Bow Wow Labels Himself A…Legend

In an era defined by VEVO views, social media, and ample propaganda, the word “legend” has arguably become diluted.

Indeed, there’s something to be said when the term (along with phrases such as “icon”) are lauded on questionable talents such Rihanna.

Yet, even Ms. Fenty has more of a claim to the word that the latest abuser of the term – Bow Wow.

The 106 & Park host, who hasn’t released charting material in years, caused quite the response on Instagram this week when he christened himself a legend.

Details below…

It’s the shot below that sent relative shockwaves (and LOL’s) through the social media site:

bow-wow-legend-2

Granted Bow Wow has achieved more than he is often credited for, the fairytales and fallacies embedded in that hashtag are of Disney proportions.

Legendary status cannot be spoken in to existence. Nor can contemporary relevance. Especially with a Kids Choice Award in one’s hand.

If that’s what Bow is striving for, then he has his work cut out for him. After all, the last many remember of his charting days is….

Yeah.

This homophobic c*** is nothing else than a hateful piece of s***, he did have some bops in the past but if HE’S a legend than everyone out right now and doing their thing is a legend, he needs an humble pie and sleep in it, I can’t stand this b**** ass n***a

  8. Lily March 26, 2014

Poor Bow Wow. He’s claiming 106&Park this sh*t hasn’t achieved any Legendary status. Associating yourself with Uncle SnoopDogg, P.Diddy or Jay Z can’t make you a Legend. Work for it and you will Achieved that #LEGENDARY STATUS. Bow Wow, Chris Brown etc are all the same. I dislike self proclaim pathetics b****** and Sons of a Gun.

  9. 2bad2bme March 26, 2014

Ok, how are you a legend with not one Grammy award?, your only BET Award was a viewer’s choice award back in 2001, you never had a #1 hit on Hot 100. Your last platinum album was your second which was “Doggy Bag” back in 2001. This is why I need him to disappear! He is still stuck on yesteryear when no one cares. What are you accomplishing now? Bye Felicia!

    • Bob March 26, 2014

Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and more have 0 Grammys. Grammys don’t mean s***

  10. Stoner March 26, 2014

He’s no legend but I respect him because he’s done pretty well for himself. Most child stars drop off the face of the earth or succumb to drugs but he’s had a pretty decent acting career and kept himself relevant. He’s cocky, but I feel like it’s a defense mechanism for whenever n***** try to play him. He did his thing as a t*** and you can’t take that away from him.

  11. I be laughing March 26, 2014

the real kii, is that people are runnin down his resume or lack of from behind a computer, living basic lives in comparison to bow Wow kiiiiii
Y’all should stop but I doubt you all will, so carry on

  12. RancorNV March 26, 2014

No, just no. Legends don’t go from being recording artists to VJ’s by the time they’re 20. Sorry Bow Wow, but even Bieber is more of a “legend” than you are.

  13. kimbella March 26, 2014

Delusional ass you host 106 & park yet you are supposed to be a rapper/ actor?

  14. IStanForYourFav March 26, 2014

Uh O.K. I guess he could be a legend under certain circumstances. He is a child star legend, but I wouldn’t say he is an adult legend lol. However, there are different levels of legendary status. I.E.
Icon: Etta James, Mahalia, Aretha, etc
    Next league: MJ, Madonna, Whitney
Next league: Mariah, Toni, etc. (They are very close)
Next league: Britney, Beyoncé, XTina, etc
Now: Rihanna, Katy, etc (building to become a legend)

At least that’s how I see it.

    • XoMoDe March 26, 2014

lol Katy Perry and Rihanna aren’t legends, nor are they building to become.

      • kimbella March 26, 2014

They are building to become legends stop being blinded by hate.

  15. lovebird March 26, 2014

I agree with him, I heard he’s a legendary bottom.

I heard that ass so tight and clean, you can put a niddle in there and he’ll orgasm.

    • kimbella March 26, 2014

      Lmao clock ha sis.

  16. XoMoDe March 26, 2014

Clearly Bow Wow is one of those people who have to give themselves credit because they feel no one else will. The truth is that he was just a scaled down, latter day version of Kris Kross, minus-one. Truth be told, his once rival Lil Romeo (now just Romeo) has ultimately had a more notable career than he has.

  17. LAX March 26, 2014

    BOW WOW=LEGEND STATUS

  18. h2o March 26, 2014

    He is.

  19. Applause March 26, 2014

What makes bow wow a legend cause he was in a couple of movies and had like 3 hit songs? Nah you aren’t legend worthy smh they’ll be calling 2 chainz a legend next.

  20. IStanForYourFav March 26, 2014

My main problem with a lot of these “icons”, “queens” “kings,” & etc is that they truly believe the words they are saying. No matter how washed up people call these artists, they have successfully contributed to music history in some type of way with their TALENT. This means, they can flop today and still have an impact. Bow Wow can’t do that. He had some songs; I’ll admit that. But no sir to a true legacy. A lot of people tie being a legend to your album sales. If that was the case, then only 4 women (Madonna, Mariah, Whitney, & Celine) and only2 men (Michael and Elvis) could claim to be legend. Their impact>>>>>> Tina, Etta, Aretha, Diana, and more don’t even receive the credit for their legacy and impact. This idiotic behavior is what made blog sites like this popular so dumb people could come and call Aretha a drag queen, call Mariah fat, call Whitney a crackhead, MJ a whacko, and etc. It’s actually tear jerking bc they worked so hard (regardless of Payola connections) to inspire so many people outside the industry. With that being said to this new generation where everyone is a Queen, Icon, or King… Whitney has IWALY, Mariah has Hero, Celine has MHWGO, Janet has Together Again & Rhythm Nation, Aretha has Ain’t No Way, Etta has At Last, Prince has Purple Rain, MJ has Thriller, Mimnie has Lovin’ You, Sade has Your Love is King, and etc. WTF does your fav have?

  22. Molly March 26, 2014

My favorite bow wow song is outta my system.

  23. Fancy March 26, 2014

Bow Wow was a t*** icon and early 2000s staple along with B2K. Now, not so much but atleast he’s still working unlike the latter??? LOL

  24. Dem Lessors March 26, 2014

Holding a Nickelodeon award, that’s the picture you’d chose to caption #Ledgend. Ok, if that’s your recipt LMFAO!

  25. Mark111 March 26, 2014

    Gaga fans are talking? Hahahaha

How should I say this? Could you call him something? He was 13 when he came out in hip hop. I think there will never be a young “rapper” to start put at 13 and have a career (short, but career) that he had. I can’t give him the L word, but iconic child rapper star????

I gott it, a hip hop t*** star, there you go. But let’s be honest here, Brandy fans can’t talk. Brandy hasn’t had a successful album nor song after the age 19. Miley is barely getting by and o think JB has reached the end as well.

Funny cause J.Cole, Drake and other are his peers, lol. I hope he put money back from those t*** years.

    • ROSEGOLD March 26, 2014

Untruths. Full Moon was a platinum selling album with only two singles (23 years old). Right Here Departed was a hit and so was Put It Down. Brandy fans can talk because she is much more iconic and successful than Bow Wow will EVER be. EVER!

      • ROSEGOLD March 26, 2014

Afrodisiac also went gold when she was 25 years old. I don’t even see Brandy fans in here. You’re always shading Brandy. Who’s to say Aaliyah wouldn’t have had the same fate if she were still alive? Chill.

      • Mark111 March 26, 2014

That sounds good by todays terms, but at each era of those albums, they were flops. Afrodisiac went gold while Goodies went 3X Plat. Full Moon sold a million while Ashanti sold 8 million. So back to my point, Brandy hasn’t done anything after the age of 19, every hype she had was in her t*** years.

On Aaliyah, she had a #1 hit at age 21 and a films lined up before she passed. So what YOU should be asking why in a short amount of time did Aaliyah became a actress, had films lined up and lead roles faster than Brandy even today? Brandy is nothing more than a old t*** star/ tv actress, basicly no different from those Disney girls. Sorry not sorry.

      • Courtney March 26, 2014

Aaliyah’s album and single was flopping until she died. She would have been in the same boat(no pun intended) as Brandy, Monica and Mya.

      • Mark111 March 26, 2014

Countney BOO! How was she flopping with a hit single year after year on soundtracks and a #2 album and went gold in 4 weeks with 1 single that didn’t even chart high? The Aaliyah album set the standard for the Ashunti, Beyonce, Ciara and Rihanna albums to come after, so no, she wouldn’t had ended up like Brandy cause Brandy was already done. Mya was never here and Monica had success with the #1 album After the Storm and wne t gold with Still Standing. When Still Standing dropped, peole were even saying could Brandy come back since Monica is doing well now? Monica messed up when she worked with Brandy, she had a hit with Kesha Cole and had R&B hits on her own, she didn’t start flopping til she worked with Brandy again.

Brandy is the queen of has beens.

    • Courtney March 26, 2014

Honey her album shipped gold in four weeks, but it didn’t sell gold. It didn’t start SELLING until she passed. #fact. Y’all bash Nicki and Gagas shipments but Aaliyah’s count? No ma’am. WNAR was flopping like hell and Alicia Keys was coming in to scoop the queen of R&B title. “Fallin” was everywhere. No one was worried about Aaliyah!! All of the fake fans came outta the blue on August 25, 2001. I know, because I was surrounded by them. Brandy is a has been boo boo, never denied that but Aaliyah wasn’t that popping with her non-singing ass. Sorry, NOT sorry.

      • Mark111 March 26, 2014

If what yo say is a fact, then you wouldn’t mind citing a source would you? Cause what you speak is b*******! lol.

The album did 187K the first week and came in at #2 on the charts. WNAR poeaked at 59, mind you she didn’t promote much cause she was filming the Matrix.

“The album’s sales skyrocketed after Aaliyah’s death. BEFORE her death, its sales had been diminishing since the album’s release in July,[53] and stood at more than 447,000 copies sold.[65] News of her death was reported on the last day of Nielsen SoundScan’s sales tracking week, during which Aaliyah sold 62,000 copies, a 41.5% increase from its past week’s sales.[66] The following week, it sold 305,500 copies and ascended from number nineteen to number one on the Billboard 200” -Billboard

So like I said, it was at gold with no hit in 4 weeks BEFORE she passed. Yes AK was HUGE that year, but she was in a differnt lane, more of a young soul than R&B. Don’t you just love FACTS? 🙂

      • Courtney March 26, 2014

Yet sales skyrocketed after she passed. Those numbers are a flop in 2001 terms. That’s why they rushed to film other videos because her album wasn’t selling! That would’ve been cute in 2013. 😉 Post the entire article why don’t ya? Aaliyah only flourished on 106 and Park. Destinys Child and AK flourished on the hot 100.

      • Mark111 March 26, 2014

No h**, you been checked. You said it didn’t sell gold when it did. It was only 4 weeks and with the Rock the boat it would’ve went plat in no time. All three of her albums were double plat, that’s consistency like Rihanna , VS hype/peak at the moment like Ashanti and Ciara.

AK is a great artist and had the biggest song of that year, I’m not mad, hell I’m a fan of her’s too. DC was a group that went pop and was in the news cause of the break up, so there’s no point of bring them up, what? Are you gonna bring up Nsync and Britney sales too? I love how you went from Brandy, Mo and Mya and now trying to throw AK and DC in it. I’m sorry that Brandy Full moon flopped and that she’s just a ex t*** star. Facts are facts.

      • Mark111 March 26, 2014

And EVERYONE sales after their death, all of MJ albums returned to the top 10 on the Pop charts after his, Houston Greatess Hits that was a flopp peaked at #2 the week of her death. Same with Amy Whinehouse. You haters try to say that Aaliyah didn’t sell s*** until after her death when in fact she had two double plat albums and a gold before her death( that was gonna go plat anyway). Stay mad, lol.

      • Courtney March 26, 2014

You didn’t check me! Just like no one was checking for Aaliyah h** ass lmao. I brought up Mya, Monica and Brandy because they are 90s hasbeens just like Aaliyah would have been dearie. F*** you keep bringing up Brandy for? I haven’t checked for her since Full Moon.

    • RoyalKev March 26, 2014

I truly loved Aaliyah, but there’s no way she would have ended up becoming bigger than Brandy in the last decade. She would have been pulling in numbers that Bran and Mo do today (2014)! I brought that ‘Aaliyah’ album the first day it was available and I recall how disappointed I was to see it sell under 200K debut week. It rapidly started declining on the BB200. The album was full of potential, but there’s no doubt in my mind that it would have under-performed had she still been alive. Aaliyah had some mainstream single success with ‘Try Again’ (in 2000), but it was her only top 10 on the Hot 100 after releasing the last 5 singles of her career before passing (We Need a Resolution #59, Come Back in One Piece #117, I Don’t Wanna #35, Are You That Somebody #21) and this was the case during a time when R&B artists had commercial success. Yes, Bran was on a decline somewhere around the mid 00’s, but her impact was already made. She’s the only one in the pack seeing superstar ww sales (NSN, 16x) and earning 2 multi-plat albums & an additional plat album (before the album left the charts within the year it arrived and not gradually). Aaliyah would have certainly had my support if she was still here, but it doesn’t appear that her fate would be any different from most 90’s singers (unless she had started out on a much bigger level than that she had reached).

      • Mark111 March 26, 2014

I have to disagree. The whole point was that I stated that Brandy career is no different from Bow Wow’s, they peeked in their teens and fell off after. Everything you stated about Brandy was before the age 20. YEs she sold a million more than Aaliyah, but let’s not forget that Brandy had pop, t*** sounding songs with a t*** TV show. Like I stated, no different from a disney star like Miley or Duff.

Aaliyah sold those numbers with no hit single, yet people want to compare her to Keys that had the biggest song that year and DC for whatever reason. No one said that Aaliyah was a fast seller, but a steady one. Non of those 90’s girls had huge first week sales, Full Monn sold 155K the first week and took 5 months to go gold. While Ashanti sold 500K a month later, but with a huge hit(s).

    • RoyalKev March 26, 2014

I usually agree with you, but I can’t on this occasion. It’s odd that this is happening with an artist I genuine respect and don’t care to discredit. Still I’m just stating facts. Bran’s first 2 albums (‘Brandy’ & ‘NSN’) sold 4 and 5 million respectively in the U.S. That’s not only 1 million more than Aaliyah (both her albums only went double plat in the U.S.). Bran’s Full Moon was stacked with hits, that could have easily been a multi-platinum seller if she wasn’t pregnant. She only released 2 singles off that project. Bran was still very relevant during FM (and she was 23 years of age by then). She best Aaliyah during their run in their charting prime. If Aaliyah was the late bloomer that you believe she was none of that big promise reflected in her BB success near the end. Her death saved that album. Rock the Boat & More Than A Woman were really the only 2 radio-friendly songs on that album (although that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t a masterpiece) . Those songs from the album weren’t so straight forward and Aaliyah didn’t have the status to sell using just her name. It would have been hard to promote that cd at that stage of her career. If Aaliyah continued on she might have been able to snag a #1 album (like Mo did with After the Storm in ’03) or rack up another hit (like Bran did with What About Us in 2002) down the line, but Aaliyah wouldn’t likely be one of today’s front runners in music.

      • RancorNV March 27, 2014

Brandy’s debut album is *certified* 4x platinum but actually only sold 2 million-something. To this day, it still hasn’t sold close to its total shipment. I don’t know the figures for NSN, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the scenario repeated again there too. And lets not blame FM’s underperformance on Brandy’s pregnancy, because by THAT time she should have been big enough to sell on her name alone. Both of the singles from that album (“What About Us” and the title track) were lackluster and didn’t catch on the same way her previous songs did. Even if she hadn’t been pregnant, that album would have still seen a steep decline from the previous one.

Aaliyah had several movies lined up for her plus her album 1st week numbers were better than any of her other multi-platinum albums and her last album was certified faster than any of her previous work. Aaliyah was a slow mover but at the end of the day she always had hits and great album success. Her fan base was continuing to grow before she died and she had a unique style musically and fashion wise that allowed her to stand out, now her promotion wasn’t as good as it needed to be any Aaliyah fan will tell you that she normally performs her 1st singles before or after her album drops but she didn’t get to perform WNAR like she was planned to at the VMAS that year.
