Alas, when one considers the time, money and planning that goes into completing an album, one wonders just how unbothered the superstar will be when she learns of her new LP’s ‘AKA‘ first week digits today.

Debuting at #6 on the ‘Billboard 200′, the Urban-kissed ‘AKA‘ opened with 33,815 units this week, placed five spots beneath Lana Del Rey’s ‘Ultraviolence’ which came in at #1 with 181,622 copies sold.
Doing so without the benefit of an ‘On the Floor‘- sized lead single, ‘AKA‘s opening numbers come three years after 2011’s ‘Love?‘ opened with 83,100 units, and 13 years after her sophomore set ‘J.Lo’ claimed the #1 spot with the help of 272,300 music lovers.
Quite interestingly, while marking a commercial low for the entertainer, the album received a rating of 78/100 from ‘Billboard‘, while nabbing a ‘D‘ from ‘Entertainment Weekly.’
On lower ground, Mary J.Blige’s ‘Think Like a Man Too’ soundtrack opens with 8,181 copies moved while Mariah Carey‘s, ‘Me.I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse’ spends this week at #42, after shifting 5,699 units.

This is why I feel like Adele sold so well and why frozen has been selling well because the music is of amazing quality and the entire album is amazing and wasn’t built for the charts. Music stopped selling when the rules changed and music became readily available for free online. A lot of factors played in the demise of sales, but music shows weren’t a big percentage imo.
