Lady GaGa Performs US National Anthem At New York City Pride

Published: Saturday 29th Jun 2013 by David

A passionate Lady GaGa met with crowds at New York City Pride last night, arriving to celebrate the news that same sex marriages within the state of California are now legal- and the striking down of the ‘Defence of Marriage Act’, which upheld the idea the marriage is between one man and one woman.

Performing the US national anthem and delivering a moving speech to those in attendance, her arrival at the Manhattan event came as she gears up for the release of her third studio album, ‘ARTPOP’, allegedly opting for a more Urban sound this time around.

Watch in her action below…

Gay people, are black too my friend, actually, A LOT of them are. You’re worse than Paula Deen. People like you that make people like her feel its “Okay,” to discriminate. #shame

    I love gaga!!!
Why is Navy Sailor obsessed with me??? Like seriously

Excuse me, if everyone is so big on equality why is it that a Christian or Muslim can’t say they don’t agree with gay marriage without being called a bigot.

If we say we want to live in a free and equal society, every law abiding citizen should have the right to express their opinion and do what they want as long as it doesn’t hurt anybody else.
Why are Churches made to feel evil and hateful if they decide to follow THEIR religion and politely decline from carrying out gay marriages in THEIR churches.

I love that gay marriage is legal but gay people pay just as much taxes as their straight neighbors, but what I am not here for is people trying to tell other people that anyone who doesn’t believe in gay marriage is archaic, old fashioned or homophobic.

    That’s just not the case.

Equality isn’t equality if it comes at the expense of someone else’s freedom to express.

    • dustin June 29, 2013

i don’t often find myself agreeing with someone on your side of the argument, but i have to say that your point was succinctly made. i was raised in the church (i’m a pk) and i think the issue isn’t with the church as a whole. the problem is the loudest voices in the church tend to be the most bigoted. you look at the pat robertsons of the world and they really do so much more harm than good for their cause because as public figures they create an archetype of what non christians see as a “typical christian”. its a first amendment thing. christians have every right to state their opinions freely. however, i personally would never agree to legislation based solely on a religious doctrine, like the arcane biblical definition of marriage.

now the muslim thing, thats a whole other ball of wax. they stone, lynch, humiliate and often times kill homosexuals in broad daylight without fear of consequence or comeuppance. not much polite about that.

goes to listen to same love by macklemore

Thank you. That’s all I’m saying. I WANT gay couples to be able to marry and adopt kids because being straight never stopped someone from being a bad parent.

My only problem is that people who don’t want gay people to be married should be allowed to express their opinion without being hated on, if it’s on the grounds of their religious belief.

It’s wrong to discriminate against people because of their sexuality, but it’s also wrong to tell people that they should feel bad if they decide not to marry a gay couple in their Church.

When it comes to the homophobe bigots at the top of the church, I want people to know that they don’t represent all of the church and that most sane Christians know better than to judge people because of who they’re attracted to, even if they don’t understand it.

    • POP ROYALTY [RUDE BOY] June 29, 2013

can you Both Leave ‘muslims’ out of this ?

i’m muslim and i can care less about someone being gay, It does not affect my life anyway.
like i was all religious on this topic, but i just grew to not to care about it.
be gay be whatever , it doesn’t affect my life.
but not everyone who’s muslim is like me and i’m sure not a lot of Christians are like me.

      • dustin June 29, 2013

maybe it wasn’t fair to make a blanket statement. but to act like what was said is a misnomer is just silly. i am a homosexual man raised in a very christian home who was in a long term relationship with a saudi boyfriend whose family worked for the embassy and tried to do everything within their power to revoke his student visa here in the states when a friend of his snitched to his family. he is back home now. he was beaten senseless upon his return and his father no longer speaks to him even though he has turned his back on his sexuality and me, the love of his life.

i have been directly affected by the hatred bred by islam extremism. so no, i won’t leave it out of the conversation.

though i will say that i give you and your family a ton of respect for the way you have chosen to live.

    • JENNY JONES!!! June 29, 2013

WOW I SO AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAID EXCEPT I STILL SEE MARRIAGE AS BEING BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN EVENTHOUGH I BELIEVE THAT GAY PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE A PARTNER WITH ALL THE RIGHTS THAT A TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE HAS I JUST WON’T CALL IT ‘MARRIAGE’ NOR DO I SEE MYSELF AS BEING A BIGOT. WHY SHOULD YOU BE WITH SOMEONE 30-40 YRS AND GET NO TYPE OF BENEFITS: TAXES, INSURANCE, JOB OR DECISION RIGHTS AT THE HOSPITAL OR UPON DEATH JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE A SAME S** COUPLE. THEN FAMILY THAT MAY HAVE CUT YOUR PARTNER OFF B/C THEY ARE GAY COMING IN AND MAKING HEALTH DECISIONS OR BENEFITING AFTER THEIR DEATH. THAT BS IS NOT RIGHT BUT WE AS STRAIGHT PEOPLE HAVE RIGHTS T0O THAT WE WILL FIGHT FOR AND NOT BEING AGREEABLE TO EVERYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH GAYS NONE OF THAT MAKE US BIGOTS ………….JENNY JONES!!!!

      • dustin June 29, 2013

i appreciate your opinions jenny. i am not as hung up on the term marriage but i respect people that have an attachment to the sanctity of the biblical term.

    • XX June 29, 2013

you can believe whatever you want to believe, its when you start passing laws and taking other actions to oppress others because of your belief, that the problem comes in.

    Queen of the f***.

    • PRINCE MACHIAVEL June 29, 2013

Stop Talking About Your Mome Like That Trashy B****!:-)

  6. Alex June 29, 2013

Good vocal…but where is the falsetto on ‘the land of the FREE?’. Any singer who doesn’t produce a high note/falsetto on that line is a major disappointment. She is a good singer, but her vocal ability is limited. Her natural voice just seems to flatline; yes she can sing, and yes that performance is applaudable but that’s as far as it goes.

    • Pour It Up June 29, 2013

She has limited vocal range that’s why.

      • Alex June 29, 2013

Yeah I gathered. I quite like her music but that’s the beauty of autotune I guess.

      • FAF June 29, 2013

WHET?!? Its not called falsetto when a woman does it, its called head voice.. & I like her hair

      • dustin June 29, 2013

people sing in their falsetto or their head voice when they aren’t capable of reaching the note in their chest voice. gaga clearly did that and then some…

oh and shes a mezzo soprano with a 3 octave range. seriously nothing to sneeze at

      • PRINCE MACHIAVEL June 29, 2013

You’re Goat Stan, You Sure Know About “limited vocal range”! Sit The F*** Down!!!

    • Music June 29, 2013

Dustin, gaga didn’t sing in her head voice or falsetto anywhere in this performance..and her range is 2 octaves. Look at any source.

      • dustin June 29, 2013

re-read my comment, i said that she hit every note beautifully in her chest voice. once again head voice and falsetto is relegated to high notes that someone can’t hit in their chest voice.

and every source i’ve read has stated that her range is just shy of three octaves.

  7. Pour It Up June 29, 2013

    I hate her voice

    • miao June 29, 2013

      Sad.

*plays: Rihanna – Hero (Mariah cover)

  8. Jazmine June 29, 2013

I was waiting for the big:

o’er land of the freeee-EEEEEE! part and it never came!

But I still love you Gaga and you did decent

  9. Ms92 June 29, 2013

It was ok she dodged some parts but it was ok.

  10. rih rox June 29, 2013

    She is still FAT!

  11. Aquarius June 29, 2013

    She was good

  12. RLS June 29, 2013

#1, learn proper grammar. You’re not “here” for it, honey. “Here” for it. #2, NYC does have a Black Pride. #3 Pride is for EVERYBODY.
I was there, it was amazing, and the rally attracts a far more diverse and eclectic crowd
than the huge circuit events. I am black. Most people at the rally were younger and very diverse.
The rally is seen as “lame” by the “cool kids” of the gay community because it’s free, which is
EXACTLY what made it so cool that Gaga chose this event to make an appearance, and not the $150 per ticket pier dance
which prices out a large segment of the community.

  13. JER June 29, 2013

LIFE, DEATH, AND THE HEREAFTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes Gaga!!!!!! GET THAT COMEBACK TRAIL ON THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. JOHNVIDAL June 29, 2013

It was really good. She did better than most of those girls who try at sports events and are supposed to have big voices but fail cos they strain and want to do too much as if they were Whitney Houston. Go Gaga!
People complaining about the falsetto in “of the FREE”: Celine Dion and other people didn´t do it either and their versions were still stunning. Like I said not everybody is Whitney and it´s better to be aware of that and do it your way.

    • Marley June 29, 2013

Beyonce did it and was good.

  15. RJ June 29, 2013

WHAT THE F***, THATGRAPEJUICE! Is it really necessary to mention in EACH AND EVERY Gaga post that her new album should be more ‘urban’, while it’s already known its sound will be a dance-techno infused. DAMN! Sry, had to say 😀

    • CandyWarhol June 29, 2013

Reading is key. They said it’s ALLEGEDLY more urban.

      • RJ June 29, 2013

The word urban =/= Gaga, that is the key! 😀

  16. Rosie June 29, 2013

    She did great!

  17. FAF June 29, 2013

Wait… I don’t get this post?? Her not using head voice shows she can hit the high note full force without needing to use a fake register?? how is that limited vocal ability?

    • rob June 29, 2013

she hits the high note fully , but real vocalists can hit the note fully and transition through registers (chest, head voice , falsetto , whistle etc)), Gaga doesn’t have that skill yet

      • dustin June 29, 2013

so to be a real singer you have to be capable of hitting the whistle register? i don’t think so. she sang it the same way babs did, celine, and so many others. if those women aren’t “real vocalists” i dont know whats real anymore.

    • Music June 29, 2013

Gaga uses a mixed voice sometimes. That doesn’t mean she isn’t a real vocalist, she just hasn’t mastered that technique yet. She’s still vocally trained regardless.

  18. s****** blonde June 29, 2013

Her natural voice is so much better, here she sounds good bu she was trying to sing like beyonce.

    • Music June 29, 2013

….?? U sound stupid. Sry to say. Beyonce? Uh no B woulda done more runs in her rendition.

  19. PRINCE MACHIAVEL June 29, 2013

What’s Up With People Here?!!? Come On Guys She Did An Amazing Job!
Dead @Goat’s Stan Talking About “Limited Vocal” Does Your Fav Even Have A “Vocal”?! Llllloool JOKE Of The Year!

But The Biggest Joke Is That Hateful, Racist H** @LOVEBIRD Taking Off Her Navy Jacket!!!!! lolololololololololololol………. I Can’t Well Rihanna Is Very Disrespectful Toward Her Fans, But Your Crazy Nolife Ass Deserved It, Good Job Rih! Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!

  20. Let’s Be Real June 29, 2013

She did good..sang in the key she’s good at lol but in all honesty I’m not falling for it.GaGa is so transparent. She always does these gay rallies right around the time she plans to drop a single. Bogus.she aimed ti be the next “Madonna” when in reality ..and I pray this girls performance s improve! But Rihanna will be what Madge was to this generation.sorry Stephanie

  21. Marley June 29, 2013

#FACT Gaga has limited range. Go look it up. But just because you dont have much range doesnt mean you aint a good singer… Look at Adele.

    • dustin June 29, 2013

agreed, but everyone has a limited range relatively speaking. gagas strength is in her tonal quality in her middle register.

      • FAF June 29, 2013

Tbh, everyone has ‘limited’ range except Mariah… most powerhouse vocalists have limited range, but significant POWER but I agree about Adele

  22. Belladonna1363 June 29, 2013

She is so Amazing!!!!! My Mother Monster is Back Coming in at Number2 on Frobes, her Tour Made 168million and she Frighting for gay rights & Oh Yeah she can sing her a*s off!!!!!!!!! I cried when I watched this, The Rise of the Phoenix !!!!!!!!!! PawsUp!!!!!!
