New Video: Alicia Keys – ‘Tears Always Win’

Published: Thursday 13th Jun 2013 by Rashad

Is the 5th time the charm?  14 time Grammy winner Alicia Keys is probably hoping so with ‘Tears Always Win’ –  the official fifth single lifted from her fifth LP ‘Girl On Fire’.

Taking time from her hotly selling ‘Set the World On Fire’ tour, Keys unveils a Vegas themed visual to accompany the ballad.  But, while the Bruno Mars co-penned tune has long been a critic and fan favorite, its seen a very slow start on charts – making its first impact this month.

Now that it has a Robert Hales-directed video in tow, will that be enough to help the number win on the Hot 100? You tell us below:

Alicia Keys has said she is proud of Rihanna and the way she has dealt with life in the spotlight. She said:

“It’s such a tricky, crazy business, and when people are a little bit younger than me, I’m always hoping that their soul is good because it can be such a soulless space… I’m proud of Rihanna. Because it’s not easy to stand up in this crazy world and make it and keep going and try new things. And find your way through it.”

This video makes me love the song even more. Nothing fancy just a down to earth video and Alicia playing the part just makes the story seem even better. She looks amazing, especially in the last scene playing the piano and singing. This is one of her best videos, but I’m still hanging in there for “Listen to Your Heart”.

How is it that RCA has given this weak album 5 SINGLES when Brandy’s Two Eleven is brilliant and hasn’t even seen a 3rd single.

This is Alicia’s lowest selling album to date and none of her singles have been legitimate hits.

    • octobersown June 14, 2013

You said “none of her singles have been legitimate hits” GOF the single peaked #12 on Billboard Hot 100 and has sold 3 million ww digitally. Is that not legitimate?

      • LOL June 14, 2013

This fool! Has no idea what he/she is speaking. No Legitimate HITS!

      • LOL June 14, 2013

Girl On Fire was an international hit for Keys, reaching number one in Austria, South Korea, and Slovakia, the Top 5 in the Netherlands, Brazil, Israel, Denmark, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, France, and the United Kingdom, and a Top 20 hit in the USA, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, Italy, Finland, Hungary, and Spain.

        Brandy could NEVER!

Girl On Fire single has been certification’s in 11 countries

      • LOL June 14, 2013

Also it peaked at #11 on Hot 100.

      • Bitchchangeurweave June 16, 2013

        At 11 on BB H 1000 plz

      • Bitchchangeurweave June 16, 2013

        11*

    • Anita June 14, 2013

Guess it’s not as weak as you thought it was. All of the songs on Alicia’s album could be hits, so to speak. They are all great and if none of them were to reach the top spot it wouldn’t matter because Alicia is established with a fan base who love her and her music. I love every song on the album and there is no one like Alicia. Brandy? Maybe a song or two but no, not even comparable to Alicia. Btw, Alicia’s album, so far is platinum in U.S., and gold in several other countries. She does have legitimate “hits”.

    • IM A FREE B*TCH June 15, 2013

it might be Alicia’s lowest selling album but considering the state of music sales and the state of R&B, the album did very well honestly. and lets not forget, GOF (the single) as sold as many copies as Rihanna’s Diamonds. Two Elevne is brilliant and so is Girl On Fire, but all things considered, Girl On Fire is a more commercially successful album than Two Eleven
