LA Reid: “TLC Have Not Been Dropped”

Published: Saturday 23rd Nov 2013 by Sam

Earlier this week, the net was sent into a frenzy amidst reports that iconic girl-group TLC had abruptly “severed ties” with recording home Epic Records.

Shocking on many a front, the claims stemmed from the fact the ‘Waterfalls’ singers had been removed from the roster section of the label’s website, and had themselves replaced the label’s logo from their official website. Whats more, with the timing of the drama caused by their hit VH1 movie, it appeared the personal had clashed with the professional – with musically fatal results.

However, in a surprise announcement, Epic’s head, LA Reid, has confirmed that ladies are still with the label. His words after the jump…

Taking to Twitter today, Reid (who signed the trio to their first deal and steered them to the top of the charts) wrote:

*********

Interesting. Very interesting.

Factually, the group were indeed missing in action from the label’s site – which begs the question: is there more to the story or was it an administrative oversight? Who knows.

In any case, it appears that it’ll be business as usual for the group’s surviving members T-Boz and Chilli; the duo, who continue work on their first original album since 2002’s ‘3D’, take to the stage tomorrow night at the 2013 American Music Awards.

You know nothing about singing and vocalists if you do not consider t-boz a vocalist. you may not like her voice personally, but she is a beast in that lower register and has a very distinctive voice. not every vocalist has to sound like whitney and mariah.

lmao, you guys are sooo shady, and im speaking on the commenters…..dont act like tlc havn’t sold millions of albums, tours & was the second best girl group after spice girls….

like you bytches really need to show some fukkin respect!!!this is a black group, a black group from the 90’s that is, and to see that your still relevant 20+ yrs later, really proves, there is no slowing you down!

so you haters might as well grab a chair, and some of their music, and get refamiliarized with these ladys! im a big destinys child fan, but before there was even a destinys child, tlc were them girls, and still are, and im here to support these ladys!

AND FYI, THEY HAD 4 PLATINUM SELLING ALBUMS….4 which of your favorites can top that!

AND ALL YOU CAN SAY IS, THEY WENT BANKRUPT….SO WHAT THEY WENT BANKRUPT, WHITE PEOPLE CALL IT, REBUILDING YOUR LIFE!

    • NT November 23, 2013

My fave has 7 platinum albums though.

      • James227 November 23, 2013

You must be 9 years old because this girl group carried the music industry back in the 90″s. They are the real legends the QUEENS of R&B. They had real fans whom did not buy one song or one album 100 times to make them get a #1 hit. Talent speaks for itself & Pebbles will get hers after what she has done to these young ladies.

      • Whut November 23, 2013

@NT but your fave doesn’t have a career anymore.

TLC ain’t dropped from Epic because Chilli has either too much tea to spill on LA Reid or she is probably sleeping with LA still.

Lesson 2 on how to shade your wife and stepdaughter.
Lesson 1 was to have no comment on the situation.

  11. Dev November 23, 2013

Unless you have heard the album you have no idea who, if anyone will purchase it.

  12. Mark111 November 23, 2013

The problem with Music is that everything is targeted to teens. As I get older, I find myself buying older music. For example, when I was a kid I jammed to Nelly and didn’t even like Jay Z, now it’s the opposite. That’s why sales are low, back then you had Aaliyah, Usher, TLC, Brandy, Britney Spears for the youth, and Luther, Whitney, MC (at the start) and others for the mature audience. Why you think Adele sold so much and still selling? Most are from adult sales. Why you think country music sell so much?

TLC will be fine, if LA was smart, he’d have TLC headline a tour and have the other Epic artist open like Ciara.

  13. T_Nil78 November 23, 2013

I just love how Negative ass people always got something to say about something that they supposedly don’t like. My thing is if you don’t believe no one will buy TLC’s next album, then keep on believing that. Let we fans continue to support and love them. You sure take a alot of time to post negative b******* on their forums which says a lot that you apparently are interested somewhat in TLC. So, shut the f*** up and keep it moving.

  14. LOL November 23, 2013

LOL SOME FOLKS ARE JUST MAD BECAUSE TLC REMAINS THE BIGGEST R&B GIRL GROUP OF ALL TIME & CONTINUE TO AD TO THEIR LEGACY, WHILE DESTINY’S BASICS WILL REMAIN THEIR LESSORS LOL

  15. LOL November 23, 2013

Bwahaha! Take that, Pebbles! God don’t like ugly and he ain’t too fond of pretty, either. Another FAIL for you lmao #StaySeated
