Chart Check: Pink’s ‘ The Truth About Love’ Surpasses 5 Million Mark

Published: Thursday 31st Oct 2013 by David

‘A silent storm’.

Whichever way you look at it, the best would be the most accurate way to describe ‘Family Portrait’ entertainer Pink, and her ‘habit’ of moving major numbers without the media frenzy acts who hope to move those numbers often whip up for themselves.

For, while many a ‘stan’ finds themselves focusing on the Katy Perry vs Lady GaGa chart war that now ensues, the general public has pushed sales of Pink‘s new album ‘The Truth About Love’ to heights many are simply unaware of.

Full story below…

One year after the LP’s September 4th release, ‘Love‘ has now surpassed worldwide sales of 5 million units. To be precise, its current sales figure sits at the 5,045,000 mark, with 2 million of those sales shifted in the US and over 600,000 of them moved in the United Kingdom alone.

As if that wasn’t enough, her continued success in Australia has seen the album move over 560,000 copies- seeing it certified Platinum eight times in the last twelve months, while she extends her lead as one of Pop’s truly ‘global’ performers thanks to the good people of South Africa.

This, being a nation that’s picked up over 40,000 copies of the album, helping reach its coveted position!

Well done Alecia!

  2. drina October 31, 2013

this b**** constantly outsells beyonce and rihanna without taking her clothes off!! YOU GO BOY!!

    • Lovebird (Britney Jean – 03.12.13) October 31, 2013

Are you sure she doesn’t take her clothes off?

    • Mother monster October 31, 2013

      Who doesn’t outsell those two.

      • Lovebird (Britney Jean – 03.12.13) October 31, 2013

        How is Venus doing sis?

    • ROSEGOLD October 31, 2013

She does not CONSTANTLY outsell them. This is her best selling album since when?????

Good for her, although most of her music sounds the same!!!

      • E=MC2 October 31, 2013

this is here best selling album since the last one. What the f*** are you talking about? You pice of s***, she allways sells good with albums. F*** off

      • XYZ October 31, 2013

what are you talking about? I’m not dead – 6 mill; funhouse equally sucessfull…her only not that good selling record is try this….

        better check the facts

  3. Molly October 31, 2013

She makes the same songs over and over. Her music is very basic.

    • drina October 31, 2013

      is ciara at 175k yet???

  4. Lovebird (Britney Jean – 03.12.13) October 31, 2013

*grabs popcorn and waits for band wagoners*

Congrats to Pink. What Pink does on stage is art, its magnificent. I just wish Pink could actually sing and had good songs.

I don’t like her voice, her music sounds the same but on the stage is she perfection.

    • XYZ October 31, 2013

maybe you don’t like her voice, that’s your opinion. but you can’t say that pink can’t sing…that’s simply not the truth

  5. Marley October 31, 2013

Sales are great but she makes absolutley no impact with it. You can shade Beyonce and Rihanna but they have made wayyyy more impact than her with everything! When do you ever hear anyone cite Pink? Will she be remembered and tributed like they will? Doubt it. Shes an amazing performing and successful but dont shade others to bring her up.

    • Biting Truth October 31, 2013

That makes no sense. She made enough of an impact to compel millions of people to buy her music. You 90s born ADHD brats think that “impact” is having twitter feuds and tabloid stories reported on blogs. In 20 years Pink will be considered a icon/legend w/o having had to resort to all that stupid nonsense that Rihanna pulls for attention.

      • Marley October 31, 2013

No actually I dont. Pink will NOT be remembered the same way Beyonce and Rihanna will be. Has nothing to do with feuds. What Twitter feud does Beyonce have? Who quotes Pink? She is forgettable even NOW whats it going to be like in 10 years? Beyonce and Rihanna will be icons like it ot not, Pink wont. Wait and see. Sales =/= Long term impact on Pop CULTURE. Deal.

      • Marley October 31, 2013

And actually, you’re shading my ‘supposed’ age yet Im the one who remembers when Pink used to do controversial s*** for attention in the early 2000s. Come correct please.

  6. KANYE KARDASHIAN October 31, 2013

#Virgo divas do it best and stay winning…Pink, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Tyler Perry

    • GoldenBoy J November 1, 2013

      Yessssssssss! Virgo Power!!!

  7. Navy Nick October 31, 2013

I agree with Marley here., I have always liked PINK, but yeah…

  8. ROSEGOLD October 31, 2013

Lol people love to mention Pink when shading Beyonce. This is Pink’s best selling album since…when? Someone please remind me. I have seen no musical growth since Missundazstood in 2001. Everything sounds exactly alike. I honestly cannot remember any of her music past 2003. I can barely remember her recent singles. Beyonce is a consistent album seller. DIL-9 million, BD-6 million, IASF-8 million, 4-2.8 million. Even Rihanna is more consistent and memorable. Can Pink say the same? I think not!

    • XYZ October 31, 2013

      yes, she can say that…

      I’m not dead – 6 million
funhouse – equally sucessfull, don’t know the exact number
      truth about love – 5 million…

her last 3 records sold consistently…her only “flop” was try this…

  9. Rosie October 31, 2013

Congrats to her but she needs to stop recycling the same s*** every era. How many times can you do the same little acrobatic routine? How many times can you release the same songs in the same exact order every era? But I guess if it works then get money, b****.

  10. Xtina stan October 31, 2013

    Slay Pink Slay!!!

  11. grump October 31, 2013

Bu you won’t report that TEOM passed the 6 Million Mark in the US. Why so bias towards Mariah?

    • Beyanca October 31, 2013

      That was reported weeks ago….

  12. JOHNVIDAL October 31, 2013

I agree with the people saying she can sing and is a great performer… but overall her music sounds kind of basic and repetitive. I´m not into her at all. Congrats though. She works and she deserves success. She won´t be that remembered in the future, just that.

    • #BEYINDEPENDENT October 31, 2013

      Same thing goes for GaGa.

      • JOHNVIDAL October 31, 2013

Not at all. In fact if Gaga is not appealing to many of you is cos she´s constantly trying new and “weird” things. Beyonce fits more in Pink´s group 🙂

  13. #BEYINDEPENDENT October 31, 2013

    Congratulations

  14. SLAY ME GODNIKA (TGJ ALLSTAR TEAM) October 31, 2013

Gz Pink. She is the dark horse. With all the other R&B girls getting attention, good to see the GP still interested in her.I won’t be throwing any shade today, but I will grace you with my presence once again soon.

  15. GAGARULES October 31, 2013

    Pink sucks.
