    Flawless 🙂

  3. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    When will this porno show hit iTunes or will she use the same gimmick?

  4. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    This is just like her re-releasing her albums 4839484857394849858 times.

  5. ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 17, 2013

    What happened @Lovebird? Why so pressed NOW? Did she take your rent money by you purchasing her album?

  6. Ciarastan December 17, 2013

    Ciyonce!!! Ciara’s f***** impact!!! Copycat ass BIATCH

  7. Yaz December 17, 2013

    She is just flawless! I love her. This album showed her true artistry.

  8. Ciarastan December 17, 2013

    Da albums cute tho!!! I love Mine and XO but you can’t deny Slayara’s f****** impact!!! B******!!!! F***!!!

  9. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    @Enough Onika

    The hive became a nuisance again.

  10. Yaz December 17, 2013

    @Lovebird what are you talking about, this is for Part 1. Its the second behind the scenes. Read and comprehend.

  11. Ciarastan December 17, 2013

    Thank god for zippy share I don’t support thieves

    glad she is more open now. 🙂 Love her! Keep it up Bey and that part with Blue in the glasses Is sooo cute.

  14. musiclover December 17, 2013

    100+ comments coming

  15. Revolution December 17, 2013

    Imperfection? But Beyonce you and this whole album is just pure perfection.

  16. Mimi Carey December 17, 2013

    Overrated

  17. RoyalKev December 17, 2013

    I have a feeling this era might turn out to be my favorite. That’s saying some if your talking about Beyonce! It’s really special for so many reasons.

  18. Alex December 17, 2013

    I really gained a whole new respect for her for this album. All this comes down to is her opening up through her music fully and not trying to make general songs for/about others this time. That’s why her best albums to me are this and then Dangerously in Love in second place. The self title is perfect, because it is her.

  19. RoyalKev December 17, 2013

    ^ *something

  20. 2bad2bme December 17, 2013

    Can’t wait to see her slay in DC tomorrow and it will be the first day she will chart on billboard…she will kill the show!

  21. Hivy December 17, 2013

    Preach @ Alex!!

  22. Alex December 17, 2013

    And I think her becoming a mother made her realize that.

  23. Alex December 17, 2013

    @Hivy glad you agree.

  24. Bey Fan December 17, 2013

    I dont even know how you could hate on this…..

    “I just wanna Blow dat s*** up”…. LOL. I love everything about this woman
    You can tell when she’s speaking from the heart versus her tryin to be PC….

  25. *ℙᏫℙ ℝᏫᎩAℒᎿᎩ* December 17, 2013

    Loved Part 1 and part 2 as well.

    I feel Like she’s Coming to her own senses in every way, and I love how she explains everything in her way.

    I Respect her on This album and the project as a whole, What she’s doing is totally to be Respected by any basic music lover, and i don’t think giving her credits will hurt me, lol . 😀

    U Go Beyonce.

    Also her fans were so Supportive, Gotta give them my Whole respect as well.

    I Like this album, Because it is so “Her”, I’m not shocked one bit, and that’s why I like it, it is her showing herself.

    I have nothing negative to say to be honest, she Did what i wanted her to do Since Forever.

  26. Bey Fan December 17, 2013

    @Alex…

    I think it was a combination of becoming a mother… letting her father go as manager…experiencing some failures …and just becoming a woman. But Blue has definitely changed her for the better. I’ve never like Beyonce more than I do now.

  27. Just Sayin December 17, 2013

    She was a pretty little girl.

  28. *ℙᏫℙ ℝᏫᎩAℒᎿᎩ* December 17, 2013

    @Lovebird:

    How old are you again?

    Every fanbase has it’s awful members, no big deal if you are mature enough, and to be honest, not only the hive, the Little monsters, britney stans,The navy all have some, by your logic you won’t like anybody, every artist has some of those, Separate the artist from the fans if u can, try hard and you will finally do it.

    And come here please, The hive was never the reason why you hate beyonce, there is another reason, Stop The Crap.
    Also stop being so pressed to the point you comment the first one and be so negative. Damn, not a good look at all. 😕

    The Nerve of you talking about “porno” while you like nicki minaj and cassie!!!! I WON’T have it with you, but you DO KNOW better!

  29. Navy Commander December 17, 2013

    The c squads desperation to keep CIERROR relevant! Now they’ve latched on to bey saying she stole from ci? Reallly? & I know one thing she didn’t steal , ALBUM SALES, 57k b*tch

  30. Hivy December 17, 2013

    @Pop I see that shade boo. “Basic music lover” -sides eye- but glad to see everyone being positive except some.

  31. ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 17, 2013

    @Lovebird but you don’t think the navy did the same thing by coming into Beyonce posts just to hate and spread evil? If anything, you should be disgusted at your fellow navy for not acknowledging good music regardless of the artist and how hateful they’ve been. Even you said you liked the album…

  32. Bey Fan December 17, 2013

    Theres nothing to be negative about… of course some of the Hive is about to go hard. But thats what this site is about. At the end of the day, you have to respect this woman.

    Again, you dont have to like the music… you dont even have to like Beyonce… but the way she’s going about this era… you gotta respect that shyt man.

  33. Hivy December 17, 2013

    @Beyfan Is that you in that pic…. Cause that always catches my eye rather than your comments. Just sayin

  34. cocobutta December 17, 2013

    Bey Bey!! She enjoying the fruits of her labour.
    Wish another could be up there but she has no time and is fully booked in no arenas.

    ———————————————-
    Dear Ciara fans, your fav shouldn’t even be acknowledged in a Bey, RiRi, Gaga, Xtina, Katy, Miley & Adele post. Who is she to them in the global market?

    Rihanna mocked her ass in bathroom singing chops and sent a b1tch back into hiding.
    You have no legs to stand on vs these BB200 & Hot 100 artists.

    These artist highly chart in either one of those charts and Ci does not.
    The C-Squad are as flat as the lies they told that they copped her album.

  35. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    I AMMMMM SCREEEAAAMMMIIIINNNGGG

    Prism – 60K
    Now 48 – 47K
    Artpop – 36K

    Not Now 48 selling more copies than Artpop when they came out at the same time Noooooo

  36. Sass December 17, 2013

    Oh so when it said Part 2 in the first behind the scenes, it literally meant another behind the scenes? Not album? LOOL *Slaps forehead! I’m glad, I don’t need another part overshadowing this one, especially if it turns out not be as good.

  37. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    Artpop outsold by Mary J’s flat vocals, LORDE and Now 48 in the Christmas shopping week Noooooooo

    Not with $25 million promo, $3 million Art rave NY party only to sell copies than Now 48 Christmas shopping week…I’m f****** weak.

  38. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    Not people purchasing a collection album they can make themselves on itunes over a full most likely discounted album which has had $25 million promo in Christmas shopping week.

  39. Miss Moderator December 17, 2013

    ooh this site is brutal on posts. My debut on here as found out about it through the Beyonce tweets.

    @cocobutta I guess you happy with Bey & not Ciara then. Ouch at that comment chileee

  40. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    @Enough Onika

    I do like the album, I’ve stated this multiple times but I’ll still defend my fav when the hive become a mess.

  41. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    How can a collection album you can make by yourself on iTunes, and which has received $9 promo dollars sell more than a full album which has had $25 million promo budget in Christmas shopping week…..I cannot.

  42. Miss Moderator December 17, 2013

    How do you get a picture by your name? Sorry to be a silly ho

    Love Beyonce. Brandy is my favourite singer

  43. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    Not only is Artpop selling less than a collection album in Christmas shopping week, but less than Mar J Flat Notes Blige, Lorde and Frozen soundtrack, I cannot.

    Monsters, I need an explanation.

  44. tyler December 17, 2013

    @Pop Royalty

    I admire the fact that you’ve been coming from a rational stand point as opposed to an emotional one. I respect that…Ima do it. Well, I’ll at least make an attempt. LMFAO!

  45. XXX December 17, 2013

    Ch… I wish you did this much dragging when that annoying Gaga fan is ACTUALLY in the post. I think everyone here knows Gaga is flopping.

  46. *ℙᏫℙ ℝᏫᎩAℒᎿᎩ* December 17, 2013

    He will Keep Talking about Artpop or gaga, Buddy this is not the Post for it, Wait till @SAM post about her, or you can have your “moment” in the Duet post Downstairs.

  47. XXX December 17, 2013

    Beyonce you should be proud of this body of work. To be honest the sales are a bonus. She proved herself on just the quality of it.

    @Pop Royalty

    I was giving Beyonce her props, the hive jumped into a Rihanna post and started their usual s***. They cannot play the victim when they are just as bad.

    Plus I never said I like Beyonce, I like her album, that doesn’t mean I like her.

    I stan for music first, the artist is only secondary.

    I don’t like Celine but I still bought some of the songs off of Loved my back to life.

  50. Molly December 17, 2013

    Enjoy the album,but cant respect her thievery.

  51. Navy Commander December 17, 2013

    To put a pic up you go to gravatar.com and make a account with the email you use to post on TGJ. Then add a pic. Whenever you use that email the pic will show up on TGJ

    Preferably, you need to use a HQ pic, because it will be Downsized.

    BEYONE’S new album will fizzle out. It is no0t very good. GGGB, LOUD, RATED R AND UNA ARE ALL BETTER. Especially GGGB

    THE ONLY GOOD SONGS ON BEY’S ALBUM ARE:

    MINE
    NO ANGLE
    FLAWLESS
    DRUNK IN LOVE
    BLOW

    XO IS NOT A HIT. It sounds like Pretty hurts and blue ivy. Same old dated ryan tedder s*** from 6 years

  57. tyler December 17, 2013

    @Lovebird girl bye! Base on ur track record, Hive or no Hive you would of found an excuse to bash Beyoncé in some regard…as usual. Wtf else is new??? Moving on –>

    Yes, Mary J Blige has the best RnB fanbase, she has NEVER Flopped. Her album sales have been consistent.

    But her vocals are still FLAT ant the Kiiii is that her Xmas album is selling more than $25 million promoed and discounted Artpop during Christmas shopping week, I cannot.

  59. Hivy December 17, 2013

    But knowing you, you will not miss a chance to Mess with them……….. I’m a NAVY and I’m totally cool with This Mess, Since Rihanna got that “ICON” award and their s*** never got to me, Totally trying to keep it cool,if you are confident Enough in your fav, you won’t let some messy haters “from whatever fanbase!” ruin your experience as a fan of that artist, as simple as that Tbh.

    I Love the album too. “Haunted/Ghost” >>>>>>

    My favs

    – Pretty (that third verse always gets me, flawless)
    – Haunted (always gives me Ray of light vibe, love it)
    – Blow (reminds me of “nobody’s business” and old school vibe, glad songs like that are making a comeback)
    – Partition (My fav song on the album after XO)
    – Rocket (Has that D’angelo vibe, this song always makes me horny lol)
    – Mine (reminds me of take care, plus I feel Drake can do no wrong, I love his album too)
    – XO (was my fav from the beginning and still it)

  69. Hivy December 17, 2013

  71. ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 17, 2013

    @RihKeeps because millions of people already paid $15.99 to see it and own it! I didn’t watch it on veto either cause I didn’t need to. Rihanna knows she HAS to give videos away for free cause no ones paying to watch her struggle to lip sync on camera…

    Est-ce que tu aimes le sexe?
    Le sexe, je veux dire l’activité physique
    Le coït, tu aimes ça?
    Tu ne t’interesses pas au sexe?
    Les hommes pensent que les féministes détestent le sexe,
    mais c’est une activité très stimulante et naturelle
    que les femmes adorent

    @Hivy:

    You are about the back of the car Life, Huh ? I love This Song and The beat is just Sick! One of my fav moments in it tbh, can’t lie.

    I love all minus “SuperPower”.

    you are the first bey stan to put “Drunk in love” at the bottom of your list, lol. 😀

    @LoveBird:

    Great Picks, I love all those for the same reasons surprisingly, but I’m not a fan of Drake i believe.
    “Blow” is The first Tracks I loved, Instant Love, such a “feel-good” track. Love Love love. “Turn The cherry Out!”.

    you both need to give “No angel” a chance, just like u i didn’t like it at first, but after couple of plays, it gets really amazing.

  84. *ℙᏫℙ ℝᏫᎩAℒᎿᎩ* December 17, 2013

  90. Loyalty December 17, 2013

    @POP Royalty I agree… Baby makin’ material <333

    @Hivy During the French part in Partition, I got my life when she did that trick on the chair lol.

  91. tyler December 17, 2013

    @ Pop Royalty

    Really??? My sis said that she felt the same way that u do earlier but Super Power is mos def my favorite track on “Beyoncé”. I think its because I envision the music video whenever I listen to it. I think that she looked awesome in that vid. Super Power, XO, and Pretty Hurts are in my top three. I like damn near every song on that album though…which is very rare, even when it comes to Beyoncé. But damn! SHE DID THAT this era. The b**** is bad!

  92. Hivy December 17, 2013

    @pop:

    I love this Moment you don’t like, “Surfboard, Surfboard”, She can get Funny you know!! She was cute in this video, stop it, nothing to dislike in it, and i liked when she was shaking her back when he was rapping “4:33 mark in vid” , i like her when she is in that phase, the Care-free one.

  95. Hivy December 17, 2013

    @Pop:
    But it makes me cringe!! Still love it though.

    Top 3 Videos:
    Haunted
    Jealous
    Partition or Pretty Hurts.

    Was really hard to choose because all the videos are good.

  96. *ℙᏫℙ ℝᏫᎩAℒᎿᎩ* December 17, 2013

    @HIVY:

    My favorite Video is “Blue”, Chessy Pick i know, Huh? But IDK, I just do love it.

    and “Pretty hurts” soon to replace it because it is just amazing, when she smashed those trophies >>> now THAT IS A MOMENT!!!!!

    Love all the vids minus “Yonce”.

  97. Bey-Minaj December 17, 2013

    @Rih Keeps Winning’ You stupid stupid woman *aloo aloo voice* of course it has more views on youtube. The whole world already saw Yonce’s videos since friday on their pcs. No need to watch it on vevo if you already got it on iTunes. All 112 countries.

    @Tyler

    I RESPECT Mariah but I will keep it 100% with these “legends” who people think are untouchable.

    Mary J Blige;

    – Has never flopped, consistent seller.
    – RnB legend
    But..
    – Vocals are FLAT AS HELL. The only song she really SANG is “No more drama”

    Mariah

    – LOTS and LOTS of respect for her
    But…
    – Her vocals are gone.

    Legends I love: Janet Jackson (my absolute fav), Donna Summer, Whitney Houston, Boyz II Men, TLC, Madonna, TUPAC, NAS and I’m getting more into rock so I might add more to that list.

    Legends I think are undeserving: Diana FLOP Ross, Cher, Celine Dion, Prince (I’ve not felt his impact, but I love that breakfast experience song)

    ———
    That’s just me.

    AMY LEE her voice>>>>>>

    I listen to every song on Fallen! and I mean every song. It is flawless.

    You should try Flyleaf. Lacey Sturm her voice is very good(before her surgery) still upset she left the band.

  116. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    The only reason there was no focus on Aaliyah is because Janet Jackson was dominating and their style was very similar.

    Her influence though is undeniable. There are many pop stars who died at around the same time but people still talk about AAliyah.

    She wasn’t very big, she was GETTING BIGGER but was cut short.

    Aaliyah is NOT a legend. If she would’ve stayed alive & did the “Goodies” & “The Evolution” albums (cause we all know if Aaliyah would’ve stayed alive Ciara would still be in atlanta pop locking) she would have become a legend. But Aaliyah is not a legend.

    Legends are people that have been in the industry for longer than 20 years. Stood the test of time & still sells records even after thier PRIME!

    “Legends are people that have been in the industry for longer than 20 years. Stood the test of time & still sells records even after thier PRIME!”

    There is no time frame for a LEGEND, What makes a LEGEND is not time frame, IT IS IMPACT AND INFLUENCE.

    Janet was HUGE in most of the 90s and she’s a LEGEND. Mariah was also hot all throughout the 90s and early 00s, she’s a LEGEND.

    IMPACT and INFLUENCE>>>>TIME FRAME

  126. Molly December 17, 2013

    Stop the Talk about Aaliyah, you all know that s*** always brings drama!!

    I believe she is an Icon because she was influential enough to be one, but a Legend? Nah, won’t overrate her that much.

    and…. Just close that topic, you all know it!! I need no headache, lol. 😀

  129. Teflon Boy December 17, 2013

    I have to agree. As you already know I have always been very questioning of Beyonce and have routinely felt a strong lack of artistic vision and integrity from her output, though unlike some straight up haters who can NEVER acknowledge any good that comes from her.., I actually did used to love her before she went solo HOWEVER I personally just became frustrated with how little she seemed to explore or dig deep in her actual music either for knew sounds or lyrical content. In general I just demand more than what she has tended to deliver on a music tip. I genuinely feel that with this project Beyonce has finally come of age and as a result finally has an organic and believable message of her own to deliver, that she can continue to build on.

    In hindsight I guess the prior eras IMO maybe with the exception of 4) were a kind of a ‘fake it til you make it’ approach regarding each album’s theme being a blanket ‘female empowerment’ message with no other real textures. It’s often assumed that if one perceives Beyonce to be fake then you’re implying that underneath it all she isn’t a nice person. That has never been the case as I’m sure she is nice.., however I’m from the school of, if you don’t have a burning desire to create art then just sit tight and enjoy family life until you have something to say, rather than ‘pretending’ just so you have something to bargain for endorsements with. From a business perspective her model has made perfect sense, in a 9-5 we can’t take breaks when we’re not passionate after all. The difference is we don’t perceive a star of her magnitude as being in the same position although on closer inspection her work ethic is probably keeping a lot of people in employment…, from a purely artistic standpoint though it would make sense that the purists among us wouldn’t enjoy the bulk of her output prior to this as it seemed to be more about ‘being out’ than having a ‘reason to be out’.

    Anyway, I love the album and the movement so I want to wish you and the rest of the Hive a congratulations, your baby has come of age.., additionally she seems to have brought a lot of us older supporters of her more lyrical work (way back during DC days) who felt let down with her solo output thus far, back to the fore:/) I just want to continue to see her grow now, as I always knew it was there. Now that she’s tapping into the beauty of taking one’s time with the music making part she’s gonna start to see her overall artistic credibility start to soar.

  130. tyler December 17, 2013

    @Lovebird

    I can respect that….didn’t expect u to be a Tupac fan though haha. Tupac’s one my favorite artist PERIOD. Not only was he an amazing lyricist and poet, he was socially conscious, that’s why I love him. As far as legends go, my faves are him, Ice Cube (I love his music and every “Friday” sequel ha!), Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Prince, Mary J. Blidge, and Toni Braxton!

  131. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    I never liked BRITNEY for her vocals, I LOVE her because she personifies a POP ARTIST, especially before the breakdown.

    When you see a Britney video or watch her on stage, you just get the feeling of a POP MEGASTAR in the room. Plus I like her song.

    I listen to music KNOWING what to expect. Sometimes when I’m in a certain mood, I can only listen to music from certain artists.

    When I’m feeling down, Natasha Beddingfield, Toni Braxton, Tamar Braxton, Alexandra Burke, Whitney Houston, Usher to name a few are my best friends.

    When I want to listen to a FANTASTIC SOLID ALBUM which I know I’ll enjoy from beginning to end, EMELI SANDE is the girl.

    10.) Luther Vandross (The Greatest Male Voice I’ve Ever Herd)

  133. Loyalty December 17, 2013

    @Lovebird I respect that. But once again, its mainly because of her death that people quote her. Her death had more impact than her career. It sounds blunt, but she was just getting started.

    To be a legend you have to have had that career and impact. Unfortunately, she didn’t. She was taken away. Aaliyah was just like a young Janet Jackson, there’s not anything she is iconic for, she did not have that, she didn’t really crossover outside of the black community or overseas properly either.

    I don’t want to sound messy, but if you think Aaliyah qualifies as a legend then I don’t ever want to see you come for the Hive if they call Beyoncé a legend.

    If you compare the music from Ciara – The Evolution to her other stuff, save for “Ciara”, you would know why she fell off.

    She moved from her best work “The Evolution” (YOU COULDN’T ESCAPE “LIKE A BOY”) to her worst work “Fantasy Ride” and never really improved after that.

    Ciara would have been a strong comeback if she chose the following as singles;

    – Body Party
    – Overdose
    – Read my lips
    – Livin it up

    and left “Sorry” on the album, those ratchet singles she chose weren’t appealing to anyone.

    As Britney proved with “Circus”, a strong comeback is very much possible.

    I get what you mean and I’m starting to understand your style a little better.

    If I’m in an energetic mood, I put LOUD on repeat with some songs from TALK THAT TALK (including the ratchet ones) and MUSIC OF THE SUN.

    Plus some other artists like Kelly Rowland, Taio Cruz, Kylie Minogue, Madonna and Nicki Minaj to name a few. The high energy fun stuff that puts me in a don’t care mood.

    Kelly Rowland messed up though, Alexandra Burke wanted to be the modern day Donna Summer but there already is one and her name is Kelly Rowland.

    If only she can dump the RnB s** songs and go the dance route like she’s meant to be, she could be in her own lane by now and on a European Arena tour, her voice is better suited that way.

    What a feeling, Commander, Down for whatever, Love takes over>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    @HIVY… I must be honest I only respect Madonna. But I hate all her music except maybe Ray Of Light album & Vogue. Even tho Madonna is the most successful, I still enjoy Janet wayyyy more. I tried to force myself to like Madonna but my body & soul just dont like her. But for some reason I love Janet Jackson whose vocals are way smaller than Madonna (which is a bad thing)…

    I dont really like white artist in general. Unless they are soul/R&B singers. Maybe thats why I never connected with Madonna, she is way to POP for my taste.

  170. Toto December 17, 2013

    Over the weekend, Beyoncé’s new “visual album” – dropped on fans Friday morning without any advance warning – was lauded as everything from one of the best albums of the year to the future of marketing and PR. While the “surprise” strategy for releasing the album has been phenomenally successful — with Beyoncé selling over 828,000 units on iTunes in just three days – it’s actually not as innovative as you might think.

    The reason, quite simply, is that celebrities such as Beyoncé distort our notion of innovation. They are able to give us a quick head-fake and we follow along with them, desperately wanting to believe that we are witnessing a “game changer” or that we’re seeing our heroes become “trailblazers” in the market. We are fooled largely because they have so many fans and followers, so that whatever they do is magnified.

    Let’s throw some cold water on the notion that Beyoncé’s self-titled album is innovative. As a rule of thumb, anytime a celebrity gets involved in something touted as innovative and game-changing, chances are it’s already been done before. The celebrity is scaling the concept in a way that’s not possible for others.

    Take, for example, the idea of selling directly to fans, without the need for a middleman. The smartest artists already know that the most valuable assets they have is their existing fan base, and that’s why crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter are so popular — if given a chance, fans will support your work and pay for music. That’s a concept that was espoused most vocally by Amanda Palmer at this year’s TED, who argued that artists can and should be directly supported by their fans.

    Or, what about the concept that “no marketing is the new marketing”? The idea of bypassing traditional marketing channels is also something that’s been tried and done before. Thanks to social media, DIY marketing is now a staple of just about any artist, whether in music or art or film. Thanks to social media, it’s now possible to reach millions of people at little or no cost, while being able to customize a campaign in real-time if something isn’t working. As a result, Beyoncé can release a teaser video on Instagram and surprise the world.

    And the idea of getting fans to “binge” on content at one time (downloading all songs and videos all at once) is also nothing new – that’s the strategy used by Netflix when it brought “House of Cards” to market, releasing the entire series (all 13 episodes) at once rather than one episode at a time. While it’s a tribute to Beyoncé’s power as an artist that so many people opted to download the entire album at once without even hearing a single song on the radio first, the “binge” approach to content already existed.

    Is Beyoncé’s new album really a “groundbreaking way to experience music” – as touted by iTunes? The mixing together of musical tracks and videos, that’s been done before — maybe not as artfully and seamlessly as Beyoncé did it — but it’s been done before. The “groundbreaking” part of the visual album is that once you visit iTunes to download the album, you can also listen to a mix of Beyoncé’s favorite songs on iTunes Radio. But even that concept – the curated playlist – has been around for years.

    What separates Beyoncé from all but a handful of performers in the music industry is her ability to do everything on a massive scale. It’s only a few select people who can announce a holiday surprise on social media and then have fellow celebrities and fans relentlessly spread the news to their friends and followers. That doesn’t happen to everyone else. Beyoncé could have released just about anything on iTunes, and it would have sold at least 100,000 units. We’re just lucky the music was actually pretty good this time around and that it’s the holidays, when we’re all in the buying mood.

    Beyoncé’s decision to drop the album without any advance notice – getting an exclusive deal with iTunes in the process – is better viewed as a response to the changing dynamics of the music business. Beyoncé’s latest move is a business tactic, just like her husband Jay Z’s album release earlier this year, in which he released his “Magna Carta… Holy Grail” as part of a promotional stunt with Samsung to boost first-day sales as rapidly as possible. Artists are looking for ways to get paid for the music they create — and to sell as much of it as they used to back in the day.

    So good for Beyoncé, her new self-titled album is really solid work and guarantees a nice little future paycheck from iTunes. But don’t be fooled into thinking that Beyoncé has figured out something that nobody else has already figured out. It’s all the nameless artists and performers trudging around the country, playing to loyal audiences of fans in tiny venues and experimenting with new digital technologies, who are the real innovators in the music business.

    @Molly

    My mom saw zendaya on television and was really impressed. She was like who is this girl? She can really sing and dance too!

  172. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    @Tyler

    I personally feel the problem with Ciara has always been THE MATERIAL, her talent is undeniable.

    If Body Party can go Gold, and that is an RnB jam, then she can get a platinum album again.

    “The Evolution” is a good starting point.

  173. *ℙᏫℙ ℝᏫᎩAℒᎿᎩ* December 17, 2013

    @Lovebird:

    I do Love everything by USHER. 😉

    “Slow Jam” Slays too, ofc i like “Nice and slow”. Duhhh.

  174. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    @Hivy

    I think she’s awesome, very underrated.

    I like her album too, it is holding me over until R8 since it sounds so similar to songs I feel Rihanna rejected.

    “Butterflies” is my fav on the self titled album.

  175. Molly December 17, 2013

    @Hivy Yes Zendaya is very talented i guess since shes not white and taking off her clothes she doesn’t get the exposure she deserves.

  176. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    @Pop Royalty

    I know a lot of people hate him but do you like Kanye? Yeezus made me add “My big dark fantasy” to my wishlist.

  177. Hivy December 17, 2013

    I Love Usher but I prefer Mario over him even though Usher is more successful. Mario’s vocals are flawless over every track he makes.

  178. ratedx(love is beautiful) December 17, 2013

    I was laughing my ass off when I saw several stans on urban sites claiming, this album is going to put her on the same level as thriller….

    the album could have sold 3 million in 3 seconds, it’s still not going to do Adeles numbers…it took adele 2 years or less to go diamond..

    took gaga 1 year to sell 6 million with born this way

    rihanna had one album that sold less than 200k on its first week..took about a year for it to reach 6 million also

  179. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    @Molly

    I don’t think being non-white has anything to do with it, I think it’s a combination of;

    – Her single not doing well
    – Not having a HUGE show

    But RihICONna gave her a nod of approval even after Gaga dissed her on the red carpet.

  180. tyler December 17, 2013

    @Pop

    “Nice and Slow” and “You Make Me Wanna” were my JAMZ

  181. Sunny December 17, 2013

    Ciara’s career has been cursed ever since she fired Jazze Pha, Philana and other crucial members of her team. Karma is definitely taking it’s toll on Ciara. She wasn’t always the sweet, bubbly, humble girl you see today. She deserves to win, but Karma plays no games.

  182. Molly December 17, 2013

    @Lovebird i guess Zendaya is not getting the push these other Disney stars be getting but whatever.

  183. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    @Sunny

    Honestly after seeing Ciara at the BET Awards, my only thought was “this girl needs to headline her own world tour”.

  184. tyler December 17, 2013

    @Lovebird

    Do you think Ciara’s downfall has anything to do with the camp she’s with. If she had a better team I think that things would go a lot more smoothly for her……

  185. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    @Molly

    Which is unfortunate because her music is fantastic.

    I think she should pull a Miley Cyrus and LEAVE Hollywood records for RCA.

    I would say Interscope but their record of developing new artists recently is poor, they do well with already established artists. I mean just look at Natalia Kills or Carley Rae Jepsen.

    Marina should jump on Interscope, she’s already established.

  186. Sunny December 17, 2013

    Back to the topic at hand: I love, love, love, love the “BEYONCE” album. It’s risque, ratchet, emotional and sensual all at the same time. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that this is her finest work yet. I finally feel like Beyoncé is being HER! She isn’t trying hard to be the perfect pageant queen. She’s a woman. She f****. She dances. She cries. She fusses. She gets jealous. She loves her hubby. She loves her daughter. She is human like me. The Beyonce you thought you knew is dead, and I’m loving this ‘Yonce girl!!!!

    **** out of ***** stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  187. ratedx(love is beautiful) December 17, 2013

    but the carters ain’t slick, buying all those copies trying to break records and s***..

    I was having a field day today with the stans..the ones claiming everybody in the music scene uses payola except, the carters..they don’t have to buy their own s***..

    did they forget jay z had a company buy 1 million of his albums,to give them away for free just so he can claim he’s the best?

    like I said instead of using the money pepsi give her to promote her new album..the b**** used the money to buy alot of copies of her new album

  188. Hivy December 17, 2013

    Honestly Ciara’s downfall was after “Ride” was banned in some places. I love “Ride” easily better then “Body Party” in my opinon but after that a lot of people stopped using her. Then came the “Gimmie That” mess. I hated it. But Ciara can have a great come back with a proper team and dumping LA REID. She needs better material that suits her voice and some vocal training.

  189. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    @Tyler

    TBH I think Ciara has to want it.

    Ciara’s promo was remarkable, her album is good and she had LA Reid on her side.

    What didn’t help was her single choices.

    She picks “Sorry”, a solid RnB track and dumps it, she picks the mess “got me good” (which needed lots of work) and dumps it.

    She picks body party which slays urban and THAT’S THE ONLY SONG SHE PUSHES when her fans were BEGGING her to release Overdose at the time the snippet showed up.

    She had solid songs on the album, Overdose, Livin it up but made poor single choices.

    Ciara has to want it and listen to her fans more.

  190. Molly December 17, 2013

    Death how did this become a damn Ciara debate, look idk where her career went wrong i thought fantasy ride was a great album just picked wrong singles. Smh

  191. Marley December 17, 2013

    Congratulations Beyonce on all your success. Everyone was here for the album damn. You had everyone Tweeting about it. No interviews, no nothing. Smart.

    Its also an amazing piece of work. I have had it on repeat for ages.

  192. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    If she wanted an Urban song, instead of releasing “I’m out”, she should have released “Sophomore” instead.

    If she wanted Nicki Minaj to push her that much, Livin’ it up was the song to do it.

  193. ratedx(love is beautiful) December 17, 2013

    if people actually think this so call new beyonce, the rachet beyonce, is the real her..I have a bridge to sell you in iceland….

    people thinks beyonce is above every other artists..but she’s basic as f***..she uses what sells..she saw rihanna, miley, and so on being rachet and getting alot of attention, so her ass decided to do the same damn thing…

    how you go from, I will never take my clothes off to sell albums to being naked in the majority of your music videos and pictures

    and gays are not christian like to..I love the gays..she does what brings her money..this album is suppose to be a gift for her fans, and yet they still had to pay for it?

  194. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    @Hivy

    I personally think “The Evolution” was too strong a body of work that “Fantasy Ride” was underwhelming.

    That’s where it began IMO.

  195. Hivy December 17, 2013

    @Lovebird
    I think “I’m out” is awesome but she released it way to early. Read my lips or Overdose and even Livin’ it up was better choices.

  196. Marley December 17, 2013

    I also Love how it shows all her different sides, and it translate in her singing. Deffo her most real and personal.

  197. Marley December 17, 2013

    Blow
    Partition
    Mine
    Rocket
    Pretty Hurts
    Blue
    Superpower

    She definitely did a great job on this. 10s across the board.

  198. tyler December 17, 2013

    Listening to “Blue” right now. Its so cute…can’t wait to buy a physical copy of “Beyoncé”; her best work yet. 800k in just three days! That’s my dawg!!!! lolol.

  199. tyler December 17, 2013

    @Lovebird

    Good point there….that’s a real shame though. Especially since Ciara actually obtains a substantial amount of talent.

  200. Hivy December 17, 2013

    @Lovebird

    You sure have a eye for good music.

    “XO” is one of those big, boundary-obliterating pop songs that demands to be projected onto the sky, like the aural equivalent of a firework. There will be a supercut of people all over the world lip-syncing and doing cute hand motions to “XO” by the end of this week. It’s the Beyoncé cut that Ed McMahon would ride for. One of the guys from Skeleton Crew is going to propose to his girlfriend while “XO” is playing and she will say yes. “XO” is the reason why anyone you know who has said, “Yeah, but where are the hooks on Beyoncé?” did not listen to the entire album. Chris Martin is listening to “XO” right now, crying. And, because perfection is overrated, all of the flawlessness here is brilliantly undercut by that gravelly croak in her lower register when she growls, “Baby love me, lights out.” You kill us, Bey.

    Saw this somewhere.

  201. BeyRihStan December 17, 2013

    Ciara LITERALLY started flopping after she lied and said that Vibe airbrushed her clothes off on that cover back in 08. She’s played. There’s nothing she can do to come back. Just like Ashanti. She may get another minor hit but no one will buy tickets to her shows or buy her albums again. Sorry to burst yall bubbles.

  202. tyler December 17, 2013

    My mom walked in on me watching “Partition” and was like, “Is that who I think it is…this aint the Bey that I know.” LMAO.

  203. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 17, 2013

    @Hivy

    You’re too much but thanks.

    @BeyRihStan

    I don’t know about Ashanti even though I like her new song with Rick Ross, but Body Party has proven that Ciara is very capable of making a successful comeback.

    As Johnvidal says (even though I cannot stand him), you cannot stop talent.

  204. tyler December 17, 2013

    Driver Roll Up The Partition Please! I Don’t Need You Seeing Yonce On Her Knees!

  205. Hivy December 17, 2013

  208. RICHIE_RICH December 17, 2013

    Bravo , bravo glad you kids are getting along.

    This video was so cute. It’s like I just fell in love with her all over again. This is the Beyoncé I’ve been wanting to see for the longest , THE REAL BEYONCÉ . At the end of the day you don’t have to like her or care for her music , but respect should be given.

    I love every damn song on Beyoncé , 1st for any Beyoncé album.

    Hello to all.

  209. AVRIL LAVIGNE STAN December 17, 2013

    I don’t care what anyone says Avril Lavigne is way better than this long neck chick.

  210. Mazzz December 17, 2013

    ‘And I just wanna blow that s*** up’ Shes is cute haha. This is the Beyoncé we like seeing.
    I’m honestly not surprised about this album, everyone goes through an underperforming era but Beyoncé has always commanded public attention by doing the minimal, it will get blown and eaten up by the public and press (good or bad). So of course everyone was going to run to see what the hype was about, even people who are not huge fans were intrigued to buy it. And the album is great. So not hate from me, do your thing.

  211. tyler December 17, 2013

    Im outty! It was nice chatting with u guys #Luv You Like XO

  212. gman… December 17, 2013
