Billboard’s end of the year reports are usually based on data comprised of radio airplay, physical and digital sales, and, most recently, Internet streams. As such, it was a no-brainer for acts like Justin Timberlake, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Robin Thicke, and Bruno Mars to top the outlet’s ‘year-in-review’ charts given the spectacular commercial performances 2013 afforded each of them and more.
But, since sales don’t always equal quality, the good folks over at Billboard have now lent their weigh in on the year’s best song from a critical standpoint. Its results, listed in full below, sees a surprisingly Urban-dominated list with the likes of Ciara, Kanye West, and Drake all ranking amongst honorees.

Even though she flopped again this era I will say this era was probably Ciara’s best era since The evolution. Yeah if you concentrate on sales, you all may disagree or laugh but Body Party was the single she needed to put her name back out there. The single did well on radio and charts and she did receive more nominations this era than the past two.
Do I think Ciara will ever be a global superstar? Doubt it since her record label will not promote her right but I think Ciara will lead the pack (behind of Beyonce of course) in R&B.

I agree. It´s a terrible list. This just proves Billboard only knows about numbers, not music. Do they expect us to take them seriously as critics? With this list? Well of course there are 4 or 5 songs which belong there, but nothing else.
