Poll Star have released their official Mid Year Top 100 Worldwide Tours tally today, listing the year’s highest generating tours according to how much capital they’ve pulled in since January 1st to June 30th of this year.
Featuring appearances by Lady GaGa, Rihanna, Pink, Justin Bieber and Beyonce, the tally you’ll see below is all too telling of the fact that a ‘bigger venue’ is not always necessarily a ‘better venue’.
Facts and figures below…
Major kudos to Pink, Taylor Swift and Bieber- three acts who continue to prove that ‘mega selling’ acts are anything but a thing of the 90s…enjoying major sales on the Billboard 200 and on a touring front.
However, as is plain to see, Beyonce stands as the true star of this list- outperforming 93 other acts on a tour that came without the benefit of new material or a lengthy roll out.
‘Mrs.Carter‘s momentum, as her fans will agree, lay in the general public’s trust in her as a reliable and phenomenal live act. A trust, that saw her generate more cash in arenas than Rihanna did in stadiums.
Of course, while ego would say stadiums are what all acts should aim to fill, the bottom line is that tours are launched to support an act’s music, their brand but more importantly….their pockets.
Pockets, that will no doubt be reached into to fund the campaign for Beyonce‘s fifth studio album, void of the ’360 chains’ that will see Rihanna hand the bulk of her cash back to the ship that upholds her cause….ironically steered by Beyonce‘s husband Jay Z.
You see where we’re going with this.
With the entire world waiting on album #5, here’s hoping the writers and producers employed to create it craft material worthy of the big budget campaign set to support.
For, as humble as she may be, Beyonce is also deeply competitive and will no doubt have a few commercial scores to settle come its release.
