John Legend’s ‘Love In The Future’ Enjoys US Sales Boost / Jhene Aiko Makes Top Ten Debut

Published: Thursday 21st Nov 2013 by David

As its sales sail towards the ‘half a million sold worldwide’ island, John Legend continues to win the hearts of US music lovers with his August 2013 release ‘Love in the Future.’

How? Via his sold out ‘Made to Love’ tour, which sees ‘Love & War’ performer Tamar Braxton serve as its opening act, joining the performer in welcoming positive reviews in every city they’ve graced with the show.

Ready to see how fruitful the show has been to him this week?

Chart check below…

Almost four months since its US release, Legend’s ‘Love’ holds a spot in this week’s Top 50, enjoying a sales boost of 18%, pushing it to #32 after spending last week at #39.

Helped in great part by the success of the tour, the last week saw the release shift 9,467 in the market- outperforming Bruno Mars’ ‘Unorthodox Jukebox‘ which slipped by 7% with 9,369 sold!

Meanwhile, in flying the flag for Urban, Jhene Aiko‘s ‘Sail Out‘ EP rode an ethereal wave to the Top 10 with 33,199 units sold in its opening week.

Seem a little modest? Not at all, for this figure sees her shift half of the average figure scored by the bulk of R&B belles afforded twice as much as promotion as she was armed with. This, a positive indicator of how well Aiko will fare when handed the tools she’ll no doubt need to carve out a mainstream lane for her material.

Perched at #8, the EP stood around 12,000 units away from outperforming Katy Perry’s ‘Prism‘ which rolled in 45,814 sold this week, and one spot above Drake‘s ‘Nothing Was The Same‘, which laid its head at #9 with 32,823 copies moved in the last seven days.

I little unfair, because Bruno Mars’ album is a year old, and John’s four months old..

Congrats to John Legend! Although he should have sold way more. If only mainstream audiences weren´t abducted by radio and superficial stuff… His album is also in my top 10 best albums of the year.

John Legend has one of the strongest albums of the year , and Bruno’s still killing them with a year old album.

jhene has been in the game since she was like 14 i don’t think people realise this she has skills vocally and she writes her own music!! and has stayed true to herself and she’s not scared to sing about real life s***…she had it hard when her brother died from cancer age 27 and she still carried on pushing for the both of them! i think people need to stop comparing her to cassie..cassie is a pop singer and is good at what she does jhene is a sweet r&b vocalist she can riff and she can sing! she deserves all the positivity she’s getting…she deserves to be successful..plus i love how she has a 5yr old daughter and proved that you can still do music specially re entering music at the age of 251 go Jhenè
