Kelis continues her soulful re-incarnation in the video for new song ‘Jerk Ribs’.
Unveiled on via TIME today, the visual is the first to be lifted from new album ‘Food’ (due April 21st via Ninja Tune). The project’s second single ‘Rumble’ will see its own clip debut at a later date.
Shot with a behind-the-scenes theme, Kelis explained that “this song is the cornerstone of my album. So I wanted the video to look like my life, my love — back to the beginning.”

Interesting. Liking the funkified flavour of ‘Food’ so far. That said, we’re still awaiting a song and video from the project that boasts enough pepper and spice to really rouse us in the way we know Kelis can.

i like the raw feel of the video. a polished video wouldn’t have made sense. this song is maybe the best of her career so i’m into it.

completely agree! i bet their tones would blend really well. i think kelis blends well with anyone. she recorded a remix with bjork of her song oceania and it was incredible. if you can blend with bjork, you can blend with anyone.
