Jason Derulo On ‘BET Awards’: “I’m Almost Done With It”

On a singles tip, very few have enjoyed a run half as impressive as Jason Derulo‘s.

However, the fact remains that when it comes to albums, the entertainer is one of the lowest selling acts of all time, with his sales still yet to cross the 1 million unit mark in the US even when sales from all three of his LPs are combined.

Could this be the reason ‘BET’ is yet to embrace the well behaved star?

That may be the question many of his fans ask themselves today, after he openly addressed the network’s interesting decision not to celebrate his ‘Hot 100‘ successes by inviting him to perform at this year’s ceremony…while showing love to some of his more controversial rivals.

Why he is “almost done” with the network?

His words below…

So, why do you think the show is yet to show him love?

Weigh in below!

There’s a reason they’re called the EBT awards and network, they bring a whole lot of ghetto behavior that you don’t see from other professional networks/awards shows.

Sad as hell that CMA had him on and showed him so much love, while BET was kissing Chris’s b*** trying to get the hook up on a reality show (I see you suddenly ‘hosting’ Karreuche).

I think a lot of black stars end up abandoning the platform, which is sad, it’s been years since we’ve seen Beyonce or Rihanna there and I wouldn’t blame Jason (sales or not since we know that’s not why they’re shunning him) if he took a step back too.

    • MJBNews July 9, 2014

You obviously did not watch the BET Awards this year. The BET Awards was VERY classy & well put together, this year. The ceremony ranked higher than the Golden Globes & Vh1 awards, in TV ratings, for reasons you haven’t listed, which automatically makes your opinion voided. People like you are VERY annoying. Meanwhile, the BET Awards continues to build an impressive résumé…honoring Jason Derulo wouldn’t be an authentic move. He’s not doing anything for black music. Most of his fans, are white. Stop speculating. The BET Awards is a prestigious award that shouldn’t be deemed unworthy by anyone, ESPECIALLY considering the award ceremony this year. BET did an EXCELLENT job.

Said the BET employee…. :files nails:

@DiggerBey I like you & your idol girl but the BET awards do not do better then the VMA’s or the Oscars! Lol I think the VMA’s has done lower then 7 like only 3times in the 2000s in its 20year history &………the Oscars Child please. Lol

      • DIGGER BEY July 9, 2014

Um @ Belladonna…..BET Awards has been more entertaining and has had better ratings than the VMAS over the years. Sorry. No one beats the Oscars due to how prestigious they are but BET had better ratings this year.

    • Cat Daddy July 9, 2014

Jason should know BET only supports coke head woman beaters fresh out the pokey. BET is trash. They spent more time tweeting about Karrueche surf board built bobble head self than they spent tweeting about the TALENT.

It’s not about talent and hard work no more it’s about these talent-less thots that don’t have to do anything but suck the right DIQ and viola they’re a star.

Sometimes I forget he’s a black boy! but then again F bet,he already got the world jamming to his tune

  3. Stephy July 9, 2014

He don’t need the BLACK community honestly. Them WHITE folks LOVE his lil dance songs… His songs are always on the charts somewhere.. BYE

    • DJ July 9, 2014

Name me of one his songs that wasn’t on this album that anyone knows, I’ll wait.

        Read dat sluut…READ HA!!!!

      • Mark111 July 9, 2014

Whatcha Say was a #1 hit. In My Head was a top 10, riding solo was a smash and those were all on the first album. I’m not sure im6 getting the names right, Miss You When I’m Breathing, Don’t Want To Go Home on his 2nd album were hits.

  4. DJ July 9, 2014

He never has really catered to the urban audience until this album so why should we cater to him.

    • truth (icki is FLOPN every ft she on chile..she FLOPN careers.. Kc, FM and CICI is proof) July 9, 2014

      #POW

    • Iamdiego July 9, 2014

Exactly! 2 yrs ago he wouldn’t have even wanted to be there. R&B is getting cool again on the charts and now he wants a taste of it (EDM is not selling the way it was a few yrs back). If he were to put out something authentic maybe he’d get recognition on BET. He has had 2 urban sounding singles that are still considered pop. Id prefer Sam Smith be on the BET awards (at least his voice/music is more soulful than Jasons).

      • shar July 9, 2014

Right! The most urban song he has ever had is ‘Wiggle”! I was super surprised when I found out that was him. He hasn’t done anything close to black music until now. None of our urban stations play him or his girlfriend Jordan because they are pop artists and obviously cater to the white folk. Why would BET honor him? Make an actual R&B album and then we’ll see what happens.

    • CzarM July 9, 2014

Basically. Jason Dehellno is just Kesha/Katy Perry in the form of a black man. He’s never made it his business to connect with black music fans until very recently, and even it seems a bit white-washed — like he’s only doing it because it’s trending. We’re supposed to go chasing after this cornball who has been basically spent his whole career acting like he didn’t see us and wanted instead to connect with Katy Kats and One Direction stans? Please. See what people don’t seem to realize is that while black music may not be as big as pop music, and while people want to dismiss the BET and Soul Train Awards as being not as “important” as the Grammy’s, AMA’s or VMA’s, the reality is that black media and audiences are much more loyal than pop is. Yeah, they’ll provide you will millions more in sales during your peak, but they’ll drop you back into the land of obscurity two years later. A decade after they peaked or had just one hit, we’re still mentioning Missy, Cassie, Mario, Christina Milian, etc., etc. What pop stars who debuted at the same time as Missy and Beyonce are still being acknowledged by that demographic? Lesson here is: if you’re a black artist, do not snub black audiences and black music while you’re peaking. We’re the ones who’ll still remember your name long after Becky’s, Stacy’s, Chad’s and Joey’s grow out of their t*** pop phase and act like they never liked you.

      • shar July 9, 2014

Yassss! Damnit you just said it all!! R&b music=loyal fan, pop music=loyal while you are new and hot

      • RatedR July 9, 2014

        @CzarM Co-Sign . Someone gets it .

      • We have to do better… July 9, 2014

@czarM get the f outta here with that b*******. We do not support our artist our true R&b artists are struggling. We also support the “HOT” RnB artist and there are only a few of them… but we for damn sure don’t buy records. The way we support is right the f here commenting on the posts. You bring up names that are NO LONGER DOING MUSIC and have to find other ways to survive. With those pop artist at least they make some money so that when no one knows their name they have a comfy wad of cash to fall back on. Missy is the exception and even then she hasn’t released music but she is one of our greats. You mentioning them years down the line don’t pay their bills. So that my dear is a dumb ass comment.

  5. truth (icki is FLOPN every ft she on chile..she FLOPN careers.. Kc, FM and CICI is proof) July 9, 2014

    Who?

  6. Blue Ivy Carter-Rodriguez July 9, 2014

He should have been there and to the user that said he never made urban music. Neither did Justin Beiber and he was still nominated/invited. BET invited IGGY, she only has one hit. BET is behind and shouldn’t only focus on Urban music because even that is mainstream now.

    • Beygency July 9, 2014

I agree. Hell they nominated Ariana Grande and while she has rap features she is certainly not an urban artist. They could have acknowledged this man

      • Did Ya say Justin Bieber,Beyoncè,Miley,Lady Gaga,One Direction,Rita Ora,Sam Smith,Lil Kim or Austin Mahone? July 9, 2014

sweetie stfu about Justin cause you aint listern tah his whole album,ya only know them catchy tunes singles..His albums urban as s*** and as for Ariana them arinators be loyal,we know they helped a lot with view and iggy done errrbody wanna see the new white rap b**** who go wipe these hip hop h*** out

      • Blue Ivy Carter-Rodriguez July 9, 2014

His first two albums were full blown POP. He was nominated as Best new Artist. BET just invited people who will bring in more viewers rather than music. Chris Brown? Really? I like Loyals but that song is old as hell, Jason’s Wiggle or Talk dirty to me could have been performed

  7. DIGGER BEY July 9, 2014

Tisha….. Gurl please STFU. When did u see ghetto behavior on the BET Awards? You’re assuming just because its an Black award show, it gotta be hood or ghetto. Biitch please. Iguess your ass didn’t catch The Daytime Emmys this year. It was more foolery in that one night than all of the BET Awards combined.

  8. Boobie July 9, 2014

This dude was not acknowledged because he has done nothing to be acknowledged for… His music sucks, his performance sucks…. a bootleg wannabe usher/chris brown. I have never cared for him or his music because he doesn’t come across as genuine – Jason Derulo you are a lame as hell… BET is not using you..

  9. GiGi July 9, 2014

Come On Jason , He Knows Why .

He Can’t Expect to Do One Urban Album all of A Sudden and Feel like he deserve all this respect from urban audiences . Who probally feel like he is not being authentic . Because Most of his songs and Visuals are like Trey Songz . It’s just a sudden switch of audiences because Urban music is hot right now and BET probaly saying it’s not a good fit . Urban songs are NOT R&B songs . He is still very much a Pop Act and he should be happy and accept that . It’s just that When you hear BET Awards and Jason Derulo together it sounds forced and he never cared before Talk Dirty , Now he’s demanding to be apart of Hip-Hop/R&B’s Bighest Night , just because his singles this time are doing well . Advice to him would be focus on building an album that is more you and contains Solid Pop songs infused w/ a Urban flavor and every song is not so in your face like I need a hit type songs and He’ll be good .

  10. Yea ok July 9, 2014

Jason should hardly care about recognition from BET. He is recognized by better platforms. I don’t care what the ratings are for bet this is the same network that honored Lionel Richie and spelled his name wrong for all those viewers to see during his big moment. That’s BET for u. Jason. Keep doing u. I honestly see Jason having a longer career than most of the new r and b boys anyway. Black people don’t buy music they steal it so keep catering to the audience who keeps u in the top 10.

    • Mark111 July 9, 2014

AMA, VMA, Billboard award amd T*** Choice are no better than Net, so you can end that there. How is Blacks aren’t buy music when pop artist with top hits aren’t selling any better? NO ONE is selling, so stop saying Blacks don’t buu when the truth os NO ONE is! Jlo is pop and flopped wrosed than every r&b artist in the pass year. Iggy jas tje #1 hit and caters to whites and her album still hasn’t passed 200k. Tones of tje EDM artist hasn’t passed 300k. Linkin Park flopped and they’re rock stars, matter of fact, minus Imagine Dragon, there’s NO rock music on tje charts, single nor albums. So are White people steeling music too? Phuck out of here!

The truth is, they only people buying music are teens with their smartphones, and those are only singles.

  11. Mark111 July 9, 2014

I agree, he’s just as urban as Chris Brown, but with bigger hits. He has a clean image, wrote all of his hits. He’s just as urban pop as Neyo, JT, JB and Macklemore. BET can be ass backwards ay times, but then agai6, WillIAm never been nominated, nor has Black Eye Peas, LMFAO, Pit Bull, FloRida and alot of black artist that does Pop music, but will nominate a White artist with assplash of urban to them.

Like he said, I wouldn’t worry about them, but it is a singles age, amd artist loke Jason, PitBull and FloRida write their songs, they get a bigger check than others that may sell a lil more albums, but no hits. But sadly, they’re very forgetible.

    • DIGGER BEY July 9, 2014

BET isn’t gonna nominate no damn Jason Derulo. His name screams pop. And bigger hits than Breezy????

      • Mark111 July 9, 2014

Umm, BeatMe can barley crack the top 10.

      • Grump July 9, 2014

Yes. Bigger hits than breezy. Chris Brown barely enters the top 20 these days. Jason stays perched in the top 10, single after single.

  12. Music2014 July 9, 2014

To the Ariana & Justin Comments .
Ariana is the perfect example of Fusing Pop/Urnan tunes started with Her DEBUT single ‘The Way’ which people take a kin to because it not your Generic pop hit . Meanwhile Jason DEBUTED with ‘Watcha Say’ which was A Very Pop song then All the Songs That Follow Suit were Pop and Dance tunes . Jason Has not created a whole cohesive album w urban songs . Until As Of Recent with TALK DIRTY (Album) Jason made songs that had a hint of urban flavor but still very catering to POP . Given that Urban sounding songs are Hot at the moment ; could it be that the only reason he did those type of songs are simply because that is what’s selling if so there goes credibility , authenticity and artistry because people can tell false advertising from a mile away because your telling me Someone whose released TWO albums before all containing Pop songs and then Third album switch!! Urban songs come out very confusing because he is already establish as a Pop act to many . Ariana started from the beginning with Her First Album that She is a Pop singer that sings on R&B/ Hip-Hop beats and has way more urban songs than pop songs . Justin is a little different ; Justin has always been around an Urban audience from collaborations to cosigns Justin actually played with the Pop sound on his first album then by the the Second Album was a more R&B feel it started with ‘Boyfriend’ and gradually went into more urban songs , Justin has always said that he listened to more r&b than pop . Also to that Iggy comment Iggy is Rapper so yes she would be invited she’s not a r&b/pop singer turned Rapper she is a rapper and has been that way from beginning . No one is asking Jason to change we’re just saying do what you want , Just don’t think everyone is going to be receptive to it and that you deserved to be rewarded . Don’t make songs that you feel like are going to get you a reward or hit , Make songs that feel like are you and and not hit thirsting and the rewards will come on It’s own .

    • Mark111 July 9, 2014

Are we acting like JT wasn’t making the popiest songs before FS/LS? Same with JB?

      • Music2014 July 9, 2014

Justiffied was very Contemporary R&B . Stylistically JT has always been catering to R&B . If you want to go back to N’Sync days they did R&B remixes and featured collaborated with rappers . JB album as a whole not just the hits we hear are Contemporary R&B and Urban songs . Jason plucked the two most urban songs added people who are hot at the moment and tried to pass himself off as an Urban act which is not true because Talk Dirty is listed under pop charts on iTunes no ones saying he can’t be poppiest of pop stars but when you try to become a more urban artist and say your tired of reaching out but you’ve only been doing urban songs since about 4months ago is not fair to the R&B acts who are well into their career and that is really into their career to have him nominated because he has hits well ok , transform those hits into a solid COHESIVE body of work that feels authentic . And then maybe he will be invited/asked to perform . Until then he is riding the wave of hits so enjoy it .

      • Mark111 July 9, 2014

Oh please, Justiffied was just as pop as Stripped and In To The Zone. Funny everything you said about Jason, JT has done the same thing. Same with JB, just because they have a rapper or a black producer doesn’t make them R&B. They only claim R&B when it’s convenient to their success. JT want to be called King or President of Pop, but grab all the R&B awards. Xtina had R&B sounding music and has never called herself R&B, same with Brit. The white boys want to have their cake and eat it too.

  13. DIGGER BEY July 9, 2014

Kii @ Him saying he’s done but BET have never acknowledged you though kii. BET only caters to urban artist. Jason started off pop but his more recent stuff is urban. BET could’ve nominated him in the Best R&B/Pop Male Artist Cat but I think BET only pick the ones that chart in both genres. If Jason’s music was playing on urban stations, then he would of been nominated. BET would nominate Justin B before Jason.

  14. Keri Krew Kween July 9, 2014

What difference does it make if he’s making R&B, Urban Pop, or EDM? He is still black, isn’t he? Last I checked, BET stood for Black Entertainment Television. Jason is black so by default he has a right to be apart of the show. Why does everyone want to put black in the urban box? Black artist sing more then just Hip-Hop and R&B. BET should recognize that. Darius Rucker has probably never seen the BET Awards either because he doesn’t make “black music”. It’s not the Urban Awards, its the Black Entertainment Television Awards.

    • Grump July 9, 2014

RIGHT! I don’t even know what these folks are talking about. Black folks keep calling others racist when we are racist even amongst ourselves. It’s a shame.

    • DIGGER BEY July 9, 2014

So I guess BET is wrong for not acknowledging Darius over the years???? The BET Awards was established to honor Black artist. Really….BET = Hip Hop, Soul, R&B, Gospel, etc but not Pop music. That’s exactly what Jason is. Just because he’s black, that doesn’t mean he should be nominated. He music doesn’t caters to those genres. Justin Bieber hell caters to those genres more than Jason.

  15. RatedR July 9, 2014

He Is Too Wishy Washy , Who is Jason Derulo ?? That is the question . Is He Chris Brown , Trey Songz , Usher , Ne-Yo . I mean come on Find Out who you are and then give us a body of work that represents that .

  16. Mark111 July 9, 2014

They should’ve let him performed Vs that Skyped Bey and Jay crap. I like them, but I don’t get why BET kiss their butts so much when they didn’t even show up to your show with noms.

    • DIGGER BEY July 9, 2014

Because they are Pop Icons! ROYALS! KINGS! Legends! You need more explanations on why BET Kiss their ass? Who don’t? And BET isn’t going to ask him perform anything because 50% of there audience don’t know him.

  17. Nicki July 9, 2014

BLACK PEOPLE DONT CARE FOR HIM END OF STORY

  18. TRUTH SERUM July 9, 2014

I thought the BET Awards were good this year and the show wasn’t ghetto at all. The nerve of some of these pasty queens on here. Jason has every right to be upset. Hrs just as relevant as if not more relevant thant August. I like the fact that his music is diverse. At the end of the day, he’s black and wants to be recognized by his community. It’s a slap in the face. Shame on you BET. And Lionel Richie makes more pop ballads than any black artist I know. Urban my ass.

    • Mark111 July 9, 2014

Thank You! Lie-nel was the popiest pop star, his ass is barley black. They need to stop tripping and give Janet her lifetime achievement award, it’s long over due.

      • TRUTH SERUM July 9, 2014

I couldn’t agree more, Janet deserves her award.

  19. Blue Ivy Carter-Rodriguez July 9, 2014

August didn’t have a bigger Urban hit than Jason, in fact this is his first album and he was still invited. Your point lack logic. BET is backwards and he should have been invited point blank period. Didn’t they also have 21 for nomination? How urban was that album?

  20. Teacher July 9, 2014

I don’t blame you Jason… F*** BET! They’re trash anyway and rigged for their favorite hoodrats! (e.g. Beyonce)

    • DIGGER BEY July 9, 2014

Are we mad BET pays Jason dust just like The Whoree???? Kii

  21. Mark111 July 9, 2014

And don’t get me started on Lupita Nyong’o. That award should’ve went to Washington because the black audience were more into her show than a supporting actress. That’s not why I’m mad, I’m mad that she didn’t even bother to show up. NOW, if you HAD a shoot for a film, I think she’s doing Star Wars, then that’s fine I guess. BUT I’m sure they don’t film on Sundays and you are more known for walking the red carpet than anything else, so why wasn’t she there? I recall the Black community rooting for her ass the MOST when it was a 50/50 that Jennifer was gonna win that Oscar, ut your black ass couldn’t show up and walk the carpet like you been doing all year long? Eff that! Her ass should’ve been there. Let’s not act like you can be gone tomorrow like every other oscar winning in the past. If Berry can pop up at the BET awards, who was a super star, then your wishy washy ass can be too.

    • CherylSoldier July 9, 2014

Babe you’re not her manager, so you don’t know what she was doing. Why has rihanna literally never showed then? The double standard.

      • Mark111 July 9, 2014

She’s working on R8, hasn’t had an album out since 2012 and doesn’t show unless she’s performing. Next question…

      • CherylSoldier July 9, 2014

No, my question was has she ever been there? She’s nominated every year. She never shows. Double standard.

      • Mark111 July 9, 2014

She was there in 07 and performed in 08. Other time she been on tours. Next question.

  22. Music2014 July 9, 2014

You want to know why August was invited and Asked to perform is because It’s A Cohesive Album that Is R&B and Urban . It is Contemporary R&B to the beginning no he did not have a big of hit as Jason but he Did Sell more than Jason on an Album tip . He is not trying to make hits that stick and see what they do to live up to I luv this like Jason who is trying to repeat Talk Dirty’s success . Adele has a very soulful tone , Lionel was in an R&B group before he was solo and branched out into other genres . At the end of the day if he’d created an Album that Spoke volumes and not worried about BET being receptive to it he would have had been less disappointed and stayed true to himself . On a scale his album in term of songs goes from Hot To Cold within a song there is not a gradual shift . Meaning its Pop:Urban ratio is so sudden within the course of a song its uneven there are no in between songs (transitional songs)

  23. Music2014 July 9, 2014

JASON IS NOT A TOP ACT FOR THE BET AWARDS . You stans Cannot Sit Up here and Defend someone who has stole a style that he was NOT embracing a F****** Year Ago . But It just so happend that he blew up with a Urban hit and expects the Accolades that follow most Urban artist but he is not ; He is Pop . It is s slap in the face to the Artist who are on the daily trying to Reinvent R&B to have some be awarded for a sound that is 9months old . Kuddos to Jason and His success but read between the lines . When he released TATTOO the EP in the US No One , I Repeat No One was checking for his music but 5 months later Talk Dirty Blows up he has now recreated Tattoos and replaced the previous singles/songs with Urban filled songs come on . Please tell me why he did not try this from the beginning instead of releasing Talk Dirty as the 4th single does not seem like being Urban was a priority to him . Why did no one buy the first 3 singles . He should have said that he is experimenting with ‘a new sound’ and maybe people would have been open to it . Instes of Pop single 1, Pop Single 2 , Pop/Dance/Electro fusion 3 , *Urban single 4 , *Pop/Urban single 5 . Too many mixed messages

  24. BEYFLAWLESS July 9, 2014

why should bet have him ,he was all in the pop scene know want to be urban ..every one trying to be urban now

  25. CherylSoldier July 9, 2014

But why does he have to make urban music just to be celebrated at the bet awards? Why do black artists have to make urban music? This is why rihanna pays this show dust every year. Absolute death. And it was not classy. Nice try.

    • the voice July 9, 2014

Chile no one cares about Rihanna not being at an Urban Award show. She is POP. No one cares….

      • CherylSoldier July 9, 2014

Black is not urban. It’s a problem if you think that. Black can be anything and anyone can perform urban music. Absolute death that rihanna is nominated every year but pays the bet awards dust!

  26. Vandrea July 9, 2014

Is he serious? This fools discography is 90% pop music, and he wants to be salty about being snubbed by the BET Awards? That’s like Keyshia Cole going on a rant because the CMT Awards didn’t nominate or invite her. She doesn’t cater to that demographic, just like Jason doesn’t this one. Stop acting brand new. Jason has been around for a good 5 years and the truth is that he simply hasn’t connected with black music listeners on a whole. That was a decision he made. He decided that he was gonna do generic pop and EDM, which black folks by and large don’t listen to. He’d be out of place at the BET Awards, or any award show that awards black music.

    • CherylSoldier July 9, 2014

No babe, it’s not. The cmts are the country music television awards. Bet doesn’t have urban anywhere in its name. In fact, their categories say best pop/rnb artist. A black artist doesn’t have to release urban music just because he’s or she’s black. Ex. Pharrell won for happy.

  27. Lisa July 9, 2014

If they can put Iggy Azalea’s wack ass on BET, then they can put him on there.

I’m sorry Jason, but one or two urban-tinged pop songs don’t make you R. Kelly. It’s hysterical that he’d complain about not being acknowledged by the BET awards when overall he’s been like a solo version of The Wanted. Go make more dippy, dingy pop records for that audience. You didn’t care about us, so we don’t care about you. Bye.

Tsk. Derulo wasn’t thinking about the BET Awards when he made “In My Head” or “Don’t Wanna Go Home” was he? Every Uncle Tom eventually wishes they could have a bonding moment with their own community.

I say this with love- If its not the Grammys,TheVMAs,TheBritAwards,TheNRJ’s in France or Idol&TheVoice season final’s who gives a sh*t. The BET awards are all about celebrating hot ghetto a*s mess like CB & August who are both the worst kind of people anyone could meet. And the show only does like 7mil in rating #girlBye. And somebody got shot at an after party this year no lie ( Look it up) What Jason a*s should be doing is calling MTV’s A*s so he can perfrom this years if he knows what’s good for him. #Facts

Yes because everything white people do is so much better than anything that black people do.

    • BAM BAM July 9, 2014

You know Tommy Lee and Kid Rock actually fought at the VMAS one year…but thats none of my business

I don’t understand why black artist who do Pop music are looked down on. It’s sad that they won’t accept a fellow black just because he doesn’t perform typical urban music, but they’ll gladly give attention to artist like Justin Bieber and Robin Thicke. Instead of pushing Jason away, BET should be embracing him for daring to be different. But then again BET has always been behind. They are on this downward spiral to making our community look worst than it already is. There’s a reason why Beyonce hasn’t had a live performance on the BET Awards since MJ’s passing. People really should look at the BET episodes of “The Boondocks”. They may be over exaggerated spoofs, but there are some truths to them. Don’t worry Jason, you’re still making bank. You don’t need BET.

    • BAM BAM July 9, 2014

I think you may be confusing BET With VH1 or Bravo. Please name the show that is so degrading to black people that is CURRENTLY runing on BET…. Ill wait

      • LIONHEART July 9, 2014

Oh gladly…. The Game (naming Brandy’s character chardonnay? oh ok). Real Husband’s of Hollywood (a spoof on the “Real Housewives series, mainly Atlanta, that plays on their stereotypes), the numerous reality shows that have followed Keyshia Cole and her family (including the one that will start in a few months)…. I can go on.

      • Bam Bam July 9, 2014

First Brandy’s character on The Game’s name is really a problem. OK whatever..

The Real Husbands of Hollywood is a spoof like you said and in the nature of spoofs people are known to exaggerate things. So you would say that SNL is degrading to people?

And as far as Keyshia Cole and her family The cast of Love and Hip Hop (Atlanta and New York), Basketball Wives, and the Up and coming Love and Hip Hop L.A. have definitely had a more lasting effect. I don’t know the person who looks at Frankie and say I want to be a crackhead but I can find people who call Joseline Hernandez their idol.

By the way Keyshia actually blocked that family from being on reality T.V. and shopping a show around does not mean that it is going to be on Television anytime soon. With shows like Being Mary Jane and Just Ke Ke now on their roster I doubt they want to take steps back.

  32. Biting Truth July 9, 2014

Ain’t nobody checkin for Jason bringing that white boy music he does to the BET Awards. Real recognizes real and dude is fake. Let him go shuck ‘n jive and tapdance his token ass at the MTV EMA’s.

  33. Jason got robbed July 9, 2014

Bet is a joke. Chris got nominated and he didn’t even have an album this year. SMFH. Talk dirty is one of the biggest song this year. Not just in america but worldwide and bet overlook it.

    Biggest r&b song this year.
    1. Pharrel Williams “happy” 5.6 millions in america. Over 10 millions worldwide
    2. John Legend “All of me” 4 millions in america. Over 8 milions worldwide
    3. Jason Derulo ” Talk Dirty” 3.8 millions in America. Over 7 millions worldwide

I guess their nomination is not base on success. If it was, Jason should be right up there with Pharrell and John. Bet even had an r&b/pop category and Jason still didn’t get no love.

  34. Liz July 9, 2014

Not that Rihanna caters to black people… Just saying

    • Tika July 10, 2014

Rihannas people were still pushing her music to black radio early in her career. Jasons people didn’t until this year.

  35. Absolved July 9, 2014

Jason’s reminds me of a token black character on an otherwise all-white t*** drama. I’m glad they snubbed him. I don’t know any black people who are actually fans of his. His few little enthusiasts are mostly white.
BET nominating him would have been a charade.

  36. Tika July 10, 2014

His people never sought attention from black radio until recently. He can’t try to crack black radio going the opposite direction it doesn’t work like that.

  37. rashid July 13, 2015

JASON DERULO IS WACK SIMPLE…. and really doesnt have any BLACK fans….. The day he would win a BET award, we might just stop watching BET..
