It may have shifted 6,380,000 units in the US alone, but Robin Thicke‘s ‘Blurred Lines’ seems to have pulled quite the cruel trick on his once flawless public persona.

For, thanks to its ‘eyebrow raising’ lyrics and playful take on the sensitive topic that is clear and discernible sexual consent, he has earned new found critics who say the cut goes a long way to trivialise rape.

So, in honour of the steps they say he’s taken towards degrading women, these critics have named him ‘Sexist of the Year.

Full story below…

In a poll carried out by the  ‘End Violence Against Women Coalition‘, Robin was crowned the winner of the ‘Sexist of the Year’ award- earning the title by way of the controversial number and comments made in its defence after its release.

On his win, the coalition’s Sarah Green shared:

“Our heartfelt congratulations to a worthy winner Robin Thicke for both his concerted sexist efforts, and in the end the platform he created for rejection of the use of women as objects to promote mediocre pop. Sexism might be de rigueur for some music industry ‘creatives’ but the times they are a-changin’.”

Digital Spy adds:

“They also noted several quotes made by the singer, including his interview with GQ, in which he said: “People say, ‘Hey, do you think this is degrading to women?’ I’m like, ‘Of course it is. What a pleasure it is to degrade a woman. I’ve never gotten to do that before.”

So, let us know…

Is Thicke deserving of the title?

The song didn’t MEAN any harm but it did do some harm. People always wanna hate on feminists but don’t understand how much the work they do helps people who need it.

  3. DOSSOME December 21, 2013

  11. BEYHIVE_MINAJ December 21, 2013

Yes,because he is the first to lust women in his music or have them running around half clothed in his videos

  12. BanjeeRiri December 21, 2013

I wouldn’t expect a Beyonce fan to understand why some people think this song is dangerous. I once read that Beyonce fans have the lowest iqs of any fan base in the world, google it if you don’t believe me.

  13. BEYHIVE_MINAJ December 21, 2013

And I wouldn’t expect a Rihanna fan to spell the word “IQs” correctly

Where’s the lie? He’s nasty and Blurred Lines was the biggest fluke of all time. No one wants to EVER hear that song EVER AGAIN. EVER. It will join the Macarena and many others as songs remembered as complete jokes who blocked bigger, better, and more memorable songs from being #1. BYEEEEeeeeee

  15. Hivy December 21, 2013

I didn’t like “Blurred Lines” at all but He s*** though. <3 The song is degrading.
