, his words on the more personal direction of the project gives us a spec of hope.

For, the “real” Britney Spears has been missing-in-action for the last seven years and her place an auto-bot that’s essentially a shell-of-a-shell-of-a-shell of what she once was. And while we doubt her performing ability will ever return, the next best consolation would be a music that felt more connected to whoever she is at this point in her life.

Jury’s out on whether fans will finally receive that much-needed window-peek or more EDM drivel. Whatever the case, this is one project we’ll be keeping a close eye on.

Ah, no, it will be another generic album with dance smashes, I want In The Zone 2.0.:/ Rumor has it that she will collaborate with Lady GaGa, but it is not confirmed yet.
But anyway, I will bop to her music like always. Go Britney, wish you good luck! 😀

  4. JARED (WHITE DUDE) May 2, 2013

    UGH.

    Why Will.I.Am?

I’d rather she call on ‘Pharell & The Neptunes’ and ‘Darkchild’ and give us back the famous Dance-R&B, ‘Britney/In the Zone’ sound.

    Thise eras were ICONIC.

    If not…

      • . : : h 2 o : : . May 2, 2013

No, but her last album doubled Femme FATale in worldwide sales and her current world tour is knocking the ever-living s*** outta Femme FATale world tour, and that’s what matters.

BTW, 3 of the songs you mentioned weren’t even singles.

        Try harder next time!

        #clocked

    • Oueenbritney May 2, 2013

Child please. Britney always as and always will be superior to Beyonce. You tried it Britney’s last tour was should out just like the missed carter tour. So try again…

      • . : : h 2 o : : . May 2, 2013

        @ QueenBreaknee

        Superior to Beyonce how?

Are we not talking about the same psycho b**** who turned herself into a 70-year-old alcoholic and then spent all her wealth on surgeries and therapy?

Are we really gonna even mention her in the same sentence with someone who has a career as strong as Beyonce’s? Who is as talented, respected, powerful as Beyonce??

Sorry hun, your fav isn’t even qualified enough to take a whiff of Beyonce’s shoes, let alone be “superior” to her.

BTW, I know Femme FATale was sold out but how much did it make?

LOL is it even close to the American leg of TMCSWT alone???

      • Likica May 2, 2013

Gurls, no need to fight. Both of them are extremely popular and successful. But imo Britney made bigger cultural impact and she had one of the biggest debut albums of all time. I mean, 30 million is a huge number, plus her outfit from Baby One More Time is still talked about and you can still see its influence on gurls. Her peak is bigger than Beyonce’s peak.

And Britney is as old as Beyonce, so don’t insult her like that. It’s not nice of you to shade her like that, she had mental problems but she is ok now. And Beyonce has b****** implants as well so she spent money on surgeries as well. And bEYONCE HAS YET TO OUTGROSS cIRCUS tOUR. But yes, Beyonce is more critically acclaimed and more respected but overall, Britney is more commercially successful than Beyonce even if you add DC sales to her name.

    • yoya_Sschur May 2, 2013

i agree with likica.. i also like beyonce and she is truly talented but unfortunately she hasnt have made the impacy that britney has done in music industry… and there is no need to attack britney personal problems, why? britney is a humble person and to talk s*** about her wont make beyonce better… and by the way britney is the most succesful pop female artist of the 00s .. sorry

In other news Will.i.am debuts at no.9 on billboard 200 chart with 29k sold…Good luck Britney

      “29k”?

Even the ‘Generic Dance’ lovers couldnt handle an album full of the same thing.

      *Cries*

      • DOSSOME May 2, 2013

        LOL…If that’s not flopping,then i don’t know what is..even with a top 10 hit,29k only

    • JARED (WHITE DUDE) May 2, 2013

      “29k”?

  13. HONEY May 2, 2013

Hes only the executive producer.. She also has Pharrell, Danja and Hitboy working on the record.

Will says he and Britney want the album to have a more personal feel, so I trust him.

    • yoya_Sschur May 2, 2013

  15. Itsremyshow May 2, 2013

I see this album getting deep. Look what He did to Fergilicous and it’s still a hit banger till this day. I’m excited to see what he pulls out of his hat w. brits spice N wine.

  16. S****** Blonde May 2, 2013

    I’m worry….

  17. CUNTY BREWSTER May 2, 2013

Will.i.am always gives his best work to other artists. Fergie, her album is flawless and you can’t deny it. So as long as he isn’t the producer of all the songs themselves I think this will be a good album. I watched a few interviews and you can tell he actually likes Britney on a personal level, so for that reason I am excited. First single will debut at #1, it’s the standard for Ms. Spears and your faves hardly ever and that’s why you mad!!! 🙂

  18. irene46 May 2, 2013

it’s true britney was a huge record mover in the early 2000s when selling ginormous numbers was far easier without the specter of illegal downloading. other than said records sales, britney hasn’t accomplished a damn thing more than bey. as a matter of fact, beys critical acclaim far out shines any point of britney’s career. she gave a glorified super bowl performance, she’s been in successful movies, and performed more than once for the president and 1st lady. britney’s claim to fame was mostly with the tweens and young teens. her career survives only because of these loyal fans from the old days and media sympathy not because of any recent outstanding accomplishments.

  19. irene46 May 2, 2013

to show how deluded many britney fans are, they’re still trying to make the insane claim that jt is using her to sell albums. yes! justin timberlake who has been out of the music spot light for almost 7 years and busted out with an album selling as much in 2 weeks as ‘femme fatale’ has in two years. yeah, he really needs her! more like the other way around.

  20. TruthSpeaker May 3, 2013

“Scream & Shout” wasn’t that bad you hater. The remix was definitely better and it was a pretty nice effort. It showed a side of Britney that we rarely get to see and you could see the excitement in her throughout. so f*** you for hatin. seedy ass stan sam
