Watch: Pink Soars ‘Over The Rainbow’ At Oscars 2014

Published: Monday 3rd Mar 2014 by Sam

Pop powerhouse Pink is renowned for going airborne at award shows, however the singer let her voice do the flying at the Oscars 2014 tonight.

The  34-year-old was tapped to perform ‘Wizard of Oz’ classic ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ as part of an Academy tribute to celebrate the movie’s 75th birthday this year.

Standing before an audience that included the children of the Judy Garland –  who starred in the film and originally performed ‘Rainbow’ – Pink thrilled with a showing that further cements her as one of today’s top talents.

Peep the performance after the jump…

  3. Thando March 3, 2014

Didn’t Beyonce get a standing ovation when she performed “Learn to be lonely” by Sir Lloyd Weber (who was on the piano that night) at the Oscars?

  4. applause March 3, 2014

Yawn. Pink been in the game for like 15 years and still hasn’t made the type of IMPACT that GAGA has made.

  5. applause March 3, 2014

Oh and her putting on a dress doesn’t make her look any less like a Dike.

  6. applause March 3, 2014

  15. Realest March 3, 2014

She sounded good but I won’t lie I was bored half way through, wish she woulda jazzed it up or made it her own a lil more. But Pink is a singer so whatever- still love her and glad she didn’t ascend from the ceiling this go Round

  16. The Navy March 3, 2014

Beyonce is so trying hard…just like Mariah.

  17. Realest March 3, 2014

Trying hard? Two words that never go in the same sentence as Rihanna and vocals. Maybe she should try some “trying” for once and with hard on her NOcals (vocals) and maybe she would be able to be know for her voice and not her Instagram. IJS

  18. Navy Commander March 3, 2014

Rihanna got a standing ovation at the Grammys sis, try again.

  19. Navy Commander March 3, 2014

But Rih’s last public performance may have Been the best of her career and her vocals were great .

  20. Yawn March 3, 2014

    who cares about Gaga…

  21. Wendy Williams’ Tea March 3, 2014

Yaaasss, one of the best performances in the Oscar’s history.

Effortless and heartfelt without trying hard.

  22. Wendy Williams’ Tea March 3, 2014

The real impact Gaga made…cancelling her BTW Ball Tour due to a hip injury at the age of 26 and wasting $25 milion of Interscope marketing cost for her…. ARTFLOP.

  23. Lolz March 3, 2014

Lol Beyonce has had standing ovations countless times have several

  24. PhuckAHater March 3, 2014

You obviously need a hobby you hating ass b****. Gaga has nothing on Pink and never will. Her singing will never be on Pinks level you dumb c***. Go play!!!

  25. Bey Fan March 3, 2014

Pink did good…. I think SOTR is one of the most boring songs… But its a classic.. Judy and Patti were the best. I loved Beyonce’s rendition. I was kinda bored with Pink, but it had nothing to do with her vocals…she sounded really really good.

  26. HIMEROS March 3, 2014

Wendy fat please. That 25 million was a lie,it was proven by interscope to be a myth. Check wendy’s flop TV show before you check lady gaga

  27. HIMEROS March 3, 2014

Was just happy that pink didn’t do her flying lesbian GIMMICK again. It’s literally so tired.

  28. Mark111 March 3, 2014

I like P!nk, she’s a true artist and one of the best entertainers out right now, but her voice is too ruff for this song. I know she can sing, but this is a classical broadway type song. I don’t want to bring her up, cause everyone does, but Beyonce is a great example of having full control and knows when to have funk in her voice and when to have clean, smooth notes (what this song calls for). I love Alicia Keys, but even she would sound bad singing this song.

Gags stans (all 600K of them, judging how bad ArtPoop sold) can’t come for P!nk who been in the game for 14 years when Garbage fizzled out within 5 years. Mind you that Britney, Xtina and Jessica are P!nk peers and where are they now? Now please go buy another copy of Aren’tPopping in the discount $5.99 bin.

  30. REALTALK March 3, 2014

Absolutely true!!!! But she should stop hating on other artist cause it’s not a good look for he.

  31. REALTALK March 3, 2014

Pink is good but not in Beyonce’s league!!!!!!!

  32. JOHNVIDAL March 3, 2014

She can sing and she did good, but she doesn´t move me, she just doesn´t. I just can´t get over the fact her music is so average, uninteresting to me and never innvotive or impacting, she´s either too safe, or just boring.
Why did the first comment have to name Gaga? Why the hate? If anything say she looked fabulous in the red carpet (way better than Pink) and move on. If anything: yes Gaga has made more impact no matter the situation now, and is a better musician than Pink, Pink´s voice is not even much better than Gaga´s, and that´s the only musical talent she is supposed to have on her side over Gaga.

  33. 4everYoung March 3, 2014

Love Pink version of this. good job!! However Brandy version of this to me hands down is one of the best!!! I gives me chills each time. You can watch here..tell me what you think?

Idk how many times ppl counted P!nk out and continues to remain relevant. Britney, Xtina and Jessica Simpson were shitting on P!nk between 1999-2004, but where are they now. P!nk and Beyoncé have always been on the same level. P!nk has sold more albums, has more hit singles and a higher touring gross, Beyoncé just has more endorsements and more awards. What’s sad is that P!nk’s flop (Try This) which has sold 800k in the US and 2.5 mil WW is the standard for what for these girls are selling nowadays.
Can’t Take Me Home 2.5 mil US/5 mil WW
