Britney Bombs: Spears’ ‘Perfume’ Fails To Make A Splash On Charts

Published: Sunday 10th Nov 2013 by Sam

As one of Pop’s most successful figures, Britney Spears is used to explosive sales. However, the singer is dealing with a bomb of a different sort – new single ‘Perfume’.

Details after the jump…

Commissioned as the second single from the 31-year-old’s new album ‘Britney Jean’, it was hoped that the Sia penned cut would enjoy greater success than predecessor ‘Work B*tch’ – which sold dreadfully and peaked #12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

However, as at writing, the ballad is actually performing worse than ‘Work’.

Indeed, though lapped up by Spears’ legion of loyal fans, it appears ‘Perfume’ has the general public holding their noses and wallets. For, though released just one week ago, the track quickly tumbled down the iTunes tally, where it currently sits at #83. Interestingly, ‘Work B*tch’ is performing marginally better, holding firm at #45.

***********

Beyond the boring, bland, abomination that is the track itself, the saddest part of the matter is that the few things that could help the song commercially are also potential disasters-in-waiting (see: live performances, videos). At a time where only her material can “save” her, it’s such a shame, yet more so worrying that Team Britney ever even considered recording – speak less releasing –  this.

And despite being advocates for club-geared Britney, our issue isn’t that it’s not an “uptempo”. After all, we’re growing tired of watching Britney dance like she has cement in her boots.  Rather, it’s the fact that the song is flat-out crap and not a patch on past ballads such as ‘Everytime’ and ‘Blackout’s ‘Why Should I Be Sad’ that grates us most.

‘Britney Jean’ arrives December 3rd. But, honestly, at this point, we don’t even care.

Your thoughts?

How sad her career is starting to fade like Xtinas.

    • Robin November 10, 2013

Lol Christina went up to number 1 on Itunes this week… And We Remain will kick off during the movies release… FTM and MLJ are still selling like crazy…. And she is being watched 2 times a day by 15 million people… How is that fading deary ? 😉

      • Common Sense November 10, 2013

It’s fading because the only hits she’s had in the last 3 years have been as a featured artist. It’s fading because her last 2 albums didn’t even go Gold in the US. It’s fading because her only relevancy is on The Voice.

    • Amanda Bynes November 10, 2013

You wish your fave could sing like Xtina. Sorry to say this but Katy Perry’s music are so basic and generic. No wonder she has ZERO Grammy. HAHAHAHA

    • Amanda Bynes November 10, 2013

But the only thing will not fade is Xtina’s talent. Katy will not last any longer in the industry.

    • Jom November 10, 2013

don’t you compare her to xtina!..these are 2 different artists!

    • ok November 10, 2013

Enjoy Katy @ her peak now because there will come a day when her career will “fade” too… Both Britney & Xtina have made history in their peak but like it just goes to show you only care about chart positions which is lame.

  2. LastDOn November 10, 2013

Let me see all the people’s who called Gaga singles a flop defend this one..cuz all of gaga PROMO singles sold 100k 1st out da gate.. this s*** bout to sell 40k..

    • BeachHouseBritney November 10, 2013

Who gave you permission to speak? Britney’s problem is her music not herself. People aren’t taking to BJ’s songs because they could better, but people aren’t taking to Gaga because they’re sick and tired of her.
Big difference. Even if this album flops Britney can come back with better music and still be loved.

  3. Ju don’t even know November 10, 2013

Actually kind of shocked. I mean I was never a huge fan of the song but I thought it would at least chart. Smh whats going on with her carrer?

    • LastDOn November 10, 2013

what the hell is carrer? go learn HOW to spell b4 u start worrying about britney’s CAREER!!

      • Rosie November 10, 2013

The irony. How are you gonna tell someone to go learn how to spell when you can’t type properly yourself?

      • Ju don’t even know November 10, 2013

Really? It’s called typing fast on an iPad. B**** TRYING TO ACT LIKE SHE’S NEVER SEEN A TYPO BEFORE LOOL.

    • Ju don’t even know November 10, 2013

Career * happy now? Can you sleep at night now?

      • Jom November 10, 2013

go girl!!indeed they can’t accept the fact that britney’s career is over hence they are making it a big deal if a non-britney fan making a typo error!!haha

  4. Rosie November 10, 2013

Pretty much the main reason I complemented the song is because it sounded like Mozart compared to Work B****, but it did get really old after the third listen.
None of her Vegas shows have sold out either, and Perfume is #82 on iTunes as I post this. Britney Jean will probably sell 150K first week at the very most.
Poor Britney. She’s pretty much a has-been at this point.

    • LastDOn November 10, 2013

she a has-been cuz she bout to sell 175k 1st week..didn’t teenage dream sold 180k 1st week did that make katy a has-been .. u so bias u just make urself in2 a damn fool

      • Rosie November 10, 2013

How about you learn how to spell first before calling anyone a damn fool.

      • Lucia November 10, 2013

Katy sold like 5.5 million though. Britney will never see those numbers again.

      • Logic November 10, 2013

Katy Perry has not been out for over 10yrs nor have she ever had an album certified diamond. Regardless everyone can’t be no.1 forever. And THERE’S nothing wrong with that. Times have changed . Britney was on top for the world for a long time. She has sold and broke more records than most recording artist. No matter what happens now she still was the best at her time not second, not third BUT NUMBER ONE!

    • LastDOn November 10, 2013

u r a damn fool ..1st i did’t know how to type properly..then i need to learn how to spell when clearly I’m typing and spelling correctly

      • dark horse November 10, 2013

Don’t you have flop singles from Gaga you need to be purchasing . sis why do what u want drop 40 spots on its 2 nd week on the charts???

      • Ju don’t even know November 10, 2013

LMAOOO “did’t” and I need to learn how to spell? Dumb illiterate b****** who can’t even spell themselves smh.

      • Rosie November 10, 2013

Dumbass. “did’t” isn’t proper grammar or spelling. Now go preorder more copies of ChartFlop before it flops right off the charts.

  5. christinastherealtalent November 10, 2013

Don’t blame it on the fact she isn’t promoting. Her previous songs Womanizer, 3, Hold It Against Me all rocketed to #1 with barely any promotion.

    • dark horse November 10, 2013

      She still shits on Screamtina

      • ok November 10, 2013

But why does Katy sound like a chesty smoker talking singing live though??

      • OH BITCHY FANS November 17, 2013

I’d take Christina or even Britney, over Katy Perry’s annoying voice any day.

    • irene46 November 13, 2013

her sales may s*** on xtina because the public sometimes gobbles up basic low or no talents like britney. other huge selling females put britney’s talents or now lack of to shame even in her heyday…janet, madonna, mariah, whitney. even though xtina was second to britney in sales her talent always far outshined britney’s. btw, ‘hold it against me’ was one of the weakest, lamest songs ever to hit the charts.

  6. LastDOn November 10, 2013

If this was Gaga every1 woulda been calling her a Flop n laffing at her failure but since it’s britney u guys curious 2 kno what’s goin on.. This just shows that u guys holds Gaga to a higher merit..

    • Lucia November 10, 2013

Gaga’s music sucks but she has TALENT, something Britney hasn’t had in years.

    • dark horse November 10, 2013

Gaga is a flop unlike Gaga Britney career didn’t start going down the drain 5 years into it.

      • LastDOn November 10, 2013

IF GAGA A FLOP SO IS KATY CUZ GAGA GOT HER BEAT IN SALES/NET WORTH/ AWARDS ETC

      • dark horse November 10, 2013

Katy not the one struggling for number 1s like Gaga.

      • OH BITCHY FANS November 17, 2013

Oh really? I’m pretty sure ”Don’t Let Me The Last To Know,” a single released during her popular years, flopped and peaked at 112 on Billboard. Also, all her singles from BRITNEY flopped, ”I’m A S**** 4 U” (26), “Overprotected” (86), ”I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman” (102) and ”Boys” (122). Not to mention the single, ”Anticipating,” which didn’t even chart and was later called a ”promo single.” That’s three years since her first album and she flopped. At least Lady Gaga had five years.

    • WHATINTHE?! November 10, 2013

      *laughing

  7. JER November 10, 2013

What’s the news? Who honestly thought that song would do anything?

  8. HOTSTUFF November 10, 2013

She didn’t perform ” Work B****” nor is she gonna perform this live i guess ….What the hell is her team thinking ?! that releasing a track on itunes & a cheap video gonna make her get a hit…. Team Britney is on a next planet maybe Lady Gag’s Venus (catch the shade) lmao. *foils nails*

    • Lucia November 10, 2013

      She can’t perform….lol

      • Trinarockstarr November 10, 2013

        LMAO

    • OH BITCHY FANS November 17, 2013

I highly doubt dancing to pre-recorded music qualifies as performing. The stupid b**** can’t sing to save her life.

  9. LastDOn November 10, 2013

Britney get a pass 2 fail cuz it’s her 8th album B.S cuz eminem is on his 8th album and he’s sellin 750k 1st which is exactly how much britney’s last album sold

    • Ju don’t even know November 10, 2013

LOOOL no period? Lol how are you gonna play proper grammar police and not know how to write correctly yourself. The self shade is too real….

      • OH BITCHY FANS November 17, 2013

I love the fact that you Britney fans fail to answer the questions and judge and attack the ”proper grammar.” Answer the question and who cares about the grammar, unless you are simply as stupid as Britney Spears. Take the gum out of your mouth, stop using stupid words like ”LOOOL,” what the f*** does that even mean? Are you sitting there laughing out loud? Do we really need to know that?

  12. Jess November 10, 2013

And the excuse will be ‘she has nothing to prove’ B******* as soon as you release something in public domain you have somethinng to prove. If it was a success people would jump on the bandwagon. I like britney though, the real pop princess. And the song was ok. But Im not surprised.

  13. SCHEISSETHRONED(GrapeJuiceSUCKS) November 10, 2013

    Damn Brit
    LMAO

I LOVE S****** Spears as a person but her fans are COCKY and dragged Gaga fans for ‘Applause’ underperforming on its first week, but look at GOD! Wont he do it!?

  14. BEYHIVE_MINAJ November 10, 2013

I’ll say that I’m really shocked, though I don’t really root for her. But her stans got too arrogant and started to drag gaga for applause underperforming. I’d say it’s karma, but I don’t think it’s fair that she has to take responsibility for her fans’ stupidity.

  15. Gary C November 10, 2013

after years of being here for britney… i kinda agree with TGJ “honestly, at this point, we don’t even care.”

    sad times.

  16. ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) November 10, 2013

Ok Britney…this whole “dance” sound and whatever you call the “Perfume” single CLEARLY ain’t it. You need to take it back to the Blackout era and release urban pop. These songs are awful and boring. two flop singles….you’re next needs to come hard or just hang it up..

  17. christinastherealtalent November 10, 2013

    @ Dark Horse-

If you don’t care about Christina, that’s fine! I haven’t dissed Katy so don’t come for my girl. At least my girl can sing and hold a note. Katy’s music is as bland and generic as it gets.

  18. Marketing101 November 10, 2013

    Seriously?

This article is pointless. Perfume wasn’t meant to be the next chart topper, but a means to open up to her fans. It’s being used to show her intimate side. Let people in. Be vulnerable. Then after that, she will release a chart topping single. You don’t just throw all your best out in the first two singles.

    Duh.

    • ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) November 10, 2013

Stop the excuses. You’d be barking a different note if the single was hot. How you knew it would slay etc. It’s a flop, deal.

      • Marketing101 November 10, 2013

I’m not being bias. I am simply stating the facts of marketing. I was not a fan of the first single. But more often than not, the second single isn’t the next “hit.”

      • ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) November 10, 2013

Facts of marketing?? Please sit _/ there’s nothing “factual” about your statements lol. You should always come out with your best when you want to get people’s attention, wtf? No one put out a single or any other product for it to do mediocre. Britney has one last shot to garner the publics attention or she’ll be written off as a has-been…#Truth..

      • ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) November 10, 2013

@Marketing if she wanted to just “open up” and wasn’t meant to be a chart topper, she should’ve deemed these a promo track and gave it away for free. Marketing101…..lol!!

      • Marketing101 November 10, 2013

I will admit it is not facts on marketing but my opinion as to how marketing works. Unfortunately the ratchet cloud that lingers corrupts a real conversation. No one has ever release all of their hits at once. It doesn’t produce longevity for the album. Whether you think it is genuine or not is irrelevant, it’s a track her fans, hater or whatever can potentially relate to.

For the record, I am not barking any sort of note. I am simply pointing out the obvious marketing strategy behind Britney’s first few releases off of her album.

      • ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) November 10, 2013

You must be taking marketing 101 at Crenshaw Community College and now think you’re some scholar in the world of marketing lol! I understand what you’re saying but I do not agree. Personal or not, it was meant to be successful not a flop

      • Marketing101 November 11, 2013

Well of course it’s supposed to be successful. I didn’t say it wasn’t; the next hit of all hits, no. Not at all.

    • Lucia November 10, 2013

LMAO!!!! What is vulnerable about that boring, generic, crappy song? Britney stans do the most.

  19. mekaela November 10, 2013

Well say what you want about rihanna her albums may not go to number one but she is that little train that always stays in her lane and mind her own business yet she dominates and breaks records people hate ri everyday but she stays positive and do her own thing. She will always be bless

    • *ℙᏫℙ ℝᏫᎩAℒᎿᎩ* November 10, 2013

      Shine Bright like a RIHANNA.

  20. WHATINTHE?! November 10, 2013

Why is everyone surprised? Her fans have grown and moved on to supporting artist who can actually perform. People have absolutely no reason at all to support this woman nowadays. Not the tweens, not even the gays. Sad to say, but her last album was it. Ask yourselves this questions. As an artist, what is Britney Spears bringing to the table besides her past accomplishments? What is so good about what she’s doing right now in the industry?

  21. cake like lady gaga November 10, 2013

DEAD at @Sam clocking @TROLLbird and @TROLLsie’s tea!!!!!

That time Applause is still slaying the top 10 on the BB100 and Do What U Want is slaying the iTunes chart!!! The trolls are having proper meltdowns right now and I love it 😀 😀 😀

ARTPOP is coming out tomorrow in South Africa, I will be at the music store EARLY to purchase the physical copy. Unlike @TROLLbird, I support my fave, that’s why I even paid money to go watch her live when she was in SA.

Riherpes was in SA last month, but @TROLLbird was too busy trolling TGJ instead of going fill up the empty seats at her concerts. He even downloaded Basic Perry’s Prism off Hulkshare, what kind of stan though?

  25. Tisha November 10, 2013

    It’s over.

Not everyone has a longstanding musical career.

Britney had her time, she was fire, and it passed. She had mental issues, married 2 dudes, had 2 kids, and now can’t even make decisions for herself as an adult unless her Father approves it.

The mistake was her trying to keep it up instead of letting Circus or whatever it was called be her graceful bowing out. Times have changed, people have moved on. She was never a strong singer, she can’t dance anymore, and most times she seems medicated out her mind so yeah…folks aren’t here for her.

  26. Rosie November 10, 2013

Is anyone surprised? Not only is the song trash but Britney is a has been and she couldn’t promote the song if she wanted to. She literally is incapable of doing so. She should retire with the little respect she has left and stop embarrassing herself with flop after flop.

    • Passenger November 10, 2013

      • Perry Power November 10, 2013

Katy Hudson wasn’t even released outside of California. But you Britards can keep living in the past back when Britney was still relevant and wasn’t completely worthless. Because here in the present where everyone else is, she’s an embarrassing flop and a disgrace to pop music.

  30. Damo November 10, 2013

Perfume is actually given away as a download, when you Pre- Order Britney jean so technically it’s not gonna chart register until Britney Jean is actually released right? cos you can’t purchase Perfume on it’s own unless you by the album at this stage.

If there is one thing i’ve learnt over the years do not under estimate the machine that is Britney Spears, when she goes on to marketing over drive for the album and starts performing Perfume and Work B****, and when Perfume is actually released as a single not as a free give away track when you pre-order an album, i can bet my life that this story will be void!

    • DNNY November 10, 2013

How do you explain then Gaga’s DWUW and Venus’ debuts in the Hot 100? Those were given as preorder give-aways as well… Stop making excuses for Britney’s not being here for her career anymore.

  31. SLAYAGE November 10, 2013

the problem is will i am…hes too basic. before britney jean era i used to listen to britney’s instrumentals, and her beats were always HARD! s***** basic will i am…even passenger sounds basic……….

AND DANJA ISNT EVEN ON BRITNEY JEAN *WTF*

    • ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) November 11, 2013

Are you serious?????? No Danja on the album?! Ok, it’s a wrap, Britney Jean will flop…

  32. MUSICHEAD November 10, 2013

This article is so mean and unfair lol. How can you have expectations for a single that has not even been promoted yet? The song hasn’t been sent to radio, there is no video for it and there have been no live performances.

The way I see it, Perfume was released early as an alternative to Work B*tch. The label clearly saw that Work was not the single it needed to push the album so they threw an extra song out there to build some buzz.

However, I will agree that there is little anticipation for this album. Music audiences have few reasons to connect with Britney anymore. For the first time, she will have to rely on the quality of her music to sell records and if Work B*tch is the best she could come up with, I don’t think many will be buying.

  33. SLAYAGE November 10, 2013

BUT hold up! why does thatgrapejuice ALWAYS care about Chart positions and s***…and theyre biased as f***!

  34. Common Sense November 10, 2013

Britney hasn’t cared about her career in half a decade. Why would her fans?

  35. ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) November 10, 2013

SAM WHERE’S THE GOSPEL POST?? MARY MARY SEASON 3, OUT OF EDEN ALLEGED REUNION..

  36. MADONNA IS FLOP November 10, 2013

We didn’t have article when Countdown, I Was Here, Party and other 4 singles bombed. What about I’m Out? Samantha’s q**** flop ass is so biased.

    • ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) November 10, 2013

Because neither of those singles were leads for an album or released to save face due to a previous flopping single made to lead an album…

      • MADONNA IS FLOP November 10, 2013

h** stfu! you always has excuses for oldonce flop ass that has yet to outsell baby one more time after 4 fails. run the world was flop single and everything after it was too. aren’t you the one that likes bown down? that tells something about your flop ghetto trash ass taste. bye h**.

      • ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) November 10, 2013

Using sales from 90’s to try and make an argument….*rolls eyes* Anyway, how is the truth an excuse?? Were those singles used to promote an “UPCOMING” album or not?? Lol. Everyone knows how important the lead single is lol

      • ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) November 10, 2013

And listening to @ShitBird when he sh*ts out his mouth with his dumb*ss fabricated stories tells me something about you lmao

  37. Rosie November 10, 2013

It clinging to Awfulause like Britney stans still cling to 1999.

  38. Purrrrrty November 10, 2013

All Britney has is “100 million records sold” during the s***** bubblegum pop era. No real artistry, no vocal or dance talent and no respectable legacy. Christina may be a flop these days, but her talent (screaming and all) withstands the test of time.

    • rusty_angel November 14, 2013

Are you f****** SHITTING me???? Britney can’t dance? Really though? Listen after her 2 (two) knee surgeries, total reconstruction…yeah, she’s not the same as before but don’t tell me she can’t dance. And no respectable legacy? B**** please. She is the f****** princess of pop, second ONLY to Madonna. She has sold 200 million albums worldwide, she is the top selling female artist of the 90s, not Madonna, not Mariah, not Whitney, not Celine, Britney f****** Spears. She still holds the record for most albums sold in a week by a female artist, a million plus for Oops I Did It Again. I could go on all day but I am at work right now. Perfume and Work B**** underperformed but don’t pretend for a second of your life that Britney isn’t a f****** pop legend.

  39. Pop Professor November 10, 2013

I don’t think anyone’s failure is a laughing matter. Times have changed most of the early 2000’s star are either touring(Beyonce,Pink,Justin) or doing what they can to basically get by. I will say this Britney sold like crazy in the beginning even when she didn’t deserve to. Her audience has grown up and finally realized she can’t perform or sing.

But you have to admit if you were apart of the TRL generation, we have yet to have a cluster of Pop stars dominate like:Britney Spears,Destiny’s Child,Christina Aguilera,N’Sync,Backstreet Boys,TLC,Eminem, and Pink and we will more than likely never will.I’ll take the latter any day over Rihanna,Katy,Gaga,Jutin.B,Kesha,One Direction and whoever else is ruling the Pop scene today..

Good luck Britney, those last #1’s and hits were akin to someone cashing out their 401K, You should’ve bowed gracefully after Circus.

  40. Selenator November 10, 2013

You haters sound like broken records. “She cant perform” – If she couldn’t perform why would she be doing a residency show in Las Vegas?
“She doesn’t care” – If she didn’t care why would she bother releasing an album? Its not like she needs the money and I doubt she has special conditions in her contract. Like she said, this album is for the fans. She doesn’t give a f*** about the charts. If she cared about the charts she’d release something up tempo again, not Perfume.
Y’all need to leave her alone. She has nothing to prove. She’s had a greater impact on music than your favs and her debut album alone probably outsells your favs career. So sit.

    • Purrrrrty November 10, 2013

FUUUUCK her sales! Show me receipts from the past 7 years that proves she can perform. The people who purchased her music 15 years ago are GROWN and no longer support crappy bubblegum artists.

      • Selenator November 10, 2013

Circus era is my receipt b*tch!
        #1 Single: Womanizer
#1 Album: 5 million copies worldwide
Iconic and record breaking tour that got great reviews and grossed 300 million.
        3 debuted at #1
Femme Fatale tour sold out and grossed over 60 million.
Her fans are still here and show their support where it counts; in touring.

      • Purrrrrty November 10, 2013

Here you go with sales and stats again. They have nothing to do with my question. NOTHING! She can’t sing nor perform. She’s a has been! You stan for Selena f****** Gomez I can’t take you seriously anyway.

      • Selenator November 10, 2013

Lol you dumb c*nt if she sucked no one would buy her music or see her live. If she sucked her tours wouldn’t be grossing 60 million and 300 million. Sales=support.

  41. mekaela November 10, 2013

When albums stops selling and singles pop stars need to rely on old music they can still tour on like madonna bruce Springsteen will always be rich when they tour because their music stood the test of times. No one thought madonna would become the icon she is today people use to say madonna cant sing her music was bubble gum foolishness look at her now so you haters always hating on rihanna saying she will never be remembered watch and see in twenty years if u still alive bloop

    • Purrrrrty November 10, 2013

Shut the f*** up. Why do you make everything about Rihanna? You’re probley the stalker she filed a restraining order against! WHY YOU SO OBSESSED HEAUX?

    • Selenator November 10, 2013

Exactly. Britney is a touring force! 300 million for the Circus tour, 60 million for the Femme Fatale tour!

  42. Navy Nick November 10, 2013

I am shocked too, i think hot 100 sh*^ is all bull rap anyways., this song is good, i like it a lot, but music is all about these new acts now…., no love lost against Britney, her fans are still here.

  43. Dev November 10, 2013

Tbh, i dont think its a bad song i just don’t think she has the vocals to carry it off. Someone will sing this song and do it the justice it deserves the same way that many have done with Mileys wrecking ball

  44. BITCHPLEASEEEEE November 10, 2013

BUT SHE STILL GONNA DO PLATINUM THOUGH SO WHY HATE??? 🙁

  45. Theman November 10, 2013

Also Eminem I doing amazing as well.. He has basically outsold everyone. So some talented artists are doing awesome..

  46. DJY November 10, 2013

Okay so now if it doesn’t reach on the top 10; that means that it’s not a good song? Seriously…
I don’t care what people are thinking about this song I like it and not just because it is a Britney’s one. I love it because it sounds good to me. I challenge anyone to find a song that pleases everyone; just try.

  47. JOHNVIDAL November 10, 2013

About time! Sorry to say but it´s a miracle in the first place that this girl had success till recent times. After the t*** boom around 1999-2002 she shouldn´t have had a big career at all since she lacks talent. Her fans and label are responsible for the pressure they put on her to continue, even when it´s clear she would be better with her family, I mean, she looks like she doesn´t care since 2005. Leave her alone for real.
I just hope when her Vegas shows are over (we´ll see how that goes cos Celine in her 10th year in Vegas still slays Britney´s first year numbers) she finally retires after this flop. For her own sake. You guys will be able to think about her as a nice memory, like the Spice Girls or something. But musically she is nothing. Sorry.

    • NO(Halo My Name) November 10, 2013

Amen. One of the most sensible commentators.

    • Jess November 10, 2013

PREACH! Especially the ‘t*** boom’ part. You can brag abou how many albums she sold thanks to that, but as soon as that hype went, so did her sales and she was getting outsold by everyone else. And yeah Baby One More Time sold 30 mill bla bla bla. But who is playing it now?

    • Motivation November 10, 2013

      @JohnVidal
That’s so mean, Mariah could have retired after her personal crisis and all her flop singles too, but i forget unlike Britney, she has talent and that’s makes her a better person, right?

      • JOHNVIDAL November 11, 2013

Hmm not a better person, just a better artist. That´s Mariah Mariah should continue as long as she wants. And don´t make me start with the crazy comeback Mariah had after those things you are mentioning. Mariah is crazy talented, Britney isn´t.

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare November 10, 2013

Preach!! This bubblegum dominated period is not one to look back at fondly. It’s actually really embarrassing when you think about it:

…Baby One More Time 30 Million WW

No Strings Attached 2.4 million first week sales in the US 13.2 WW

      Millennium 40 million WW

We should stop celebrating this VERY mediocre time in music history ASAP. Great sales having nothing to do quality.

  48. Lovebird (Britney Jean – 03.12.13) November 10, 2013

Very easy to bash a song she hasn’t promote isn’t it.

Britney will be just fine, she has already sold more albums than most favs here including Xtina, she has nothing left to prove.

Britney can flop 500 times if so, the fact will not change that she will still have sold more albums than Xtina, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, etc.

    • Lovebird (Britney Jean – 03.12.13) November 10, 2013

      *promoted

  49. SukOnMiley November 10, 2013

Considering she has not performed any of her new material once, whereas other artists ram it down your face on every promo oppurtunity Britney is doing great.

  50. Nicki Minaj November 10, 2013

The song is actually refreshing to hear. F*** the charts.

  51. Jom November 10, 2013

Reality Bites! Offcourse she can’t sing a decent ballad song & we a tired of seeing her dancing like there is no tommorrow..I can only imagency her relevancy when she turned 40..:(

  52. FutureCIARA November 10, 2013

Oh this is very sad, I like Britney.

But I guess it is time for her to sashay away!

    And damn, TGJ dragged.

    • DEM LESSORS November 12, 2013

What bout Cici tho, what on f****** earth is she doing that makes her more relevant that Britney, Please! If Britney goes then Ciara has no chance!

  53. cocobutta November 10, 2013

Now although I actually think the song is a vocal triumph for the weak vocally challenged Britney, the fact is the Perfume still stinks.

Still would like to hear her live just to confirm and expose how her REAL vocal stinks as much as the song.

    • DEM LESSORS November 12, 2013

The only thing that stinks is the s*** comming out you mouth! Add this to Youtube to hear her real vocals watch?v=hsqIWJZLx5A

  54. Timago November 10, 2013

    WHERE IS SMELLY FLOPLAND?!?!?!?!?!?!?! BLUMPKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  55. GAGARULES November 10, 2013

LMAO DEAD @ ALL THESE EXCUSES FOR FLOPNEY SPEARS. SHE’S OVER. ‘FLOPNEY JEAN’ IS ALREADY A FLOP AND IT HASN’T EVEN BEEN RELEASED YET LMAO

  56. GAGARULES November 10, 2013

‘FLOPNEY JEAN’ IS GONNA FLOP WORSE THAN ‘LOTUS’ & ‘BIONIC’ COMBINED LMAO

  57. HOWYOULIKEIT November 10, 2013

That was very predictable. After toxic she had not had any career

    • DEM LESSORS November 12, 2013

That’s why ‘Blackout’ is one of her most critically acclaimed albums & Womaizer, 3 & HIAM all reached #1?!

  58. Briej November 10, 2013

Well Ya’ll act like shes a huge single artist anyway.. I mean look at her singles chart history shes always been an album seller though. But I must say had she released Work b**** say spring/summer it would have been good timing I mean it’s fall winter nobody riding with they’re windows down trying to catch a cold talking about “work b****” and she needs to really promote and not rely on her name

  59. BOOBIE November 10, 2013

Honestly Sam or David, whoever is writing these articles about Britney and other artists…

Basically this “article” is a bash fest on Britney Spears. For what reason? If you don’t like the song, say you don’t like the song…don’t write off her entire album. And if you don’t like her, don’t even waste your time with this lame ass articles. You have to be professional when posting news, you make it so obvious when you don’t like an artist (Rihanna, Britney) and when you do (Beyonce, Mister Gaga, Elijah Bland) . Using words like “bomb” and “dreadful” and “abomination” is SO unnecessary. You write like a child and you sound like a bitter ass queen.

Can’t believe you had the NERVE to say you don’t even care about the entire record when you’ve only heard two singles adding fuel to the homosexual fire that you’ve started.

    BYE.

  60. MC!!!!! November 10, 2013

I like the song and I’m still here for Britney!! and the song hasn’t even been sent to radio it hasn’t impact anything if it hasn’t touched radio!!

  61. J.E November 11, 2013

No matter what happen.. I still prefer Britney and Christina over Gaga.

  62. HEY November 11, 2013

It seems like Christina is rising again and Britney is falling….Hmmm. Interesting. The shoe on the other feet.

  63. HONESTLY November 11, 2013

I don’t even think Britney cares about her career anymore. I dont think she will be performing her singles because she will have a 1-2year long non-stop tour. She’s building anticipation for it and as the dates near, people will buy tix. it makes sense.

  64. DEM LESSORS November 12, 2013

I love how everyone’s just switched opinion and is bashing Brit after one week of low sales. The song will climb higher, it hasn’t even been sent to radio yet. Why isn’t there a mention of Britney being number 7 on the UK singles chart? Sam’s just trying to show up everyone who said the song was better than anything of Lady Gaga’s Fartflop, It’s the truth and now your using what Gaga said wasn’t relevant. Britney’s music is better than Gaga’s music STANDARD! You need to go back to journalism school or something, you couldn’t write an unbiased article if your life depended on it! Carry on being pressed because no one likes Gaga any more after only 4.5 years. Bye B****!!!

  65. GAGARULES November 12, 2013

    FLOP!!!
