Mariah Carey’s ‘The Emancipation Of Mimi’ Eyes 6 Million Sold Mark

While it’s her voice that sees her score the most acclaim, it’s Mariah Carey‘s ability to pen and produce timeless material that will see forever hailed as one of the greatest musicians to ever grace Pop music.

The above point was proved in 2005, when she released one her strongest LPs to date- ‘The Emancipation of Mimi’– 15 years after the release of her self titled debut album.

Fortunately for her, in celebrating her knack for hit making, sales of the aforementioned ‘Mimi’ continue rise this month by way of the hype surrounding her new single ‘Beautiful’.

Good news below…

This week, sales of the Jermaine Dupri fuelled album reached sales of 5,982,905- placing it less than 20,000 units away from reaching the 6 million sold mark.

A feat, that sees the album outsell the entire discographies of artists she now finds herself competing with on today’s charts.

Indeed, while it already been certified 6x Platinum for shipments in the US- the album is now 4 million units away from dwarfing sales scored from all seven Rihanna albums, which total at 9.8 million.

When its global sales are thrown into the mix, ‘Mimi’ can boast of 12 million sold- earning the soprano 10 Grammy nominations, and two #1 singles with Dupri’s ‘We Belong Together’ and the Bryan-Michael Cox driven ‘Don’t Forget About Us’.

In other chart news, Beyonce‘s ‘Dangerously In Love‘ has now shifted 4,881,762 copies in the US since June 22nd 2003 with a further 7 million units worldwide.

Meanwhile, Pink’s 2001 effort ‘Missundaztood‘ holds court with 5,599,711 in her domestic market while Rihanna‘s debut album ‘Music Of The Sun’ currently sits at 607,000 units sold since August 12th 2005- earning it a Gold certification for sales and shipments of 500,000 units!

Elsewhere, after selling 1 million units in its first month of release, Nicki Minaj‘s 2010 debut ‘Pink Friday‘ now boasts global sales of 3.8 million, helped in part by the Platinum single ‘Moment 4 Life‘, the 4x Platinum cut ‘Super Bass’ , and the Rap #1 ‘Your Love‘, which surpassed sales of 1 million back in 2010.

      • Blackout2.0 June 21, 2013

You are do dumb. They said EOM came out 15 years after her first album did. Comprehension is key sister.

“In other chart news, Beyonce‘s ‘Dangerously In Love‘ has now shifted 4,881,762 copies in the US since June 22nd 2003 with a further 7 million units worldwide”.

DIL has sold 10 million units worldwide.

“while Rihanna‘s debut album ‘Music Of The Sun’ currently sits at 607,000 units sold since August 12th 2005- earning it a Gold certification for sales and shipments of 500,000 units!”

    Flop certified gold b****.

  3. navy Nick June 21, 2013

this is hands down a CLASSIC, BUT people sleep on MEMOIRS OF AN IMPERFECT ANGEL by Mariah: if u like IMMANCIPATION, TRUST ME, its on the SAME LEVEL – gooood cd, MARIAH is just lame live now (sad) #beautiful is nice tho…

  4. KATY KAT June 21, 2013

PAYOLAH HAIRY IS THE FAKEST H** OF ALL TIME!!!! SLAMS COME FOR KATY PERRY BECAUSE OF HER REMIXES AND DISCOUNTS, BUT THEIR FAT, OVERRATED FLOP B**** DID THAT MANY TIMES IN ’90S. YOU SHOULD ALL READ THIS.

Around the time of Mariah’s Glitter bomb, Roger Friedman – who would later become part of Mariah’s PR team – came out with this article that explained how Mariah scored number one hits in the 1990s: by releasing them for 49 cents while the regular price of a single was $1.99. At some outlets, singles actually sold for $2.99. At this time, Billboard’s charts were heavily measured by sales, which were more important than airplay at the time.

This trend seemed to start with the single “Honey,” released in the Summer of 1997. Even though the song didn’t have high call-out research, it zoomed to number one based on sales. Mariah’s 1997 album, Butterfly, was selling far below the amount expected. It was eventually certified five times platinum based on overshipments: this number is far more than the actual amount the album sold.

Mariah’s chart manipulation continued with the “number one” single, “My All,” released in 1998. Several musical outlets sold the single for 49 cents while the song garnered mediocre call-out research and less than spectacular airplay.

In the Fall of 1999, Mariah released her Rainbow album and “Heartbreaker” single to bad reviews. “Heartbreaker” was stalling in airplay but became a huge example of chart manipulation. The song zoomed to number one as soon as it was discounted to 49 cents and 99 cents at many outlets. The follow-up single, the barely known “Thank God I Found You,” zoomed to number one based on the same manipulation.

PIGRIAH SMELLY IS THE BIGGEST GIMMICK IN MUSIC INDUSTRY.

    • VisionOfMimi June 21, 2013

Oh f*** off you w****. When will Slutdrop’s Dream scan 3 million? It’s been three years b****!

      • KATY KAT June 21, 2013

DON’T WORRY ABOUT QUEEN KATY. GO BUY MEMOIRS OF A KFC ANGEL BECAUSE IT’S STRUGGLING. IT HAS YET TO HIT 1 MILLION WORLDWIDE BECAUSE IT HAS BARELY SOLD 545 000 COPIES IN THE USA AND AROUND 60 000 COPIES IN THE UK, LMAOOOOOOOOOO FLOP FLOP FLOP. BEAUTIFUL IS FLOPPING TOO. SO, DO SOMETHING FOR F******.

      • VisionOfMimi June 21, 2013

Listen to me you lowly b****. Mariah is worth 15 and a half Katy’s and you’re pressed because all those number one singles couldn’t buy her a happy marriage and the cure to acne.

Don’t make me get crunk on your ass.

    • Fifi June 21, 2013

Alright for a Katy CAN’T SING FOR S*** Perry fan coming for Mariah F****** BEAUTIFUL Carey. B****, please.

      • steph June 22, 2013

Mariah Carey did some shaddy things in her career, once she became her own manager but EVERY BIG STAR DOES

    • Adrian June 22, 2013

Lmao! You’re still pressed because BOTH of Katy’s albums got terrible reviews and much flack for being the downfall of good music.

Who gave you permission to speak?

  5. VisionOfMimi June 21, 2013

TGJ better stan downe for Mariah. I f***** love you for this.

  6. Keep Quiet June 21, 2013

Mariah’s 1 year 1 album MUSIC BOX oversold Riri’s entire 7 years 7 albums catalog. Haha.
Queen of Music >>> Queen of Goats

    • Beyoncé herself June 21, 2013

      Seems legit

    • FAFF June 21, 2013

They won’t come for you, though … I wonder why ? Rihanna can only be compared to ppl they think are “flops” 😆 yet she’s the biggest pop star ? Right ? LOL

    • Navy Sailor June 21, 2013

🙄 and you can say the same about every other contemporary singer. Why single rihanna out?

      • Jayla June 21, 2013

        Right
I love Mariah but why single Rihanna out, Mariah has slaughtered all of these h***, not just Rihanna, STOP HATING

  7. JARED (WHITE DUDE) June 21, 2013

Well, I am not surprised. This album will continue to remain a “classic” for years to come.

Also @TGJ… According to ‘Billboard Biz’, Whitney Houston’s “The Bodyguard Soundtrack” has surpassed sales of 50+ Million this month, becoming the ‘best selling album’ by a lead female artist of all time.

    LEGENDS… Both Mariah & Whitney.

    • Boy June 21, 2013

Thats very inaccurate lol. Because Whitney is not on more than half the soundtracks tracks, the sales dont actually count toward hers. Many people make that mistake. An single artist must appear on more than half the tracks, there are 13 total and she is on 6. Had she been on 7, and not 6, it would have counted as her album. It is however the best selling soundtrack of all time, Not best selling album by a female artist.

      • RoyalKev June 22, 2013

Every single released from that album was a Whitney single! Billboard credits this album as one of Whitney’s!

      • Al June 22, 2013

Wasn’t Toni Braxton’s Let It Flow on that soundtrack as well?

    • TheArtOfLettingGo (johnvidal) June 22, 2013

Oh yes man! Whitney had the biggest era by a female in MUSIC HISTORY with that soundtrack.

  8. BarbzRUs June 21, 2013

    Mariah’s been a bad b**** though. I just don’t like her personality but who gives a f***.

  9. Lana Del Slay June 21, 2013

It was nice of TGJ to show love to the Queen of the OAPs cos the charts sure ain’t.

    • MCThePlaceToBe June 21, 2013

Oh sweetheart, you better keep it all the way cute before I have to drag you AND that two bit tart Rosie.

      • Lana Del Slay June 21, 2013

so that hit single that is number 1 in over 9 countries, top 10 in six, top 20 in four and rising each week with little to no promotion don’t count?…you are dismissed

  10. BeyWhoUWanna June 21, 2013

    The power of payola.

    • DOSSOME June 21, 2013

If you only knew the meaning of the word…

      • BeyWhoUWanna June 21, 2013

If only Mariah could chart without paying CC first.

    • Common Sense June 21, 2013

The power of not being old enough to remember 2005 and how in love people were with Mariah…

  11. Navy Sailor June 21, 2013

Yessss Mimi! TEOM had to be the best “comeback” album of all time. I hope her new album will give classic Mimi like TEOM did. I live!

Huh? I thought DIL sold more than that. 😯

Yessss Rih! “One hit wonders” don’t usually get gold albums! Why didn’t you mention the 1.5m sold WW?

How’s Roman Reloaded doing? Is it platinum in the states yet?

    • TeenageDreamer June 21, 2013

Yes. It is Platinum. Unlike MOTS.

      • FAFF June 21, 2013

Been certified platinum since july 2012 UNLIKE h***** first album 😆 😆 😆 I love how u always ask for updates. STAN for the QUEEN…. 😆

      • Navy Sailor June 21, 2013

It has sold 840,000 copies. One thousand singles, and can’t even scan a milli copies. 😆 Sophomore SLUMP. Unlike Rihanna’s debut album that sold 607k off of one hit single. 😆

      • Navy Sailor June 21, 2013

Certified platinum, due to SHIPMENTS. Poordat. 😆 damn, even a re release couldn’t help her. Want to compare Rihanna’s sophomore album to Nicki’s? Didn’t think so. 😆

    • TruthTeller June 21, 2013

As usual, Basic Arithmetic and comprehension skills is always lacking with the Navy. Beyonce‘s ‘Dangerously In Love‘ has now shifted 4,881,762 copies in the US with a further 7 million units worldwide. Basically for your slow ass.
      US : 4,881,762MIL
      International : 7MIL

      Total Worldwide album sales
      4,881,762 + 7,000,000 = 11,881,762

      • ^AKA^ June 21, 2013

        Nope, that’s inflation.

      • Navy Sailor June 21, 2013

        Ummmmmm I think its 4.8 in US + 3 million internationally….

      • KingBey/QueenOnika June 21, 2013

Hahahah don’t make me laugh. DIL has sold 11 million around the worldwide and you’ll just have to deal.

      • ^AKA^ June 21, 2013

And the source for those 11 million is MTV which reported that Rihanna has sold 41 million albums and Beyonce 120 million. I don’t take them seriously. DIL is probably close to 10 million, but not over it.

  12. WeAreLambily June 21, 2013

You just earned yourself a new reader Sam.

  13. TruthTeller June 21, 2013

LMAOOOOOOOOOO @ Rihanna awful album stats in America(the most important music market in the world). With all her forgettable #1s, she only has 1 multi-platinum album(GGGB) in America. How pathetic. meanwhile Beyonce & Mariah have sevral multi-platinum albums in America.

    • FAFF June 21, 2013

LMAOOOO I thought Loud was double platinum in the US? U mean its not??? 😯 MOTS is her ONLY mutiplatinum???? Even “FLOP” Ciara has 2 😆 😆 See the Nazi only clings to singles……….. & we’re in a DIGITAL era of course microwave pop s*** goes plat., DUH Nicki Starships sold 7mil ww Thats more than all Rigoat singles off this era and the last (excluding WFL)… DAMN

      • Navy Sailor June 21, 2013

        FLOP Ciara has one.

        Goodies – 2.7 million
        Evolution – 1.3

        You tried though!

Starships may have gone 7x platinum, but her album has only sold 840k in America and 1.4 million WW. 😆

      • Beyoncé herself June 21, 2013

The only multi platinum album the goat has in the USA is GGGB, flop b****.

      • Carpe Diem. June 21, 2013

Last time i checked, Diamonds has sold 7.5 Million copies worldwide! Have a seat!

      • Beyoncé herself June 21, 2013

Diamonds sold 7.5 in what planet honey?

  14. NickiSaidDis June 21, 2013

Idc, reading this made me like Ol Mimi again.

  15. NeverTooFarrah June 21, 2013

Thank you TGJ for schooling these kids on what Mariah achieved almost TWENTY years after she got here. I hope she reads this because this was really lovely and heartwarming.

  16. SummertimeSadness June 21, 2013

Kiiiii at Rihanna though. She’s fighting those US sales like Peter fights the Chicken in family guy.

    • CandyWarhol June 21, 2013

Just like Lana fought nature when she pumped her lips with helium. #BOOM.

  17. Courtney June 21, 2013

yeah it took that album eight years to actually sound scan nearly 6 million when it was certified for 6 million shipments 10 months after release in February 2006 not as slow as it took Leann Rimes’s major label debut blue to scan 6 million in December 2012 after being released in July 1996

  18. GaGa 4 Adriana June 21, 2013

The fact that PF sold more than Loud with all those number ones. Nicki screwed up with RR and Rihanna can’t match her single sales.

    • Navy Sailor June 21, 2013

      Loud – 6 million
      PF – 3.8 million.

      🙂

      • Draggin4MrsCarter June 21, 2013

6 million? Kiii to the motherfucking kiii kiii. In your dreams m’lady, Loud sold 4 worldwide so you can take those phoney sales you’ve got there and stick them where the sun doesn’t shine.

      • Navy Sailor June 21, 2013

Honey, Loud sold 5.9 million as of 2011 and its been selling steadily ever since. I’m sure it’s around 6.2 by now.

  19. S****** Blonde June 21, 2013

This is old news, the album was uncertified, it’s okay, Janet remains the Queen of uncertified album with a total of 5, i can see the ‘Emancipation of Mimi’ and ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’ reach the 20 million mark wordlwide, just wait.

    • ^AKA^ June 21, 2013

LOL. Last time Mediatraffic updated their sales, Confessions on a Dancefloor was at 9 7000 000 copies and The Emancipation of MImi at 9 5000 000 copies. Madonna has sold only 1.7 million in the USA and still managed to outsell Mariah, interesting 😀 And those 12 million for both are inflated, probably shipments.

      • S****** Blonde June 21, 2013

Mediatraffic is not a reliable source, They usually inflate numbers for certain artists and decrease other sales, Madge and Mariah are one of those, both albums has sold 12 million copies ww, Mariah wins in the states while Magde in the rest of the world.

  20. PhuckYoFave June 21, 2013

And the TGJ spin machine keeps on f****** spinning. 6 million after ten years is a flop when GGGB is on 6 million in less than time. You better start spilling the true facts and stop praising these old h***.

    • Navy Sailor June 21, 2013

According to ChartNews, GGGB reached the 9 million mark last year 🙂

      • AQueenLikeBey June 21, 2013

LIES. ALL LIES! You are a bloody liar. 9 million? OMFG you and your lies Sailor. You and your f****** lies.

      • ^AKA^ June 21, 2013

He is not a liar, it’s true. You shouldn’t come for his source since it’s the only one that claims that 4 has sold 3 million. Mediatraffic has it at 2.7 and MusicCharts at 2.8.

      • BeachHouseBritney June 21, 2013

        What kind of inflation.

      • Navy Sailor June 21, 2013

^^Lmao exactly boo! Like, what do I have to lie for? I’m not getting a dime from her sales. Don’t shoot the messenger. 😆

      • Lana Del Slay June 21, 2013

        Navy and ha lies.

    • Common Sense June 21, 2013

GGGB is at 6 million worldwide. Why are you comparing it to Mariah’s 6 million in the US only? World wide Emancipation has sold 12 million which dwarfs Rihanna’s best selling album.

      • ^AKA^ June 21, 2013

Nope, it’s not. It has sold 3+ million in Europe and 2.8 million in the USA and 500 000+ in Canada. It has sold more than that for sure. And TEOM has not sold 12 million, those sales are inflated. She only did 1+ million in Europe and 6 million in the USA. Other 5 millions come from where exactly??

      • theman June 21, 2013

“TEOM” Sold way more than that. Try again….^^^^

      • ^AKA^ June 22, 2013

It’s certified 1xPlatinum in Europe, so no, you try again ^^ 12 million is for shipments, those are not sales. It did 10 million maximum.

  21. CholaBey June 21, 2013

The Navi are telling some tall tales today. 6 million on Loud? 7 million on Diamonds? These girls are giving me Pinocchio REALNESS.

    • Navy Sailor June 21, 2013

So an album that sold 5.9 million in 2011 has completely STALLED 2 years later? Please. And if Diamonda sold over 3 million in USA why is it hard to believe that it sold 7 mill WW?

      • BeyWhoUWanna June 21, 2013

What is Diamonda. A spanish novela or something?

      • Navy Sailor June 21, 2013

It’s called a typo honey, but I live for the diversion. 🙂

    • ^AKA^ June 21, 2013

Since Beyonce stans love to use MusicCharts.net because their sales are higher than Mediatraffic, yes, Loud has sold 6+ million.

      2010 YEAR END CHARTS
      Loud
      Rihanna
      [2 314 300]

      2011 YEAR END CHARTS
      Loud
      Rihanna
      [3 806 800]

Loud did actually 6.1 million at the end of 2011. It’s probably close to 6.5 million. You can check it on your own if you don’t believe me.

And the fact that Crazy In Love is not even 2xPlatinum in the USA and not even at 1 million in the UK, I don’t really see how it did those delusional 8million that stay on Wikipedia. Diamonds has outsold it for sure.

      • ADC143 June 21, 2013

Crazy In Love wasn’t released during the digital singles era, fruitcake. CIL came at a time when fans couldn’t lazily press a button and have the song, and instead had to actually drive to the store and buy a physical copy of the music.

      • ^AKA^ June 22, 2013

Yes and? I still don’t see how it did 8 million. Maybe if you include 0.01$ ringtones.

  22. JER June 21, 2013

thatflopjuice giving me all kinds of bully T’s. Can’t let someone shine without tearing someone down. Couldn’t just talk about Mariah’s accomplishments, had to take a constant dig at Rihanna SMH. The insecurities

    • BeyWhoUWanna June 21, 2013

Why would they be insecure when they stan for the King.

  23. HOTSTUFF June 21, 2013

Why make this about RIhanna ? LOL. Mariah has outsold every current pop heaux out right now including Thiefonce. She is the biggest selling female artist in history or 2nd after Madonna or what ever cause one minute it’s Madonna and the other it’s Mariah. Anyway back to the topic, stfu cause Mariah shits on everybody not only Rihanna.

    • S****** Blonde June 21, 2013

Madonna is in a global scale, however they are very close in the US, they need to kill Barbra, that b**** refuses to go.

      • ^AKA^ June 21, 2013

And Barbarae has like 30 albums LOL. Her albums sales are good, but nothing impressive compared to Madonna’s since Madonna did more with less albums 🙂

      • S****** Blonde June 21, 2013

I know but the b**** needs to go, Madonna has like 3 uncertified albums in the US, ‘Who’s That Girl’, ‘TMC’ and ‘Ray of Light’ but forget about that, Madge old record label won’t waste their time on that, lol.

      • HOTSTUFF June 21, 2013

ok ^^….Barbra has released an album recently ? O.o

      • JARED (WHITE DUDE) June 21, 2013

        @Likica…

        @S****** is correct.

The sales of Barbra’s first 10-15 albums have not been.counted as they were released prior to 1970; the stereo era, therefore, just like Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, the majority of their albums ARE NOT certified, legitimately because album sales were tracked through ‘Jukeboxes, Cashboxes, Cassette buying’ etc…

Wo, technically, it is possible that of Barbras early albums were counted, she may have easily outsold Madonna but we’ll never know.

        🙂 🙂 🙂

      • S****** Blonde June 21, 2013

        @Jared
Take for example that The Beatles are not the best selling music act of all times, Elvis is, he has like 200 albums uncertified in the USA only, of all them has sold over five hundred thousand copies but the RIAA only take into account sale of 1 million or more, he is the only one who has truly sold 1 billion copies ww, The Beatles 1 billion records are b*******.

The Beatles – 600 million records
        Michael Jackson – 400 – Thriller sold 65 not 110 millions.

      • S****** Blonde June 21, 2013

        Typos sorry folks

        @HotStuff
Yes, she released a compilation album in 2012.

      • JARED (WHITE DUDE) June 21, 2013

        @S******…

        Yes Babe. I agree.

In my opinion, Elvis truly is the “Best Selling Musical Act of all Time”, not the “Beatles”.

The same applies to Barbra, as I previously stated, she has, at most, 15 – 20 albums uncertified, her first album that was truly certified was ‘Stoney End’ in 1971.

Barbra released her first album in 1955, which is now out of date.

It’s the same with Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Little Richard etc… They should all have sales of over 300 Million respectively, worldwide.

        I can’t stand Billboard rules.

      • S****** Blonde June 21, 2013

I’m not sure about Barbra and others like Little Richard since they were never a good albums sellers nor singles, remember that elvis was the first to have big sales, Crosby can suck my d***, Frank sinatra however should have sold at least at 300 million records now, i don’t think Barbra has ever been that big outside the US, MADONNA is the third best selling singles artist worldwide only behind The Beatles and Elvis, so that puts her on top inevitably no matter if others catch her total albums sales which as 2013 are estimated in between 219-225 and she is now third on that this time behind The Beatles and Michael Jackson, she was in fourth place in 2008 with 188.500.000 albums sold.

      • theman June 21, 2013

MC is bigger in the US/ASIA/BRAZIL. Madonna was out earlier. MC will pass her..

      • TheArtOfLettingGo (johnvidal) June 22, 2013

Damn some of you are getting this certifications s*** the wrong way. Yes there are albums which are uncertified but RIAA still counts their sales for the total these artists have sold. I mean, it may be true that Janet has many uncertified albums, but her sales in the USA are known and counted by RIAA, she´s at 30 millions or so I think in the USA.

      • Jenna June 23, 2013

I stan for Mariah. But no one tries Barbra. she is the orginal Diva. We must all bow down. nobody is worthy!

  24. Lil Mo Stan June 21, 2013

Im sorry, but am I the only one in TEARSlike real tears at the rihanna shade? Hahahaha no t no shade, but sam you didnt have to drag her like that. Why not put her LOUD sales up or something, but either way. Omfg I still f****** laughing tho…….lawd have mercy!

    • ^AKA^ June 21, 2013

Care to share Lil Mo’s album sales with us?

  25. Rosie June 21, 2013

“Rihanna‘s debut album ‘Music Of The Sun’ currently sits at 607,000 units sold since August 12th 2005- earning it a Gold certification for sales and shipments of 500,000 units!”
Haha. And with a top 2 single. Lame shade attempt, though.
“Nicki Minaj‘s 2010 debut ‘Pink Friday‘ now boasts global sales of 3.8 million,”
I cannot. Stop lying Sam. That’s her entire discography’s worldwide total.

  26. HOWYOULIKEIT June 21, 2013

WOW. Mariah Carey album to outsell rihanna whole discography. Now that what you call selling.
So music of the sun has sold 600k units since its debut? wow

  27. ratedxxx(my favs stays on)) June 21, 2013

that grape juice is so full of s***..they have to make up s*** just to get some hits…

first of all, mariah carey doesn’t need to compete with anybody..because the bish has at least 1 album that outsold all these b****** albums put together..

all these katy perry, ciara stans, and so on needs to have several seats…they will never be on mariahs fat ass level..

  28. ratedxxx(my favs stays on)) June 21, 2013

and second, rihanna’s has old more than 10 million albums worldwide, because I remember a couple years ago this site, reported that good girl gone bad has sold 9 million world wide….

and I also remember they reported that loud has sold 5, 6 million worldwide…

and as much as I cannot stand beyonce’s fake ass..her first album sold over 12 million world wide…

  29. DANIEL T June 21, 2013

LMAO!! This site is so ratchet!! I can’t believe my eyes sometimes! What a pointless post! Gotta love it tho ha ha

  30. Slayty Perry (Killer Queen) June 21, 2013

I need proof of this alleged 3.8 million worldwide for Pink Friday. That album sold less than 2 million in the U.S and there’s no way in hell it sold more than 1.8 million worldwide. That plastic flop is local. Last time I checked she was 2.9 Million worldwide

  31. Lovebird June 21, 2013

Wait, so Dangerously in Love only sold 7 million worldwide?? I thought it sold more than that lol. So Beyonce’s album sales aren’t that great.

    • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) June 21, 2013

i think they meant 7 million in addition to the 4+ million she sold in the US. Still basic considering that Emancipation outsold her and Mariah Carey is almost 10 years older than her. 🙂

      • Lovebird June 21, 2013

No, Beyonce is LOCAL, there’s no way her worldwide sales can outpace her US sales, never has happened even when she was in Destiny’s Child.

I’m thinking 4 million US + 3 million World Wide.

Even so, 7 or 11 million for an album that came out in 2002-2003 is BASIC considering Britney, Christina, Usher were doing that in the US alone. I mean Alicia Keys first album sold way more than this and the hive pant up Beyonce as the greatest thing in RnB music and yet all I see is BASIC.

      • ADC143 June 21, 2013

“yet all I see is BASIC.”

Remove the mirror from your monitor then.

      • . : : h 2 o : : . June 21, 2013

        I just feel sorry for you @ HateBird . . better embarrassed . . .

        Always talking 100% delusional s*** without having any receipts . . . . .

      • Lovebird June 21, 2013

        @ADC143
I got this from another site,

Interestingly, Beyonce’s album sales have declined with each release. ‘Dangerously in Love’ sold 4.9 million, ‘B’Day’ sold 3.3 million, ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’ sold 3 million and ’4′ sold 1.3 million.

These are signs of a fading Diva, especially in the only market where she actually shifts albums. Your home girl knows her REAL sales and so does Sony, this is why she is struggling with the 5th album as CONFIRMED by Ne-Yo.

      • ADC143 June 22, 2013

Blah…Blah…Blah. I couldn’t care less about your raggedy ass commentary.

You’re still ugly as f***. Damn, did they throw hot Folgers in your face, or what?

Get that grotesque mug of your fixed first, and then maybe I’ll give you 10 seconds to bore me with your bootleg analysis that you can’t get anyone else to take seriously.

  32. Mark111 June 21, 2013

Ask Janet if your first attempt really matters after you break through. If ya want to go there, DC first album went on gold as well. Now, ask Ciara, 50, Nelly and Ashanti (did not mean to drop couples, lol) how their careers doing after popping off so quick without the ground work. But congrats to MC… atleast one of her last 5 albums is selling… after all these years.

  33. . : : h 2 o : : . June 21, 2013

    @Samantha

I think DIL is at 9 million, not 7.

In fact Beyonce has sold 25.5 million solo and 36 million as the leader of Destiny’s Child.

Pepsi reported her sales @ 100 million but I think they counted shipments and digital sales… No way she sold that much lol

Oh, and no need to compare her with Mariah Carey everytime she takes a breath.. Not when your fav could never get a $100M tour while Beyonce is on her 2nd/3rd.

  34. SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) June 21, 2013

This girl is holding on to $100 million tour though. What do you mean by “could never get a $100M tour?” Mariah never had any major tours in her prime and the fact that Adventures grossed 86 million with only 40 shows, while I am world tour barely grossed $120 million with 108 shows…

    • Lovebird June 21, 2013

Honey, I never knew “estimations” translated into “facts”. LMAO

      • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) June 21, 2013

        Lol. what do you mean?

      • Lovebird June 21, 2013

They “estimated” that MCS Tour will gross over $100 million USD, but until the actual figures come out, these remain estimations.

Any analyst can come up with an estimation, even one paid by PepsiCo.

      • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) June 21, 2013

Oh, I thought you were trying to say that I am World tour didn’t gross 120.

      • Lovebird June 21, 2013

LOL I am’s numbers change all the time that I do not pay attention to them anymore. I’ll just go with it doing over $100 million, that’s it.

      • . : : h 2 o : : . June 22, 2013

While in fact IAT did $120M and $128M inflated by 2013 ticket prices.

    • . : : h 2 o : : . June 22, 2013

      120 > 100

      80 < 100

      . . FYI

  35. Lovebird June 21, 2013

And since we are inflating figures, Rihanna has sold a total of over 180 million records. Slowly but surely catching up to legends Mariah and Madonna.

    http://youtu.be/rSE2SOjDCN0

    • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) June 21, 2013

Omg. I completely loved this performance. Her vocals were on point.

      • Lovebird June 21, 2013

Yasss, she was on point here.

    • . : : h 2 o : : . June 22, 2013

Then I guess Beyonce remains unbothered with more than 120 million albums worldwide according to MTV . . that’s like . . . 80 million albums ahead of your fav.

    • TheArtOfLettingGo (johnvidal) June 22, 2013

      Buahahahaahha what a joke!

  36. Lovebird June 21, 2013

So Britney, who came out at around the same time Beyonce came out has 2 10 million+ albums, and even her later releases (Britney & In the Zone) have sold better than Dangerously in Love, Beyonce’s most successful album.

Really why do the Hive hype Beyonce’s sales so much? These are basic considering she started at a time album sales were strong.

And not only that but her sales have been FALLING consistently since DIL came out.

    • . : : h 2 o : : . June 22, 2013

      What about Rihanna though? 🙁

      • ADC143 June 22, 2013

That’s a good question. What about Rihanna? According to the RIAA, this h** has only ONE multi-platinum album to her name, and that one is only 2x platinum. Ha! The rest of the time she stalls at platinum. Yet her fans swear she’s slaying with those p*** poor averages.

Meanwhile Def Jam KNOWS that she can’t do any better than that, and so throughout the year they sporadically summon her to put her ugly ass voice on a bunch of miscellaneous scratch demos that they turn into an “album” behind her back. Then when it’s released after yet another pathetic interview where Rihanna cries about missing Chris’s d*** and fists, it slowly hobbles on one leg (and regular price slashes) to platinum.

        Rinse and repeat.

      • . : : h 2 o : : . June 22, 2013

        @ ADC143

        ROTFL!!!

        I can’t breathe . . too much b******* in here!

Everything she does is controlled by f****** Def Jam . . she has almost zero input in her music . . even Jay-Z gets more royalties for sales than she herself does . . to struggling to go 10M in the world’s biggest music market after 7 albums released back to back . . .

        IDK what to say TBH . . . . .

    • Rach June 22, 2013

What about Justin aswell? Check his sales. What about Rihanna why couldnt she do Gaga album sales WITH discounts? @ADC143s comment>>>

    • TheArtOfLettingGo (johnvidal) June 22, 2013

How can you sit there and write that? Yes Beyonce´s sales are not too impressive. She´s no damn Mariah as everybody knows. But you stan for Rihanna honey. You should stfu if you don´t want to be considered a joke. Try these album sales fight with people on Rihanna´s level, I don´t know, Katy Perry and the likes.

      • 2 chainz stan June 22, 2013

But you stan for Mariah. The most overrated Payola s*** in the universe!!!

Beyonce Giselle Knowles >>> Rihanna>>>>>> Mariah’s poor vocals and boring performances.

BEYONCE MURDERS MARIAH IN EVERYWAY POSSIBLE AND YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DEAL F**

      • TheArtOfLettingGo (johnvidal) June 22, 2013

That´s your delusion. Ok. But wasn´t this post about sales anyway??? You are so out of order. You are mad at these facts.

  37. Ronaldo June 22, 2013

Mariah Carey doesn’t even have to do anything to prove her point she already did that decades ago, … with her 675 million networth work mimi

  38. Rach June 22, 2013

    Lmao at Rihanna

  39. Joya` June 22, 2013

    LOL

Like who cares that TOEM is eying 6 million sold after almost a decade in release? This post was just a transparently underhanded excuse to bring up Rihanna’s poor debut album numbers in the meantime. 😆

    I’m not mad tho.

  40. TheArtOfLettingGo (johnvidal) June 22, 2013

Well FINALLY TGJ praises Mariah Carey without shading her in any form. Congrats guys. You know we are talking about a true great.
Mariah Carey´s 90´s decade>>>>>>> rest of b****** existences put together.
Mariah Carey´s The Emancipation of Mimi in 2005 out of her peak>>>>>>> still bigger than any other album by 00´s biches including the most successful album among those ones, which is supposed to be Dangerously in Love by Beyonce.
I mean, do you need more proof? how can anyone throw shade in any Mariah´s post when an album released by her way out of her best decade and peak still outsold every album by these girls despite the fact they WERE/ARE at their peaks and best moment? I can´t…

    • 2 chainz stan June 22, 2013

Too bad Mariah could never sing and entertain like Beyonce. Old queen

  41. James June 24, 2013

Out of all of Mariah’s more popular albums, including Music Box, Daydream, or Butterfly, I think TEOM was her most overrated. Its not a bad album by any means, but her 90s work still sh@ts all over Emancipation. Still, if her newest album is anything near as good as TEOM was, I’ll be a very happy Mariah fan.
