After bidding farewell to ‘Interscope’ and heading over to ‘Def Jam’, it’s safe to say that Iggy Azalea‘s career has gone from strength to strength, now handled by a team who’ve succeeded in taking her from the bottom of the Pop pile to the height of the ‘Hot 100.’
Now, as they figure out a way to turn her ‘Fancy’ buzz into commendable sales, the label have placed her on ‘My Main’, the forthcoming single from Motown‘s Mila J.
Though yet to announce its official release date, ‘Main’ will drop in support of Mila‘s forthcoming ‘M.I.LA’ EP, set for release in September. Interesting, as September will also mark the release of Azalea‘s ‘The New Classic‘ re-release, both projects being launched by the ‘Universal Music Group.’
With two months until the ‘Classic’s relaunch, we really hope Iggy is spending this time penning smash hits that don’t feel so…manufactured.
For, whichever way one looks at it, ‘Classic’ was filled to the brim with cuts that led by its hooks and production alone. Problematic, when one realises that the rapper’s verse stand as the least interesting part of her own music.
With this mind, here’s hoping Camp Iggy encourage the MC to pen her own cuts from scratch as opposed to collecting numbers from different publishing houses and having her pen verses based on concepts handed to other by other writers.

All male rappers do not write their own songs and female rappers should not be intimidated to write. If a rapper wants to translate a poet’s words, then so be it just like RnB or any other genre. Don’t you know that Dr. Dre, Snoop, JayZ, Kanye did not write every lyric they recorded? The male rappers can rap about anything, stupid stuff like SouljaBoy and yet are you saying that a female rapper can’t have fun? In the 90s there were many female rappers, each in their own lane. There were lyrical rappers, fun rappers, conscious rappers, etc. Every female rapper does not have to be laced with heavy metaphors. Iggy is doing just fine. We will just have to wait for another lyrical female rapper, if that’s the type of rapper one likes. Personally, I like all types of rapping styles. I am just happy that Iggy proved that a female rapper, with a label backed budget, can succeed. Now, the industry needs to sign some more unsigned female rappers and watch how it could take off.

The funny thing is that TGJ aren’t even lying. Go on Fancy’s wikipedia page and read what it says in the composition part. It doesn’t even name Iggy as one of the writers, it says TI wrote it.
