Whitney is just too great and unique. Once in a lifetime pop singer. It´s not a good look for all these girls when they try it.
Nothing wrong at all with tributing someone who you love and inspire as Whitney did with Chaka Khan, Dolly Parton and a number of other of her favorites. It’s about showing love and respect and honoring them for their greatness. Every great singer has done it and should have it done to them. Stop being negative!

I’ve never understood why fans give so much crap to artists who pay tribute to their inspirations by way of covering a song etc. It’s not about trying to outdo the original but rather, it’s their interpretation of the song that matters while staying true to the core essence of the track. It’s only when they are outright butchering said tribute that there should be an issue and in this young woman’s case, she’s singing this classic it the best of her ability. It’s unfair to reduce them paying respect to trying to replace the original.
I know that. It´s ok that they do it, as a tribute. But I also said an universal truth, to praise Whitney basically. Nothing negative.
Stop hating. Its for a musical. Shes not trying to be on Whitneys level shes playing a character who sings that song. And she did great.

I appreciate the effort, but I found this rendition of Whitney’s classic a little difficult to listen to. Alexandra’s certainly not a bad vocalist at all though.
