Must See: Geri Halliwell Performs Spice Girls’ ‘Wannabe’ On Australia’s Got Talent

Published: Sunday 10th Nov 2013 by Sam

As proud purveyors of Pop, we love us some Spice Girls. Indeed, who doesn’t?

Yet, there comes a time when an artist is tasked with realizing that their commercial run has wrapped. Call it a “transition”, if you will.

Unfortunately for Spice’s Geri Halliwell, the memo hasn’t landed on her lap or, worse still, is being flat-out ignored.

Case, point, the 41-year-old’s performance of the group’s debut single ‘Wannabe’ on Australia’s Got Talent last night. The irony in the song choice and the fact Halliwell actually judges on the show is priceless.

See what we mean after the jump…

Goodness gracious…she sounded like sandpaper.

The saddest part is that this is not news to anyone; the Spice Girls were not vocalists and ultimately were accepted for what they were at the time  – potent Pop stars.

However, what Halliwell fails to understand is that there was a reason for her season and that both the reason and season have long passed.

She needn’t look further than the sales of her latest single ‘Half Of Me’, which sold less than 400 copies upon release last week.

The upside is that enough power remains in “Brand Spice” for Geri, like the Victoria Beckham‘s of the world, to take up another hustle and be successful with it. Because this “singing thing”? No bueno.

No!I think the spice girls are good(Not vocally) together but terrible solo. There’s a reason none of them are solo stars, same goes for TLC.Stronger together than apart.

Mel C’s debut album was good, and Victoria Beckham for all the stick she got was a better singer than Cheryl Cole and her album was better but was ridiculed. Emma Bunton had a light but nice sounding voice, but Mel B although not a great singe used her voice for songs that it was suited…and Geri was the worst singer but continues to want to be known as one.

Geri has been a dusty singer from day 1, but that does not take away from the fact that the spice girls are and always will be fantastic!!!! Using Geri’s crusty voice to write an Essay about how the groups time has gone is just rubbish! Geri’s role was as a personality, media, and songwriter as 1/5th of a group, the rest of them can all sing well, even victoria’s voice is not bad at all, Melanie C could wipe the floor with 90% of todays acts alone, it was only this time last year that the girls stole the entire Olympics with there stunning performance that the world talked about for days! The Spice Girls are an untouchable unique part of UK pop History, great songs, grreat personalitys , great performers, they had was now branded as the X Factor and they were amazing entertainers, just vibrant and captivating in there own way

Geri left the group thinking she would become the next Madonna.
I will NEVER forgive her for ruining their career, they were a pop phenomenon!
