The only Beyonce’s album that did better than GGGB is DIL and it has not sold 11 million, that’s probably for shipments. It did like 9-9.5 million. MTV is a mess, they reported than Rihanna’s album sales are at 41 million, so I don’t take them seriously. DIL did 4.9 (The Usa) + 1.2 (The Uk), where is the rest coming from? Sasha Fierce is her most successful album internationally and the only 2xPlatinum album in Europe, so there’s no way that DIL did better than it internationally.

Crazy in Love especially is one of them songs that will never age. Its a party/dance-floor classic. She had people of all ages and walks of life doing the Uh Oh dance. People say Beyonce had it easier because she was in DC but being in a group doesn’t guarantee your success. And people forget her first solo song was actually Work It Out which ironically didn’t really work out. But she was still persistent with that same old school sound she liked and I applaud her. She got herself one of the biggest smashes of the decade and followed it up with other great songs from the album. The album as a collective was really nice and a good debut. And once again could be released as an R&B album today and not sound dated.

I remember the day I bought this CD (the day it was released OBVIOUSLY)…I was so excited! I can’t believe it has been 10 years! I think the summer of 2003 was an AMAZING year for hip-hop/R&B music in general. That was the summer we got Monica’s “After the Storm,” Mya’s “Moodring,” Ashanti’s “Chapter 2,” Mary J. Blige’s “Love & Life” and so much more. Man, it doesn’t feel like it has been THAT LONG. TIME FLIES!!! Beyoncé definitely ruled that summer/year/whole decade though.
