Ashanti’s ‘Braveheart’ Delayed Again / Bumped To March

In yet another chapter of the never-ending story, Ashanti has announced a new release date for her serially delayed ‘Braveheart’ album.

With previous dates – quite literally – spanning two years, it’s anyone’s guess if the latest will be honored. Nonetheless find out when the LP is “scheduled” to hit stores after the jump…

Speaking during a recent interview with WPGC DC backstage on site of the Grammys, the singer confirmed March 18th as the current birth-date for the project – which until now was set to arrive a month earlier on February 18th:

Sigh.

There’s little more to say that hasn’t been said already. The whole project is a mucky mess. As supporters of her talent, we just hope she’s able to mop it up is a way that minimises the muddiness of it all. For us, the answer would be a free mixtape, which she could and should follow with a properly handled album – preferably released (or at least distributed) by a major label.

In the here and now, though, Ms. Douglas should look into a radio plugger, as this practice of flinging singles on iTunes and hoping for the best has proven a fruitless exercise. How will folk invest time or funds in an album that they’ve not even heard singles from? #BeyonceAside.

Still, we wish her the best.

  4. Unbiased January 25, 2014

Ashanti needs to sign with someone or just write for other artists and live off her royalities. This is ridiculous.

  5. LiesYourTell January 25, 2014

Ashanti never gave an official album release of February 18, 2014. That was all wrong coming from ThatGrapeJuice and other blog’s because y’all want her so bad, stop making up lies about a delay, trying to make Ashanti look bad.

Nobody is checking for Ashanti, lmao I beg to differ. Y’all know what time it is #BraveHeart! #IGotIT! Rick Ross voice! ….hating in your heart, really you the target! !

The Queen of Push Backs. She snatched that crown from Mariah. Ciara is still the princess tho.

On a serious note, she’s inde, so the only person is pushing back is her. If Dawn Richard can drop lps and an album, than Ashity can too. But I’m sure even her small fans base are over her, it been 3 years.

  12. BEYONCÉ January 25, 2014

It has been 6 years since her last effort and this album was supposed to be released three years ago. No one cared then and no one cares now.

  13. _yezir January 25, 2014

This site is ridiculous. She NEVER confirmed a February date. Instead of being the negative, biased, site that you are how about you start uplifting these artist that are out here trying to make something of themselves. It makes me sick. You guys think you have ALL the answers. If you’re going to “shade” these artist, do so with them all not just Rihanna, Ashanti, Lil Kim, etc.

  14. Roi January 25, 2014

this bxtch better stay in the closet.

  15. StopLying January 25, 2014

Stop lying! She never confirmed a release date in February! If it didn’t come out of her mouth, it’s not true. Stop making s*** up!

  17. Easter Speach January 25, 2014

I’ll just die if she tries to pull a Beyonce! Ashanti, girl release this mess or just scrap it. The really messed up thing is this may be a really good album. Ashanti is a good song writer, she just can’t handle her own career.

  18. Molly January 25, 2014

This crusty ass b**** “toured – 2 dates O2 indigo “. And in Manchester in December.
Doors open at 10 bar shut at 2 this has been come on stage at 4AM! I paid for VIP the cheek of selling this pathetic artist who can’t even release an album properly. The best of it sang 3 songs well the crowd did. Most of the club left before it come on stage. I can’t wait for “Braveflop” to bomb.
The cd will be in thrift store at the time of release Julember 2034

  22. LadiiJ88 January 25, 2014

This site is so full of s***…She never gave the release date in February, it was dumbass sites like you who made up the date. You talk about how you are a supporter of Ashanti but you continue to shade her with every article you post about her. No matter she does, you can’t help but to compare her Beyonce when clearly she’s trying to be herself.

  23. VANNY January 25, 2014

wow its hilarious how u stan for such a flop jajajajajajaj

  24. kareem January 25, 2014

  26. ~The arcade~ January 25, 2014

“Braveheart”… oh the irony of her naming the album that. *SIGH*

  27. umm..no January 25, 2014

She need to do as many features as possible, sing the hooks of as many songs as possible, be on as many mix-tapes as possible. She seems so old and dusty now and she’s really quite young.

  28. Alex January 25, 2014

    One can only laugh

  29. Arie January 25, 2014

I wish her nothing but success.

  30. hugs January 25, 2014

Why is she still pushing this album?
It’s been in the making for over 6 years and none of the songs released for it has charted.
Who is managing her? Why are they not being honest with her? I mean at this point she is looking at another flop, let’s not forget the last era being terrible and more than 5 years later the album being stuck at barely 300,000 in the Us.

Indie isnt for every artist, she needs a major label behind her.

  31. B’ROCKA SLAYS January 25, 2014

    Dear Ashanti,
I have been waiting for your album since 2008
but since Tatyana Ali can come back before you did…I’m Done
    BRAVEHEART 2034!

  32. MJ January 25, 2014

When did she say the album was coming out in February though? I’ve been searching for the video proof, but can’t seem to find a credible source.. Please link the video!

  33. Dezi January 25, 2014

@ ALAN -That has been can go places your crusty ass can’t even go so your comment is a flop BOOM!

  34. FutureCIARA January 25, 2014

Whether she confirmed a release date for Feb. or not,

Artist need to learn to shut the f*** up and let the project be released when its ready, All this pre uncertain promotion is only hurting the project and the artist!!!

When will they learn. Nobody will continue to check for a project after its been pushed back 89029084328974287428197428913 TIMES!!!!

  35. anonyous January 25, 2014

Girl just drop this album or go retire and live off your royalties. this is rediculous. I was rooting for your comeback and its been like 2 years since the first single off this album was released. At this rate you will flop worse than Ciara. Braveheart 2025 will probably open up with 12k in the first week.
