Are sales of Mariah Carey‘s forthcoming LP doomed?
If the quality of singles ‘Beautiful’ and ‘You’re Mine’ are anything to go by, the answer to that uncomfortable question is no.
Alas, as many a ‘music head’ will know all too well, the quality of one’s music means very little on a commercial front, if the consumer simply isn’t into it.
It’s for this reason, Camp Carey may have a problem on its hands today, now that her brand new single has slipped, tripped and dipped out of iTunes USA less than a week after its release.

Despite launching an intense promo assault to push the release last week, today has seen the phenomenal number slide out of the ‘Top 100‘, as the public’s interest in it dies with every passing hour.
Unfortunately, not even the release of its Trey Songz– assisted video could do enough to keep the song on the charts, bowing out as his own new single ‘Na Na‘ sits at #93 on the official chart, and 3 on its R&B arena.
Why ‘Mine’s chart exit is so problematic? Well, with its supporting LP set for release on May 6th, Carey now has less than four months to convince the general public to purchase the project, as to avoid the commercial bomb her career (and ego) simply wouldn’t be able to handle.
This, especially in light of the ‘mega-sellers’ that are ‘Beyonce’ and ‘The 20/20 Experience’, albums Carey’s will no doubt be compared to if it fails to fare to just as well.
In better news, fans of Pop sensation Katy Perry will be pleased to learn that her smash hit ‘Dark Horse‘ now sits at iTunes USA, one spot away from topping the chart, but is currently blocked by Pharrell Williams‘ ‘Happy.’
In at #11 is Beyonce‘s ‘Drunk in Love’, while Perry nabs a second spot in the Top 40 as ‘Roar‘ does just that at #31!

It is my understanding that Mariah tried several times to help her sister get her life sorted–including paying for rehabs. It is down to Mariah and Nick who they want in their children’s lives. Addicts are notorious for coming out crying if they think they can shame a dime out of someone. It’s a shame that this is the state of their relationship, but I can understand if Mariah decided that enough is enough. I used to be the biggest Mariah fan back in the day. I bought all of her albums up to TEOM. At this point though, I am pretty tired of her. She’s stuck in this crappy hip hop/R&B rut.
