New Song: Joss Stone – ‘The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind)’

Published: Monday 12th Aug 2013 by David

As Emeli Sande and Adele continue to fly the flag for Brit-Pop in the USA, their predecessor Joss Stone took fresh aim at the market with her independently released ‘The Soul Sessions Vol.2‘.

Welcoming modest numbers upon release, the project saw her cover a number of soul classics released between the 60s and 80s, one of which being The Dells’ 1971 release ‘The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind)’.

Needless to say, the release of its video marks very good news for fans of the contralto, who- at least in our opinion- is only the right deal away from reclaiming her seat at Adult Contemporary’s winning table.

Watch below!

Phenomenal.

Here’s hoping that after enjoying the freedom being independent brings, Joss isn’t anti- major. For, after watching and falling in love with the above, we’d say it’d be a criminal for her not to push for more backing.

Put simply, she’s far too gifted and talented to have her cause forgotten even more than it already has, overshadowed by the likes of Winehouse, Adele and if RCA have their way… Paloma Faith.

    Who’s Paloma Faith?

    • QueenCeline August 12, 2013

Omg! She’s brilliant, the only thing is that she never popped off because she came out around the same time as Amy and dressed too much like Gaga so the press wrote her off.

They don’t play her stuff that much in Toronto but I found out about her online by mistake one day.

She came out way before Amy (america wise) and she NEVER dress like no damn Gaga.

  4. Well… August 12, 2013

I love it. Been playing the album since I got it last year and it’s still one of my favourites in the 2010s decade so far. And yes, very underrated.

    • Well… August 12, 2013

      And let’s not forget, she’s still only 26 after a decade-long career.

  5. Shauwndapooh August 12, 2013

Why is she not bigger the girl can sang

    • Stans Make Me LOL August 12, 2013

She doesn’t flash her fanny or sing EDM so the kids don’t want to know.
Their loss, this girl s beyond talented

  6. Rihyolty August 12, 2013

I can’t see her wanting to sign a new record deal 2bh. I think she’s happy where she is which is sad because the only big voiced girls we have around are the r&b girls but let’s face it, nobody cares about them.

  7. What Will The Neighbours Say August 12, 2013

People think Jessie J is original.

    • MarinasDiamonds August 12, 2013

Not a GA fan trying to talk about originality though.

      • What Will The Neighbours Say August 12, 2013

What’s your point? GA were very original and had more impact with SOTU than Marina has had in her entire career so just stop.

      • MarinasDiamonds August 12, 2013

You’re delusion is so authentic. You’re just as delusional as Rosie if you think GA had more impact than Marina is having. Did they even have have one critical hit like PD. No they did not, so YOU stop.

      • What Will The Neighbours Say August 12, 2013

Oh my, are you being serious now right bbz.
Life Got Cold wasn’t a critical hit?
Can’t Speak French wasn’t a critical hit? Marina isn’t even on Nadine’s league, let alone Cheryl’s, let alone GA’s. Marina is like Rihanna and GA is like Beyonce 2bfair.
