After much speculation, it has finally been confirmed – Nicole Scherzinger has signed with Sony Music.

Details on the singer’s major new deal and forthcoming album after the jump…

In a statement released by the performer’s press team moments, ago rumours of her departure from former recording home Interscope were confirmed.

Scherzinger has now shuffled over to Sony’s RCA Records, where she has signed a multi-album contract.

Fans of the star, who appeared on two seasons of The X Factor UK without pushing new music (the reasons for which now make sense), will be rewarded for their patience this Summer. For, it has been revealed that that is when the lead single from the diva’s new album will arrive.

And while details about the project had been shroud in secrecy, today also brought with it confirmation that hitmakers The-Dream and Tricky Stewart are taking the helm of the LP, serving as executive producers.

Speaking about his new acquisition, RCA Records president Colin Barlow gushed:

“We are delighted that Nicole has joined the Sony family. She truly is one of the greatest singers in the world and we are very excited by the record she is currently making”.

The as-yet-untitled set serves as Scheringer’s second, following 2011’s ‘Killer Love’. Although, for many, it’s her third, given the slew of singles released in 2008 from the infamous ‘Her Name Is Nicole’ sessions. As widely reported, the LP never hit stores and she returned to the Pussycat Dolls.

Still, apples and oranges, ay?

Given the length and breadth of Nicole’s talent, we’re eager to hear what she’s been cooking up. Having Dream & Tricky attached is an immediate win and points perhaps to a more Urban/Pop lean. Here’s it’s third time lucky for Nicole.

Editor’s Note: As at writing, it’s not yet been ascertained whether Scherzinger is signed by way of the UK label (which will distribute globally) or whether, like Pharrell Williams’ recent Sony deal, she is jointly signed in the UK and US to different labels under the Sony umbrella. What is certain, though, is that she is coming in a major way.

Why is she still trying? Wasn’t boomerang enough of a sign that the public will throw back the boring music she forces on us?

why is she working with the Dream?!
Besides the flawless Electric Red album he is a sucky producer in my eyes!

Congrats to Nicole. I think she is so actually talented. She can sing, dance, and she’s beautiful. I don’t know she is working with The Dream though. I’m sick of their sound. It’s everywhere. She should give new producers or even relatively other new producers (Ne-Yo, Keri Hilson, Frank Ocean) a chance. Also a Mike Will, Timbaland, or even try Pharrell (look what he did for Robin Thicke & the Happy single is #1 on iTunes now). That’s my two cents. Good luck. I’m actually looking forward to giving it a listen.

Meh. She really does nothing for me as a solo artist and The Dream gives his best work to Rihanna and Beyonce. I kinda feel bad for her because she’s been grinding since Popstars in 2001.

It’s not happening for you Nikki.

Why would she sign with an overpopulated label like RCA, where she won’t be a priority? Seriously, RCA is *not* the “go-to” label that everyone thinks it is. They still haven’t learned how to maintain all the acts they inherited after Arista, Jive and J. folded into it.

I’m excited to see what she has to offer this go around. With good producers and a killer single she can definitely do well! I’ve loved her since Eden’s Crush so I’m always rooting for her to win!

Why did she leave Interscope? She’s been with them since being with the Pussycat Dolls & was the only one that got signed as a solo artist too, even though Melody did receive a solo deal from Interscope but she declined it according to her VIBE interview. I heard they spend over 2 million on Nicole’s solo career but when her singles failed in the US in 2007 some of the songs ended up on Doll Domination instead & were renamed as Pussycat Dolls songs. I guess that’s why Melody only sang on a few of the tracks. I don’t know why her second solo album was not released in the states since ‘Right There’ were a hit for her. Hopefully she gets to release an album in the states someday. I’d rather see a Pussycat Dolls’ reunion though…Her & Melody were the best singers in Pussycat Dolls.
