Miley Cyrus On New Music: ‘I Want Something That Feels Black’

Published: Thursday 13th Jun 2013 by David

I want Urban. I just want something that feels Black’.

In case you were wondering, the line above was spewed by former Disney belle/current Ratchet Pop purveyor Miley Cyrus– revealed this week by the writers behind her new single ‘Planet IV‘.

Want to know why this comment has so many up in arms?

We’ve got the full story below…

In a conveniently timed interview with Vibe, Planet IV went some way to explain how the single ‘We Can’t Stop’ came to be, and what Miley asked for when enlisting them to create it.

The writing duo revealed:

“When you listen to the Miley Cyrus record that we did, it’s not ratchet but it definitely has a lot of Urban feel to it. “She was like, ‘I want Urban. I just want something that just feels Black.”

Unfortunately for them, repeating the last line of that conversation has seen many question what the ‘Hannah Montana’ meant by ‘something that feels black’, with some hinting- ourselves included- that Ms.Cyrus was not on the hunt for something ‘Black’ but for something stereotypical.

To my homegirls here with the big butts

Shakin’ it like we at the strip club

And every line in the bathroom

Tryna get a line in the bathroom.

Ebonics, big butts, strip clubs and cocaine….’black’ enough for you Miley?

It’s such a shame that in an age where the likes of Beyonce, Rihanna and Emeli Sande have gone so far in pushing the diversity that can be found in ‘Black’ music, the likes of Miley and her seemingly ignorant writers confuse ‘Black’ music with Urban culture.

For, in showcasing the true extent of her musical knowledge, Cyrus’ ‘Black’ request and subsequent use of ebonics, drug references and ‘Hey hey Shante’ lingo is both distasteful and a little disturbing.

Perhaps, if she’d taken the time to educate herself, she’d have known that ‘Urban/Ratchet’ is not synonymous with Black culture- and that race should never be used to define the genre of music an act makes.

  3. Mark111 June 13, 2013

So popping your ass and drinking in clubs and acting like a fool is BLACK? See, this is what they see us as. I can’t. And this has nothing to do with other White artist doing Urban music, just HER saying that.

    • FAF June 13, 2013

That’s why I don’t like her or this stupid f****** song STOP trynna copy rihanna… its annoying one is enough !

    • Music June 13, 2013

Sorry, I’m black and that IS what black ppl do esp at parties. Now since she’s white ppl will accuse her of stereotyping us but if this were beyonce or rihanna ppl would still condone it mindlessly….

      • IDK June 13, 2013

DO you really think beyonce and Rihanna would really say some stuff like that?!? It is what it is. She shouldnt of said it. If she would of just said Urban, that wouldve been fine.

      • Music June 13, 2013

@IDK I was talking about the way they act. Acting rachet and hood and the fans will accept it just cuz they are “black”….

      • IDK June 14, 2013

        You might have a point.

  4. Oh Baby(B****** Will Bow Down And Deal) June 13, 2013

I like Miley but she needs to have several with those statements! Da fuq baby girl? calm those tits girl. and btw,I don’t like the new song, sounding like a R**** reject song from Talk That Flop.

    • SHADE=DENIAL June 13, 2013

The funny things is we can’t stop was meant for rihanna lol?

    • Music June 13, 2013

That’s cuz Mike Will initially wrote it or made it with Rihanna in mind but she didn’t take it. So yeah…but it looks like the fans love it. I don’t think it’s anything special but it might get her noticeability with the black crowd so *shrug*

  5. BeyWhoUWanna June 13, 2013

What a stupid b****. Now I know why some Black people are always mad at the world.

    • Toto June 13, 2013

Guess what, BET (and other shows/channels)PROMOTES that kind of behavior of black folks. So, if you don’t like it, stop tuning in to shows that promote and showcase ignorant bad behavior.

      • GOGO June 13, 2013

How does BET promote that type of behaviour? Channels like MTV and VH1 promote that behaviour!!! Get it RIGHT!

    • WTF June 14, 2013

because idiots like say shyt like that and think u should get a hero cookie for it. smh.

  6. AzaleanArmy June 13, 2013

    Stereotypes are so low.

    • ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) June 13, 2013

True, but who do you think wrote and produced the song? More than likely a black person. Black people feed into the stereotype just as much as it’s believed. Especially if money’s involved…#Truth

    • Toto June 13, 2013

Stereotypes also have a bit of truth to them. Sorry… #Truth.

      • IDK June 13, 2013

of course they have SOME truth to them where you think they come from?! but soe s*** you just dont say. She could of said Urban and left it at that.

  7. BarbzRUs June 13, 2013

  8. AJ June 13, 2013

i feel like it is important to note that planet iv is a duo composed of two black men…

    • HausMuthaAdele June 13, 2013

Yes, that’s why I’m glad TGJ called them ignorant.

  9. Blackout2.0 June 13, 2013

    What kind of ignorance?

    • ASHWARD June 13, 2013

the same kind of ignorance the majority of this site’s audience spews when they claim Nicki Minaj went with a ‘white’ sound in regards to her pop music.

As usual, the black community will jump on the race card and be quick to criticize an unintentionally offensive comment, yet when the shoe is on the other foot, black people have NO problem feeding into prejudice and stero-type.

      • Touché June 13, 2013

“As usual, the black community will jump on the race card and be quick to criticize an unintentionally offensive comment, yet when the shoe is on the other foot, black people have NO problem feeding into prejudice and stero-type”?

Do you even realize that you just contradicted yourself? You just said that black people as a whole think and do in such a manner that you just described. Realize that any generalization of that nature is beyond ignorant. Please analyze your statement next time before you post such nonsense.

      • Ashward June 14, 2013

Where’s the contradiction? Maybe YOU need to ‘analyze’ your statements.

I wasn’t criticizing black people for making generalisations – nor Miley. I was merely pointing out the hypocrisy of the comments on this site.

I make generalisations all the time – as does everybody else. Its a core aspect of social psychology and instinctual. My issue was with people claiming to be above or upset about a throwaway comment when they will be guilty of the same thing on the next post.

Don’t try and act smart and read in to things – it doesn’t work for you.

      • Touché June 14, 2013

In your own words: ” the same kind of ignorance the majority of this site’s audience spews when they claim Nicki Minaj went with a ‘white’ sound in regards to her pop music”.

You called the audience ignorant even though your own comment was completely ignorant; this is the contradiction.

“I wasn’t criticizing black people for making generalisations – nor Miley. I was merely pointing out the hypocrisy of the comments on this site”?

That’s not what I was addressing to you darling. I said YOU were the one making generalizations about blacks by saying that as usual the black community acts in the manner in which you had described. That was beyond stupid to say.

“I make generalisations all the time – as does everybody else. Its a core aspect of social psychology and instinctual”?

Wrong. Generalizations in the context you used was inaccurate. Try again.

“My issue was with people claiming to be above or upset about a throwaway comment when they will be guilty of the same thing on the next post”?

Firstly, most of the people who commented on here weren’t “upset”, they just mainly called her ignorant or claimed it wasn’t a big deal. Anyway, I understand what you were trying to address but I don’t understand why you had to say that “as usual the black community…”. It’s not just black people on this site who comment. There are other races who comment on this site even on posts with Niki minaj where they talk about “white washing” so why didn’t you target them as well?

“Don’t try and act smart and read in to things – it doesn’t work for you.”

You might want to take your own advice because you honestly made yourself look completely irrational.

      • WTF June 14, 2013

why is it unintentional when ur too daff to be able to tell the difference between the black community and individuals who happen upon this garbage site and see ur lack of tack on front street? for instance,i’m not a community,im just one person who finds this type of reverse psychology purile. why is it ok to characterize a whole segment of society? from over here, its not cute at all. exactly the underlying problem with miss cyrus’s uncool comment. of course its going p*** off any black person not content to appear to be a walking cliche. think about it?

  10. Oh Yeah!!! June 13, 2013

*Twisted Face* …B****.. As much as I like Miley, I’ll smack the s*** out of her for that. Being “Black” ain’t easy and that’s what pisses us off when we see White people trying to play the part.. White people acting “black” has never been cool to me because black people don’t “Act” a certain way. It’s more to us than being loud and fried chicken.

    • Navy Sailor June 13, 2013

Your father is a wise man.
Everyone likes what black people bring to the table and what they can get from it, but nobody wants to be black. Mariah didn’t claim her blackness until it was in fashion.

  18. JJFan1814 June 13, 2013

    Um Sam don’t try it.

This song was meant for Rihanna along with Selena Gomez’s ‘Come & Get It’….Planet IV even said it themselves!!!

    • BitchyBey June 13, 2013

That’s besides the point. She fixed her mouth and asked for something Black sounding, so she was asking for a stereotype even if Rihanna took that song first.

  19. ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) June 13, 2013

I agree with Sam and a lot of other comments on here but who do you think wrote and produced the song? More than likely a black person. Black people feed into the stereotype just as much as it’s believed. Especially if money’s involved(i.e. television, movies, music etc)…#Truth

    • Touché June 13, 2013

    • WTF June 14, 2013

WTF? that is pure and simple racist reactionary garbage. this thread is about miley montana. not all f****** black people.whom it is obvious u know nothing about. be very quiet indeed switch. all “black people”, i assure u are not feeding into ur rediculous observations. where do u waste of good air come from? and why do u think u have something worth saying? u miss thang, make miley look like a nobel laureate.

  20. JARED (WHITE DUDE) June 13, 2013

    @TGJ…. I completely agree.

Yes, I’m White and I know that I may treading on ‘wet concrete’ here but, I’m going to be a realist for one minute because I’m not stupid:

That is why there is a certain aspects of the White music industry and, overall, media that I despise. It’s funny how they can “miraculously” transform behavior deemed and construed “inappropriate, hood, ratchet”, performed by a Black person, by mainstream American standards, etc… into something “adorable.” when performed by White people.

This is nothing more than attempt to “affirm” her street credibilty and gain a Black fanbase for sales but once her mangerial team are tired of this faux- persona she’s putting forward, they will soon retire her from the ‘urban’ scene and re-market her back into the ‘All-American’ Pop Girl that she once was.

It’d be different if she actually had a genuine interest, and passion, in ‘Black/Urban’ music [Robin Thicke, Jon B, Average White Band] but many of them don’t and truly have no connection to it, other than for popularity causes. – ala: Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake etc.

Every non-Black person wants a piece of ‘Black Culture’ but they don’t actually want to be ‘Black’ or associate themselves with the race in ‘that way’.

I’m cultured and SEE RIGHT THROUGH IT ALL.

Her father is a country one hit wonder. She couldn’t have less of an urban connection if she tried. You’re right the b**** is rich, but the b**** is also irrelevant and wants more hits. She is currently in limbo, no Disney audience and no adult audience which is why she wants to appeal to an “urban” audience.

Try spending hundreds of years in shackles, decades of being attacked for being black by white people AND your own race.
I never want to have a us and them approach to white people, but my ancestors didn’t go through what they went through just so some idiot teeny bopper can make stupid statements like this and think it’s cute. It’s not.

This isn’t about white people making r&b and selling more because they’re white, it’s about idiot people of all races taking the worst parts of a CULTURE and painting the whole race with that brush.

This b**** is suffering an identity crisis and its sad. She doesn’t know who she wants to be. First she was pop, then she desperately tried to be hardcore with the rock look but that flopped. So now she’s trying desperately hard to be accepted by urban audiences and its going to back fire. I knew her career was dead after Can’t Be Sold flopped harder than Bionic but now its officially dead.

      • Music June 13, 2013

She has more than Miley as the video I just posted proves. And how can you judge someone’s vocal capacity based off one performance were the focuse clearly wasn’t on vocals. Look up her acoustic charity concert and fall back.

        @Selenator
Excuse me but your comment is so ignorant, Latinos are not race, they can be White, Blacks, Asian, Arabs ect, ect…their language does not make them non White, are you kidding me.

Xtina – has European descent, she’s white, her skin color and features speak for itself.

J.Lo’s parents are Puerto Rican of Spanish descent, J.Lo could pass for a Mediterranean woman, the majority of Spanish people, Italians and Portuguese have Olive skin which is still White, of course they are other white people from Germany, Sweden ect, ect…but that doesn’t make people from the mediterranean less white than them, The White race is as versatile as the black race, lots of different tones from one who looks almost like an Albino from one who looks very tan.

Shakira is Latina with Arabic descent.

Ricky Martin is Puerto Rican and White.

Cristina Saralegui is Cuban and White.

Charity Goyco is Dominican and White.

Latinos are an ethnic group not a race.

I can’t believe there are people in AMERICA who doesn’t know this yet, i mean c’mon.

      • Selenator June 13, 2013

        @S******
What the actual f*** are talking about?
        1. I never called them Latina, and I know what the word means
        2. White refers is another word for Caucasian. It has nothing to do with skin color. Demi, Selena, Ariana, Christina A, and plenty of others look white but aren’t.
        3. Christina’s more is white but her father was Hispanic. She’s just as whit as she is Hispanic. She can be as pale as a ghost but that wouldn’t make her white.
        4. Many Spaniards look white but are not classified as apart of the “white race” you speak of.
        5. Shakira is Columbian

      • S****** Blonde June 13, 2013

        @Selenator
Many Spaniards look white but are not classified as apart of the “white race” you speak of.

Girl bye, so i guess, light skinned people like Beyonce and Rihanna are not considered blacks.

      • Selenator June 14, 2013

        @S******
Are you really this stupid or are you trolling? Refer back to #2 where I said skin color doesn’t dictate the race of a person. Rihanna and Beyonce aren’t black because their skin tone. They are black because of their parents are black. Selena can be the color of Kelly Rowland but it wouldn’t make her black since her parents are both Mexican Americans.

From what Im seeing is you clearly have no idea what black or white means. Black usually=African or African-American where as White usually=Caucasian. No f****** person from Spain would ever call themselves white or Caucasian. You are a f****** idiot and confused white man if you think so.

      • WTF June 14, 2013

u might not know many but those are spanish words. spain is in europe. full stop. that said, puerto ricans routinely switch between white and not white whenever it suits them. go fig.

    • Bey Fan June 13, 2013

It was her comment…. it was inappropriate because she stereotyped what “black” feels like.

  37. MILEY CYRUS STAN June 13, 2013

Mad because she is slaying all of your faves??? Selena who? Arianna Who?

    • Ariana’s Smile June 13, 2013

      Don’t play yourself hun.

    • Selenator June 13, 2013

Ermm Come & Get It and The Way are both ahead of We Can’t Have A Hit on Billboard. CAGI is sitting pretty at #5 on iTunes while Miley is flopping out of the top 10 already 🙁

  38. xedos June 13, 2013

You cannot blame her. She’s not from the street so whatever she knows or learn she learned it from
The white media who always write like they know about black culture. Hollywood life site always making up Rihanna and Chris stories.their so call source is supposed to be black.if you look how they write in ebonics its sickening

  39. Novocaine June 13, 2013

Nobody complained when Christina & J.lo were acting like they were black dont come for Miley shes just doing what others before her have done.

Its funny in the black community will praise someone like Miley for being urban yet call their own people sellouts when they get an education

    • Navy Sailor June 13, 2013

Bad examples boo! J Lo is a Puerto Rican from the Bronx, was a freaking fly girl on “In Living Color,” appeared in a Janet video, grew up on Spanish and R&B music….her FIRST music video got A LOT of play on BET so ummm yeah she had a liiiittle more credibility than Miley.

And Christina was heavily influenced by R&B and soul music…

Education does not equal sellout in the black community. A sell out is someone who gets a little bit of money/power and forgets where the f*** they came from, so I don’t wanna hear that.

      • BitchICan’tEvenSpellWelfare June 13, 2013

        @Navy Sailor, PREACH!!!

      • Selenator June 13, 2013

Not to mention Christina AGUILERA is half Hispanic. Not some country spoon fed white girl

    • MsThing485 June 13, 2013

When were you born, in 1998? Plenty of people did actually complain when Christina and JLo went through their “I wanna be black” phase. But I guess if you were only a toddler when “I’m Real” came out, you probably don’t remember that.

Miley’s doing this because her ‘Hannah Montana’ shtick is played out and she desperately needs a new image and gimmick to sell herself, which makes her a fake. If Miley had always been into black music, this wouldn’t be an issue…and she’d probably have more sense than to use the phrase “I want something that feels black.” But she wasn’t looking for something “black” when she croaked out that wack ass “Party In the U.S.A,” was she? She’s a phony. I know that being phony is par for the course in the music industry, but she should learn to camouflage it better.

  40. Daydreamin June 13, 2013

I think she’s trying to do what Xtina did with the Stripped era but when Christina did she seemed genuine and she made a great album. Miley just comes off fake and trashy. This comment disappoints me almost as much as the songwriters who wrote it.

  41. Lovatic June 13, 2013

Shes such a try to hard… Demi wanted to be like Rihanna on her current album but she even said it wouldn’t fit her she’d rather be herself than try to be someone else to be a successful musician.

  42. christinastherealtalent June 13, 2013

Miley dahling! I was feelin your new attitude up to this comment. Girl put your hands up to receive this…YOU ARE RETARDED.

  43. Lovatic June 13, 2013

Im glad Rihanna didnt take the song its basic tbh with generic urban slang like turnt up & bout that life which sounds corny as F*** coming from her.

    Diamonds>> We Can’t Stop

    • Navy Sailor June 13, 2013

I agree….that song is pure trash

  44. Cassie Lover June 13, 2013

She wants to make urban music what’s the big deal??? You people should be happy she putting that type of music back to the mainstream maybe your R&B flops can get shine now that miley is bringing r&b & urban music back Rihanna tried n failed.

    • Navy Sailor June 13, 2013

Excuse me? How exactly did rihanna fail? When did she try to bring R&B music back? You know what? *looks at your username* nvm!

      • Lolax June 13, 2013

Btch please Hannah montana soundtrack sold more than selina entire discography #floplenawho

      • Selenator June 13, 2013

Death @ you pulling out the Hannah Montanna receipts. Where were those fans when Can’t Be Sold was released? Didn’t the first single debut similarly to We Can’t Stop? It will probably have the same fate: early peak then quick fall off the charts. Its already falling down on iTunes. Unlike Miley, Selena’s singles have longevity. CAGI will enjoy a long time in the Top 10 and on the overall chart. Love You Like A Love Song almost lasted on Billboard for a year.

    • lolax June 13, 2013

we cant stop was #1 on itunes without any promotion or music video selina with all her promotion never reach the top 1 #floplena #still #flopping

      • Selenator June 14, 2013

Ariana went to #1 on iTunes longer than Miley and look where her song is compared to Selena’s. #1 on iTunes is irrelevant unless you can hold it. Like I said, WCS is falling down iTunes already while CAGI moved up. Longevity>> quick peaks. And please, CAGI was released early with the same amount of promo as WCS because it leaked. Keep trying with these excuses.

  51. Bey Fan June 13, 2013

What feels black??? Does she mean music like Beyonce or Rihanna…. or music like mary j or Anita baker…. perhaps she means music like prince or MJ….Ella and Bille???

Ohhh Miley…. I have no problem is she wants to do urban/hip hop/soul/jazz/blues music. But statements like that make you sound ignorant …. and anyone defending her statement is just as ignorant.

  52. Monstarebel June 13, 2013

I’ll still support her… not like she said something racist we all stereotype so i dont see what the big issue is as long as the music is good i really couldn’t give a f***.

    • IDK June 13, 2013

HA! thats all I can say when it comes to your comments.

  53. rih rox June 13, 2013

I don’t care for MC but give her a break She’s still young and broke off from her Disney ways and has found a new crowd and has probably said that due to her new found “happiness ” without giving it much thought.

  54. B****** are a mess June 13, 2013

What an ignorant little b****! No she’s not broke the girl is 120 million dollars rich! It’s never ok to make statements like that, Even people make them more than often…The only thing statements like that do is keep stereotypes alive so please don’t give that an OK, and a slap on the b***! I think she should have educated herself more than the average people, Just because she has a higher platform, and is a public figure! WTF is black music though? When people say stuff like that it just restricts people from enjoying the music they love, it shouldn’t have a color on it, it should just be about the music! I hate generalizations like that!

  55. B****** are a mess June 13, 2013

I use to like her, but yeah you know the rest! So this h** twerks, and think IT’S A BLACK THING? huh…No silly b**** it’s a ratchet thing, and ratchet knows no such thing as color! I’m utterly disgusted by this h**………* Throws rob at her, and points to a tree*

    • B****** are a mess June 13, 2013

      **ROPE

  56. I AM ABOVE U June 13, 2013

This is a time when my name is more than strong enough for simple b****** like this h**! Being black does not equate being ratchet, Ghetto, or ignorant as Miley seems to think! When some black folks choose to make rachet gutter ignorant music it’s because they are ignorant themselves, and embrace that life, Not because THEY ARE BLACK! A few blacks don’t speak for the entire black community which is why her statement is even more ignorant! When Pink did ” There you go” she wasn’t making BLACK MUSIC, she was making URBAN MUSIC! When Enimenm became a big time rapper he wasn’t making BLACK MUSIC, he was making URBAN MUSIC! Not every black listens to HIP HOP, or R&B, and to think other wise simply takes away from the individualism, and groups a race as a collective bunch, Which black have fought so hard to be judged off of merits not skin color! MILEY YOU ARE AN IGNORANT C***! Grow up!

    • POP ROYALTY (Bohemian Grove) June 13, 2013

“black” in the entertainment industry is everything associated with the lyrics of her single.

so Black = Big butts ? in the club ? doing drugs and getting dumb ? being uneducated and “Bout that life” ?

to the entertainment industry : YES.

this is the new stereotype in process.

Sad but true , again, black people are the ones to blame , you let them play you that way, now it became cool/trendy to do anything that “feels black” .
Usually i don’t talk “racism” , but it is obvious you guys , it is like watching a “punk’d” episode.

  57. shakes head June 13, 2013

i see the raw tought. ‘black’ = ‘badass’. enough said.

why think racist? who’s fault. you suck at this. -_-

  58. I AM ABOVE U June 13, 2013

You are a c***! IF she called you a n**** i bet you would even purchase the deluxe version of her album…SMH Stand for something you simpleton!

    • Monstarebel June 13, 2013

LMAO no i wouldn’t… Its not that big of a deal if she said something racist id definitely have a problem with it but she didn’t suck it up & move on b**** xoxo

        lmao!

    • Music June 13, 2013

Right?? I don’t rly give two shits if miley wanna act black. She aint hurting nobody. I’d still prefer her than Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift. They hav outstayed their welcome. Miley and Demi>>Selena and Tay.
      Real Talk.

    • Selenator June 13, 2013

Lol Billboard disagrees. Selena and Taylor slay them both

  61. xtinalotus June 13, 2013

Lol Mikey is hilarious and y’all black people on this sight commenting feeling hurt by she wants something more black taking it out of context and reaching like she’s disrespecting y’all. Come on you guys do it to yourselves. Like somebody mentioned look at bet enough said..black people do it to themselves and rappers do it to their own people.

    • Jazzy115 June 14, 2013

Yeah because black rappers and people on tv represent every black person in America. Black people are like clones and what one does, we all do right? 1% of population of black people in hollywood speak for/represent all of us right? Last time I checked BET was own by white people. Just because a few black celebrities approve of this s*** don’t mean we all do and I can’t stop the 1% of people that do. So If my individual self is offended I have every right to be. How is her saying she wants to do some black, urban, hood songs taken out of context? Please enlighten me? Because all you’ve done so far is generalize an entire race of people based off of the media.

    • WTF June 15, 2013

the people u see on BET (not bet) are makijg personal choices. they are not doing anything to me personally. dumb stoopid other than blacks are the ones taking things out of context and getting the cow by the ass. yet u always seem to think whatever u want to do or say towards the “black community” is fair game. we cant call u on ur idiot mind spew because that would make spoil sports? who gives a frazier crane what u think? clearly u dont even have the depth to see why this is offensive. its not a figment of my imagination. ur a dumb a***,and so i miley kangaroo. get all the way the @$%* out of here! WTF.

  62. MISS REAL June 13, 2013

If she flops with this release, watch her drop the “black” quicker than she can say “urban”. What kind of tacky, trashy b****. SMDH.

  63. Jlover June 13, 2013

She wants to be like Rihanna duh!

    • F*** Your Swag, I’m Dope. June 13, 2013

Fine. Somebody beat Miley upside the head the way Rihanna got beat by Chris.

  64. Music June 13, 2013

Fake thug persona?? Hmm, that sounds familiar. I really don’t want to see any Rihanna fans talking about that when the woman literally has a new image every year. Miley aint the only one with an identity crisis. Chile…ch

    • Jlover June 13, 2013

all Rihanna does is change her image her personality has always been the same she’s just more bad ass now

    • Navy Sailor June 13, 2013

  67. KELLY June 13, 2013

TBH Rihanna bad girl image is more fake than Miley’s.

Miley was ALWAYS rebellious even as a Disney Star, she was never like the other clean cut Disney Stars such as Selena, Hilary and Demi (except her rehab stint). She was always getting into trouble and acting like a real teenager. So this natural progression for her.

Miley was caught smoking bong while she still had a disney contract for godssakes.

  75. PR TEAM June 13, 2013

People are on here complaining. But for what? Cause Miley wanted to TWERT at a juicy j concert, or is it because she is white and she wants to do more urban music.

Miley Cyrus is a sweet person believe me. Miley is not racist, commenters on here are blowing things up. You guys love to point fingers at a innocent little suburban white girl who is just trying to live her life.

Hiphop is not just a black thing, everybody can rap Asians, Spanish, Latinos, you guys think you own that? Well.. You got another thing coming. cause white people are the main ones buying rap music. So please have a seat!

Leave Miley alone! She ain’t here to hurt anybody. You guys just need to chill

Aint none of u my pals,so i dont feel any pressure to conform to anybodies liptrip. as a first generation hip hop(er) i have to give yet another junior high reverse psychologist the gas face. hip hop is in fact black music (as is most musics created in america) the fact that rich capitalist come into everything we make simply to entertain ourselves and ruin it for the very people who was given a voice by it cannot be simply trivialized.i aint having that shyt. the profit motive and the clueless middle americans (i am being pc….on purpose) who bandwagon everything we do in order to be “cool” can in fact eat a c@#k. i think its high time a few ruggedly built individuals call it how it is. white hangers on ruin every culture they have stolen with their suburban bank accounts. do not presume to dictate to people who invent the culture what is what. im well aware who buys records.but the real for real was never about record sales. its about staying credible with ur core,ur base. grimey street wise no BS taken afro americans and their latin counterparts are the core audience of true hiphop. f*** what u heard. and if u can concur with real talk,f*** what u think as well. stop playing.

Who said the girl was RACIST ?!?!?!? SMH Yal, going too far now. ITs a big difference between not liking a comment and calling her racist. Some of yal on here wasnt even looking her way until she changed her appearance and put this song out so stfu.

  83. Common Sense June 13, 2013

LMAO! You can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can’t take the trailer park out of the girl. Bless that girl Milers.

  84. Touché June 13, 2013

I see some very good points in the comment section except to the people accusing others of “crying out racism”. Let me just say that no one really cares if she wants to more “urban” sounding music like Hip hop, R&B (etc.). The problem is that she basically referred to it as “black music”. No one is saying that she is a racist but they are saying that she is ignorant for the comment which is true.

    • XtinasHeart June 13, 2013

So Is r&b & hip hop not black people music?

      • Touché June 13, 2013

No it’s not. How can those genres be “black music” if :
        1) Other races make music in the genre
        2) Other races listen to it
        3) Black people produce music in other genres of music like Pop
        4) If not all black people listen to.
You need to realize that “black” is a general word therefore to describe music as “black” in this sense is completely inaccurate.

      • Rach June 13, 2013

@Touche But I think people describe it that way because of its association and origins. Especially R&B aka ‘Rhythm & Blues’, The Blues being song sung by slaves. And then turned into R&B by African Americans. So in a sense yes it is black music technically as it originated from them but in the present day there are no restrictions or boundaries to the type of music any race makes.

      • Touché June 13, 2013

@Rach, Wrong, doesn’t matter if it was created by black people. It is NOT called “black music”. To say a particular genre is “black or even white (etc.)” music is to imply that it is only made by black or white people (etc.) and that they are the only group who listens to it. Terms like Black are too broad to describe such a subject which is why it’s false.

      • Rach June 13, 2013

But when people say that, I’m sure majority of them know that it is not only black people that listen to, make or produce that music. In Western Society you cant avoid R&B/Hip-Hop music so I’m sure most know this. They say it based on association. Years back, it was only black people that made R&B music, the fact they created it does matter because its the reason its associated with the culture. Its like saying Pizza is Italian food. Which it is, but not only Italian people make it and eat it (that was the best example I could think of off the top of my head lol)

      • Touché June 13, 2013

@Rach, “But when people say that, I’m sure majority of them know that it is not only black people that listen to, make or produce that music”?
I don’t care if even Jesus Christ himself knows that it’s not only black people who listen to it. It’s politically incorrect and that’s it. You can try and justify it all you want with your personal opinion but “black” is too general of a term to use for a label such as that. Black doesn’t just refer to African Americans. It refers to Black South Americans, Europeans, Asians, Africans (etc.); which is essentially why the title “black music” can not be correct whatsoever.

“Years back, it was only black people that made R&B music”? And how exactly do you know that for certain? You have no idea what independent/ underground music artists of all races have done so you can’t blatantly say that.

“the fact they created it does matter because its the reason its associated with the culture”?
And? Just because it’s associated with our culture does not mean that it needs to be incorrectly labeled. If it’s R&B than it’s called R&B, if it’s Hip hop than it’s called Hip hop, if it’s Blues than it’s called Blues, if it’s Funk than it’s called Funk (etc.).

Now like I said before, you can try to justify it with your opinion all you want to but the fact still remains that it’s politically incorrect and there’s nothing more to it.

      • Rach June 13, 2013

@Touche I never said it was right though I actually agree with your original point I’m just looking at it from a different standpoint the way many people see it general whether its right or not. And as a black person myself I don’t get offended. R&B music is associated with black people for a reason and its not a bad thing. A politically perfect way of seeing/saying everything is unrealistic. People don’t look into that much depth. And when people say ‘R&B’ is a black genre I understand why. There’s no need to get defensive we are on the same page but in this world nothings ever going to be perfect, its about looking at the bigger picture. There are worse things being a said.

      • Touché June 13, 2013

“I never said it was right though I actually agree with your original point I’m just looking at it from a different standpoint the way many people see it general whether its right or not”?
And that’s the problem with society, there are too many generalizations going around like nobody’s business.

“R&B music is associated with black people for a reason and its not a bad thing”? No, it’s only associated with us African Americans and you are right it’s not a bad thing but it is a bad thing when people say it’s “black people music”.

“A politically perfect way of seeing/saying everything is unrealistic” I never said nor implied that it was perfect but in this case, what I stated to you was the truth which too many people don’t know which is why there is a problem.

“People don’t look into that much depth.
        That’s for sure.

“And when people say ‘R&B’ is a black genre I understand why. There’s no need to get defensive we are on the same page but in this world nothings ever going to be perfect, its about looking at the bigger picture. There are worse things being a said.”

I am not getting defensive in any way, I am simply correcting people who knowingly spread their ignorance for their own personal agenda. Also, I am addressing this issue because just like so many others issues, without confrontation there will never be a solution. It will just be ignored which will do nothing for society.

      • Rach June 13, 2013

‘I am simply correcting people who knowingly spread their ignorance for their own personal agenda. Also, I am addressing this issue because just like so many others issues, without confrontation there will never be a solution’

Ok but I don’t see what’s bad about certain genres of music (Jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop etc) being celebrated as just ‘black’ music anyway (not what Miley said). Its something black people have to their name (metaphorically speaking) I see it as more of a good generalization than bad. Like I said before, there are much worse things being said/ much worse generalizations being made.

      • Touché June 13, 2013

@ Rach, I respect your opinion. I say we agree to disagree.

      • Rach June 13, 2013

    • F*** Your Swag, I’m Dope. June 13, 2013

Um…R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz, Gospel IS “black music.” There’s nothing wrong or incorrect with acknowledging that. Stop trying to play dumb and be forcibly PC. It was only 20 years ago that the R&B/Hip Songs chart on Billboard was called THE BLACK SINGLES chart. To deny that certain types of music has roots in, and is heavily representative of, a specific cultures/ethnicities/demographics of people is foolish and ignorant.

Furthermore, June is nationally recognized as “Black Music Month.” Google it and see what comes up.

      • Touché June 13, 2013

You are just full of Ignorance like most of the idiots on this post. What part of “Black is a general term” does your illiterate self not understand? You can NOT label music with a broad term that refers to people of African decent in all parts of the world. It was “African Americans” who created that music not other black people from around the world so your point remains invalid.

if you go on black blogs youll se what I’m talking about….we are quick to call racism, we are quick to say black needs to support our own people..

and yet in the same breath bash ciara, bash keri hilson, bash rihanna, chris brown, and so on….kelly, monica, brandy…and mariah..yes she’s black

its one thing if you don’t like somebody’s music, but to call them ugly, fat, saying that ciara looks like a man, rihanna is a w****…

like I said the worst hypocrites

    • Rach June 13, 2013

You forgot Beyoncé one of the main ones. Would it kill you to put her name in?

      • ratedxxx(my favs stays on)) June 13, 2013

put beyonce where? oh you mean that I should include her in the people who gets bashed?

there’s a reason why her name wasnt included on my lists..because her stans are the main ones to bash all those people I put down…..bash keri hilson 24/7 because made a song, she never name names though, but you stans stay on her twitter, facebook, ect…calling her all types of name, wishing death on her….

what bashing does beyonce get? saying shes a fraud, that she steals other people s***, that her whole career is based of swagger jacking other folks….thats not bashing when we have the receipts to prove it.

      • Rach June 13, 2013

But you are talking about ‘black people’ in general being judgemental not individual stan bases. Firstly Beyoncé, is not responsible for her stans actions and secondly you are talking about being judgemental when you are doing exactly the same thing by putting everyone in the same box. What bashing does Beyoncé get? Um let me think of most recent people going IN on her childs hair and how she dresses her child, and just what she does with her child point blank perios. Just about everything Beyoncé does gets over analysed and judged and not just in her career sweety from her personal life to her looks don’t play dumb like that. That’s like me saying what bashing does Rihanna get? Being called lazy, a druggie, not having sufficient ability on stage, slutty? Well I have receipts to prove that too. You just sound incredibly biased what goes for one, should apply to the other.

      • ratedxxx(my favs stays on)) June 13, 2013

@Rach…….yes I partly blame beyonce for her dumb stans , she called her self king..she made a songs about basic b****** to bow down to her…..she told to beehive to go after the wasps..

she gives her stans alot of ammo to go attack other stan base….calling people wasps come on

of course everything beyonce does in her life is going to get judge, why because she tries to portray this, I’m better than everybody else, I write all my songs, make all my decision..so when people catch her in a lie..of course they are going to tear her ass apart….

you stans and beyonce need to start taking responsibility for her actions…maybe if she didnt try to portray herself as this miss perfect..nobody would give to f*** about her ass..

and the majority of the attacks she gets has to do with her lies..lets keep it real..

yes I have notice her daughter gets make fun of…I don’t agree with it.. …

      • Rach June 14, 2013

So then when other stans wish death on a baby and go in on Ciara it doesn’t compare? Tha ts ridiculous they are individuals NOT all stans are the same. I am a Beyoncé stan and couldn’t give two f**** about Keri s don’t be JUDGEMENTAL.. Your dislike for Beyoncé is whats getting the way Im sorry. I don’t see you saying the same for Gaga and her Little Monsters when they attacked Kelly Osborne. ALL Stans have delusional out of control people. And I dont hold the stars responsible. And obviously I know everything Beyoncé does is there to be judged, just like all the other people you listed. And many of the things Rihanna gets bashed for is bought on herself. You are contradicting yourself. The fact remains Beyonce also gets BASHED just as much if not more than all of them in general. I don’t see Beyoncé a someone who thinks she better than everyone just because she metaphorically makes ego songs and uses the word ‘king’. Its all part of her stage persona. You NVER hear anyone who has ever encountered her say she is stuck up or thinks she better than anyone. In fact they say shes the opposite. People take music and acts too literally that’s all it is. You just don’t like Beyoncé (which of course is allowed) but its making you biased to whats real. What goes for one, applies to the other. Like I said before.

You and your ignorance can have several seats.

You are just full of s***. “did you see me say every black person on the planet are judgmental and can be hypocrites….NO…?”?

In your own ignorant words “It is true, black are more judgmental to our own race than other races, and sometimes the worst hypocrites…” “Blacks” is a BROAD term you dumbfuck. You can’t say that you were referring to some of them when you use terms like that and especially when you didn’t even use any other word to indicate that you were stating or implying that “some” of them do that.

“and of course I haven’t met every black people on the planet…how dumb are you to even make that statement”? No duh, I just said you haven’t met every black person on the planet you stupid b****. Why don’t you learn how to read before “attempting” to cleverly respond back.

“if you could comprehend words , you would see I said if you go on black blogs, never said every black blogs”?

And if you could comprehend the English language (Which obviously you can’t), than you would have realized that you gave no clear indication with the words of your statement that it was referring to only “some”.

“you need personal help obviously, jumping on somebody’s d*** for their opinions, that can be proven….my statements are based on facts…facts that blacks are very judgemental to other blacks..never said every black person feels that way”?

Honey, this is a COMMENT SECTION.Therefore I can respond to whoever I please including your stupid self. Your statements are based on the “facts” that come out of your ass lol? No wonder. You have no idea if it’s even “blacks” commenting on those “black blogs” because it’s either anonymous or because it’s the f****** INTERNET (which you clearly don’t understand), people can lie about their identity you idiot.

“you just proved that blacks are so quick to attack other blacks..you called me ignorant, for making a true statement..instead of taking your time to comprehend my statement or even do research”?

And how do you know that I am black? Have you met me in person? Oh that’s right you haven’t, I could be a f****** Asian for all you know. The only thing you proved is your ignorance which a lot of people on this website reveal every single day.

Providing you with insight on the real world is not taking it personally. Also you’re right , these are “your opinions”; so there was no reason for why you had called them “facts” in your previous comment you hypocrite.

“you can’t even have a normal conversation without the name calling….proving to white people that black are f****** ghetto as hell..”

Idiot, had you read some of my previous comments to other people on this post, you would have seen that I didn’t curse or “name call”. You do realize that some white people as well as some people of other races also curse so I guess that makes them “ghetto” too by your retarded logic. Besides, “Name calling” or “Cursing” is not even synonymous with “Ghetto”, please educate yourself.

“I couldnt give two f**** if you were white black asian…but you are giving black people bad names by the name calling…”?

Can you really be this stupid? I do not represent anyone but myself just like everyone else does to themselves. I do not have an obligation or responsibility for anyone but myself just like everyone else does to themselves; so I can’t give “black people a bad name” lol. You definitely are a mentally disturbed human being.

“the ironic thing is…thats why I cant stop laughing…..you trying to prove that not all black people are judgmental and hypocrites, and yet you called me how many names?”?

Honey, do you even realize that you just described yourself? Your own illogical and generalizing comments about “black people” are also hypocritical and judgmental so why would you stupidly point that out in my comments as a defense? I mean how can a person not realize when they contradict themselves lol.

“lets see..you proved that blacks are ghetto, judgmental and.. hypocrites”?

According to the English dictionary, “Ghetto” isn’t even a adjective you r*****. It’s a noun that describes a place. Please go back to school because you are deeply embarrassing yourself. Lastly, once again myself as single person does not represent a whole group, it’s clear your ignorance will take you nowhere in life. I suggest you personally learn how to actually think and research properly because parroting false information will do nothing for you.

I posted this on another website.

I’ll give Miley a pass because the girl is young and is still trying to find herself. Keep in mind that Miley was part of a Disney Corp marketing machine that obviously tried to make her out as Miss PERFECT because, well, she was a big CASH COW.

The Hannah Montana franchise (TV show, movies, music, tours, merchandise) was HUGE and I doubt Disney Corp wanted anything to tarnish the PERFECT Hannah Montana image.

That said, I (like many other people) did not know who Miley really was outside the marketing dollars at Disney Corp, she might have been all hood to begin with or maybe feels more comfortable taking this route. She is young, free of the Disney faux and can finally determine herself as an artist musically and image wise. Maybe this is who she is, or who she wants to become, to early to tell.

like I stated who cares that miley wants to make black music…if thats what she calls it, oh well..there are way more important things out there to care about….

like I said where’s the racism when a black person tries to be white by lighting their skin tone, wearing blond wigs…putting contact lenses in their eyes so on..

did she call anybody the N word, did she burn any black babies..did she wear a kkk outfit..did she say black people are stupid..come on now

      _______

Are you somebody of the Black race? If so, what ethnicity are you? African-American? A Black Caribbean/West-Indian of African descent? A Native Black African from a country within the continent of Africa?

Do you even know what racism means?

By all means, @RatedXXX, I understand what you’re saying completely but a part of you must be feeling some sort of sensitivity to this topic?

If a Black (African-American) person, such as, Ravwn Symone for instance were to say “I want something that feels White? I want to do Folk music”, there would have just as big as an uproar from both Black AND White people alike, and that is the issue here.

But you’re correct to an extent – if we (as a Race) are going to harbour on ignorant ‘racial generalizations’ such as these, we won’t get anywhere.

      SMH.

I’m sorry, but she is just SO embarrassing! I honestly cringe when I see new photos of her.

      Mileys the truth tho

  97. yew June 13, 2013

I really don’t think it’s a big problem with what she said. There has been way worse said about blacks.
I respect others opinions and they are indeed entitled to them, however we make it easy for whites or other races to make generalized statements when it comes to our culture.
Turn on the radio right now and go to an urban station, if it isn’t a bunch of rap music spewing the usual: big booty,S**,Popping mollies or other drugs or terrible singers with no substance behind the lyrics WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU EXPECT!
Blacks make Jazz,Pop,Fusion Jazz,Gospel,Christian, etc you wouldn’t know it today by what is considered music these days. This has got to be the worse era of MUSIC IN THE HISTORY OF MUSIC.

Dont be mad at Miley shes didnt mean it like that yall

  99. Loyalty June 14, 2013

Yeah whatever its not PC but people are overreacting. I’m sure most of you know exactly what she meant though that’s the kiii of it all. There are much more pressing issues going on regarding race and generalizations that people should channel their agitation into. This is not it. But Miley is really just embarrassing herself at the moment. I just cant with her antics.

Miley never said that!! if you listen to the REAL interview rather than believing someone whose job it is write negatively about people who just want to make music then you’ll see that YOU are all the ignorant ones. Miley did say she wants to make urban music, but she never said “black”. its quite rude to twist peoples words around…. Obviously you have nothing better to do with your time so you bash other people. This is literally the dumbest article I’ve ever read lol

What some of you people are failing to realize, if you read anything and people have commented on it, the song was originally meant for r**** and not miley.

  102. si June 15, 2013

i love u guys but i dont agree with this article. planet iv is not the duo behind the We Cant Stop song. Mike Will Made it was not made with Miley in mind, therefore when she said ” i want something black” this song wasnt the product. The song is a hit, and so her, being smart, decided to record it. If youre going to use these words against her, you need to first, examine the product of the planet iv duo’s work on mileys album , and see if it is stereotypical or not.

Personally I think that Miley Cyrus should start f****** as much big black c*** as she can and be really slutty about it too. I think she’s look really f****** horny with her p**** all bare and a thick black c*** stretching her out. My hope would be that all her young female fans would follow suit and start spreading their legs for as many big black c**** as possible. There isn’t anything that feels as good as sinking into a white girls p**** that’s been well broken in for big black c****. All you girls out there, shave those hot little slits and go find yourself a different big black c*** every night for the next month. Miley Cyrus is telling you too.
