Published: Sunday 1st Dec 2013 by Rashad

The 2013 Soul Train Awards, which aired tonight, saw R&B’s finest go head-to-head for the show’s coveted trophies.

With the likes of Urban music’s finest, including Kendrick Lamar, Tamar Braxton, Justin Timberlake, K.Michelle and more leading the nominations tally with at least 5 nods a piece, the competition was stiff in ways we’ve only seen from Britney Spears in the past.

Miguel – Best R&B/soul Male Artist

    ————————–

OK who did Miguel sleep with to win that award? Not when Francine Ocean had the better album.

The winners list looks ok apart from that one.

  11. ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 2, 2013

DEAD at FAKEmar and her ridiculous tears and speech like she won a Grammy….girl, it’s a soul train, same level as a BET award….

  12. cocobutta December 2, 2013

I guess the SOUL Train awards are the only awards that didn’t slob JT’s knob.

Nice one Tamar on awards, but that performance outfit, actually I just leave the comment positive cus chileeee lol.

Very Happy for Robin Thicke because at least one award she recognises that Blurred Lines was a HUGE hit.

    Congrats all

  13. MUSICHEAD December 2, 2013

Nah. Frank Ocean was overrated in 2012 and had no impact in 2013. Miguel had hits and sold more records in 2013 than Frank. Plus urban radio ain’t really checking for Frank like that.

  14. Nicki Minaj December 2, 2013

I don’t consider Frank Ocean’s album to be R&B/Soul. I don’t know, what do you think? It could be Pop (Michael Jackson). It’s definitely PBR&B (hipster R&B, alternative R&B) and neo soul.

  15. Nicki Minaj December 2, 2013

channel Orange was better than KD. Maybe it’s cause I’m a tumblr hipster but CO went gold without any Radio help bedsides them playing Thinking Bout You. KD sold 321K. Men Lie, Woman Lie , Numbers Don’t. Neither do the Grammy’s.

  16. How Many Drinks (Miguels Wifey) December 2, 2013

Yasss Miguel congrats babe. @Lovebird stfu Frank Ocean was overrated and overhyped.

  17. caribbean native December 2, 2013
