Must See: Kanye West Launches ‘New Slaves’ Song & Video

Published: Saturday 18th May 2013 by Sam

Since blazing onto the scene in 2004, Kanye West has ensured the phrase “innovator” is placed at the forefront of the many words used to describe him. And make no mistake, it’s an entirely apt title for the eclectic MC.

Case, point, his left-field roll-out for new song ‘New Slaves’ and its accompanying video.

Doing away with the usual Youtube debut, ‘Ye is intriguingly launching the song and visual via projection on 66 buildings in 10 major cities (in places such as Europe, America, and Australia) starting last night and continuing on through the weekend. Fans can find out where the next components of the piece will be beamed by checking the interactive map on his official website.

Taking to Twitter, the soon-to-be dad set the net ablaze after announcing:

This was followed by an equally exciting series of messages from Yeezy’s creative partner Virgil Abloh:

And so it went, the video begun unwrapping itself in what is undoubtedly one of the most creative cases of guerilla marketing in recent times.

Without further adieu, check it out (what is believed to be) the full video below…

With music being the freeing, limitless, and creative arena that it is, Kanye continues to trail-blaze by simply embracing these qualities rather than shunning them in a bid to fit-in or be “uniform”. More power to him!

  5. TheTruth May 18, 2013

This is a kayne west post. Where the hell did these Rihanna fans get 77 from? Confused.

    • HOTSTUFF May 18, 2013

Rihanna did the 777 tour to promote her album 7 shows, 7 cities, 7 days

    • miao May 18, 2013

They are trying to find one original and relevant thing/performance Rihanna did in her whole career. And failing over and over again!

“We the new slaves”??? WTF. He’s clearly taking about himself, because neither my family nor I are ‘slaves’ (especially if being black and western is all it taketo qualify, as he seems to be inferring). ‘N**** this n**** that’ <— all that comes out of Kanye's mouth, and not that he's knocked up the most famous w**** on the planet, his egotistical ass has the world stage to showcase his coonery. F*** Kanye and his minstrel show, his music turned to s*** when his mom died anyhow. *Puts on College Dropout*

You are Ignorant in some ways i see,we are s**** mentaly in some way are the other and don’t even now it that,s what he is saying in that song…just like having a bad habbit and don’t even now when you are doing that thing onless someone tells you.

      • D May 18, 2013

        @K
No ignorance around here. This website bleeped out all of the racial epithets I used in my first message, so it does look rather ignorant -_-. I understand what you are trying to say, and I agree. A select few control the world and its resources while doing all it can to maintain the status quo and push their agendas – THAT I totally agree with. However, Kanye’s message (I believe) loses power when he decides to use such profane language. On top of that, he (in addition to a lot of other celebs / media personalities) are part of the problem. He litters occult / satanic imagery throughout his music videos and a lot of his mainstream music follows suit (ie. He’s pushing the agenda – there’s a fine line between creating conscious art and endorsing BS) – so it really irks me when an artist that is blatantly working IN, WITH and FOR the system attempts to play pariah / teacher. (Contrast to Lauryn Hill’s latest song) But to each their own.

Are you an idiot? did you listen to the lyrics of the song? God some people are so freaking stupid, people like you are exactly what he is talking about, walking around just ignorant to what’s going on around you. Maybe you should have listened to the lyrics before making an a** of yourself.

      • D May 18, 2013

        @Shannon
He created a piece of art work, I as a casual listener can critique that art work. CHILL. You have the right to your opinion, so please don’t attack me for mine. Good day.

  12. HoneychildPlease May 18, 2013

I just can’t take him seriously anymore..After dating kim kumtrashian ugh his words are nothing…

    • MyPenIzFresh May 19, 2013

That makes no sense. Who you date has no reflection on where you stand mentally.

While ignorance like this continues to plague the world, Kanye is taking a innovative (albeit odd approach). Congrats Kanye for not being a mindless drone.

@HoneyChildPlease Don’t speak of things that are beyond your grade. Stick to finding clever ways to change peoples name and insult them at the same time. LOL, Classic.

    @ HOT STUFF

where do you think Rihanna got her style from? I sure as f*** know for a fact that she is no innovator. There was plenty of “legends” that came long before her and if weren’t for the likes of Josephine Baker, Tina Turner, Madonna, Cher, etc…there would be no Rihanna. F*** off with your pure delusions. Your generation makes me f****** sick!

    • RiRi Bad May 18, 2013

why do yall pay so much attention to Rihanna n her stans ? Let them talk oh well

    • HOTSTUFF May 18, 2013

B**** Rihanna’s 777 tour inspired this, she was the first, and you will deal. Learn to f****** read h** ! i respect legends and of course they have inspired Rihanna and many others.

  14. DexterValentine(CallMeValentine) May 18, 2013

I don’t have time for this! His girlfriends have got lighter and lighter since he became famous and he’s talking about slaves? …. Himself

  18. Dev May 18, 2013

I dont have time for him or his hog in shoes!

  19. MyPenIzFresh May 19, 2013

This is wild. Kanye is always finding a way to separate himself from the pack. While I may not be the biggest fan of the song.. I appreciate his candid nature. I like that he says whats on his mind, even if I don’t agree.
