As the world mourns the passing of cultural icon Nelson Mandela, so too is the music industry.

During the course of his life, the anti-apartheid activist formed strong ties with Pop culture to broaden the reach of his core message – unity.

One of the many artists touched by Mandela is R&B pioneer R. Kelly.

Taking to the stage on The Arsenio Hall Show last night, the crooner performed a haunting tribute to the South African president titled ‘Soldier’s Heart’ – a song he penned for civil rights leader, and one he performed for Mandela at his house.

Watch Kelly soar after the jump…

I’m really surprise R.Kelly stills has his instrument, which is his vocals. I never heard about him using drugs, but I’m sure he had a moment. I look at Maxwell, and wondered what happen to his voice. The same thing for Mariah Carey, but I’m surprise by R. Kelly still holding onto his vocals. And, if your a true fan of Maxwell or Mariah Carey, then you know their voices are not the same. When, The “Mary” album came out I knew Mary J Blige voice was not right. But, R. Kelly a classic and music genius.
